THE WISH GRANTER Blog Tour: Review + Giveaway

Welcome to today’s stop on THE WISH GRANTER Blog Tour. As a huge fan of the author and her Ravenspire series, I am thrilled to be able to share my thoughts on this second book in the series.

For those who haven’t read the first book in this series, THE SHADOW QUEEN, not to worry, as THE WISH GRANTER introduces a new world and characters to fall in love with… or detest if it’s Alistair Teague we’re talking about. And while you may know who he is from that other fairytale, you will definitely want to see just how C.J. Redwine imagined him.

THE WISH GRANTER releases in just one week, so the wait is almost over! And let me tell you, it is sooooo worth the wait!

In the meantime, be sure to check out the other stops on the tour for more reviews and a few guest posts. And if you’d like the chance to win signed copies of both books in the series, be sure to check out the tour-wide giveaway.

Title & Series: THE WISH GRANTER (Ravenspire #2)
    Author: C.J. Redwine
    Release date: February 14, 2017
    Publisher: Balzer + Bray
    Pages: 432
    Formats: Hardcover, audio, eBook

    Description…

An epic, romantic, and action-packed fantasy inspired by the tale of Rumpelstiltskin, about a bastard princess who must take on an evil fae to save her brother’s soul, from C. J. Redwine, the New York Times bestselling author of The Shadow Queen. Perfect for fans of Graceling and the Lunar Chronicles.

The world has turned upside down for Thad and Ari Glavan, the bastard twins of Súndraille’s king. Their mother was murdered. The royal family died mysteriously. And now Thad sits on the throne of a kingdom whose streets are suddenly overrun with violence he can’t stop.

Growing up ignored by the nobility, Ari never wanted to be a proper princess. And when Thad suddenly starts training Ari to take his place, she realizes that her brother’s ascension to the throne wasn’t fate. It was the work of a Wish Granter named Alistair Teague who tricked Thad into wishing away both the safety of his people and his soul in exchange for the crown.

So Ari recruits the help of Thad’s enigmatic new weapons master, Sebastian Vaughn, to teach her how to fight Teague. With secret ties to Teague’s criminal empire, Sebastian might just hold the key to discovering Alistair’s weaknesses, saving Ari’s brother—and herself.

But Teague is ruthless and more than ready to destroy anyone who dares stand in his way—and now he has his sights set on the princess. And if Ari can’t outwit him, she’ll lose Sebastian, her brother…and her soul.

    The Review

Once again C.J. Redwine has taken a well-known fairytale and turned it into an amazing adventure and an unforgettable and magical read. THE WISH GRANTER has all the elements of a classic fairytale – royalty, wickedness, greed, foolish choices, heroism, innocence, justice, and the hope for a happily ever after. But it offers so much more – action, suspense, a smart, strong, and immensely likable heroine, heartbreak, romance, faerie lore, depth of plot and characters, an expansive and interesting world, and a darkly appealing tone that sets the mood for this positively gripping and absolutely wonderful tale.

With the queen seeking to eliminate any possible threats to her son’s future rule, Thad had no idea how he could save himself, let alone protect his sister. So when he was given the chance to save her, he took it. Even if it meant sacrificing himself to do so.

But when Ari discovered the price he agreed to pay and the other costs he hadn’t been aware of, she was determined to find a way to release him from the contract. Though it wouldn’t be easy. Not when the Wish Granter had the only copy of the agreement. Not when Thad was taking dangerous risks to try and get out of the contract on his own. Not when she had nothing to bargain with. And not when she knew next to nothing about faeries and how they might be defeated.

A kingdom in turmoil, a prince at risk of losing his soul, a wily princess who refuses to conform to expectations, a weapons master who is reluctantly falling in love, and a very dangerous, greedy, and power hungry faerie looking to have it all, make for an epic, enthralling, imaginative, and exciting read.

C.J. Redwine infused her fairytale with more darkness, more tragedy, a more vile and wicked villain, a slew of despicable foes, and a more challenging puzzle to solve. But THE WISH GRANTER also promises more bravery, heart, ingenuity, hope, and love.

While based on the story of a not-so-beloved character, this second book in the Ravenspire series is an original with a heroine who is sure to be beloved. And it is a story that can be read and thoroughly enjoyed whether or not the first in the series has been read.

Lorelai Diederich, crown princess and fugitive at large, has one mission: kill the wicked queen who took both the Ravenspire throne and the life of her father. She’ll have to be stronger, faster, and more powerful than Irina, the most dangerous sorceress Ravenspire has ever seen.

But Lorelai is nothing like Kol expected—beautiful, fierce, and unstoppable—and despite dark magic, Lorelai is drawn in by the passionate and troubled king. Fighting to stay one step ahead of the dragon huntsman—who she likes far more than she should—Lorelai does everything in her power to ruin the wicked queen. But Irina isn’t going down without a fight, and her final move may cost the princess the one thing she still has left to lose.

    The Guest Post

‘Five Fast Facts’ by C.J. Redwine

    Lorelai

    1. She has mad parkour skills and is an accomplished thief. Need someone to pick a lock, steal something from the queen’s garrison, and then escape the guards by literally running up and over a wall? She’s your girl.
    2. She has a gyrfalcon whom she can communicate with telepathically. Sometimes this results in an attacker running for his life. Sometimes this results in mice guts being dropped on her brother’s head from on high.
    3. Her name means alluring enchantress. She wouldn’t think twice about whether or not she’s alluring, but she has serious magical power, and she’s going to use it to bring down the most powerful sorceress Ravenspire has ever seen.
    4. She is unfailingly practical, much to the despair of her brother (whose spirit animal is whichever animal can do jazz hands).
    5. It takes her a long time to lose her temper, but once she does, lookout world, you’re about to burn.

    Kol

    1. It’s not like he’s kissed every girl at school. Just most of them. For science.
    2. He’s been expelled from Eiler’s Military Academy three times for (seriously legendary) pranks. He kind of regrets getting expelled, but he doesn’t regret the pranks.
    3. He’s spent his life in the shadow of his oh-so-perfect older brother—the only one who seems able to meet their father’s expectations. Kol doesn’t want his brother’s position as heir to the throne, but he sometimes admits to wanting his father’s approval.
    4. He’s incredibly loyal, and he has a large group of close friends who’d do anything for him.
    5. When you strip away the playboy and the pranks, you find a prince who will sacrifice himself to save his people.

    Queen Irina

    1. She grew up hearing her father constantly compare her to her younger sister. Irina always fell short.
    2. She spent years training with a secret group of mardushkas (sorceresses), learning how to use her power in ways that were strictly forbidden by the king.
    3. Following the rules left her with a broken heart and shattered dreams. Now, she makes the rules. And anyone who crosses her (or who has something she needs) pays a terrible price.
    4. She loved Lorelai at first.
    5. There is nothing she wouldn’t do, no life she wouldn’t take, to secure her throne and vanquish any threat to her power.

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #183

    BWRTWIcy

Below are the (mostly) YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of July 1st-July 7th that I have pre-ordered.

    Sinner

    AddtoGRicy

SINNER by Maggie Stiefvater will be released in the U.S. on July 1, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Scholastic Press, the print edition is 368 pages.

SINNER is standalone companion novel to Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver Trilogy.

I cannot wait for SINNER to be released and for my copy to download to my Kindle. I LOVED this series by the author and one of my most favorite characters was Cole St. Clair.

I am so excited to see what’s been happening with him. I was so sure, when reading the final book in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, that his story had come to an end. Especially with the way things seemed to be going. Of course they didn’t. Thankfully. But I’m even more excited that his story is continuing.

I can’t wait to find out why he’s in danger. I can’t wait to see what happens with Isabel. Heck… I can’t wait to read this and spend just a few more hours with Cole, in this world, which I have loved for such a long time. And I don’t think it can be avoided. I think I’m going to have to sneak this one on the pile this week.

    Description…

A standalone companion book to the internationally bestselling Shiver Trilogy.

Sinner follows Cole St. Clair, a pivotal character from the #1 New York Times bestselling Shiver Trilogy. Everybody thinks they know Cole’s story. Stardom. Addiction. Downfall. Disappearance. But only a few people know Cole’s darkest secret — his ability to shift into a wolf. One of these people is Isabel. At one point, they may have even loved each other. But that feels like a lifetime ago. Now Cole is back. Back in the spotlight. Back in the danger zone. Back in Isabel’s life. Can this sinner be saved?

    On the Fence

    AddtoGRicy

ON THE FENCE by Kasie West will be released in the U.S. on July 1, 2014 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 304 pages.

I am super excited for the release of ON THE FENCE by Kasie West. I got the chance to read this early and I took full advantage of that opportunity. Of course it’s now been ages since I read it, but I remember it and I remember falling in love with this story. It was sweet and romantic and I adored Charlie and Braden.

I loved their late night chats by the fence. I loved how she started to fall in love with him. I loved how… okay, so I’m not going to keep talking about what I loved because I will likely reveal what secrets were shared and what happened in the end. But I just have to add that it was an engaging and heartwarming story.

And while I may not be reading it again this week, I’m so thrilled to be able to finally get the finished copy for my collection because I definitely will be reading it again some day soon. Kasie West is an amazing writer, I’ve loved everything she’s written, and I can’t wait for everyone to get the chance to read this book and see just how awesome it is.

    Description…

    She’s a tomboy. He’s the boy next door…

Charlie Reynolds can outrun, outscore, and outwit every boy she knows. But when it comes to being a girl, Charlie doesn’t know the first thing about anything. So when she starts working at a chichi boutique to pay off a speeding ticket, she finds herself in a strange new world. To cope with the stress of her new reality, Charlie takes to spending nights chatting with her neighbor Braden through the fence between their yards. As she grows to depend on their nightly Fence Chats, she realizes she’s got a bigger problem than speeding tickets-she’s falling for Braden. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.

Fun, original, and endearing, On the Fence is a romantic comedy about finding yourself and finding love where you least expect.

    Parting words…

Next week is insane. There are a million books releasing on July 8th. So I’m so glad that there aren’t too many books coming out this week that are on my radar. Though it’s always possible I missed a few, like I did last week.

I only have two books – and two eBook novellas – pre-ordered that I know of. But there could be one or two more. And I will be adding THE VANISHING SEASON by Jodi Lynn Anderson to the collection as it sounds so awesome, and most likely Rachel Carter’s FIND ME WHERE THE WATER ENDS, as I own the first two books in that series.

There are a few others that look really good, but as I am trying to hold to a budget for the next couple of months, I’m going to wait as long as possible before I click to buy.

Anyway… I hope that I didn’t miss any new releases. I hope that if you are awaiting one of this week’s releases it will be in your bookish hands and you won’t have to wait much longer to dive in. I hope that the books you have on your radar are every bit as amazing as you hoped they’d be.

And if it is one of your books that is releasing this week, happy book birthday to you!

    DividerIcy

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Deception Blog Tour: Logan McEntire Character Interview + Giveaway

    Deception Banner

I am so very excited to be hosting today’s stop on the DECEPTION Blog Tour because not only is this tour amazing, this story is amazing, the characters are amazing and the author is amazing. As if that wasn’t enough to be excited about, for my stop today I have an interview with Logan McEntire that couldn’t be more perfect.

    And…

    DECEPTION releases today!

Which means that everyone will get the chance to find out just what happens next with Logan and Rachel. They’ll get to discover whether the Commander makes an appearance. And they’ll get to find out whether or not there is in fact a saboteur.

This sequel is every bit as awesome as the first book in the series, maybe even a little bit more so given the fact that… well, I really shouldn’t say what “that” is as it is just a bit spoiler-y. But it is.

DECEPTION is an absolutely captivating read from start to finish. It’s one of those books you will not want to put down. And after what happens at the beginning, there’s no way you’ll be able to put it down. I couldn’t. Not that I tried, of course.

Anyway… if you haven’t yet had the chance to read the description for DECEPTION, you’ll definitely want to take a peek at it below. But only if you’re read the first book in the series, DEFIANCE, whose description I’ve included a little farther down in this post.

And while there is an awesome giveaway as part of this tour, my favorite part is the interview. Because Logan was incredibly forthcoming about who he is, what he thinks of Rachel and what he’d be willing to do for her. So I hope it’s your favorite part of today’s stop, too.

The full tour schedule is at the bottom of this post, but you can visit Mundie Moms Blog Tours site for more details by clicking the banner above.

As I’ve rambled on for too long already – and I could probably ramble quite a bit more about just what happened in DECEPTION (yes, I’m dying to discuss this with someone) – I should wrap up this intro and let you get to the book details, author details, giveaway details and the interview with the utterly perfect Logan McEntire.

    So without further ado….

    Formats: Hardcover, eBook

Baalboden has been ravaged. The brutal Commander’s whereabouts are unknown. And Rachel, grief stricken over her father’s death, needs Logan more than ever. With their ragged group of survivors struggling to forge a future, it’s up to Logan to become the leader they need—with Rachel by his side. Under constant threat from rival Carrington’s army, who is after the device that controls the Cursed One, the group decides to abandon the ruins of their home and take their chances in the Wasteland.

But soon their problems intensify tenfold: someone—possibly inside their ranks—is sabotaging the survivors, picking them off one by one. The chaos and uncertainty of each day puts unbearable strain on Rachel and Logan, and it isn’t long before they feel their love splintering. Even worse, as it becomes clear that the Commander will stop at nothing to destroy them, the band of survivors begins to question whether the price of freedom may be too great—and whether, hunted by their enemies and the murderous traitor in their midst, they can make it out of the Wasteland alive.

In this daring sequel to Defiance, with the world they once loved forever destroyed, Rachel and Logan must decide between a life on the run and standing their ground to fight.

    with Logan McEntire

Hi Logan, thank you for taking the time to stop by the blog to answer a few questions. It was an absolute pleasure getting to know you in DEFIANCE and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for you and Rachel in DECEPTION. With the way things ended, I’m a bit anxious.

    ***

    Q. For those readers who haven’t yet had the chance to meet you, as I have, how would you describe yourself in 15 words or less?

Logical. Inventor. Fighter. Planner. Afraid of failing. Driven. Outcast. Rachel’s.

    elements68

    Q. Things were not easy for you growing up, given what the Commander did. What was it like to be taken in by Jared Adams as his apprentice and to be made a part of his family when you had none of your own?

It was a bright spot of love and acceptance that made me all the more determined to make something of myself. I won’t ever forget what Jared and Oliver did for me. I don’t know if I would have survived without them. Because of them, I know how to read, how to use my mind for something other than trying to figure out where my next meal is coming from, and I know how to be part of a family.

    elements68

    Q. Jared’s daughter Rachel isn’t like any of the other girls in Baalboden. What was she like when you first met her? And how would you say she’s changed since then?

She was a whirlwind of fierce kindness with a staunch dedication to seeing justice happen for wrongs inflicted, even if she had to dispense that justice herself. The first time I saw her, I was foraging for food in an alley behind Oliver’s tent in Lower Market. Some boys were circling me, shoving me down, taking my food from me, and trying to get me to start a fight so they could complain to the guards and get me banned from Lower Market. Those boys were at least three years older than Rachel, and twice her size, but she came out of Oliver’s tent at a dead run and threw herself at them, fists flying. They never stood a chance. From that point on, she’d earned my undying loyalty and friendship, even though as she grew older, that friendship became more and more complicated.

She’s still the warrior who loves and fights with equal fierceness, but some of her confidence is gone. She’s weary and sad, even though she still refuses to back down from a fight if she thinks it’s the right thing to do.

    elements68

    Q. There were a couple years after Rachel’s declaration of her feelings that you two weren’t friends. What was it like for you losing her as a friend? Did you try to fix things or was every scenario that played out in your head a “worst case”?

It was awful. I had no idea how to fix it. If our friendship had been a piece of tech or a math problem, I could’ve solved it quickly. A little bit of logic and some tinkering, and the whole thing would be patched up in no time. I kept thinking of things to say, things to do, that would smooth it out and give me back my best friend, but every time I opened my mouth, it all came out wrong. Or it sounded cold–all logic and reasoning–when Rachel needed warmth.  It was two solid years of worst case scenario played out every time we were in the same room.

    elements68

    Q. What is your favorite memory of Jared? Of Oliver? Of Rachel?

Jared: The moment when he sat me down in Oliver’s tent, four years after Oliver took me in, and offered to train me to be a courier. I knew he didn’t make the offer lightly. It meant I’d earned his respect, and that was something none of the other boys, with all of their education and money and traditional families, had been able to do.

Oliver: The day he put a slab of freshly baked bread in front of me and then rested his hand on my head and said “Eat up, son,” and I knew he meant “I love you.”

Rachel: Well, if you’d asked me this question a month ago, I would’ve said the time that I finally, after three years of trying, beat her at sparring practice, but now I have to say it’s our first kiss.

    elements68

    Q. What is your favorite invention? And why?

The little bombs I hid inside the lining of my cloak because it helped me get away from the Commander and get to Rachel when she needed me.

    elements68

    Q. Would you say you’re an optimist, a pessimist or a realist?

A realist. There’s no benefit to either optimism or pessimism. There are only plans, back-up plans, and more back-up plans.

    elements68

    Q. You and Rachel complement each other really well. You’re both smart. You’re both brave. You’re both loyal. But she’s a bit more reckless where you’re much more of a strategist. She acts first, thinks second, where you typically think first and then act. What do you think the benefits are of working together to defeat the Commander and keep the citizens of Baalboden safe? What would you say are the drawbacks?

The benefits are that Rachel has a warrior’s instincts, and no plan is complete without taking those into account. She knows when it’s time to stop planning and start acting. I know when it’s time to pull back and put more thought into something. As long as we keep that balance, we both bring something necessary to the table and that’s to our advantage. The drawbacks are when we disagree on how to find that balance. When I take too long to plan, or she rushes into something, and we fail to make the most of our partnership.

    elements68

    Q. If you could change one decision you made when it comes to Rachel, what would that be, and why?

I would’ve agreed to go over the Wall with her when she first asked because if I had, so much damage could’ve been avoided.

    elements68

    Q. If you were asked to describe Rachel to someone who hasn’t met her, how would you describe her? And does that description accurately convey just how you feel about her?

She’s fierce, loyal, outspoken, and feels things deeply. I don’t think words ever do her justice. How can they? She’s so much more than that, but I don’t know how to describe it. She’s the strength that pushes me when I don’t feel like I can face another day. She’s the one who knows how to make me laugh and mean it. She’s the one who keeps me up late at night worrying and wondering and hoping. She consumes me, and it’s wonderful and terrifying and it’s still more than that, because Rachel isn’t a girl you can neatly sum up with a few well chosen words.

    elements68

    Q. You seem to be a bit wary about Quinn, the boy Rachel met in the Wasteland. Is that only because of the way Quinn looks at her? Or is there a reason you don’t seem to trust him?

I’m not sure what to make of the way he looks at her, but I trust Rachel so that isn’t the main worry. I’m concerned because I don’t know his past, and there’s something he’s keeping hidden. Sometimes I think I catch a glimpse of something that reminds me of a feral, cornered animal. He has a right to his secrets, but if he’s going to stay with us, I need to know that he’s safe.

    elements68

    Q. While I don’t want to spoil anything that happened in DEFIANCE, a lot of things happened to you both that not only will leave a permanent mark, but have repercussions for the events in DECEPTION. If you could, without giving too much away, list the best and worst case scenarios for what might be expected in the coming days, weeks, months.

Best Case Scenario: We get those who are following us to safety before we’re hunted by those who want what we’ve got.

Worst Case Scenario: We never make it out of the Wasteland because of highwaymen or the Cursed One or those who hunt us.

    elements68

    Q. I know this answer already, but for the sake of those who haven’t yet met you (and because I just want to hear you say it again) I just have to ask – if you had to sacrifice yourself for Rachel, would you do it and why?

I’d sacrifice myself for her in a heartbeat. She’s my family, and that’s what you do for those you love.

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #139

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of August 27th-September 2nd that I have pre-ordered.

    05

    Crown of Midnight

    addtogoodreads

CROWN OF MIDNIGHT by Sarah J. Maas will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Bloomsbury USA Childrens, the print edition is 432 pages.

CROWN OF MIDNIGHT is the second full-length book in author Sarah J. Maas’ Throne of Glass series. The third through sixth full-length books, currently untitled, are slated for release in 2014 through 2017.

    Line_001

I cannot wait for the release of CROWN OF MIDNIGHT by Sarah J. Maas on Tuesday. I own all of the previous books in the series, including the novellas, and I’m totally stoked that this latest installment in the series will be added to my collection this week.

I have heard this sequel is even more amazing than the first book in the series and I’m excited to see what happens with Celaena now that she’s the new royal assassin. The description hints that she’s going to have to have to make a choice. I only hope it isn’t between Prince Dorian and Captain Westfall.

I really wanted to read this book before its release, as I had an eARC, but I wasn’t able to. Though I will definitely be reading it next week as I am dying to find out what happens in this sequel.

    The Bitter Kingdom

    addtogoodreads

THE BITTER KINGDOM by Rae Carson will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Greenwillow Books, the print edition is 448 pages.

THE BITTER KINGDOM is the third and final full-length book in author Rae Carson’s Fire and Thorns trilogy.

    Line_001

I cannot believe that release day is just about here for THE BITTER KINGDOM. I am reading the previous book in the series and hope to sneak this on the pile just after its release this week. But as it is a series-ending book I’m not trusting my ability to say goodbye to this awesome series.

The description calls this series epic, and I couldn’t agree more. I love the world that author Rae Carson built and I love Elisa and Hector.

I hope that this series has a happily ever after ending, though, given just how heartbreaking the events in book one were, I’m not entirely confident about that.

If I can’t get it on the pile later this week, I will definitely try to conquer my series-ending fears and read it next weekend. And I won’t take a peek at this book’s description until I finish THE CROWN OF EMBERS.

    div1

    Origin

    addtogoodreads

ORIGIN by Jennifer L. Armentrout will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in paperback, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in paperback and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Entangled Teen, the print edition is 400 pages.

ORIGIN is the fourth full-length book in author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Lux series. The fifth book in the series, currently untitled, is slated for release in 2014.

    Line_001

I am so excited for the release of ORIGIN and can’t wait for it to download to my Kindle this week. I am a little bit behind on this series due to a mishap which involved reading the ending of book three and so I’m hoping that now that the fourth book in the series is out, the element of the unknown will motivate me to dive back in.

I love these characters and the author’s writing style. I am fascinated by the world. And as much as I want to take a peek at ORIGIN’s description, I refuse to, in the event I might potentially encounter another spoiler.

I feel like it’s been forever since I last read about Katy and Daemon and I hope that after things quiet down in mid-September I’ll be able to read both this book and the previous book, so that I can get caught up.

    The Beginning of Everything

    addtogoodreads

THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING by Robyn Schneider will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Katherine Tegen Books, the print edition is 352 pages.

    Line_001

I am totally stoked to finally get a copy of THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING. I’d hoped to get my hands on an early copy but then the release date changed and so did this book’s title. But the wait is almost over until I can finally take a peek at this story that’s intrigued me for quite a long while.

I am just so curious about Ezra and his theory about everyone having a tragedy waiting for them. His particular tragedy is very similar to someone I’ve known, so I already feel a connection with the story. But I cannot wait to meet Cassidy Thorpe, too.

The description calls this book “lyrical, witty, and heart-wrenching” and if it is all those things I just know I’ll fall madly in love with this story that I hope to be able to sneak onto the pile over Labor Day weekend.

    Consume

    addtogoodreads

CONSUME by Melissa Darnell will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Harlequin Teen, the print edition is 384 pages.

CONSUME is the third book in author Melissa Darnell’s Clann series.

    Line_001

Melissa Darnell’s Clann series is such a sweet and delightful read and I am thrilled to be able to add CONSUME to my collection this week. I had the chance to read this book just a bit early and it was just as entertaining as the previous books in the series.

As I have read it, I don’t want to talk about what happens with Tristan and Savannah in this installment. I won’t reveal just what happens with the Clann and the vampires. But it was a super quick and engaging read and a great addition to the series.

And with all the new YA books releasing this week, I’m so glad I had the chance to read this already and it won’t be stuck on an ever-expanding TBR pile.

    Deception

    addtogoodreads

DECEPTION by C.J. Redwine will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Balzer + Bray, the print edition is 480 pages.

DECEPTION is the second book in author C.J. Redwine’s Defiance series.

    Line_001

I love, love, love this series. I only just recently read DEFIANCE a month or two ago and am going to be reading DECEPTION on Monday and I cannot wait. I will probably switch from the printed ARC to my Kindle copy when it downloads at Monday Midnight so I can read that much faster.

I fell in love with Rachel and Logan’s story and the world that author C.J. Redwine created. Their story is captivating and heartbreaking and when I put DEFIANCE down I wished I’d had the sequel to dive right into.

Of course now that release day is just about here, I’m getting a bit nervous as to whether there is another book in the series and whether it will be that much more agonizing to wait an entire year for that book. Though I’m pretty sure it will.

My plan is to read this on Monday and even though it is a fairly lengthy book, I’m confident I’ll be able to finish it in one sitting, even if it means a late night read.

DESCENDANT by Lesley Livingston will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 336 pages.

DESCENDANT is the second book in Lesley Livingston’s Starling series.

    Line_001

I am currently reading DESCENDANT and I will definitely have it read before it downloads to my Kindle on Monday Midnight. It was just so easy to fall back into this story and into this world of Norse mythologies, Mason Starling and the Fennrys Wolf.

I love Lesley Livingston’s stories and I immediately fell in love with the first book in this spin-off series that includes one of my most favorite characters from her Wondrous Strange series, Fenn. After that cliffhanger ending in STARLING, I didn’t think I’d survive the wait for DESCENDANT’s release. But thanks to a slightly early finished copy I didn’t have to wait quite as long.

Of course the longer it takes me to write this post, the longer I’ll have to wait to get back reading. So I will just say that this sequel sounds even more action-packed than the first, I am totally thrilled about the journey into the Underworld and I am super curious whether the ending of this second book in the series will leave me dangling off a cliff.

    The Liberator

    addtogoodreads

THE LIBERATOR by Victoria Scott will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Entangled Teen, the print edition is 352 pages.

THE LIBERATOR is the second book in author Victoria Scott’s Dante Walker series.

    Line_001

I am totally stoked that Dante… I mean THE LIBERATOR is releasing this week. I fell madly in love with the first book in the series and its adorable heroine and bad-boy hero – yes Dante is a hero.

I was lucky enough to get a peek at this story just a little bit early. And as I mentioned in My Reading Pile this past weekend I will be finishing this book on Tuesday. So this won’t be on the TBR pile for very long at all. Which is a good thing, as I don’t think that Dante has very much patience.

And as I spotlighted this in my Book Watch post a couple of weeks ago, I really don’t want to ramble on any longer. Especially as this post is super long with all the new releases that are being added to my collection this week and the many that are under consideration.

Besides, it’s Dante Walker, need I really say anything more?

    Don't Look Now

    addtogoodreads

DON’T LOOK NOW by Michelle Gagnon will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperCollins, the print edition is 336 pages.

DON’T LOOK NOW is the second full-length book in author Michelle Gagnon’s PERSEFoNE series.

    Line_001

I am super excited for the release of DON’T LOOK NOW, the second book in author Michelle Gagnon’s trilogy. While I haven’t yet had the chance to read the first book in the series, I do own it and the novella and I cannot wait to add this book to my collection this week.

This series sounds totally like my kind of read – packed with action, danger, thrills and excitement. And I cannot wait to finally meat Noa and Peter.

As I haven’t yet read the first book in the series I tried hard not to look too closely at this sequel’s description, but I did catch the very bold words “jaw-dropping” when I was grabbing the book’s link on Goodreads. Which made me that much more interested in meeting the characters and discovering this story for myself.

I am still going to try and hold out until closer to the release date for the third book in the series before I dive into these books. But I have a feeling that I’ll only last until October before my curiosity gets the best of me.

    The Fall of Five

    addtogoodreads

THE FALL OF FIVE by Pittacus Lore will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperCollins, the print edition is 416 pages.

THE FALL OF FIVE is the fourth full-length book in the Lorien Legacies.

    Line_001

I cannot believe that THE FALL OF FIVE, the fourth book in this series, is releasing this week. I pre-ordered a copy for my Kindle the second I saw it on Amazon even though I’m officially so far behind on this series that I really shouldn’t buy another installment without catching up.

And while I’ve only read the first book in this series and part of the second, I have taken a peek at each and every description. And I’m not going to change my approach for this fourth book.

I love that this installment has all six survivors banding together to defeat their enemy. I love that they’re going to try and “master their Legacies” so that they stand a chance against the Mogadorians. And I am curious to find out whether Number Five’s sign is really a trap and whether the Garde will be able to find Five “before it’s too late.”

The description promises that the Lorien will rise again. It promises that they will not lose the war. I am hoping that this installment lives up to its promises. And I’m hoping to be able to finally catch up on this series before the next installment is released.

    The Dark Between

    addtogoodreads

THE DARK BETWEEN by Sonia Gensler will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Knopf Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 352 pages.

    Line_001

When I saw Sonia Gensler’s latest release, THE DARK BETWEEN, available for pre-order I immediately clicked to order it for my Kindle. In addition to the awesome title and the super creepy cover, the book’s description sounded amazing.

I love the early twentieth century setting. I love that this story is dubbed “[a] supernatural romance about the powers that lie in the shadows of the mind.” And I can’t wait to meet Elsie, Kate and Asher and find out whether it’s a villain or something “otherworldly” that is responsible for the dead body they discover.

I am always totally creeped out by stories of ghosts and spirits, in a good way, of course. And the idea that there may be something more to this story has me intrigued.

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get this on the pile in September, but this sounds like a perfect story to read at the end of October.

    Here Without You

    addtogoodreads

HERE WITHOUT YOU by Tammara Webber will be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2013 in paperback format and was previously released in eBook format on August 6th. It is currently available to pre-order online at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE in paperback format and is available to order online now in eBook format.

Self-published, the print edition is 252 pages.

HERE WITHOUT YOU is the fourth and final book in author Tammara Webber’s Between the Lines series.

    Line_001

I had no idea until the week prior to the eBook release of HERE WITHOUT YOU that Tammara Webber was concluding her Between the Lines series. And while I already have the Kindle copy in my collection, I’ve been trying to list releases based upon their print release date. Which is why I’m just posting about this now.

This series is amazing. I knew from the moment I read the first book in the series that this author was insanely talented. She had such a way with words and gave me a story – and series – that blew me away. I did not expect the layers of depth in her story, I did not expect to make such a strong emotional connection to it. But I did.

I thought it was just going to be a light and fun series, but it was dramatic and heart-wrenching and gorgeous.

I have not yet read this final installment to the series. It is one of those series I don’t want to see end. Just thinking about the fact that I’ll have to say goodbye to these characters is making me teary-eyed.

So I’m not sure when I’m going to be able to say goodbye to it. Even though I am super curious about what happens with Reid and Dori. But I am hopeful I’ll get the courage up later this fall.

As this post is insanely long already I’m going to keep this section brief. Or at least I’ll try to be brief….

I can’t believe I will be the owner of all twelve releases I’ve spotlighted by Monday Midnight. This makes me both excited and nervous about the size of my TBR pile.

And with twenty-one other books releasing this week that caught my eye, I’m thinking I should have budgeted just a little bit more for books this week, as I just know I’ll be clicking to buy a few of them.

While next week may not be as “bad” as this week, I know of at least six books I’m adding to my collection next week already. So it’s very possible I have just as many, if not more, books pre-ordered that will be releasing next week. *GULP.*

Fortunately I have read one of the books releasing this week already, and will hopefully have four others read by the end of the week. But that, for now, remains to be determined.

    Anyway….

I promised to keep this short – for me – so I will just end by saying that I hope you have a few books, or more, releasing this week that will be added to your collection. And I hope that your TBR pile won’t be quite as crazy as mine will be over the next two or three weeks.

And if there is a YA title I’ve missed, please let me know in the comments… though I’ll be a little scared if there is.

As ever, happy reading and happy book buying!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

    My Reading Pile #127

It was a super quiet week at the mailbox this week. And when I finally checked the mail it turns out that I didn’t get any physical books last week, either. But there are a couple books I have been waiting on, so I’m hoping they’ll show up this week. But we shall see….

RELATIVITY by Cristin Bishara (Bloomsbury USA Children’s Books, Sep 10 2013)

I am so excited to read this book. It sounds absolutely amazing. And while I won’t be adding it to the pile this week, it will definitely be on the pile next week.

But I do have a book or two to read this week….

Here are the books I have in my reading pile this week.

    Deception

    addtogoodreads

First up on the pile is DECEPTION by C.J. Redwine. I will be on the blog tour next week and while I hadn’t received a copy for review, I did end up trading for one because I have been dying to read this book ever since I finished reading DEFIANCE.

I am so terrified as to where this story is headed. The things that happened in the first book made me incredibly anxious about what is going to happen with Rachel and Logan. But after reading this book’s description, I’m even more nervous. Though I should have known what would happen, given the book’s title.

The description mentions threats from Carrington’s army, but an even bigger threat from someone who is supposed to be on their side. It mentions sabotage and “chaos” and “uncertainty.” But what has me most worried is that it hints that Logan and Rachel’s love story is in trouble. And if that falls apart I will be devastated.

Anyway, I am super excited to finally get DECEPTION on the pile and I can’t wait to start reading it on Monday.

    Blood of an Ancient

    addtogoodreads

Next up on the pile is BLOOD OF AN ANCIENT by Rinda Elliott. I cannot wait to read this second book in the Beri O’Dell series. I received an early copy for review and I had hoped to be able to read it already. But those pesky life stuffs got in the way.

Though not for long. Because I will be reading BLOOD OF AN ANCIENT this week.

The first line of the description is just so wildly appealing to me. I love dark stories and I love that Beri will be tapping into her “inner darkness” in this sequel.  And I love that, from the sound of things in the description, this story will be packed full of action.

Things have not gotten any easier for Beri, it seems they’ve gotten worse – out-of-control magic, an insane mentor, an imprisoned lover and a being more powerful than the Dweller.

Yeah, it sounds completely epic and totally awesome and I can’t wait to dive in.

Saving the love of her life could mean letting her inner darkness out to play.

Beri O’Dell is on a mission. She has to rip back into a hell dimension fast, but needs two things first—the blood of an ancient and a fix for her friend Blythe’s magic, which careened out of control after the battle with the Dweller.

Finding ancient blood isn’t easy when the old ones are rare and unwilling to donate. She needs to find Blythe’s former mentor…except the woman has lost her mind and joined a traveling band of singing witches.

That’s not the only magical monkey on her back. Nikolos is imprisoned, and after a screwed-up spell lets her witness the horror that has become his life, her fear for him grows by the day. Now there’s another problem—a powerful being unleashed during the battle with the Dweller likes her gluttonous new existence, and will kill anyone who threatens it.

But Beri has a few tricks up her costumed sleeve, even if it means mining the darkness of her soul to set everything right…and get Nikolos back in her arms.

Warning: Sleazy ancients. Random fires. Nosy teenage hackers. Hints of off-screen torture. Battles with…Beri doesn’t know what. And one scary boyfriend who keeps inching toward insanity.

    Wishful Thinking Reads:

MARIE ANTOINETTE, SERIAL KILLER by Katie Alender is my wishful thinking read this week. I have been wanting to read this book ever since I saw the cover and title, and now that I have an ARC from a trade, I’m just dying to sneak in a read.

But as I am so behind on books I must read for review, I really don’t think I will have the time to read it prior to release. But oh how I wish I did.

    Line_001

    Those Left Behind:

Everything. I have not read anything for over a week. I am hoping to get caught up on reads this week, but I’m not entirely sure that will happen. Especially as I have an off-pile book I’m going to be reading… actually, it’s a book I have tried to sneak in already… before I start on this week’s reads. (It’s THE LIBERATOR by Victoria Scott. And what I have read is awesome.)

I am still in a bit of a reviewing slump. Though I’m not entirely sure it’s a slump versus just not having enough motivation to sit down and try. I’ve been trying to deal with real life and with figuring out blogging priorities, and it’s taken most of my energy. But as I have a review stop coming up on a blog tour in a couple weeks, and I do want to review some of those books I’ve read, I am hopeful that it isn’t really a slump.

    Really, really hopeful.

With only so many hours in a day, I am starting to come to the realization that I just can’t do everything I’d like to do. So, I’m trying to focus on those things I am most passionate about – reading, reviewing and writing. And hopefully by the end of October I’ll be able to do much more of all three.

And then maybe, just maybe, there won’t be any books left behind.

    NetGalley Pile Adds & Finds:

Once again I showed a modicum of restraint this week in terms of NetGalley requests. As much as I wanted to request a couple of the titles I found this week, I didn’t request any. Though I did receive the eGalley I mentioned above…

Between the Authors Are Rockstars event, Rockstar Book Tours and getting my posts together for the blog, I have had very little time this past week to read. Try none. But I’m hopeful that this coming week will allow me some free time to read and review. Though I doubt it. As there are quite a few tours coming up this week and a ton of authors still on tour.

And with even more responsibilities in real life to deal with this week, I have a feeling that while I will have time to read, I won’t have the time or mental energy to write any reviews. But I’m going to keep my fingers crossed once again.

I hope that you had – and will have – a productive reading week, that you received some awesome titles in the mail and that blogging has been a fun and stress-free endeavor.

As always, happy reading! And if you’d like to share what bookish reading plans you have this week and any books you’ve received, I’d love to know!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #87

Below are the YA books coming out this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of August 28th-September 3rd that I had and have pre-ordered.

Embers & Echoes by Karsten Knight was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 480 pages.

Embers & Echoes is the second book in the Wildefire series by the author. The third and final book in the trilogy, Afterglow, is slated for release in 2013.

    ***

I had Embers & Echoes pre-ordered from the second it was made available for eBook download. And I also pre-ordered a copy of the hardcover because I just had to see if it was every bit as gorgeous in real life as it seemed online.

While I had the chance to read it early. Twice. I know I’ll be reading this book again and again and it will be so much easier on my Kindle. And as I have read and reviewed it, I can’t speculate as to what might be happening with Ash as she leaves her life in California behind for an adventure in Miami, because I already know. But I can say that this Polynesian Volcano goddess does not have an easy road ahead.

There are battles. There is danger. There is heartbreak. And there is page after page of captivating story that makes me wish I could pick it right back up again.

Speechless by Hannah Harrington was released on August 28, 2012 in the U.S. in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Harlequin TEEN, the print edition is 288 pages.

    ***

Speechless is the second book of Hannah Harrington’s that I’ve pre-ordered. And while I still haven’t had a chance to read Saving June, I couldn’t resist putting her next book on my list of books to buy.

This book sounds incredible. I can’t wait to meet Chelsea Knot and find out if she’ll be able to stick with the vow of silence she’s taken. I am curious to learn just how tough it will be for her to keep silent in the face of the “ridicule” and attacks she has to endure. And I really want to know if she’ll be able to forgive herself for the part she played in almost getting someone killed.

I’m not sure when I’ll get to read this sequel, but I’m hoping to be able to add it to the pile this fall. Because I’ve been dying to read a book by this author as I’ve heard such amazing things about her writing. And because this story sounds fascinating and possibly heartbreaking.

Enshadowed by Kelly Creagh was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available online to order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Atheneum Books for Young Readers the print edition is 448 pges.

Enshadowed is the sequel to author Kelly Creagh’s Nevermore.

    ***

I think I’ve talked about Enshadowed enough. I’ve had it pre-ordered since early 2011. It was my only remaining pre-order for 2011, in fact. And it’s finally been released. Which means I will be devouring it as soon as I finish my current read.

I have missed Varen and Isobel. I have been dying to find out what will happen to him. Things were left in a dark and haunting place. And I want to see if they’ll get even darker or if there is any possibility for a happy ending.

I have no idea if this is the final book in the series or if there is more to come. And I don’t want to know. Because I have got to read this book right now. Even if it means after this long, long wait that I will have to say goodbye to the characters and story forever.

I loved the connection the author made with Poe in her first book and I can’t wait to see just how much Poe and his stories play a role in this sequel. I probably will miss many of the more subtle connections, but I am looking forward to trying to discover them all. Which will hopefully be in a day or two.

The Blood Keeper by Tessa Gratton was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Random House Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 432 pages.

The Blood Keeper is the second book in author Tessa Gratton’s The Blood Journals series.

    ***

The Blood Keeper is another book I’ve had pre-ordered for the longest time. I fell head over heels in love with Blood Magic last year and was dying to get to read more from author Tessa Gratton. She is a gorgeous writer and has such a beautiful, poetic way with words that make her stories just cling to me.

I love the dark aspect to her stories and can’t wait to see how the darkness blends with the beauty in this one. I’m excited to meet Mab and to see just how blood magic affects her life. And I really excited to find out whether any of the characters from that first book make an appearance in this one.

The Blood Keeper is another book that I hope to read this week. I don’t think I can wait any longer than that to find out what happens with Mab and Will and the “dangerous force” that is seeking “its own dark power.”

Isolation by Dan Wells was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in eBook format only. It is currently available to order online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Balzer + Bray, an imprint of HarperCollins, the print length is 75 pages.

Isolation is a prequel novella in the author’s Partials series.

    ***

While I have not yet read Partials, I just had to pre-order Dan Wells’ novella Isolation. I’ve been in love with the covers for these books and I’ve been dying to dive into Partials for awhile now. Especially as I’ve heard such amazing things about it from a few bloggers I know.

I can’t wait to see what life is like in this novella set long before the events in Partials, when the world was in a war of isolation and energy was at a premium. I’m super curious to find out how the author handles the power struggle of the various nations and where “ambition far outstrip[s] its foresight.”

And I am excited to meet Heron and see just what she discovers on her mission into enemy territory. I’m still debating whether to read this prior to reading Partials or if I should just wait and read the books in the order the author intended.

Starling by Lesley Livingston was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 352 pages.

Starling is the first book in a new series of the same name by author Lesley Livingston.

    ***

I have been a huge fan of author Lesley Livingston for the longest time. I feel in love with her Wondrous Strange series long before I started blogging and I’ve been desperately waiting for Once Every Never to be available for the Kindle.

So when I heard that she had a book called Starling coming out I instantly added it to my list of books to buy. And while I did get an early copy through a trade, I didn’t get a chance to read it. But I will be reading my eBook copy very, very soon. Possibly as soon as I finish this post….

I was tormented by the quote in the description – “Love is just the beginning… of the end.” Absolutely, maddeningly cruel. In the best possible way.

I can’t wait to meet Mason Starling. and I can’t wait to see Fenn again, as I am dying to find out why he’s lost his memory and whether he’ll get it back. I am so intrigued by the promise of Norse mythology and I am excited about the fact that this book has both “sweeping romance and pulse-pounding action.”

Waiting any longer to read this book is just not an option.

Defiance by C.J. Redwine was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available online to order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Balzer + Bray, an imprint of HarperCollins, the print edition is 416 pages.

Defiance is the first book in a new series of the same name by the author.

    ***

I have been fascinated by this book ever since I saw its cover and title. I added Defiance to my list of pre-orders in part because of cover love, in part from the promise of what the story would hold based upon its title and in part because the main character can “deftly wield a sword.”

I hope to be able to read this book very, very soon. I want to see what’s going on in Baalboden. I want to meet Rachel Adams. And I definitely want to meet Logan McEntire. But most of all I can’t wait to see what happens as they “battle their way through the Wasteland.”

This story sounds epic. The main character sounds fiery. The protagonist sounds swoon-worthy. And any book with monsters, assassins, romance and heartbreak is one I am sure to enjoy.

Don’t Tun Around by Michelle Gagnon was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by HarperCollins, the print edition is 320 pages.

Don’t Turn Around is the first book in author Michelle Gagnon’s PERSEFoNE Trilogy.

    ***

I first learned about Don’t Turn Around just before the Authors Are Rockstars Tour and instantly added it to my pre-orders. I loved the sound of this world from the moment I read the description.

Intrigue. Hackers. Mystery. Amnesia. Danger. And romance.

Yes, this book has just about everything I love. And as I haven’t read anything quite like it in YA before, I’m excited to meet the characters and see just how the author presents the story. I’m very curious to see just what secrets they hold and whether they’ll be able to find the answers they need before it’s too late.

While I know I won’t get the chance to read it this week, I am really hoping to read it mid-September.

The Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in paperback and ebook formats. It is currently available online to order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Harlequin Teen, the print edition is 304 pages.

The Iron Legends is the bind-up of three former eBook only novellas, Winter’s PassageSummer’s Crossing, and Iron’s Prophecy.

    ***

I love that all three short eBook novellas are contained in a bind-up. I pre-ordered The Iron Legends in ebook format although I have the first two…possibly all three… stories already as eBooks. But I love that I’ll be able to read all three without having to search for them on my Kindle.

And I love that this has a little something extra something called the “Guide to the Iron Fey.”

I’ve read Winter’s Passage and Summer’s Crossing but I still have to read Iron’s Prophecy. So I will be reading it from this eBook bind-up versus trying to track it down wherever it lives on my eReader.

Julie Kagawa wrote such a delightful series with her Iron Fey books. And while I still haven’t been able to say goodbye to the series, I am glad that I have yet another peek into the world with the Guide, which I will be checking out next weekend.

Erasing Time by C.J. Hill was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Katherine Tegen Books, an imprint of HarperCollins, the print edition is 368 pages.

    ***

Erasing Time is yet another book I pre-ordered based on cover and title before even checking out the description. I was fascinated with the idea of erasing time and so curious to see what that meant in context with the story that I just had to buy it no matter what the description might say.

And then I checked that out too and was even more curious to read this book. The idea of waking up four hundred years in the future is terrifying. And to a world that exists under domes, where the language spoken is hardly recognizable, is even more frightening.

I can’t wait to meet Taylor and Sheridan and find out how they manage to survive in this futuristic world. And I’m very interested to learn more about Echo and find out just what secrets he holds.

This story promises heartbreak and “adrenaline-injected chases” and I can’t wait to read all about it.

The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Balzer + Bray, an imprint of HarperCollins, the print edition is 432 pages.

    ***

The Lost Girl sounded so unbelievably heartbreaking I just had to add it to my list of pre-orders. The idea of the story – a girl created to replace someone else in the event of their death – is both chilling and just so very sad.

Just reading the description and I already feel my heart aching for Eva and for Amarra’s family. I can’t imagine what Eva’s life must have been like just knowing she could be ripped from her home at any moment and be forced to step into someone else’s life and play the part of them for the rest of her life.

I am so curious to see what choice Eva will make – stay an echo or become an original. And I’m so interested in finding out more about Eva, what it was like to have to study Amarra and then have to become her, and just how this story will end.

This sounds like an incredible debut novel and one I cannot wait to get the chance to read. Hopefully I’ll have the time to sneak it in early this fall.

Inbetween by Tara Fuller was released in the U.S. on August 28, 2012 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Entangled Teen, the print edition is 400 pages.

Inbetween is the first book in a new series entitled Kissed by Death by author Tara Fuller.

    ***

I had the chance to read Inbetween just a little bit early, but I did not get the chance to finish it. I’m so glad that I pre-ordered the eBook as it will be much easier to read the finished eBook version.

This story has romance and reapers, a good boy, a bad boy, a good girl and an evil one. It’s sweet and fun and I am very curious to find out what I missed between where I left off and where the story ended. Yes, I took a peek.

I don’t want to say too much more as I might completely, and very unintentionally, spoil the ending. But I will definitely be picking this book back up to catch up with all that stuff inbetween.

Silver by Talia Vance will be released in the U.S. on September 1, 2012 (thought it’s official release date is September 8, 2012) in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Flux, the print edition is 386 pages.

Silver is the first book in author Talia Vance’s Bandia series. The second book in the series, Gold, is slated for release in 2013.

    ***

Oh my gosh I can’t wait until Silver downloads to my Kindle this weekend. I absolutely loved this book from the moment I met it. I had no idea I would. It took me completely by surprise. And it was an absolutely awesome one at that.

I didn’t discover this book because of its cover – but it’s a gorgeous cover. I’d heard of the author for quite awhile on Twitter, but I hadn’t realized that Silver was her book and that it was coming out in September. Not until I was invited on the tour.

So, yes, I decided to read it early. Yes, I’ve written my review. Yes, I completely and totally loved it and am now suffering the long wait until Gold is released next fall…2013 that is.

I cannot pretend to guess what might happen in this book because I know exactly what happens. And I didn’t forget one single moment of action, romance, nail-biting suspense or heartbreak.

And I could never forget how easily I connected with the story and the beautiful and enchanting writing that was used to deliver it. Writing such as this, from a quote included in the description – “As I step into the room, a silver flash blurs my vision. Before I can take a breath, the world falls away.”

Oh I may have just sighed again. And I may just have to re-read this book the moment it downloads next weekend. Because I still haven’t lost that connection with Brianna, Blake or Austin and I’m not sure I’m ready to let go just yet.

UPDATE: I apparently have yet another book pre-ordered this week that hadn’t been included on my post earlier today….

Iron’s Prophecy (The Iron Fey #4.5) by Julie Kagawa

    Pub. Date: September 1, 2012

    Published by: Harlequin TEEN

    (Amazon, Barnes & Noble)

I KNEW I couldn’t possibly have missed Iron Prophecy’s release! I knew I owned, and read, the first two novellas in the bind-up, but I wasn’t sure about this one. Well, clearly, since it hadn’t been previously released, it couldn’t possibly live anywhere on my Kindle.

And while I already have this eBook included as part of the bind-up, I still plan on purchasing this short novella separately. Why not, right?

    END OF UPDATE

    ***

I had thirteen fourteen books pre-ordered – not nine or ten as I’d thought! Twelve of which have already downloaded and which are vying for my attention on my Kindle. Fortunately I’ve already read a couple of them, though I want to read both of those again. But not counting those potential re-reads, that still means books in the double digits are being added to my TBR pile. And I don’t even want to think about what this quantity of books is doing to my wallet.

Especially since next week there are a ton of new releases, too.

I have been waiting a very long time to read quite a few of these books, some of which I’m sad that I didn’t get the chance to read early like I’d wanted to. And others I didn’t have the opportunity to read in advance, but am dying to read this week. I really hope I’ll have that chance. But that remains TBD.

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
