A.M. Null is the pen name of author Heather Davis. She was born in Seattle, Washington, where, thanks to her teacher father, she spent every morning of seventh grade reading in the library, waiting for school to start. She read through every mystery and thriller she could get her hands on, and has always dreamed of writing her own.

She attended The Evergreen State College, where she studied film, but found storytelling in written form was her true calling, and so began her writing career with the publication of her first Young Adult novel, Never Cry Werewolf. Subsequent novels include Wherever You Go and The Clearing, which was a finalist for the RITA award for Best Young Adult Romance.

No secret to living double-lives, she is now the author of the Alias Raven series, which follows the young recruits of the shadow op, CRAFT, as they navigate their way through deceit and lies to protect and serve the innocent.

She lives and writes in Seattle, not far from where she grew up. She still spends her mornings dreaming up thrillers and mysteries, as she did many years ago, but this time it’s all on the page.

Note: This review is based on an eARC received from the publisher in exchange for my honest thoughts about the book.

    The Review

THE TRUTH ABOUT BOYS is a sweet, fun, angst-filled and delightful read with a number of positive messages and takeaways. It’s a story about difficult choices, missed opportunities, pursuing your dreams. It’s about mistakes, mixed signals, being understanding, and being able to forgive. It is a little bit sad, a little bit heartbreaking, and a whole lot moving and heartwarming and romantic. It is a super quick, easy, one-sit read and a wonderful addition to the series.

Kate Watts has always played it safe, been responsible, been goal-oriented. She was not about to get distracted by a summer fling, no matter how fast Rory made her heart beat. She needed to focus on earning money so that she could try to help Mimi and Pop pay for college. But it wouldn’t be easy.

Especially with her ex in town for the summer looking to rekindle things between them. And with her mother suddenly trying to be a part of her life. And with her pretty, perky, and attention-seeking cousin showing up unannounced, insinuating herself into every aspect of her existence.

What she hoped was going to be an uneventful summer was turning out to be more complicated than she ever would have imagined. She would have to make some difficult decisions, learn a few lessons, and come to the realization that what she thought was not always right.

Shana Norris injected just the right amount of emotional turmoil into her novel. From her character’s relationships with her family and the boys in her life to the choices she’d have to make about her future, there is plenty to give readers that deliciously twisty-turny feeling.

She had the perfect amount of romance. She created secondary characters who provided more than just a backdrop to the story. And she touched on several issues that many teens going through that transition period between high school and college would have to face.

THE TRUTH ABOUT BOYS is more than just a summer romance story. It has some depth. It introduces characters with some very relatable problems. It gives some food for thought. It is immediately captivating, thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end, with entertaining, likable, frustrating, maddening, adorable characters. It is an exciting and engaging addition to a positively delectable series.

1 ill-fated hot dog costume. 2 former BFFs. 11 days to seduce a boy.

Avery James doesn’t believe in romance—she’s studied enough biology to know that love is nothing more than hormones and chemicals. Besides, she has more practical goals in mind, namely saving up for a summer humanitarian program in Costa Rica. But when her Diggity Dog House supervisor denies her a raise and Avery finds herself $500 dollars short for the trip of a lifetime, Avery has no choice but to accept an unexpected offer. The deal? She must steal her arch nemesis Hannah’s boyfriend before prom, giving Avery eleven days to seduce Zac Greeley.

Avery is sure the job will be easy. But a few midnight comedy shows and spontaneous dance parties (not to mention one particularly intimate carwash) later, Avery finds herself questioning everything she’s ever thought about love. Could Zac’s signature cherry-lime Slurpees be causing brain freeze, or is Avery actually starting to fall for him?

Will Avery be able to steal Zac away from Hannah before he steals Avery’s heart?

4 wheels on a rusty truck. 2 gray eyes. 1 secret that could ruin everything.

All Hannah wanted was a summer break from being “perfect Hannah Cohen” and a chance to forget about the devastating family secret that could ruin her seemingly perfect life. So when she takes off for her eccentric aunt’s house in the mountains of North Carolina and everyone makes one big (wrong) assumption about her past, Hannah figures that it’s easier to live a lie than have to face the truth.

She never expected to make any real friends, like the hilarious and spontaneous Kate and Ashton, who drag her to late night bonfires and ice cream marathons. And she especially never counted on meeting Jude Westmore, the brooding bad boy next door with gray eyes and permanent oil smudges on his fingers, or that he would ever take an interest in her.

Between moonlit movie nights in the bed of Jude’s truck and nearly romantic Ferris Wheel rides, Hannah’s old life seems further away then ever, but can she keep her secret, or is the truth worth the risk of losing everything, including Jude?

In this heartwarming debut by Hellogiggles blogger Kerry Winfrey, a young agoraphobe begins a journey of first love that leads her to the true meaning of home—just by taking one small step outside of her house.

    My name is Mallory Sullivan.

My therapist says I have an anxiety disorder.

My brother says I’m an “optimistic recluse.”

Everybody else says I’m a freak.

And they kind of have a point, because I haven’t left the house in 67 days and only attend class via the webcam on my laptop. The person I talk to the most other than my mom and brother is the completely obnoxious BeamMeUp, and all we do is argue on New Mexico’s premiere alien message board.

But after yesterday, I have something: a chance. If I can win the homecoming crown by convincing resident hot popular guy and Friday Night Lights spawn Brad Kirkpatrick to go as my date, then maybe #stayathome will never appear next to the name @Mallory_Sullivan ever again.

First, I have to leave my room.

NOTE: This review is based on an eARC received from the publisher in exchange for my honest thoughts about the book.

    The Review

There are certain stories that make you happy to have read them. LOVE AND OTHER ALIEN EXPERIENCES is one of those reads. It is sweet and funny and romantic and a little bit sad. Its main character, Mallory Sullivan, is interesting and entertaining, sympathetic, amusing, and braver than she knew herself to be. And with her well-meaning if slightly devious brother Lincoln and best friend Jenni, two cute boys, and a seemingly outrageous plan to achieve the impossible, it promises to make you laugh, smile, swoon, and keep you captivated from beginning to end.

After her father left without an explanation as to why, where he was going, or if he’d be back, Mal’s life began to fall apart. Now the only place she feels safe is at home, attending school remotely by webcam, socializing only with her brother and her best friend – the only friend who stuck with her after her major meltdown – and posting on the We Are Not Alone message board.

While she wished she never had to leave the house, she knew her therapist wasn’t going to let her off that easy, her mother couldn’t take much more of her being a recluse, her physics teacher was insisting on an in-person midterm, and she’d never be able to find and confront her father from the self-imposed prison she called home. If she could just con herself into believing she was strong enough, capable enough, safe enough, she might be able to pull it off and get back the life she lost.

Or maybe all she needed was an impossible challenge and a huge incentive to overcome her fears.

Kerry Winfrey penned an absolutely delightful and engaging and unputdownable story that lightly touches on a number of issues – agoraphobia, anxiety, pressure, stress, unrealistic expectations, unfair judgment, abandonment, and failure. She keeps her story from becoming weighty by adding humor, flirtation, and romance. And she keeps it exciting by incorporating drama, tension, and a few unexpected surprises, twists and turns of event.

The author introduces a lovable heroine who is fighting to regain control of her life and involves her in an outlandish scheme that will either prove a huge success or an abject failure. Her supporting characters are a mix of good-intentioned, helpful and understanding, and frustrated, confused, misunderstood and moody. But they all play a role in Mallory’s road to recovery.

Everything wraps up nicely at the story’s end, though the ending does feel a bit rushed and some aspects might have been fleshed out more to keep the pacing more consistent. But this doesn’t take you out of the story or take away from its enjoyment.

LOVE AND OTHER ALIEN EXPERIENCES is a quick, enchanting, and feel-good read that can easily be devoured in one sitting. It is heartwarming and uplifting, with both a character and a love story you can’t help but want to root for. It’s a story you’ll fall instantly in love with and want to read again.

During welcome week at Hillson University, the FROSH will hit the fan.

Type-A aspiring journalist Ellie plans to take freshman year by storm. But hell-bent on breaking a huge on-campus scandal, she risks becoming one herself—and getting the mysterious, heart-melting QB in serious trouble.

Grant, star quarterback and charismatic chick-magnet, is hiding a life-altering secret. The last thing he needs is an overeager (absolutely adorable) journalist asking questions. He’s got a reputation to protect.

High-society legacy student Devon is ready to catch the football hottie of her dreams. If the tabloids feature her with the “it” boy on her arm, her tainted past will be buried—or so she thinks.

Charlie, pre-med, is done being the sweet and funny geek that girls like Devon ignore. But if he tries to impress her with a new edgy, spontaneous attitude, will his heart end up in the emergency room?

FROSH intertwines the stories of Ellie, Grant, Devon, and Charlie in Mónica B. Wagner’s sexy NA debut series, about falling in love and falling apart.

NOTE: This review is based on an eARC received from the publisher in exchange for my honest thoughts about the book.

    The Review

Fun, sweet, a little bit sexy, completely captivating and totally addictive, FROSH: First Blush is a fantastic first book in Mónica B. Wagner’s new trilogy. It promises heated hook-ups, ulterior motives, betrayal, jealousy, a catfight, a potential love triangle, possible unrequited love, a mysterious podcaster, and a headline-making scandal. It delivers angst, heartbreak, romance, humor, a well-developed story and characters, terrific writing, and a killer cliffhanger ending. It is a story and series that will become an instant favorite and are an absolute must.

Daniella “Ellie” Martowski really didn’t want to like Grant Landry, the star quarterback for Hillson U. She’d much rather crush on Tanner, the Managing Editor for the Nexus, where she was hoping to land the editorial assistant position. Though she really wished she didn’t want to have anything to do with either of them. Getting the job was way too important for her to mess it up by getting together with the wrong guy… or guys.

Devon Connors wanted to clear her family’s name and prove to everyone that the scandals they’d been plagued by were in the past. And she knew the perfect guy to have on her arm and to be by her side to show them how over it she was. All she had to do was orchestrate an accidental meeting or two, flirt and charm him, and she’d have Grant Landry eating out of the palm of her hand. Her plan was practically foolproof. If only she could stop herself from thinking about Charlie.

Charlie Keesan never thought someone like Devon Connors would even notice him, let alone give him one of the most amazing nights of his life. He just wished it had meant as much to her as it did to him. And he really wished he could stop thinking about her. Maybe if he became someone cooler, someone fun instead of funny, she’d want him as much as she clearly wanted Grant.

Grant Landry wasn’t used to girls like Ellie Martowski. Playing football meant that he never really had to work hard, or at all, to get a girl to like him. But Ellie was definitely hard-to-get and no matter what he did, he somehow always managed to make himself look bad. She was totally worth the effort, but it would have been nice to know if he was wasting his time or if maybe she liked him back, even just a little.

With each of the story’s four key characters keeping secrets, making mistakes, hiding their feelings and sending mixed signals – and all before classes even begin – heartache, drama, tension and suspense abound, making for an exciting and incredibly entertaining and unputdownable read.

FROSH: First Blush is filled with minor deceptions and manipulations, misunderstandings, hidden truths. It introduces an array of characters, some who are driven, some who are aren’t sure about what or who they want, some who are confident or over-confident, some who are shy and awkward, some who are dealing with family issues, and others who seem to have not a care in the world. And it intertwines their lives in ways that are unexpected, at times heated, and at others heartwarming.

Author Mónica B. Wagner created a number of characters readers will love getting to know. She penned a story that is positively delightful, that offers a bit of depth, and that looks to be just as enchanting for the entirety of the series. She brought surprises. She brought the tease of things to come. She brought the sexy.

Those who enjoy their love stories complicated, their characters’ interests and personalities varied, their relationships sizzling hot one minute and tear-filled or icy cold the next, and their story ending on the sheerest of cliffs, will fall in love with this spellbinding and delicious and seriously awesome read.

    Pages: 113
    Formats: eBook

For fans of Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent comes the second novella in the scintillating SIN & HONEY series featuring the Bible’s most powerful and seductive women…

So Delilah said to Samson, “Tell me the secret of your great strength.”—Judges 16:6

Delilah would do anything to escape her past.

Falling for Samson only got in the way.

Taryn Scarlett’s lush reimagining of Samson and Delilah uncovers the hidden truth behind the girl who became the most infamous seductress in history.

Delilah has come to the quiet valley of Sorek to start a new life, but when a man blackmails her with a devastating secret, she learns that not all sins can be buried in the past. In a dangerous bargain for her freedom, she agrees to seduce Samson, a notorious killer threatening the region—and if she can’t uncover the secret to his strength, she’ll forfeit her life.

But Samson is different than any man she has ever met before: godlike in his strength but guarding a passionate vulnerability that draws Delilah to him. Will she betray the man she has begun to fall for—or will she betray her own heart for freedom?

NOTE: This review is based on an eARC received from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest thoughts about the novella.

    The Review

Taryn Scarlett brought both heat and heart to her Samson and Delilah story in THE TOUCH OF BETRAYAL. She expanded on this biblical tale of weakness, vengeance, greed, and betrayal, making it also a story about love and strength and sacrifice. She portrayed Samson as more than a monster and a fool and Delilah as more than a heartless deceiver. She created a story that is bewitching, tantalizing, romantic, and sexy.

The narrative transports readers back in time to this world the author reimagined where they’ll get to know quite a bit more about Delilah – how she became who she was, how she ended up where she was, why she was willing to do what she did – and get the chance to understand her and even like her by the story’s end. They’ll be introduced to Samson who may be just as easily captivated by Delilah as expected, but who is also clever, insightful, and anything but foolish.

And they’ll become so invested in the characters they’ll be hoping for a happy ending for the couple.

With just over one hundred pages, THE TOUCH OF BETRAYAL manages to feel like a full-length novel. The characters and storyline are well-developed. There is a love story. There is action, heartbreak, suspense, and the unexpected. And those familiar with the tragic fate that awaits Samson can expect a read that is angst-filled.

Taryn Scarlett delivers a story that is gripping, seductive, heartrending, enchanting, with a romance that has just the right amount of heat. Readers looking for a perfectly delectable and enticing bite will easily devour this short story, featuring one of the most famous couples of all time, in one sitting. And they’ll be left anxiously awaiting the chance to dive back into this author’s imagination in the next Sin & Honey installment.

Desperate to save her family, she decides to take matters into her own hands: she will seduce the general and get into his bed—where she can kill him, and end the war.

But once Judith steals into enemy territory masquerading as an Israeli defector, she meets Bagoas, a soldier on a mission for peace. Aroused by his honor, Judith has a terrifying choice to make: let her people suffer and die, or sacrifice true love for the greater good.

It was an open and shut case: Olivia Tithe’s best friend, Lucas Stern, was murdered by her mother. She went to jail, and everyone expects Olivia to move on. Especially Austin, a guy she’s drawn to even though she doesn’t trust him.

But Olivia is stuck in the past, convinced that the wrong person has been accused, that there are clues no one else sees.

When she uncovers a surprising link to a missing girl, Olivia must risk trusting the unseen in order to stop the true killer.

    About Kate Ellison

    Kate Ellison

Kate Ellison spent a lot of time as a child, in Baltimore, pretending to be things she wasn’t: a twin, a telekinetic, a benevolent witch with a box full of magical stones, a spy, a soccer player. She trained as an actor in Chicago and has walked across the entire country of Spain. She is a painter and jewelry-maker, and has at least one artist friend who really does keep his true name a secret from the world. He told her, but don’t ask her to tell you—she’s not gonna do it. Kate lives in Brooklyn, New York.
