Because I’m Moving (Again) Signed SWEET RUIN Giveaway #5

    Because_I'm_Moving

    As previously mentioned…

Last year I had to do a major purge of books and ARCs because I was moving to a place that had a lot less storage. Well, I’m moving again and downsizing. So this means being forced to cull my newest ARCs that I had planned on keeping for a bit and making some hard choices about other, much larger, possessions I own and love.

But sacrifices must be made. And as much as I love these ARCs, I own every single one of them as Kindle eBooks, so it’s not like I’m losing the stories or characters, just the physical, unfinished, version of them.

    Anyway…

I am just about down to my last few ARCs. But as they’re ones I must read first, the final of my BIM(A) Giveaways won’t happen for a few weeks. However, in the meantime, I have one signed book I’m hoping to find a good home for…

    Best Book Boyfriends of 2015

I’ve had such an eclectic reading year that I don’t have nearly as many book boyfriends as I’ve had in the past. Many of the books I’ve read and loved didn’t even have romance as part of the storyline. And I also know that due to the number of books I have read and loved this year I am forgetting a few of them – so sorry my lovely fic boys! But I did not prep this post well in advance, as I’d hoped to, and so I am certain I’m forgetting some of my favorites.

I’m also losing a few due to the fact that they have to be from books read and released this year.

    Anyway… here they are.

BEST BOOKS I’VE READ IN 2015

I’ve read so many seriously amazing books this year, that picking just ten was a dreadfully impossible task. I’m just glad I read THE STARS NEVER RISE by Rachel Vincent in 2014 or it would have made narrowing down my list that much more horrendous. It also didn’t help that I read more books this year than last, that I’ve been in an eclectic reading mood, and that there were just so many incredible books written.

#1 MENAGERIE by Rachel Vincent – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s unique, it’s hard-hitting, the writing is beautiful, the story is phenomenal, the series potential has me desperate for the next installment.

#2 DEAD OF WINTER by Kresley Cole – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because this series is an all-time favorite, because the ending is abso-freaking-lutely killer, because it’s dark and gorgeous and the waiting is exquisite torture.

#3 SIX OF CROWS by Leigh Bardugo – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because the story is epic, the world-building incredible, the writing gorgeous, the detail impeccable.

#4 TEN THOUSAND SKIES ABOVE YOU by Claudia Gray – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because the writing is stunning, the world expansive and fascinating, the series riveting.

#5 BRUTAL YOUTH by Anthony Breznican – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s dark and gritty and edgy and shocking and disturbing, the writing brilliant, the story unforgettable.

#6 SCHISM by Jenna Black – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s complex and interesting and fascinating. The world is chilling and still amazing. The characters sympathetic and scary. The story compelling.

#7 AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s thrilling and epic and gripping and unputdownable. The dual POV makes it edge-of-your-seat exciting.

#8 THE ROSE SOCIETY by Marie Lu – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s so wicked and dark and wildly entertaining. It’s about villains. Nothing more needs to be said.

#9 ROOK by Sharon Cameron – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s action-packed, nerve-wracking, suspenseful. There are twists and turns. There’s romance, betrayal and heartbreak. What’s not to love?

#10 SALT & STONE by Victoria Scott – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s awesome and amazing and adorable and nail-biting. The characters are ones you can’t help but love, love, love. Though the possibility that there might not be a next book in the series is heartbreaking.

    Honorable Mentions

I really wanted to limit honorable mentions to just five, but I couldn’t do it. Limiting it to 15 was hard enough as it was.

So those are my favorite reads for 2015. What are yours?

A foundling raised in a world of humans
Growing up, orphaned Josephine didn’t know who or what she was—just that she was “bad,” an outcast with strange powers. Protecting her baby brother Thaddeus became her entire life. The day he was taken away began Jo’s transition from angry girl…to would-be superhero…to enchanting villain.

A lethally sensual enforcer on a mission
Whether by bow or in bed, archer Rune the Baneblood never fails to eliminate his target. In his sights: the oldest living Valkyrie. With one bite, she pierces him with aching pleasure, stealing his forbidden blood—and jeopardizing the secrets of his brethren.

A boundless passion that will lead to sweet ruin…
Could this exquisite female be a spy sent by the very Valkyrie he hunts? Rune knows he must not trust Josephine, yet he’s unable to turn her away. NOTE: This review is based on an ARC received from the publisher in exchange for my honest thoughts about the book.

    The Review

Kresley Cole never ceases to amaze. SWEET RUIN is an absolute standout in a series that just keeps getting better and better. It is exciting and sexy and funny. It is thrilling, action-packed, riveting. The lore is fascinating. The world is expansive. The characters are interesting, intriguing, and immensely entertaining, and ones you can’t wait to get to know.

Josephine is a bit of a mystery. Her characteristics and abilities don’t immediately reveal what she is. But her fiery temper, her sharp tongue, her determination, her self-assurance, and her fierce protectiveness, coupled with glimpses at a softer, more vulnerable side, make her instantly likable. And the fact that she can kick some serious butt and stand up to a millennias-old badass like Rune Darklight makes her impossible not to love.

She is young, impulsive, and reckless. Everything Rune isn’t. Yet he is curious about her, attracted to her, and even somewhat rattled by her. With his tortured past, poisonous blood, fearsome reputation, and a skill set that doesn’t allow for monogamy, he in no way sounds like the man for Jo. Even with his incredible stamina and his ability to please.

The two couldn’t be more different. But they challenge each other. They complement each other. Their chemistry is incendiary. And they have a common goal – take out Nïx the Ever-Knowing.

SWEET RUIN delivers page after page of unputdownable awesomeness. From the mystery that is Josephine Doe, to the conundrum that Rune is facing, to the games that Nix plays and the strings she continues to pull, to the building tension with the nearing of the Accession, to Jo and Rune’s angst-filled and highly combustible relationship, to the questions about the Møriør’s goals, to the introduction of new characters and cameos of series favorites, to a wild goose chase, to impressive displays of some awe-inspiring powers, to an abundance of sexual tension, to a number of surprising twists and turns, it is an intense, electrifying, scorcher of a read and an outstanding and integral addition to the Immortals After Dark series.

Every moment will keep you enthralled. Kresley Cole is a master at writing wickedly entertaining, edge-of-your-seat, all-consuming stories with characters who are passionate, kick-ass, delectable, savage, and absolutely extraordinary. And she brought all of that and more to SWEET RUIN, a definitely-must-read-right-now installment.

    The Rating

    06

Like In-N-Out Burger‘s infamous secret menu this one deserves my off-the-menu 6 star rating.
