Well, my local Barnes & Noble may have had a couple… or more… copies of Fallen, Torment and Passion. All of which happened to be signed. And as you might know by now, I can’t walk past signed books without picking up a copy – or all of them. Yes, I bought every single one of them.
They must have been shipped in, because I never saw the notice that author Lauren Kate was going to be doing a signing at my Barnes & Noble, but still. They were just too amazing to pass up. I even thought of keeping a set for myself.
But as space is at a premium, and since they aren’t personally signed, I will be giving them all away for the holidays.

Below are the YA books coming out this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.
These are books for the week of June 14th-June 20th that I have pre-ordered.
The Revenantby Sonia Gensler will be released in the U.S. on June 14, 2011 in hardcover, library binding and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at Amazon and in hardcover and library binding formats at Barnes & Noble.
Published by Knopf Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 336 pages.
The Revenant is one of the books that can be chosen for the 2011 Debut Author Challenge hosted by Kristi at TheStorySiren.com.
I’ve had an advance copy of The Revenant for awhile but haven’t had a chance to read it before release date. This book definitely sounds like an intriguing mystery and is another very different kind of story than one I typically read. And, I decided to pre-order the eBook to have for my collection because I believe this one will be a keeper.
Until recently I hadn’t even heard of the term “revenant,” but now I’m very curious to see how the revenant factors into this story which involves a main character who is hiding out on Cherokee lands and begins to see what she believes might be ghosts.
Hourglassby Myra McEntire will be released in the U.S. on June 14, 2011 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is available for pre-order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by EgmontUSA, the print edition is 400 pages.
Hourglass is one of the books that can be chosen for the 2011 Debut Author Challenge hosted by Kristi at TheStorySiren.com.
I also had an advance copy of Hourglass that I just didn’t have a chance to read prior to release, but I’ve had the eBook on pre-order since long before I got the printed ARC. I thought this cover was absolutely amazing – and yes it reminds me a little of the cover for Imaginary Girls which is immediately below this. But the premise of the story drew me in.
Hourglass sounds like it’s a mystery involving time travel with an added paranormal element – the main character sees apparitions. And it promises to be dark and seductive so I’m sure this will certainly be a debut to love.
Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma will be released in the U.S. on June 14, 2011 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available for pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by Dutton Juvenile, the print edition is 352 pages.

I had this on pre-order since the moment I heard about it. I do have the eARC and it’s at the top of my reading pile this weekend, but I already planned on adding this one to my collection. And as I’ve already talked about this endlessly, I’ll try to be quick here.
Imaginary Girls sounds haunting and dark and mysterious and I really want to know what the secrets are between Chloe and Ruby. This does not sound like a novel that will end happily and I can’t wait to find out if my suspicions are correct.
Book trailer for Imaginary Girls:
Trial by Fire by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is the second book in the Raised by Wolves series. It will be released in the U.S. on June 14, 2011 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available online for pre-order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by EgmontUSA, the print edition is 368 pages.
I had this on pre-order since the moment it was available for the Kindle. I read the first book in the series before I started blogging and couldn’t wait for the sequel. I managed to get my hands on an early copy of Trial by Fire but was only able to read one-third of the book and had to set it down in order to meet deadlines. But even with the ARC, I knew I’d want to have this book for my eBook collection.
I’m dying to find out how Bryn handles her responsibilities leading the pack and whether or not a love triangle situation develops between her, Chase and Connor. The description mentions “deadly conspiracies” and I can’t wait to find out what those are in this second book in a series I already love.
Book trailer for the Raised by Wolves series:
Passion by Lauren Kate is the third book in the Fallen series. It will be released in the U.S. on June 14, 2011 in hardcover, library binding, eBook and audio formats. It is currently available for pre-order at Amazon in all formats and at Barnes & Noble in an exclusive hardcover edition and in eBook format.
Published by Delacorte Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 432 pages.
I had this on pre-order forever. I started reading this series before I was a blogger and plan on following it to the end. I cannot wait to see what happens in Passion. I finally read the description on Goodreads. I’d been too afraid to look prior to now for fear of torturing myself unnecessarily, but it does sound epic.
I can’t wait to get a peek at all of Luce and Daniel’s past lives. And until I read the description I had no idea that there was a concern that she might rewrite history by revisiting their past. Of course I’m completely terrified now of what will happen. At least it’s only a few days until release date.
Book trailer for Passion:
All the Things You Are by Courtney Sheinmel will be released in the U.S. on June 14, 2011 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble in both formats.
Published by Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, the print edition is 256 pages.
I saw this book on Simon & Schuster’s Galley Grab but knew I wouldn’t get a chance to read it before release date so I added it to my pre-orders so I’d have a chance to read it. I haven’t yet read anything by the author but I heard good things about this book.
This contemporary young adult fiction story does not sound like a happy journey for the main character. She goes from a privileged life to one where her mother is in trouble, money is a concern and everything just falls apart. I’m curious to check out the author’s writing style and see how she handles this difficult change in circumstances for Carly.
And as always, I’m hoping for a happy ending.
The Demon’s Surrender by Sarah Rees Brennan is the final book in the Demon’s Lexicon trilogy. It will be released in the U.S. on June 14, 2011 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by Margaret K. McElderry, the print edition is 400 pages.
I think I checked Amazon every single day until this book became available to pre-order for my Kindle. I have been dying to read this last book in the series. I even tried to get hints from the author at the RT Convention in Los Angeles back in April. (No luck.)
I did read the excerpt and am excited to see this story from Sin’s perspective. I hope things work out exactly as I want them to, but I have a bad feeling. I’m glad that Goodreads doesn’t have much of a description, but I did stalk the one on Amazon which is totally spoiler-y for the other books in the series so I won’t go into detail here.
But at least we will finally get answers about Nick, Alan, Mae and Jamie, even if they’re not ones I’ll be happy about. And oh, I just hate those magicians.

From Bad to Cursed is the second book in the Bad Girls Don’t Die series by author Katie Alender. It will be released in the U.S. on June 14, 2011 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and in hardcover format only at Barnes & Noble.
Published by Hyperion Books for Children, the print edition is 448 pages.
I pre-ordered this book at the same time that I bought the eBook for Bad Girls Don’t Die. I’m so glad it’s finally coming out, although my wait has only been since April, which isn’t too bad compared to those who had to wait ages for its release.
Apparently things have been going smoothly for Alexis until Kasey gets herself involved in something new that Alexis needs to check out. It figures. I’m glad that Kasey is not my little sister.
This Sunshine Club sounds more like a cult than a club, and I hope that Alexis can figure out what really is up with Aralt before it’s too late.
This week I have eight books on pre-order. Even more than last week’s haul. I only read one of the books I received last week, so I’m in a serious deficit coming into this week. June is definitely killing me and I know that in two weeks from now, June 28th will be another huge release day. I think next week may be slightly quieter, though, but I still think I have at least five books on pre-order.
I’ll be going on vacation soon and I can only hope that I’ll be able to make a small dent in my reading during the week off. Still keeping fingers crossed, but as I said last week, I might not see the light of day until September.
As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!
And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, let me know!
It was a happy day at the mailbox. Thankfully my mailman left my box of books in the hallway instead of locking it up or I wouldn’t have this lovely picture today. Yes, I’m back to the floor. There is no room on my bookshelf for these new books. I really have to read faster or admit defeat and buy another shelf.
And, yes that is another copy of All These Things I’ve Done. I mentioned I ended up somehow trading for two copies and that I won a third copy in a giveaway. Well, now I officially have the two trade copies, so I’ll be posting a Quickie Giveaway for one of them this weekend.
It is also my second copy of Original Sin, but I traded for that one specifically in order to give it to a certain blogger who is just as huge a fan as I am.
I also want to say a huge “thank you so much” to Britney of I Eat Words. She grabbed a copy of Forever for me from BEA.
So, I think the only ones I’ll be reading soon that I hadn’t already read are Dead Rules which comes out in just over a week and Supernaturally because I just can’t wait to see what happens in this book.
So, even though I got all those lovely books, I won’t be reading them this week. June 14th is a big release day and…
Here are the books I have in my reading pile this week.
(June 12-June 18, 2011)
Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma is first up for the week. I have an eARC from the publisher for review and I’d wanted to read this sooner, but just couldn’t squeeze it in. But I can’t wait to read it this weekend.
This is another book I’ve spotlighted for my Book Watch post so I won’t be unnecessarily redundant, but I’ve read a bit of it, and it’s just so amazing already. This is definitely going to be a book that will be talked about, and not just for its gorgeous cover.
And even in a week of some of my favorite series sequels this is one I won’t be setting aside.

Next up is The Demon’s Surrender by Sarah Rees Brennan. It is the final book in the Demon’s Lexicon trilogy and is told from Sin’s perspective, which automatically makes this a book I’m dying to read. I want to know if she really is the bad girl she appears to be or if there’s just a bit more to her than we’ve gotten a chance to know so far.
I fell in love with this series and the ultimate bad boy Nick Ryves. And I am really hoping the author isn’t too cruel with her ending. I’m not sure how devastated I can stand to be.
I loved the fact that each book was told from a different character’s perspective, although I would have loved there to be another book told from Alan’s. He’s just so sneaky, that Alan, and I would have loved a peek inside his mind.
And yes, I’m putting this before Passion because I just know I’d be thinking about this the whole time I was reading that book if I switched the order.
And my third read is Passion by Lauren Kate. I am really excited to read this book, although I think I’m anticipating the next book even more. I just have a feeling that there won’t be much resolution when I get to this book’s end.
I love the fact that we will be getting a peek at the past, but I’m more concerned with what will happen with Daniel and Lucy in the present. So, I’m keeping fingers crossed that this one will give me some peace of find as the ending of Torment was just that – tormenting. And Daniel drove me absolutely crazy in book two.
I am adding a fourth book this week. I think the reads will go very quickly so I think I can add another book to the pile. I’m not sure I’ll have all my reviews done, but at least I’ll have read these much anticipated books.
From Bad to Cursed by Katie Alender is my final book on the pile this week. I recently read Bad Girls Don’t Die and I cannot wait to find out what happens next in this series. I’m so glad that I didn’t have the long wait that some had between that first book and this one.
Although that one ended without all that cliffhanger-y stuff, just knowing this book was coming out would have made the wait intolerable.
I did not read any excerpts or reviews so I have no idea other than what the Goodreads description offers, but I am excited to find out how Kasey’s doing and what happens next with Alexis. And I really, really, really hope there are no dolls in this one.
So, I know last week was a slow week for reviews on the blog, but there should be a whole bunch this week as all these books are being released. I spent last week mostly reading books releasing in the far distant future, but at least I have three reviews sitting in drafts waiting to be scheduled down the road.
Just be prepared as three of the four books above are sequels for series that I am a huge fangirl for, so there is likely to be way more gushing than analysis on these.
Wishful Thinking reads:
Hourglass by Myra McEntire. I had this forever, but just could not get the time to read it in advance of release date. I really do want to read this badly, but slacker that I am just couldn’t get to it in time. So I have it at the top of my Wishful Thinking list with the hope that I can read it soon.
Trial by Fire by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I started reading this awhile back but then got sidetracked. I can’t believe it’s releasing this week! Time flies. I really hope to re-read Raised by Wolves and then read Trial by Fire next week.
And as I mentioned above, I really want to read Supernaturally by Kiersten White and Dead Rules by Randy Russell. But as I already have four books on the pile, I’ll probably be reading these next weekend instead.
Those left behind:
I went completely off schedule last week and read a few books that weren’t on the pile. And because I was one of the worst readers during the read-a-thon my books carried over into the week so I did not get a chance to read all the books in My Reading Pile Last week.
So, I hope to read the two I missed this weekend, along with Imaginary Girls and get my reviews up some time this week.
