Release day is almost here! It’s almost HERE!!!!

I am totally stoked that THE IRON TRAITOR is releasing this week. I have had it pre-ordered for ages and ages and I am so excited to finally be able to own a finished copy.

I love, love, love this spinoff series and I cannot wait until everyone gets the chance to read this second book, to find out what happens with Keirran and Ethan. I am reading it right now and it’s making me very, very nervous. I’m sort of afraid of how it will end and whether I’ll be screaming in frustration while I wait for the next book.

As I have spotlighted this amazing book for my Book Watch post, I won’t ramble on about it right now. Especially as I’m so tempted to talk about what I’m reading, what’s happening, and what I think is going to happen.

So I will just say once again that while I am anxiously awaiting all the books I have on order, I am ecstatic that THE IRON TRAITOR will be in my possession in just a few short days.

    Description…

In the real world, when you vanish into thin air for a week, people tend to notice.

After his unexpected journey into the lands of the fey, Ethan Chase just wants to get back to normal. Well, as “normal” as you can be when you see faeries every day of your life. Suddenly the former loner with the bad reputation has someone to try for-his girlfriend, Kenzie. Never mind that he’s forbidden to see her again.

But when your name is Ethan Chase and your sister is one of the most powerful faeries in the Nevernever, “normal” simply isn’t to be. For Ethan’s nephew, Keirran, is missing, and may be on the verge of doing something unthinkable in the name of saving his own love. Something that will fracture the human and faery worlds forever, and give rise to the dangerous fey known as the Forgotten. As Ethan’s and Keirran’s fates entwine and Keirran slips further into darkness, Ethan’s next choice may decide the fate of them all.

In the Age of Love and Chocolate

    addtogoodreads

IN THE AGE OF LOVE AND CHOCOLATE by Gabrielle Zevin will be released in the U.S. on October 29, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR), the print edition is 304 pages.

IN THE AGE OF LOVE AND CHOCOLATE is the third and final book in author Gabrielle Zevin’s Birthright series.

    Dots_Divider

I have fallen behind on this series, but there was no way I wasn’t going to pre-order this final book in the trilogy – IN THE AGE OF LOVE AND CHOCOLATE. And I can’t wait for it to download on Monday Midnight.

Of course I am kicking myself for taking a peek at the description which is SUPER SPOILER-Y for a certain event that happened in book two. And which makes me that much more curious about what the “misjudgment” is that “leaves Anya fighting for her life.”

I had no idea this was only a three-book series. But now that this final book is releasing I will definitely have to read it to its conclusion. I love this author’s voice and I was fascinated by this series’ premise which is so very different than any other YA book I’ve read. I both listened to and read the first book in this series, and I plan on listening to both subsequent books in audio format.

So, even though I will be adding this to my Kindle book collection, I will be ordering the audio from iTunes on release date. And hopefully I’ll be able to listen to both books in early November and find out where Anya’s choices have led her.

    Description…

All These Things I’ve Done, the first novel in the Birthright series, introduced us to timeless heroine Anya Balanchine, a plucky sixteen year old with the heart of a girl and the responsibilities of a grown woman. Now eighteen, life has been more bitter than sweet for Anya. She has lost her parents and her grandmother, and has spent the better part of her high school years in trouble with the law. Perhaps hardest of all, her decision to open a nightclub with her old nemesis Charles Delacroix has cost Anya her relationship with Win.

Still, it is Anya’s nature to soldier on. She puts the loss of Win behind her and focuses on her work. Against the odds, the nightclub becomes an enormous success, and Anya feels like she is on her way and that nothing will ever go wrong for her again. But after a terrible misjudgment leaves Anya fighting for her life, she is forced to reckon with her choices and to let people help her for the first time in her life.

In the Age of Love and Chocolate is the story of growing up and learning what love really is. It showcases the best of Gabrielle Zevin’s writing for young adults: the intricate characterization of Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac and the big-heartedness of Elsewhere. It will make you remember why you loved her writing in the first place.

    Sentinel

    addtogoodreads

SENTINEL by Jennifer L. Armentrout will be released in the U.S. on November 2, 2013 in paperback format. It is currently available to pre-order online at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Spencer Hill Press, the print edition is 360 pages.

SENTINEL is the fifth and final book in author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Covenant series.

    Dots_Divider

I don’t have SENTINEL pre-ordered as it’s not yet available to pre-order in Kindle format. But as soon as it is available to buy, I will be adding this to my collection.

I cannot believe that this is the fifth book in the series. What’s more, I cannot believe how far behind I am on this series that I’d been dying to read ever since I first learned about it. But I have to catch up. I have to know what’s been happening with Alex. I have to know if Aiden is still in the picture.

I have not read the description, though I couldn’t help but see its first line which mentions something about a war. *GULP.* So I don’t know what’s in store for any of the characters in this final book.

And as I haven’t taken a series to its conclusion with this author, I don’t know whether she’ll be kind or cruel to her characters. But I am hoping for a happily-ish ever after. Because from the moment I met Aiden I wanted one for him and Alex.

Since I am so far behind it might take awhile for me to get caught up. But I don’t see it as a challenge to do so… it’s more like an adventure. And I plan on restarting this series from the beginning and taking it to its end this December.

    Description…

    It’s a beautiful day for a war.

As the mortal world slowly slips into chaos of the godly kind, Alexandria Andros must overcome a stunning defeat that has left her shaken and in doubt of their ability to end this war once and for all.

And with all the obstacles between Alex and her happily-ever-after with the swoonworthy Aiden St. Delphi, they must now trust a deadly foe as they travel deep into the Underworld to release one of the most dangerous gods of all time.

In the stunning, action-packed climax to the bestselling Covenant series, Alex must face a terrible choice: the destruction of everything and everyone she holds dear… or the end of herself.

    Horde

    addtogoodreads

HORDE by Ann Aguirre will be released in the U.S. on October 29, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Feiwel & Friends, the print edition is 432 pages.

HORDE is the third and final full-length book in author Ann Aguirre’s Razorland trilogy.

    Dots_Divider

I own each of the books in this series… well, I will once HORDE downloads to my Kindle this Tuesday… but I haven’t yet started it. I just know that this series is going to be awesome so I’ve added each book to my collection on its release date.

It sounds dark and gritty and chilling and action-packed. It’s a world I desperately want to visit. Okay, maybe not in reality, but definitely in fiction. And I’m excited to be able to read this series all at once from start to finish, meet Deuce, Fade, Stalker and Tegan and find out who are the victors.

The title of this final book sounds ominous. So I’m not entirely sure that all the characters will survive. But as I have not yet read a book by Ann Aguirre, I don’t know whether she’ll leave me in tears or shouting, “Yesssss!” at the series conclusion.

I love kick-a** battles, I love dark storylines. So I cannot wait to finally start this one and see just how “epic” it is.

    Description…

The epic conclusion to the USA Today bestselling trilogy.

    The horde is coming.

Salvation is surrounded, monsters at the gates, and this time, they’re not going away. When Deuce, Fade, Stalker and Tegan set out, the odds are against them. But the odds have been stacked against Deuce from the moment she was born. She might not be a Huntress anymore, but she doesn’t run. With her knives in hand and her companions at her side, she will not falter, whether fighting for her life or Fade’s love.

Ahead, the battle of a lifetime awaits. Freaks are everywhere, attacking settlements, setting up scouts, perimeters, and patrols. There hasn’t been a war like this in centuries, and humans have forgotten how to stand and fight. Unless Deuce can lead them.

This time, however, more than the fate of a single enclave or outpost hangs in the balance. This time, Deuce carries the banner for the survival of all humanity.

    The Shadowhunters Codex

    addtogoodreads

THE SHADOWHUNTER’S CODEX by Cassandra Clare and Joshua Lewis will be released in the U.S. on October 29, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON (a deluxe edition is also available) and BARNES & NOBLE (a special edition is also available).

Published by Margaret K. McElderry Books, the print edition is 288 pages.

    Dots_Divider

I am really curious to see what this illustrated guide looks like on my Kindle. Yes, I pre-ordered the eBook version of THE SHADOWHUNTER’S CODEX, not the print edition. So I think I need to charge up my Kindle Fire before its release date so I can take a peek.

I am not someone who typically buys illustrated guides. I’m not sure I ever was, even as a child. But I am curious about Clary’s sketches. I am curious to see what other information about the Shadowhunters is included in this guide. And I want to hang on to this world for just a little bit longer.

I have a feeling the artwork in this book will be stunning and the special edition and deluxe edition will be even more gorgeous. But as I am far more likely to read and keep it if its in electronic format I decided to test that edition out.

While this is not the type of book I’d read cover to cover, I will definitely be perusing it when it downloads on Monday Midnight.

    Description…

Delve into the details of all things Shadowhunter with this illustrated guide to the knowledge and lore of the Shadowhunter world.

Since the thirteenth century, the Shadowhunter’s Codex has been the one and only manual for Shadowhunters looking to brush up on their demon languages, learn proper stele use, and discover just what exactly a pyxis is. Featured in both The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices, this guide is a necessity for any young Nephilim on their journey to becoming a Shadowhunter. Beautifully illustrated, the Codex contains images of the famous Shadowhunter homeland of Idris, as well as depictions of demons and other Downworlders.

But this isn’t just any copy of The Shadowhunter’s Codex. It’s Clary’s copy, and as an artist herself, she’s sketched pictures of her friends and family in the book, and scrawled helpful advice in the margins. Of course, she couldn’t exactly stop Jace or Simon from adding their thoughts either. Part encyclopedia, part history, part training manual—complete with commentary from Shadowhunters who have seen it all—this beautiful guide is a perfect supplement to the #1 New York Times bestselling series.

RELIC (Book of Eva #1) by Heather Terrell

    Dots_Divider

I could have sworn I’d pre-ordered WATERFELL by Amalie Howard, but since I haven’t I will be waiting until just after its release date to order it for my Kindle. I’ve kind of gone a little spend crazy this month and I want to wait for November 1st before adding yet another item on my credit card statement.

I will also likely buy ALTERED since I have CREWEL on my Kindle, even though I haven’t yet had the chance to read it. The description for the sequel sounds epic, so I can’t imagine not having it as part of my collection.

There are a pretty decent number of books releasing this week, but thankfully it’s not an overwhelming number. So I’m hopeful of getting caught up just a little bit in anticipation of the crazy number of books releasing in 2014.

Last week I did have another book on order, BLACK AND BLUE (Otherworld Assassin #2) by Gena Showalter. But as it isn’t a YA title I figured I’d just mention it here rather than list it as “missing” above.

And, while I don’t normally list eNovellas, I just have to mention, to anyone who may have missed it, THE MOTH IN THE MIRROR (Splintered #1.5) by A.G. Howard released last week. I’ve been trying to decide whether to read it before or after I read UNHINGED. I’m definitely thinking before.

Anyway… I hope you have all your bookish pre-orders lined up for the week. And if there are any books I’ve missed, please, please, please let me know.

    Happy bookish buying!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #94

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of October 16th-October 22nd that I have pre-ordered.

Crewel by Gennifer Albin will be released in the U.S. on October 16, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR), the print edition is 368 pages.

Crewel is the first book in a new series, Crewel World, by the author.

    ***

I’ve been seeing CREWEL crop up on blogs all around the blogosphere. While I haven’t read any reviews, I saw it was getting high marks so I checked it out on Goodreads. And I was very intrigued by the description so I decided to pre-order it.

Being able to “weave time with matter” sounds absolutely fascinating. While I haven’t the first clue what having that ability means to the story, I definitely want to find out just what it does mean. All I know for certain is that Adelice has that ability, she doesn’t want it, and the Guild will be coming after her because she does.

The description hints that becoming a Spinster is something there’s no escape from, so unless Adelice decides she wants to control people she’ll have to go on the run. And quickly.

CREWEL’s description is a definite tease. I have no idea just what the story encompasses – whether it’s Adelice’s adventure as she attempts to hide from the Guild, whether it’s one in which she’s caught and forced against her will to work as a Spinster, or whether it’s something entirely different.

Whatever direction this story may take, I can’t wait to find out. Which means I may just have to take a quick peek when it downloads to my Kindle on Monday night.

Break My Heart 1,000 Times by Daniel Waters will be released in the U.S. on October 16, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Hyperion Books for Children, the print edition is 352 pages.

    ***

I am so completely curious about BREAK MY HEART 1,000 TIMES. And I have been for ages. Ever since I first saw the cover and glanced at the description on Goodreads. So, of course I had to pre-order it and make it mine.

Because I want to know why the ghosts are gaining power. I want to know what this “sinister plot” is that Veronica and Kirk uncover. And I want to know whether Veronica’s teacher succeeds in his plan to make her the host for his dead daughter.

When I spotlighted this book for my Book Watch post at the end of September it felt like release date would never get here. Now it’s just about here. And I can finally find out for myself if this is every bit the “creepy and suspenseful thriller” the description promised. Which I hope to do in the next couple of weeks.

Second Chance by Heather Brewer will be released in the U.S. on October 16, 2012 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Dial, the print edition is 276 pages.

Second Chance is the second book in author Heather Brewer’s The Slayer Chronicles.

    ***

I own every book in author Heather Brewer’s The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod series. I own the first book in her Slayer Chronicles. And now I have SECOND CHANCE pre-ordered. Yet I’ve only read just one-and-a-half books total from both series.

So I have some serious catching up to do. But I loved the author’s writing and characters. I thought the first book in Vlad Tod’s series that I had read was absolutely adorable. And so I just couldn’t resist buying up all books in the series with the hope of reading them back-to-back one day.

And when I learned that Joss was going to get his very own spinoff series, I was stoked and just had to buy up those books too. Because I thought it would be awesome to see things from his perspective, to see what life was like for Joss as a Slayer and to see if there were any other peeks at Vlad Tod that might not exist in that first series.

This second installment in the Slayer Chronicles sounds just as entertaining as the first. Murders are being committed in New York City. Joss must determine if a vampire is behind the killings. And it’s up to him to be the savior or risk losing his status as a Slayer.

I am seriously considering just jumping right into Joss’s series so I don’t have to wait too long to find out whether he is able to keep everyone safe and remain a Slayer. If I do decide to read things just a bit out of order, then I might just get the chance to read SECOND CHANGE next month.

Hidden by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast will be released in the U.S. on October 16, 2012 in hardcover, audio and eBook format. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the print edition is 320 pages.

Hidden is the tenth book in the authors House of Night series.

    ***

I’ve fallen a bit behind on the House of Night series but decided to pre-order HIDDEN regardless. I have invested quite a bit of time into this series and I’m just so curious to find out where it’s headed and whether this book is the final installment in the series. Though it doesn’t sound like it will be.

I did take a peek at the description even though I hadn’t read the previous book in the series and it seems that a certain wicked character’s true nature has been revealed to the Vampyre High Council. And according to the description “chaos reigns” because this character isn’t “going down without a fight.”

The description does not reveal what’s happening with Zoey, Stevie Rae or any of the other characters. So I am a bit curious as to whether they did make it into this tenth book. Though if it is Zoey on the cover, then she has made it to book ten and she looks seriously mad about something….

I don’t know when I’ll get the chance to read this next installment, but as I’d heard the previous one was good, I may try to read that one this winter so I can get caught up on the series before book eleven – if there is a book eleven – gets released.

There are a huge number of books releasing this week, but I’ve only pre-ordered four of them. I just haven’t had the time to take a longer look at the other books of note to see if they’re books I must add to my collection. Though I hope to get the chance this week.

I did see CREWEL all over the blogosphere this past month and it sounded awesome so I decided to pre-order it. And I’m hoping at least a couple of the remaining six books are ones that I must buy.

But I am glad that I only have four books pre-ordered this week as I am coming to the harsh realization that I’ll never get caught up on my TBR pile if my book buying continues to exceed my book reading every single week.

While I have increased the number of books I’ve been reading each week, I still haven’t managed to devour more than four, so I’m hopeful that I can keep my book purchases to four books or less for at least the rest of the year. But I’m just not sure that’s possible.

    We shall see….

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
