Book Watch: Releasing This Week #140

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of September 3rd-September 9th that I have pre-ordered.

    The Coldest Girl in Coldtown

    addtogoodreads

THE COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN by Holly Black will be released in the U.S. on September 3, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

A paperback edition will be released on September 17, 2013.

Published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 432 pages.

    elements26

I am such a huge fan of author Holly Black that anytime she releases a new book I’ll automatically pre-order it. But THE COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN would have been on my pre-order list regardless, as it sounds awesome.

Any story that’s described as being about “rage and revenge” and “guilt and horror” and “love and loathing” is one that will appeal to me. And any story that promises such a fascinating world of walled cities housing quarantined humans and monsters is one I just have to check out.

I’m curious to know what happened in Tana’s Coldtown, why her ex is infected and just what this mysterious boy’s secret is. As I have avoided any and all ratings and reviews for this book I have no idea what its reception is, but I cannot wait to read it and hopefully fall in love with it later this week.

    All Our Yesterdays

    addtogoodreads

ALL OUR YESTERDAYS by Cristin Terrill will be released in the U.S. on September 3, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Disney-Hyperion, the print edition is 368 pages.

ALL OUR YESTERDAYS is the first book in author Cristin Terrill’s Cassandra Chronicles. The second book in the series, currently untitled, is slated for release in 2014.

    elements26

Since the moment I first saw ALL OUR YESTERDAYS on NetGalley I knew that this would be a book I’d want in my collection. Even before I got the chance to take a peek at it for review I pre-ordered it.

And while I did receive an eARC, I only just got the chance to start reading it. But what little I did read leads me to believe that I’m going to love this book. Yes, right from the start it was just so easy to get caught up in the story, which for me typically means that it will be a book I adore.

I love stories involving time travel and can’t wait to find out if what I think is going to be revealed based upon the description is actually going to happen. I have my suspicions, but as they are potentially spoiler-y I don’t even want to voice them here.

I hope to finish reading this today, so I’ll know whether I was wrong or right, but as I’ve heard whispers about the impact this book had on readers, I have a feeling….

    elements28

    Takedown

    addtogoodreads

TAKEDOWN by Allison van Diepen will be released in the U.S. on September 3, 2013 in hardcover, paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 288 pages.

    elements26

I’ve been a fan of Allison van Diepen for quite a long while and I can’t wait to add TAKEDOWN to my collection this week. I love that this author writes stories that are dark and gritty and I’m excited that this newest release sounds like one of those stories.

It’s not often that I read stories about characters that serve as informants to the police. I don’t typically read books about drug rings, turf wars or vendettas. And I rarely read these types of stories where it’s a teen that’s the central character.

But I am curious about what happens to Darren and whether he’ll be able to do what he needs to do for the police and still keep Jessica safe. The description promises a story that is “fast-paced” and I can’t wait to check it out in a couple of weeks.

    elements28

    Conjured

    addtogoodreads

CONJURED by Sarah Beth Durst will be released in the U.S. on September 3, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Walker Children’s, the print edition is 368 pages.

    elements26

I love author Sarah Beth Durst’s writing and I can’t wait to add CONJURED to my collection this week. I just recently received an eARC for review, though I’ll probably end up reading the finished copy on my Kindle.

The description promises a story that sounds dark, creepy and totally awesome. A magic-wielding serial killer, a hidden but horrifying memory, terrifying visions and dreams that sound more like nightmares.

I cannot wait to meet Eve and find out just why she’s dreaming of “a tattered carnival tent and buttons being sewn into her skin.” I can’t wait to find out just what dark memory she’s hiding and what truth might be “more dangerous than anyone could have ever imagined.”

If I don’t get the chance to read CONJURED this week, I’m definitely going to try and sneak a read in next week, because this sounds way too amazing to keep on the pile.

    elements28

    Scorched

    addtogoodreads

SCORCHED by Mari Mancusi will be released in the U.S. on September 3, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Sourcebooks Fire, the print edition is 352 pages.

    elements26

I love Mari Mancusi’s Blood Coven series and I can’t wait for my pre-order of SCORCHED to download. It was one of those books I automatically purchased because I adore the author’s writing, but after having read the description I’m super excited to check it out.

I have always loved stories about dragons, whether they’re ones where the dragons should be protected or ones where they should be destroyed. And I’m curious to find out whether the dragon in SCORCHED is worthy of Trinity’s protection.

I am also curious as to why Trinity is hearing a voice in her head and what that means for her in this story. Based upon the description I have a feeling this story will be told from three POVs – Trinity, Connor and Caleb – and I can’t wait to meet them all.

    elements28

     Eternity

    addtogoodreads

ETERNITY by Elizabeth Miles will be released in the U.S. on September 3, 2013 in hardcover, paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 336 pages.

ETERNITY is the third and final book in author Elizabeth Miles’ The Fury Trilogy.

    elements26

I own the previous books in this series but I have yet to get the chance to read them. Now that this third and final book in the trilogy, ETERNITY, is releasing this week and will be downloading to my Kindle on Monday Midnight I hope to be able to read the entire series back-to-back-to-back.

I can’t wait to meet Em and Crow and JD. I can’t wait to find out just what games the Furies are playing. And I can’t wait to find out just what is happening with Emily – yes, I took a peek at the description.

The description mentions “secrets and revenge” and “desperate measures” and “fateful choices” and I cannot wait to find out how all of these things come together in this final book in the series. And I can’t wait to see whether Emily will be saved or whether the Furies will be victorious.

    elements28

    Sweet Legacy

    addtogoodreads

SWEET LEGACY by Tera Lynn Childs will be released in the U.S. on September 3, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Katherine Tegen Books, the print edition is 384 pages.

SWEET LEGACY is the third, and final, book in author Tera Lynn Child’s Medusa Girls trilogy.

    elements26

I did not know this was only a trilogy when I pre-ordered SWEET LEGACY. While I have yet to get the chance to read either of the previous books in this series I own them both and can’t wait to read this series in its entirety.

When the first book in the series was released I managed to read the first few chapters so I knew I’d enjoy it. I just didn’t get the chance to finish, even after book two was released. But now that the series is available to read from start to finish I am super excited to read it all at once.

I can’t wait to meet Grace, Gretchen and Greer. I love Greek mythology and cannot wait to discover this author’s interpretation of the myths. As I haven’t read the description for SWEET LEGACY I don’t know what will be happening to the characters in this final book. I don’t even know if this series is told in multiple points of view or if each book is told from a different character POV.

But I love surprises and I can’t wait to be surprised by this series, hopefully, next month.

    elements28

    Eternal

    addtogoodreads

ETERNAL by Kristi Cook will be released in the U.S. on September 3, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 416 pages.

ETERNAL is the third, and final, book in author Krist Cook’s Haven trilogy.

    elements26

I am so behind on this series by Kristi Cook, a situation I must remedy. I read the first book when it was released and loved it, but when the sequel was released a bit later I didn’t have the time to pick it up, though I do own it and plan on reading it. Especially now that ETERNAL, the final book in the series, is set to download to my Kindle this week.

I can’t wait to find out just what has been happening with Violet and Aidan. The description for MIRAGE makes me nervous about whether Aidan and Violet have a future together. But it makes me more nervous about whether Aidan even has a future.

I have no idea what truths will be uncovered in the second book in the series. I have no idea whether Aidan even exists in this third and final book – no I didn’t read the description. But this book’s title, ETERNAL, gives me a little bit of hope that maybe, just maybe, he does.

    elements28

    Gold

    addtogoodreads

GOLD by Talia Vance will be released in the U.S. on September 8, 2013 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in paperback format at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE. (The eBook is available as of today, September 1st.)

Published by Flux, the print edition is 408 pages.

GOLD is the second book in author Talia Vance’s Bandia series. No information is yet available about a sequel.

    elements26

I was so surprised when GOLD downloaded to my Kindle on the 1st. I forgot that sometimes this publisher makes the electronic copies available a week before release date on Amazon. But I am super thrilled to have the finished copy in my collection.

I had the chance to read GOLD super early and fell madly in love with it when I read it way back when. I never thought I’d have been as okay as I was becoming Team Austin, especially after that thing with the horse in SILVER, but the author made it just so easy in this book.

As is typical, as I have already spotlighted GOLD for my Book Watch post a couple of weeks ago, I won’t ramble on about it here. But I will just say that this sequel was amazing and a little bit heartbreaking. And if a third book isn’t on the horizon I think it will kill me. Because I am not at all ready to say goodbye to these characters.

Although I have already read GOLD, I do plan on re-reading it soon. I also plan on re-reading SILVER. They are two books that are totally guilt-free guilty pleasure reads and I cannot wait to rediscover them, hopefully, at the end of this month.

    elements28

The Truth About You and Me

    addtogoodreads

THE TRUTH ABOUT YOU & ME by Amanda Grace will be released in the U.S. on September 8, 2013 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in paperback format at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE. (The eBook is available as of today, September 1st.)

Published by Flux, the print edition is 264 pages.

    elements26

I was super surprised when I saw that THE TRUTH ABOUT YOU & ME downloaded to my Kindle on the 1st. I’d forgotten I pre-ordered it and that this publisher releases the eBooks a week prior to the stated publication date.

But I cannot wait to read this story told in letters. I am curious as to whether I’ll feel heartbroken for these characters or disturbed by the fact that Bennett can’t recognize just how young Madelyn truly is. I suppose it might depend on just how wide the age gap is between the two.

The description already reveals that it is an ill-fated love story and with the fact that there is an apology I’m curious as to just how much trouble Bennett will be in. It leads off with the line that “[s]mart girls aren’t supposed to do stupid things” but at sixteen I can’t imagine how much of a choice Madelyn had about falling in love.

I am more curious to see how I’ll react to this story of forbidden romance as an adult. I know as a teen I would have seen it as romantic and tragic and would not have seen anything wrong with an older man in a position of authority falling in love with a young girl. Now I’m not sure I’ll be able to look past the fact that Bennett should have known better in order to be able to connect with this story, even if I could relate to Madelyn.

And because I’m wildly curious, I may just have to read THE TRUTH ABOUT YOU & ME later this week.

    elements26

With ten books pre-ordered and nineteen other books releasing this week, a few of which I just know I’m going to order, this week is almost as insane as last week.

I am now officially buried under books.

And with eight of those pre-orders in the TBR pile and one book currently being read, I don’t think I’ll find myself unburied for a long, long time.

Last week I thought I’d only be adding six books to my collection this week. I was so very, very wrong. And with so many more books releasing in September and October that I’m excited to read, I don’t know if I’ll ever get caught up.

I’d like to say that in 2014 I’ll try to avoid discovering any new debut authors. But if I made that promise to myself, it’s one I know I’d break the instant a new book caught my eye. So I’m not going to even bother.

But I may just have to try and wish list a few books in the coming years if I keep blogging rather than ordering them all for “someday.” Because, at the rate I’m going, I’m not sure if someday will be any day soon.

For now, though, I shall continue to buy every book my heart desires even if that desire exceeds my ability to read those books in the very near future.

Anyway… If you’ve been as eager to read THE COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN as I’ve been or if there are any other of this week’s releases that you’ve been dying to read, I’d love to know!

    elements26

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #127

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of June 4th-June 10th that I have pre-ordered.

    05

    Elegy

    addtogoodreads

ELEGY by Tara Hudson releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 400 pages.

ELEGY is the third and final book in author Tara Hudson’s Hereafter trilogy.

    Line_001

I’m both happy and sad that ELEGY is releasing this week. I have been waiting for its release to get caught up on the series. But now that it has, I’m not sure I’m ready for it to end.

I did end up reading the description – I couldn’t help myself – and it makes me nervous that maybe Amelia and Joshua won’t get their happily ever afterlife after all. The description mentions “impossible choices” and fighting back, so I’m still going to hold out hope for them both.

I adored the first book in this series, I thought there was a sweetness to it, an innocence, and I cannot wait to find out how this series ends… well, just as soon as I’m able to make myself say goodbye, that is.

    Phoenix

    addtogoodreads

PHOENIX by Elizabeth Richards releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Putnam Juvenile, the print edition is 368 pages.

PHOENIX is the second book in author Elizabeth Richards’ Black City trilogy. The third and final book, currently untitled, is slated for release in 2014.

    Line_001

I only recently read BLACK CITY and I loved the world the author created with the Darklings and Purian Rose. And I loved that the story switched POVs between Ash and Natalie.

I’d hoped to read PHOENIX before its release, but wasn’t able to, but I will definitely be reading it this week. Because I really want to know what happens after that shocking finish to book one.

The description promises an even darker book than the first. And things in the United Sentry States definitely seem to have gotten more chaotic. But what makes me the most anxious is that it talks of a heartbreaking love story.

So, of course, I cannot wait to read this middle book in the trilogy.

    div1

    The Elementals

    addtogoodreads

THE ELEMENTALS by Saundra Mitchell releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Harcourt Children’s Books, the print edition is 304 pages.

THE ELEMENTALS is the third book in author Saundra Mitchell’s The Vespertine series.

    Line_001

I loved Saundra Mitchell’s THE VESPERTINE. And while I am not quite caught up on this series there is no way I wouldn’t add THE ELEMENTALS to my collection this week.

I love how each book in this series involves a new main character. And I cannot wait to meet Kate Witherspoon in this book… and Julian Birch.

I’m curious to see exactly what their powers entail and how they manage to “triumph over death, and over time.” And I’m even more curious to find out what price they’ll have to pay.

    div1

    The Testing

    addtogoodreads

THE TESTING by Joelle Charbonneau releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, the print edition is 352 pages.

THE TESTING is the first book in author Joelle Charbonneau’s new series of the same name. The second book in the series, INDEPENDENT STUDY, is slated for release on January 7, 2014. A prequel novella, THE TESTING GUIDE, was released in April.

    Line_001

I hadn’t heard of THE TESTING until Jaime of Two Chicks on Books told me I had to read it and that it was a must read book. As I hadn’t had an early copy I took her advice and pre-ordered it without actually having read the description.

But now that I have I’m super excited to own it and even more excited to read it. I love the idea that in this future friends could just as easily be enemies and that the planet is a “charred wasteland.”

I love that there are a “chosen few” who must pass a test in order to have the chance at a promising future but that this test might have a darker side. And I can’t wait to meet Cia and Tomas and find out whether Cia chooses “love without truth or life without trust.”

I am now so intrigued by this description I might just have to try and sneak it in later this week.

    div1

    Siege and Storm

    addtogoodreads

SIEGE AND STORM by Leigh Bardugo releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Henry Holt and Co. Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 448 pages.

SIEGE AND STORM is the second full-length book in author Leigh Bardugo’s The Grisha series. The third book, RUIN AND RISING, is slated for release in 2014. There are currently three novellas in this series: THE WITCH OF DUVA, THE TAILOR and THE TOO-CLEVER FOX.

    Line_001

I have heard nothing but amazing things about this series. I even had my hands on an early copy of SIEGE AND STORM due to a trade but passed it on when I knew I wouldn’t get to read the first book in the series before its release.

But I definitely plan on reading this series – I own book one already – so I just had to purchase this second book in the series for when I do get the chance to dive in.

This series sounds epic and a bit different from many of the books I typically read. But I am so very curious to meet Alina and Mal and see what being a Sun Summoner means and just what Alina’s destiny is.

The description mentions a choice between country, power and love and I can’t wait to find out which one Alina chooses in this second book.

    div1

    Tidal

    addtogoodreads

TIDAL by Amanda Hocking releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the print edition is 352 pages.

TIDAL is the third book in author Amanda Hocking’s Watersong series. The fourth and final full-length book, ELEGY, is slated for release on August 6, 2013.

    Line_001

I am super stoked that TIDAL releases today. I had it pre-ordered for my Kindle but I can’t wait for the print edition to be delivered so that it can join the first two books on my book towers.

I already rambled on quite a bit in my Book Watch post the other week, so I won’t go on and on here. This post is long enough already. But I will just say it sounds like things for Gemma are getting even more dangerous and dire so I can’t wait to find out what happens.

Though I may read it closer to the release of ELEGY this August, so I won’t have to suffer from a potential cliffhanger ending.

And I just have to add that this is my favorite cover of the series so far. It seems so much darker than its predecessors, which makes me just a little bit nervous about the direction of this third book.

    div1

    The Keep

    addtogoodreads

THE KEEP by Veronica Wolff releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by NAL Trade, the print edition is 336 pages.

THE KEEP is the fourth book in author Veronica Wolff’s The Watchers series.

    Line_001

I only recently learned that THE KEEP was releasing this week so I ran to Amazon to pre-order it for my Kindle. I am majorly behind on this series but I own every single book and definitely plan on reading them all in a marathon read one of these days.

While I’m not caught up on this series I have read each and every one of the descriptions – I just couldn’t help myself – and I can’t wait to read this installment. It talks of vengeance, deceits and a castle from which the living don’t return.

It also mentions that there may be someone else out for revenge other than Drew. Someone after her.

    div1

    Abandon

ABANDON by Elana Johnson releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover, paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 464 pages.

ABANDON is the third book in author Elana Johnson’s Possession series.

    Line_001

I have not yet met Vi, Jag and Zenn but I own all the books in this series and I’m so excited to meet them all now that ABANDON has released. And having read the description for this third book in the series, I think it may be the most exciting one yet.

I’m so very curious who the traitor is and if his choices bring about the “total destruction” of what Vi has fought for. And I’m super curious to see if Vi, Jag and Zenn are able to work together to help the Resistance.

I seriously love the first three lines of the description. If I hadn’t been sold on this series already, they would have won me over. And they make me even more anxious to read each book and find out whether Vi, Jag and Zenn are successful or if their efforts end in failure.

    Soul Taken

SOUL TAKEN by Katlyn Duncan releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in eBook format only. It is currently available to order online in eBook format at AMAZON.

The eBook is published by Carina.

SOUL TAKEN is the first book in author Katlyn Duncan’s The Life After trilogy.

    Line_001

I very recently learned of SOUL TAKEN by Katlyn Duncan. But with its amazing cover and interesting premise I just had to pre-order it for my Kindle. And I’m super excited to read it.

Even though it’s the first book in the series, because it’s releasing in eBook format only, I won’t have to wait ages for the next installment. Which makes me very, very happy. Because I do not love waiting.

However, I do love the idea that Maggie is a Soul Collector who gets caught in the body of a “mean girl.” I am super curious to see just what life will be like for her in the human world, whether she’ll be able to save the girl’s soul and whether she’ll be able to free her own.

This week is more than insane with the number of books releasing. I am not going to say much here as I think I’ve already said more than enough already. But I’m super excited to read Richelle Mead’s new novel and check out Susan Dennard’s eNovella, both of which I pre-ordered.

And I’m likely going to end up purchasing Sarah Dessen’s THE MOON AND MORE, Avery Williams’ THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF TOMORROW and Jennifer Castle’s YOU LOOK DIFFERENT IN REAL LIFE.

Though I’m glad I didn’t pre-order them or I would never have finished putting together this post. And I’m not sure my Kindle could have handled all the downloads if I had. It was struggling enough when my books started downloading last night. But I’m one second away from clicking the links to buy those titles right now.

I am hopeful I didn’t miss anything releasing this week. Amazon has been a little sketchy lately and I’m not sure I caught every title. But I didn’t forget any of the ones I had pre-ordered… at least I think I didn’t.

But if there are a few awesome books releasing this week that I missed or ones that I did find that you can’t wait to read, I’d love know.

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #57

Below are the YA books coming out this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of January 31st-February 6th that I have pre-ordered.

    ***

Destiny and Deception by Shannon Delany will be released in the U.S. on January 31, 2012 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the print edition is 304 pages.

Destiny and Deception is the fourth full-length book in the 13 to Life series by author Shannon Delany.

    ***

I’ve been a huge fan of this series since I discovered it after I began blogging. I love the world that Jess and the Rusakova’s exist in and can’t wait to read this fourth book in the series. I’ve had the eBook pre-ordered for awhile and I can’t believe release date is almost here.

I won’t talk too much about what I’m hoping for in this book just in case someone hasn’t caught up with the series yet. But I am dying to find out if things are really looking up for Jess and Pietr or if it’s just the calm before the storm.

And from the description there are a few things going on with Alexi that I can’t wait to discover for myself.

Wings of the Wicked by Courtney Allison Moulton will be released in the U.S. on January 31, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available online to pre-order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Katherine Tegen Books, the print edition is 528 pages.

Wings of the Wicked is the sequel to Angelfire by author Courtney Allison Moulton.

    ***

I can’t believe this book releases this week. I also can’t believe I have to wait an entire year until the next book comes out. I am so excited that I’ll have the eBook on my Kindle in less than twenty-four hours because I’m curious to see just what has changed between the ARC and the finished copy.

I just finished reading this and I’m already dying to read it again. I thought Angelfire was awesome. I thought that first book had me tied up in knots in a way that the sequel never could. I was so totally wrong.

The dangers facing Ellie and Will are even more terrifying. Cadan is even more swoon-worthy. And the ending is even more of a killer than I ever thought possible. I’m hanging on by my bitten and ragged fingernails, but only just barely.

New Girl by Paige Harbison will be released in the U.S. on January 31, 2012 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Harlequin TEEN, the print edition is 320 pages.

    ***

I had a chance to read Here Lies Bridget by the author last year and I was excited to see she had another book coming out, so I added it to my pre-orders even without knowing exactly what it’s about.

But after reading the description I can’t wait to read more. I want to find out just how the New Girl is handling life at Manderly Academy where she landed a spot when Becca Normandy went missing. I want to find out just why everyone seems to blame her. I want to see what happens between her and Max Holloway, Becca’s “sort of” boyfriend.

And I want to see if we get to find out the New Girl’s name.

There is just something a little eerie about the description, though I can’t put my finger on it. And so I really want to read New Girl now and find out just why I feel that there is.

Incarnate by Jodi Meadows will be released in the U.S. on January 31, 2012 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at Amazon and in hardcover and eBook formats at Barnes & Noble.

Published by Katherine Tegen Books, the print edition is 384 pages.

Incarnate, the first book in the Newsouls series by author Jodi Meadows is one of the books that can be chosen for the 2012 Debut Author Challenge hosted by Kristi at TheStorySiren.com.

    ***

I have had an ARC of Incarnate sitting on my shelf for a while thanks to a trade, but I haven’t had the chance to read it before release which I’m totally devastated about. I’ve heard such amazing things about this debut book and I want to find out for myself just what it’s about.

Though I’ll probably read the eBook version that will be downloading to my Kindle instead of the ARC, just in case something major changed that I wouldn’t want to miss.

I love the idea of reincarnated souls. And I love the idea that Ana is a newsoul… or possibly a nosoul. I can’t wait to find out which she is, especially if being a nosoul means she’ll only have one existence to live.

And I can’t wait to go on the journey with Ana as she tries to solve the mystery of why she may have received another’s life.

The description mentions “romance, fantasy, and danger” – all things I love – so I can’t wait to read Incarnate in February.

Article 5 by Kristen Simmons will be released in the U.S. on January 31, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available online to pre-order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Tor Teen, the print edition is 368 pages.

Article 5 is one of the books that can be chosen for the 2012 Debut Author Challenge hosted by Kristi at TheStorySiren.com.

    ***

This book sounds like a super cool dystopian that I can’t wait to read. I hadn’t heard of it before I traded for a copy, but when I checked it out, it sounded like a book I’d really love to devour so I added it to my pre-orders.

The future society the author created sounds very strict and very harsh. Compliance with the Moral Statutes sounds like it will be impossible. And the punishments sound far worse than the crimes.

I can’t wait to meet Ember and discover what life is like in her world. And to find out just how horrible it is to learn that the boy she loves is the very one who arrests her mother.

I’m curious to see just how dark things will get for her after her mom’s arrest and to see if she is able to save her or if there will be no happy ending for either of them. I wish I could add it to the top of the pile now, but at the very least, I really hope I can read this new release in March.

Lenobia’s Vow by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast will be released in the U.S. on January 31, 2012 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the print edition is 160 pages.

Lenobia’s Vow is the second novella in the House of Night series by author’s P.C. and Kristin Cast.

    ***

I have the first novella in this off-shoot series from the authors’ House of Night novels, although I haven’t yet read it. But as I own all books in the series I decided to pre-order this next one for my Kindle.

I like the idea of meeting these other characters and getting a chance to learn their story prior to the events in House of Night. Lenobia was always a very likable character and I can’t wait to meet her when she was much younger and hear how she first fell in love.

As it is a fairly short novella, I hope to be able to sneak this one on top of my reading pile really soon.

Shift by M.R. Merrick will be released in the U.S. on February 1, 2012 in eBook format and will be releasing soon in paperback format. It is not available to pre-order, but it will be available to purchase at Amazon and Barnes & Noble on release date.

Shift is the second book in The Protector series by the author.

    ***

I did receive an eARC from the author for review, but I will be purchasing the finished eBook for my Kindle on release date and I can’t wait. I recently read the first book in the series and it was every bit as awesome as I’d hoped it would be.

I can’t wait to get back into the world the author created and unravel more of the mystery. I am super curious to find out what will happen next with Chase and Rayna, if they’ll find the answers they’ve been looking for, and just what it means to be a Protector.

And I’m dying to know just how tough they’ll need to be in order to win the battle against their enemies. While I will be reading the eARC, I am excited to have the finished eBook as part of my permanent collection.

The Rivals by Daisy Whitney will be released in the U.S. on February 6, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 352 pages.

The Rivals is the sequel to The Mockingbirds by author Daisy Whitney.

    ***

I have not yet read The Mockingbirds, the first book in the series, but everyone said that I had to read it and so I bought it for my Kindle. And because I own book one, I just had to pre-order the sequel when I learned that it was going to be releasing soon.

I refuse to look at the Goodreads description for fear of spoiling book one, but it is linked in the cover art for anyone who wants to check it out.

The Mockingbirds caught my eye because idea of a secret society that takes action to right the wrongs done to the students at Themis Academy intrigued me. And even though the subject matter is harsh – the main character was assaulted – the idea that she is willing to fight back makes her sound like someone that I’d like to meet.

I had no idea until recently that it was a series. But now, more than ever, I want to read both books and find out exactly how the Mockingbirds help those who need it. Even if it means that I find out that their brand of help is nothing more than vigilante justice.

UPDATE: I did have one other book pre-ordered….

    Harbinger by Sara Wilson Etienne

    Pub. Date: February 2, 2012

    (Amazon, Barnes & Noble)

    ***

Drowning Instinct by Ilsa J. Bick

    Pub. Date: February 1, 2012

    (Amazon, Barnes & Noble)

    ***

    {Note: All covers link to the books on Goodreads}

    ***

It’s definitely not a quiet week for releases this week. I had no idea I had quite so many books pre-ordered. Fortunately I’ve read Wings of the Wicked and will be reading Shift in the next day or two, so I won’t have quite so many books to add to the TBR pile.

As much as I love it, I think participating in the Debut Author Challenge is a dangerous thing for my reading pile and for my wallet, but I can’t resist the chance to discover a new book or author that I might not have otherwise discovered. Even if I don’t always get to read their books immediately….

    ***

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
