Book Watch: Releasing This Week #183

    BWRTWIcy

Below are the (mostly) YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of July 1st-July 7th that I have pre-ordered.

    Sinner

    AddtoGRicy

SINNER by Maggie Stiefvater will be released in the U.S. on July 1, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Scholastic Press, the print edition is 368 pages.

SINNER is standalone companion novel to Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver Trilogy.

I cannot wait for SINNER to be released and for my copy to download to my Kindle. I LOVED this series by the author and one of my most favorite characters was Cole St. Clair.

I am so excited to see what’s been happening with him. I was so sure, when reading the final book in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, that his story had come to an end. Especially with the way things seemed to be going. Of course they didn’t. Thankfully. But I’m even more excited that his story is continuing.

I can’t wait to find out why he’s in danger. I can’t wait to see what happens with Isabel. Heck… I can’t wait to read this and spend just a few more hours with Cole, in this world, which I have loved for such a long time. And I don’t think it can be avoided. I think I’m going to have to sneak this one on the pile this week.

    Description…

A standalone companion book to the internationally bestselling Shiver Trilogy.

Sinner follows Cole St. Clair, a pivotal character from the #1 New York Times bestselling Shiver Trilogy. Everybody thinks they know Cole’s story. Stardom. Addiction. Downfall. Disappearance. But only a few people know Cole’s darkest secret — his ability to shift into a wolf. One of these people is Isabel. At one point, they may have even loved each other. But that feels like a lifetime ago. Now Cole is back. Back in the spotlight. Back in the danger zone. Back in Isabel’s life. Can this sinner be saved?

    On the Fence

    AddtoGRicy

ON THE FENCE by Kasie West will be released in the U.S. on July 1, 2014 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 304 pages.

I am super excited for the release of ON THE FENCE by Kasie West. I got the chance to read this early and I took full advantage of that opportunity. Of course it’s now been ages since I read it, but I remember it and I remember falling in love with this story. It was sweet and romantic and I adored Charlie and Braden.

I loved their late night chats by the fence. I loved how she started to fall in love with him. I loved how… okay, so I’m not going to keep talking about what I loved because I will likely reveal what secrets were shared and what happened in the end. But I just have to add that it was an engaging and heartwarming story.

And while I may not be reading it again this week, I’m so thrilled to be able to finally get the finished copy for my collection because I definitely will be reading it again some day soon. Kasie West is an amazing writer, I’ve loved everything she’s written, and I can’t wait for everyone to get the chance to read this book and see just how awesome it is.

    Description…

    She’s a tomboy. He’s the boy next door…

Charlie Reynolds can outrun, outscore, and outwit every boy she knows. But when it comes to being a girl, Charlie doesn’t know the first thing about anything. So when she starts working at a chichi boutique to pay off a speeding ticket, she finds herself in a strange new world. To cope with the stress of her new reality, Charlie takes to spending nights chatting with her neighbor Braden through the fence between their yards. As she grows to depend on their nightly Fence Chats, she realizes she’s got a bigger problem than speeding tickets-she’s falling for Braden. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.

Fun, original, and endearing, On the Fence is a romantic comedy about finding yourself and finding love where you least expect.

    Parting words…

Next week is insane. There are a million books releasing on July 8th. So I’m so glad that there aren’t too many books coming out this week that are on my radar. Though it’s always possible I missed a few, like I did last week.

I only have two books – and two eBook novellas – pre-ordered that I know of. But there could be one or two more. And I will be adding THE VANISHING SEASON by Jodi Lynn Anderson to the collection as it sounds so awesome, and most likely Rachel Carter’s FIND ME WHERE THE WATER ENDS, as I own the first two books in that series.

There are a few others that look really good, but as I am trying to hold to a budget for the next couple of months, I’m going to wait as long as possible before I click to buy.

Anyway… I hope that I didn’t miss any new releases. I hope that if you are awaiting one of this week’s releases it will be in your bookish hands and you won’t have to wait much longer to dive in. I hope that the books you have on your radar are every bit as amazing as you hoped they’d be.

And if it is one of your books that is releasing this week, happy book birthday to you!

    DividerIcy

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #101

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of December 4th-December 10th that I have pre-ordered.

THE ALMOST TRUTH by Eileen Cook was released in the U.S. on December 4, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 256 pages.

    ***

I am so happy that THE ALMOST TRUTH released this week. I’d had this book on my radar for ages and it looks like so much fun. I pre-ordered it a month ago and was thrilled when it finally downloaded on my Kindle on Monday midnight.

I love that this story is about a girl with a less than stellar home life – a “delusional mom” and a “jailbird dad” – who decides to pull a con to get back her life savings. Savings that were stolen by her not-so-great mom.

I cannot imagine what kind of con she’ll have to pull in order to get back the money she lost. And I can’t imagine how, in the middle of it all, she manages fall for a boy who happens to be the “wrong boy.” Of course this con is doomed to backfire. But I can’t wait to see just how it all goes down.

This book sounds like it will a super quick read. And I just know that I’m going to have a lot of fun reading it and getting those answers for myself.

While I won’t be able to officially add it to the pile this month, I just may end up going off-pile to read it.

NEVER LET YOU GO by Emma Carlson Berne was released in the U.S. on December 4, 2012 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 256 pages.

    ***

NEVER LET YOU GO looks so freaking amazing. I already rambled about it endlessly in my Book Watch post. But I’m so super psyched that it now lives on my Kindle. Even though it does give me the chills.

I can’t wait to find out just how “horribly wrong” the love triangle goes in this story. I can’t imagine things will end anywhere in the neighborhood of “happily ever after.” And I’m excited to read a story that just might be a bit more grim than the books I typically read.

Two characters with chemistry and one who “doesn’t like to be ignored” does not sound like the best mix. And I can’t wait to see just what Anna does when Megan and Jordan make her feel left out.

I love that the description promises a “very dark turn” and I can’t wait to take that turn with the characters. I really hope to be able to do so in the next couple of weeks.

THE IMMORTAL CIRCUS by A.R Kahler was released in the U.S. on December 4, 2012 in serial Kindle eBook format only. It is currently available to pre-order online exclusively at Amazon.

The Kindle eBook is published by 47North.

    ***

When I first learned of THE IMMORTAL CIRUS I was so curious about it. I have read a few serial novels of the dark and morbid variety and I absolutely loved them. So I couldn’t wait to find out more about this book.

The description had me instantly intrigued. A circus led by Mab, the Faerie Queen of the Winter Court. Mysterious deaths. A main character with a “bloody past.” And an rivalry between the courts. What more could I want in a book? An invitation.

And the description offers just that. “The show’s just beginning. Step right up…”

The first episode downloaded on my Kindle and I’m just dying to dive right in. But knowing I’ll have to wait two weeks before the next episode downloads, I may read it closer to that release date so the wait won’t be so torturous. But I might just give in. I’m so very tempted.

RADIANT by Cynthia Hand was released in the U.S. on December 4, 2012 in eBook format only. It is currently available to pre-order online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

The eBook is published by HarperTeen.

RADIANT is an eBook novella in author Cynthia Hand’s UNEARTHLY series. It is set between books two and three. The third and final book in the series, BOUNDLESS, is slated for release on January 22, 2013.

    ***

When I heard that there was going to be an eNovella in the UNEARTHLY series entitled RADIANT I was so excited. I love this series by the author and am so unbelievably sad that it’s ending.

It will be so interesting to read this story that takes place outside of Wyoming, in a totally different setting. But I can’t wait.

I love that it alternates between Clara and Angela’s perspectives. But of course what I’m really dying to find out is what secret Angela’s been keeping about this “mysterious guy” and just how this summer “changes their lives forever.”

I plan on reading this novella next week because there is no way I could wait any longer than that.

BREATHLESS by Sophie Jordan was released in the U.S. on December 4, 2012 in eBook format only. It is currently available to pre-order online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

The eBook is published by HarperCollins.

BREATHLESS is a standalone eBook novella set in the author’s FIRELIGHT series.

    ***

Yes, I just had to buy BREATHLESS even though I haven’t yet read any of the books in the FIRELIGHT series. But I do own them all. So of course I had to pre-order this eNovella too.

And as it is a standalone, it will be the perfect introduction to the series. Even the description agrees.

I am totally curious to find out just what Az is and whether she’ll be able to keep her secret from Tate. The fact that this short story is a star-crossed love story totally has me desperate to read it.

For a moment I thought that I might wait until I read the series before picking up this novella, but I don’t think I can. Wait, that is. I think I want to read it right now.

WOLF PACT (Part Four) by Melissa de la Cruz was released in the U.S. on December 4, 2012 in eBook format only. It is currently available to pre-order online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

The eBook is published by Disney Hyperion.

WOLF PACT Part 4 is the final of four installments from author Melissa de la Cruz’s WOLF PACT.

    ***

Yay! The final installment of WOLF PACT released this week. That means I can now read it in its entirety. Without waiting for each installment. I hate waiting.

I have been wanting to read Bliss’s story ever since I heard there would be one. And now I finally can. I’m just so curious to see what happens to her and Lawson over the course of this four-part novel.

I love that they’re able to travel back in time… though I’m really curious how they make that happen. And I can’t wait to see if they are able to “right the wrongs of their past.”

Hopefully I’ll be able to read this later this month. It has been ages since I’ve read a book by this author and I’m desperate to get back into her amazing stories.

This is an AWESOME week for releases. I keep fighting the urge to start reading more than one of the books I now have living on my Kindle. But I’m trying so very hard to stay on pile.

Though it’s not working too well. Since a book that’s officially releasing next week showed up on my Kindle on Tuesday… apparently. (I didn’t find out it was there until late last night.) So of course I had to start reading it.

    Because it’s OPAL by Jennifer L. Armentrout. That’s right, a week early. And I just can’t resist. I can’t!

I really hope to read all the books that have released this week in the next month or two. But I think I may be overly hopeful. We shall see. I have so many books I’m just dying to read that I’ve had for a bit longer, and I think I owe it to those books to keep them closer to the top of the pile.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will be just a few less releases in the next couple of weeks because I know January is packed full of new releases that I must own. And I’m trying really, really hard to curb my book buying.

But that, too, doesn’t seem to be working too well.

    Anyway…

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Book Watch: Never Let You Go

NEVER LET YOU GO by Emma Carlson Berne will be released in the U.S. on December 4, 2012 in paperback and eBook formats.

It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 256 pages.

    ***

I only just discovered NEVER LET YOU GO by author Emma Carlson Berne. But when I saw this intense looking cover and read the description it became one of those – oh my gosh I HAVE to have this – kind of books. So, of course that meant I had to spotlight it this week. Because, holy wow it looks AWESOME!

Any book that starts its description off with the words “horribly wrong” is one that immediately draws my interest. Of course the fact that there’s a “rugged summer-hand” in this book does not hurt. Not at all.

But it’s the “dark turn” that makes this book one I just have to dive into. A friend betrayed seeking vengeance sound so disturbing… disturbingly good, that is.

I can’t wait to meet Anna and Megan. I can’t wait to find out what happens at the farm that summer. The description promises suspense and I am already anxious. So that is most definitely a good sign.

I am so glad I stumbled upon NEVER LET YOU GO. Even the title sets the mood for this dark tale. It is the book I am most anxious for the week of December 4th, which is just under three weeks away. And it is the perfect type of story to devour this holiday season.

    About the Book

    Goodreads Description:

A love triangle goes horribly wrong in this dark, romantic suspense-thriller from the author of Still Waters.

Megan never meant to hurt her best friend, Anna. She made a mistake, and she’s spent all year trying to regain Anna’s trust. So when Anna invites her to spend the summer on her uncle’s farm, Megan is excited…and relieved. The past is finally behind them.

On the farm, Anna quickly falls for Jordan, a rugged summer-hand. Megan and Jordan have their own spark, but Megan’s betrayed Anna once before and she’s not about to do it again.

Still, the more time that Megan and Jordan spend together, the harder it is to deny their chemistry. But Anna doesn’t like to be ignored—and she doesn’t forgive and forget. What started out as the perfect summer is about to take a very dark turn….

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #51

Below are the YA books coming out this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of December 20th-December 26th that I have pre-ordered.

    ***

Bleeding Hearts by Alyxandra Harvey will be released in the U.S. on December 20, 2011 in hardcover, paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble in all formats.

Published by Walker Books for Young readers, the print edition is 304 pages.

Bleeding Hearts is the fourth book in the Drake Chronicles by author Alyxandra Harvey.

    ***

I love the Drake Chronicles series by author Alyxandra Harvey. I fell in love with it before I started blogging so it has an extra special place in my heart because I discovered it on my own.

And I love this cover for Bleeding Hearts, though apparently Amazon downloaded the other – possibly UK – version for me back in October. I’ve been trying to get this version to pre-order but it won’t let me as it says I already own it. I am going to keep trying.

I can’t wait to read this installment about Connor Drake and Christabel – Lucy’s cousin. In Bleeding Hearts, Christabel is taken by the Hel Blar who mistake her for Lucy and is infected by them.

I really hope that Connor is able to save her, even if her new existence is as a vampire and not a human. And I hope we get a peek at Lucy and Solange and all the rest of the yummy Drake boys in this next book.

Still Waters by Emma Carlson Berne will be released in the U.S. on December 20, 2011 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 240 pages.

    ***

Still Waters sounds like an eerie book and one I can’t wait to read. I had heard about it a month or so ago when I was offered it in a trade, but as I knew I wouldn’t get to read it before release, I pre-ordered the finished copy for my Kindle.

Any book with a description that has the phrase “what lies beneath” always gives me the heebie-jeebies. But this just sounds so unbelievably awesome. I wish I had heard about it sooner so I could have requested a review copy, as this sounds like a perfect book for me.

Hannah and Colin head off to a remote lake house for a romantic weekend before he goes to college. And of course things take a turn for the worse almost immediately. According to the description the town doesn’t appear on any map, the house looks lived in yet it’s supposed to have been unoccupied and Colin starts acting weird.

I can’t wait to find out about Colin’s dark side and just what ends up haunting Hannah. I hope to squeeze this book in among my packed schedule for January reads because this is one that I won’t want to miss.

On a Dark Wing by Jordan Dane will be released in the U.S. on December 20, 2011 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Harlequin TEEN, the print edition is 320 pages.

The official release date for On a Dark Wing is December 27th, 2011, but it will be available for purchase on the 20th. I’ve included it in this week’s Book Watch post as I’ll be receiving my copy on the 20th.

    ***

I can’t wait to see the finished copy of On a Dark Wing both electronically and in print. I have the eARC courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley and I’m dying to find out whether each new chapter has an increasing number of ravens like the eARC does.

My Kindle version downloads on the 20th, so I’ll be checking that out, but I have got to get my hands on the print edition to see if it differs in any way. I just think it’s a really cool touch. Especially as the ravens are important to the story.

I have almost finished reading On a Dark Wing, so I have no need to guess what this story is about, but I still don’t have the first clue how it will all end. It’s a complete mystery. Which is a good thing.

As I don’t want to say too much here about what I already know, I’ll just stick with what is revealed in the description.

Abbey Chandler nearly died in a car accident that she was in with her mother. While her mom died, she survived. But Death became fascinated with her. And because of this, Death stalks a boy Abbey has been crushing on – Nate Holden.

With Death and his ravens having set their sights on Nate, his life is now at risk. And Abbey must figure out what she can do to save him.

I really can’t wait to get back to reading this book so that I can find out exactly how everything ends. While I know some more about the story than what’s been revealed, I don’t know what happens to Abbey or Nate at the story’s end.

Zombie Tag by Hannah Moskowitz will be released in the U.S. on December 20, 2011 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order at Amazon and Barnes & Noble in both formats.

Published by Roaring Book Press, the print edition is 240 pages.

Zombie Tag is a Middle Grade book by author Hannah Moskowitz for children age 9 and older.

    ***

I decided I had to read Zombie Tag the second I heard about it during its cover reveal a few months ago. It just sounded so odd and quirky and yet heartbreaking. And, as soon as I was able, I pre-ordered it for my Kindle.

I don’t read a lot of middle grade books, but this one just seems so interesting. Funny and sad, but definitely interesting. Plus, the author has such a wild imagination and after reading Invincible Summer I had to check out something from her that is aimed at a younger audience.

The story is about a young boy named Wil Lowenstein whose older brother died. To cope with his loss he plays a game with his friends called Zombie Tag. Which is clearly a big influence on him – he wishes his brother could come back from the dead, even if it means he comes back as a zombie. Well, Wil’s wish somehow comes true.

And, of course, Wil’s brother is not the same.

I have a feeling that this book will make me laugh and cry and my heart will break just a little bit for young Wil. But as this book is meant for a middle grade audience, I hope there will be more smiles than tears.

It seems like forever ago when I first heard about Zombie Tag and I can’t wait to finally get the chance to read it.

I am so happy – you have no idea – that I’ll be getting four new books this week. And I’m seriously adding the Vampire Academy: The Ultimate Guide to my holiday gift list, and if I love it in print I will definitely be buying it for the Kindle.

I also wish I could get Torn by Cat Clarke because it looks amazing, but I’m not risking The Book Depository during the holidays so it will definitely have to wait.

It felt like the world tipped on its axis last week when there was not one traditionally published book available for download. But I’m so glad to have new books to add to my collection this week.
