    Description…

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Carmack follows up her trio of hits—Losing It, Faking It, and Finding It—with this thrilling first novel in an explosive series bursting with the Texas flavor, edge, and steamy romance of Friday Night Lights.

In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.

Dallas Cole loathes football. That’s what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.

But life doesn’t always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.

Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It’s obliterated.

Dallas doesn’t know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn’t know that Dallas is his new coach’s daughter.

And neither of them know how to walk away from the attraction they feel.

    The Review

Cora Carmack’s ALL LINED UP is a sweet, sexy, and totally addictive read. Told in alternating POVs, readers will get the inside scoop on what both Dallas and Carson are thinking, what they know, and what they don’t. And with all that they don’t know, it makes for an incredibly exciting and romantic story.

Dallas is not at all interested in getting involved with a football player. Not after having her heart broken by one already. And especially not someone who plays for the team coached by her father at Rusk University. Carson isn’t looking to get involved with anyone at all. Football is his best chance for the kind of future he wants. He needs to stay focused. He can’t afford to fail.

Staying away from each other would be better for everyone. But when that proves impossible, the next best thing is to just be friends. She won’t be breaking her rule of not dating football players. He won’t be risking his scholarship or his spot on the team. It’s the perfect solution… as long as they can resist their attraction for each other.

ALL LINED UP is a lightning fast, one-sit read with two characters who are instantly likable and relatable. Dallas is clever, witty and determined. Carson is dedicated, driven and undeniably sexy. Their chemistry is electric. And their love story is one readers will be rooting for from that very first moment on the balcony and the next one just beneath it, to the story’s end.

Author Cora Carmack gets the win for this first installment in her Rusk University series. A captivating storyline, a swoon-worthy romance with just the right amount of heat, characters who are easy to connect with, and a setting that readers can look forward to seeing in future books in the series, make ALL LINED UP a must.

    The Rating…

    5

    On a Personal Note…

I’m still somewhat new to New Adult. But I’d heard great things about Cora Carmack’s writing and I couldn’t wait for her new series. I love when contemporary romance incorporates some kind of athlete into the story. And I’m particularly fond of football players.

So when I read the description for ALL LINED UP I just knew this would be a book I’d love. And I was not wrong.

I fell in love with the love story during the scene when Dallas was dangling off the balcony and Carson tried to be the hero by catching her. But I fell in love with the story much earlier than that – from the moment I read those two opening sentences. I knew right then that I loved the writing and the author’s voice. And I knew that if I had every single book in this series I wouldn’t have been able to resist reading them back-to-back.

I love that the author chose to share things from both Dallas’s perspective and Carson’s. But I also love that not every chapter switched back and forth between the two points of view.

It was so easy to like Dallas and even easier to like Carson. Every time he called Dallas by the nickname he gave her, I couldn’t help but smile. And, no, I’m not going to reveal what that was here.

And of course I couldn’t help but love the fact that I knew more about some of what was going on than the characters did. Though it did ratchet up the suspense and angst levels. And it may have caused me to feel more than a little dread at various points.

This story checked all the boxes for what I’m looking for in a contemporary romance. Interesting, likable female main – check. Sexy, charming male protagonist – check. Swoony love story – check. Tension, angst, heartbreak – check, check, check. Plot that keeps me interested outside of the romantic connection – check. Engaging, smart writing that doesn’t forget that humor and sarcasm are important for balance. Check. Chemistry that sizzles, love scenes that are sexy not skeevy, quotes that make me melt – check, check and most definitely check.

    Favorite Passage…

There were two scenes in this book that really stuck with me. One that makes me grin every time I read it, and this one that makes me melt.

“No one in my entire life has ever told me I have a big heart.”

I touch the hand she has braced on her knee, just for a few seconds, and say, “Then no one in your entire life has been paying much attention.”

    Cover Reveal: ALL LINED UP

    All Lined Up

    Coming May 13, 2014

    blue_green_add

I can’t wait for Cora Carmack’s ALL LINED UP to come out this May and I’m super excited to share its cover and the very awesome cover reveal trailer.

When I first read this book’s description I knew instantly that this was going to be a New Adult must read for me and I couldn’t wait to get a peek at its cover.

I love the deep and vibrant colors the artist used in creating this cover. I love that it’s set on the football field which connects it immediately with the story. And I love the sporty university font used for its title. It’s another element that gives you more insight into this story at first glance.

After having watched the trailer, though, I find that I might have liked to see an image where the male cover model’s eyes were open. His eyes are rather gorgeous (check out the video at the 6 second mark) and it would have made for a rather breathtaking cover.

I am also a bit surprised at how much younger the models look in the trailer versus on the cover – closer to the ages their characters are in this story. The darker tones make them appear a few years older than I’d have expected them to be.

But I like that this cover is a bit different from those of the author’s other novels. It’s still romantic, but it reveals much more about the story and the darker tones and reddish/coppery highlights are definitely eye-catching.

This is definitely a cover that will stand out on any bookstore’s shelves.

    Cover Reveal: Seeking Her

    SEEKING HER

    add

I was so excited to be able to get an early peek at Cora Carmack’s new cover for the upcoming novella, SEEKING HER, in her Losing It series, which will be available on January 28, 2014. I’m even more excited to be able to share it here on the blog today.

I love the covers in this series, especially those for the full-length novels. And I was so curious to see if this cover would more closely resemble the one for the other novella or the covers for the full-length books.

So it was quite a surprise to see something that was a bit different than the other covers, although the title font is the same as it is on the previous novella as is the placement and font used for the author’s name. Which makes me totally intrigued about this story and why Kelsey Summers does not have to share the spotlight with Jackson Hunt on this story’s cover.

What I love most are the warm tones in this cover that are used not just for the cover model but for the background. I love that the pose used for the cover model gives her an air of mystery. And I love that this cover doesn’t immediately reveal that it’s a sexy, boy-girl story, it makes you have to read the description to find out more.

Even though it is different from the other covers, because of the fonts, title placement, and author name placement and style it still has a connection to the series. And while I love all the other covers in this series I’m thrilled to see something different for this soon-to-be released novella.

But that’s what I think. What do you think?

    About Seeking Her

A few months after being honorably discharged from the military, Jackson Hunt is still struggling to adjust back to the real world. He needs to get a job and find a sense of normalcy if he’s going to keep his own demons at bay. The job that falls into his lap, though, is anything but normal.

Bodyguard (and baby-sitter) to spoiled-rich-girl Kelsey Summers isn’t exactly what he’d been looking for, but it’s a chance to travel, to get away from the home that has felt stifling ever since his return. It would be a pretty sweet gig if it weren’t for the fact that Kelsey’s father doesn’t want Kelsey to know she’s being followed. Hunt feels guilty (and a little bit creepy) as he watches her from afar. She’s vibrant and infuriating, exciting and reckless, mysterious and familiar. When he sees her falling into the same patterns that he suffered years ago, he decides it’s time to stop watching and help her instead. But getting to know her is more difficult than he thought, especially because the more he knows her,the more he wants her.

Cade moved to Philadelphia to act and to leave his problems behind in Texas. So far though, he’s kept the problems and had very little opportunity to take the stage.
