As a huge fan of Author Amanda Hocking, I was thrilled to learn of her new book BETWEEN THE BLADE AND THE HEART and am stoked to be a part of the tour!

One of my favorites by the author. And I’m so glad the second book’s release isn’t too far away, because that ending…

So if you’d like to know what I think, my review follows below. I’m also sharing an excerpt from Chapter One if you want to meet Malin and get a peek into this incredible new world of mortals and immortals.

And if you’re in the U.S. and would like the chance to win a copy, check out the Rafflecopter below for details and to enter.

Note: This review is based on an eARC received by the publisher in exchange for my honest thoughts about the book. A finished copy was purchased for my Kindle.

    The Review

BETWEEN THE BLADE AND THE HEART draws you in from its very first sentence and will keep you riveted until the story’s end. With an original and exciting world of mortals, immortals, and those somewhere in between, an interesting take on Norse myth, a fierce, flawed but immensely likable heroine, a dangerous pursuit, a question of fate versus free will, and an ending that will leave you desperately wishing for book two, it is a lightning-fast read that promises to be unputdownable.

Malin knew that the life of a Valkyrie wasn’t an easy one. Returning immortals to the underworld was challenging more often than not and even dangerous on occasion. It was also a lonely existence – the job didn’t allow for much time for friends, being hated or feared by immortals meant there weren’t many options for friends even if there was time, and not being able to fall in love made for a lot of empty and pointless relationships.

But still she couldn’t imagine becoming anything but a Valkyrie. It was in her blood. It was her destiny. She never felt more alive than when she was wielding her sword and sending the chosen immortal back to where they belonged.

She never questioned her orders. She never wondered how her assignments were chosen. She never hesitated to do her job and keep the balance. Not until things start to go wrong and she discovers that the person she trusts most has been keeping a dark secret that could change everything she believes in.

Amanda Hocking created a world that is imaginative, dark and dangerous, and utterly fascinating – where mortals and immortals live side-by-side, in a fragile balance enforced by the Valkyries. She chose a setting for the bulk of her story that is gritty and decaying and seedy and a little bit sexy. She introduced a wide variety of beings from Norse – and other – mythology and folklore.  And she gave readers characters who are captivating and intriguing and unusual and appealing.

BETWEEN THE BLADE AND THE HEART has action and romance and mystery and suspense. It has drama and heartbreak and humor and intrigue. It has heat. It has adventure. It has battles aplenty. And it has one adorable wolpertinger named Bowie. All of which make for an absolutely gripping and wildly entertaining must-read.

Welcome to Day Five of the Top 10 of 2017

    A WEEK OF LOOKING BACK…

    …AND LOOKING FORWARD

And thank you to everyone who participated, followed along, or shared their favorite reads in the comments on each of the hosts’ blogs and instagrams. Here’s to a great reading year. The books coming out in 2018 are going to be awesome!

    As mentioned previously…

It’s hard to believe it’s been seven years since I began co-hosting the event with Jaime of Two Chicks on Books. Over the years the event has changed a bit, as have the hosts, and I’m so thrilled that this year in addition to the incredible Jaime of Two Chicks on Books, Nancy and Christy of Tales of the Ravenous Reader, and Bridget of Dark Faerie Tales, we are joined by Fallon of Seeing Double in Neverland and the lovely ladies at Take Me Away To A Great Read!

And, for the first time ever, we’re stoked to have an Instagram component, headed up by Bridget @DarkFaerieTales_.

I haven’t been blogging very much during the last half of the year, but nearly every book I have read this year has been amazing. So I have a few favorites from the year to share.

If you haven’t yet heard of the Top 10 of 2017 week-long event, in a nutshell it’s where we share our favorite bookish lists and invite you to share yours over the next five days by leaving your post links in the daily Linky Lists.

Yet again, we’re each hosting our own giveaways on each of the five days of this challenge – Head over to Two Chicks on Books for the Day One giveaway, I hosted Day Two’s giveaway, Tales of the Ravenous Reader hosted Day Three’s giveaway, Day Four’s giveaway is at Take Me Away to a Great Read, and Day Five’s giveaway is at Seeing Double in Neverland. So be sure be to visit each of our blogs this week to share your post links and enter the giveaways!

AND, if you head over to Bridget @ DarkFaerieTales’ Instagram, she’ll be hosting an event-long giveaway,

The Books I’m Most Looking Forward to in 2018

Okay, so for today’s list I have so many books I can’t wait to read that are coming out in 2018. (And one that I had on last year’s list that had a bit of a delay but now has an official release date.) So there is an honorable mentions list, because I just couldn’t stop at 10, especially since most of my top anticipated reads are continuations of series and there are quite a few standalones and new series that I’m excited about.

    #1

THE DARK CALLING (The Arcana Chronicles #5) by Kresley Cole

    #2

THE DARKEST LEGACY (The Darkest Minds #4) By Alexandra Bracken

    #3

THE TRAITOR’S RUIN (The Traitor’s Circle #2) by Erin Beatty

    #4

BETWEEN THE BLADE AND THE HEART (Valkyrie #1) by Amanda Hocking

    #5

UNEARTHED (Unearthed #1) by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

    #7

99 LIES (100 Hours #2) by Rachel Vincent

    #8

    #9

GENESIS (Project Nemesis #2) by Brendan Reichs

    #10

LOST CROW CONSPIRACY (Blood Rose Rebellion #2) by Rosalyn Eves

    Honorable Mentions

I have so many books I’m excited for in 2018 that I couldn’t stop at listing just the 10 above. And while this honorable mentions list doesn’t include every book I can’t wait to read, it does include just 10 more of them that I would have included above if “10” wasn’t quite so specific a number.

And I also can’t wait to hear more about Marie Rutkoski’s upcoming series, the first book rumored to be slated for release this year.

FIRST & THEN Book Superlative Blog Tour + Giveaway

I am so excited to be today’s stop on the FIRST & THEN Book Superlative Blog Tour. Not only because I had such a fun superlative, but because it’s FIRST & THEN’s release day!

    HBB

This was such a fun idea for a tour, and I loved checking out all the stops to see what each of the bloggers had to say about their superlatives. If you’d like to follow along, the tour schedule with direct links to all the stops is at the bottom of this post. And if you’d like to check out the tour page on Fierce Reads, just click the banner at the top of this post or the tour graphic a bit further down.

For my stop today I get to talk about the “Friendliest Author(s) on Twitter.” And while I normally ramble endlessly about who I think is awesome and why I think they’re awesome, I decided to do so in a way that was less words, more pics. And of course there are plenty more than just the authors I chose to include, but I managed to narrow it down just a bit.

My tour stop also includes a giveaway for a copy of FIRST & THEN. This is an amazing book and a total must read. If you’d like to know what I thought about it, my review is HERE. But if you haven’t yet heard about FIRST & THEN check out the description – with a link to an excerpt – below.

    Description…

Devon Tennyson wouldn’t change a thing. She’s happy silently crushing on best friend Cas, and blissfully ignoring the future after high school. But the universe has other plans. It delivers Devon’s cousin Foster, an unrepentant social outlier with a surprising talent, and the obnoxiously superior and maddeningly attractive jock, Ezra, right where she doesn’t want them–first into her P.E. class and then into every other aspect of her life.

With wit, heart, and humor to spare, First & Then is a contemporary novel about falling in love–with the unexpected boy, with a new brother, and with yourself.

GRIM Blog Tour: Micro Reviews of THE PINK & SELL OUT + Giveaway

    Grim_bannerH2_2

I am super excited to be a part of this amazing tour for the recently released GRIM anthology. The classic fairytales were my most favorite stories growing up and I am so excited that a number of my favorite authors today have decided to put their own spin – sometimes a darker spin – on these already grim tales. (Pun intended.)

For my stop today I get to share my thoughts on Amanda Hocking’s THE PINK: A Grimm Story and Jackson Pearce’s SELL OUT. I am also going to ramble just a little bit about My Grimm Childhood.

While I haven’t yet read all of the stories in this anthology, I do plan on reading each and every one, along with the original. But the ones I have read so far have been absolutely delightful. And by delightful I mean dark and twisty and different and enchanting. They are the perfect short bites to read when I have a spare moment.

And although some have been quite different from the original tales, they bring back fond memories of my childhood. Which was also often dark and twisty and different and enchanting.

Anyway… if you haven’t yet had a chance to take a peek at this anthology, the details are below. And if you’d like to read THE KEY by Rachel Hawkins and THE BROTHERS PIGGETT Julie Kagawa, they are currently available for free download at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Harlequin Teen created a wonderful trailer for this anthology. Be sure to check it out if you have a moment.

And if you’d like the chance to win a copy of the book and be entered into the grand prize giveaway drawing, follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter. Then be sure to visit all stops on the tour for additional chances to win GRIM.

    The Micro Reviews

    ThePink

I really enjoyed reading Amanda Hocking’s version of THE PINK. It’s one of the shorter, more obscure of the Grimm’s stories, but it’s actually one I remember rather well. It involves a young prince who can make wishes come true, a queen who is framed for his death, and a young girl who puts her own life at risk to save another.

Instead of revamping the story, the author opted to stay somewhat true to its original setting and voice. It reads like a fairytale. But as the original was so quick and lacking in much detail, this author chose to expand upon it, fleshing out the story and characters a bit more, adding in her own creative and imaginative elements.

Amanda Hocking’s THE PINK retains much of the essence of the original story but is far more enchanting than the original and even a bit less grim. By giving the characters a voice, taking away some of the antiquated notions about women, and taking religion out of this tale, the author has made this modern adaptation a charming, sweet and absolutely delightful read.

    divider2

    SellOut

SELL OUT is the first story I’ve read by author Jackson Pearce and it definitely won’t be my last. It is loosely based on the classic Snow White story, but with quite a few nods to the original. And as this is such a popular fairytale I don’t think I need to refresh anyone’s memory, but just in case…. It involves an envious queen, a huntsman who chooses to defy his orders, a bunch of rather greedy dwarves, a tightly-laced bodice, a poison apple, a state of suspended animation, a kiss and a happily ever after.

Jackson Pearce’s SELL OUT mixes things up a bit and adds its own grim twist. It’s a modern interpretation involving a character who can revive the dead with a kiss. There is a “wicked” stepmother, or at least a greedy one. The huntsman and the prince are combined into one character, Emmett, who is not quite as altruistic. Snow White, a.k.a. Elise Snow, isn’t nearly as innocent as she was in the original tale. But the “dwarves” in this story – free-spirited creative types – are much more kindly than their counterparts in the Brothers Grimm’s version, treating Elise more like family than like a servant.

SELL OUT is a super quick read, a lot of fun and is definitely a unique modernization of the classic. The grim twist to this story – in which no young boars were harmed (and no, taxidermy does not count) – is provided by Emmett’s job. It’s definitely worth the read and will likely leave you wondering about happily ever afters. This short story is one that I would love to see expanded into a full-length novel.

    divider1

    My Grimm Childhood

I loved reading fairytales when I was a child, and my most favorite stories were those by the Brothers Grimm. Many of those fairytales, like many in this anthology, were rather grim. I still can’t get the images of what happened to Cinderella’s step-sisters, and what they were willing to do to catch a prince, out of my head. I suppose gruesome is a more befitting word.

I was given The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales when I was eight or nine. It was just over 850 pages and I devoured it cover to cover so many times that the spine first bent, then broke, then tore into sections. And still I continued to read it. I loved the magic of these stories and was fascinated by their darkness. It wasn’t until later on in life that I learned a bit more about German fairytales and bedtime stories and what their true purpose often was.

Of course I didn’t recognize how sexist these stories were, how quick to judge and punish the kings and princes were, how only the most wholesome of girls was rewarded, and how innocence and beauty went hand-in-hand. And I didn’t understand how delousing a man was not something particularly enjoyable. I was blinded to all of that by these stories that transported me to imaginary lands where happy endings were real and evil was punished.

These stories provided me an escape that was much needed and I cherished them dearly. No matter how much a few of the elements in them should offend my sensibilities, I can’t seem to get upset with them or stop loving them. They were written in a time that is so very different from today.

But I’m really excited that children today have an alternative to Hollywood’s overly cheery version of a fairytale, or ones that are filled with concepts that are a bit outdated, with such modernized versions as those offered in the GRIM anthology. And it’s absolutely wonderful to see today’s spinners of tales pay homage to their predecessors in these most beloved stories.

I’m certain that I would have happily exchanged my GRIMM Childhood for a GRIM one.

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #136

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of August 6th-August 12th that I have pre-ordered.

    05

    Elegy

    addtogoodreads

ELEGY by Amanda Hocking will be released in the U.S. on August 6, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the print edition is 560 pages.

ELEGY is the fourth and final full-length book in author Amanda Hocking’s Watersong series.

    Line_001

I am super excited that the final book in Amanda Hocking’s Watersong series releases this week and will be added to my collection in just a few short hours. I loved the first book in the series and have been dying to get the remaining books on the pile so that I could read them all at once.

One of the things I adore about this author is that she doesn’t go the stereotypical route with her books. Especially when it comes to her series-ending books. The choices she has her characters make are the right ones for them, even if they’re not the most popular with her readers. So I’m very curious to find out what happens with Gemma at the end of this series.

I refuse to read the description for this final book, as it will spoil the two previous books in the series that I haven’t yet read. But I can’t wait to find out whether Gemma will be able to return home and to see how everything ends.

I hope to be able to start – and finish – the remaining books in this series some time next week. So the wait for answers shouldn’t be much longer.

BITING BAD by Chloe Neill will be released in the U.S. on August 6, 2013 in paperback, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by NAL Trade, the print edition is 368 pages.

BITING BAD is the eighth book in Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires series. The ninth book in the series, WILD THINGS, is slated for release on February 4, 2014. A novella set between books eight and nine, HOWLING FOR YOU, is due out on January 7th of next year. And the tenth installment in the series, BLOOD GAMES, will be releasing in August 2014.

    Line_001

I cannot wait for everyone to read BITING BAD. I loved this installment in the series, which I got the chance to read a bit early thanks to Kt of A Book Obsession. And I want to be able to talk to everyone about what happened right there at the end.

As I already spotlighted it for my Book Watch post a couple weeks ago, and I plan on posting my thoughts about this installment in the next couple of days, I don’t want to say much more other than that this was such an awesome installment. It had everything I’ve come to expect in this series. The mystery element kept me guessing. And I couldn’t get enough of Ethan and Merit.

Of course I want to know what happens next, as I’m sure those who haven’t yet read BITING BAD do. But the ending of this book leaves the door open for so very many possibilities, way more than the end of book seven. Which makes me even more eager for WILD THINGS.

And it really makes me want to go back and re-read the series from the beginning. Which is something I hope to do this summer.

    Infinityglass

    addtogoodreads

INFINITYGLASS by Myra McEntire will be released in the U.S. on August 6, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by EgmontUSA, the print edition is

INFINITYGLASS is the third book in author Myra McEntire’s Hourglass series.

    Line_001

When INFINITYGLASS releases in just a few short hours I will own each of the books in the series. What I can’t believe is that I haven’t yet read any of them. Because I know for a fact that this book is amazing. Trusted blogger friends told me so.

And I know that I’ve wanted to read this series and meet Emerson and Michael and learn about the Hourglass since before the first book was released.

I have no idea whether this third book in the series is the last, but I’m thinking about diving in and reading all three books even if there are plans for more. Because I feel at such a huge disadvantage for not having read these books. And I feel a sense of loss for not having met these characters.

I have no plans to read the description for this book, and while I recall having read the description for the second book at some point after its release, it has been almost a year. So I’m fortunate that I don’t remember exactly what it said. Because I much prefer to read without knowing a thing about where the story may lead.

As much as I’d love to read all three books this week, it will probably be a few weeks before I can add all three to the pile. But I definitely plan on reading them before my TBR Pile Reading Challenge post on September 20th. Even if I don’t get the chance to review them.

    [UPDATE: A non-YA book releasing that I had pre-ordered]

    Pub. Date: August 6, 2013

    [END OF UPDATE]

    div1

I was so sure I had a ton of books pre-ordered this week. But it seems I only have two YA titles and one UF title getting added to my collection. Of course I may have a couple more books on order, but I won’t know until they download on Tuesday.

And while I don’t have A TALE OF TWO CENTURIES pre-ordered, I do own the first book in that series and will likely add it to my collection later this week. I also think I’ll be adding OUT OF PLAY to my collection as that tagline has me intrigued.

I’ve just been trying to keep my book buying budget down, especially with jam-packed release weeks coming up on August 27th and September 3rd. But I am an impulse shopper when it comes to books. So I don’t think I’ll be able to resist one-click ordering both of these books.

But what about you? Are there any books you’ve pre-ordered or have on your wish list that are releasing this week? Are there any books you hadn’t realized were releasing but now can’t wait to rush out and buy?

And are you a Chicagoland Vampires fan like I am? Are you absolutely dying to find out what happens in BITING BAD? Are you so incredibly excited that the wait is finally over, after having been tormented mercilessly by Chloe Neill’s teasers and comments on her Facebook page these past few months?

If you have been suffering the wait for any of the books releasing this week, I would love to know!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #127

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of June 4th-June 10th that I have pre-ordered.

    05

    Elegy

    addtogoodreads

ELEGY by Tara Hudson releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 400 pages.

ELEGY is the third and final book in author Tara Hudson’s Hereafter trilogy.

    Line_001

I’m both happy and sad that ELEGY is releasing this week. I have been waiting for its release to get caught up on the series. But now that it has, I’m not sure I’m ready for it to end.

I did end up reading the description – I couldn’t help myself – and it makes me nervous that maybe Amelia and Joshua won’t get their happily ever afterlife after all. The description mentions “impossible choices” and fighting back, so I’m still going to hold out hope for them both.

I adored the first book in this series, I thought there was a sweetness to it, an innocence, and I cannot wait to find out how this series ends… well, just as soon as I’m able to make myself say goodbye, that is.

    Phoenix

    addtogoodreads

PHOENIX by Elizabeth Richards releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Putnam Juvenile, the print edition is 368 pages.

PHOENIX is the second book in author Elizabeth Richards’ Black City trilogy. The third and final book, currently untitled, is slated for release in 2014.

    Line_001

I only recently read BLACK CITY and I loved the world the author created with the Darklings and Purian Rose. And I loved that the story switched POVs between Ash and Natalie.

I’d hoped to read PHOENIX before its release, but wasn’t able to, but I will definitely be reading it this week. Because I really want to know what happens after that shocking finish to book one.

The description promises an even darker book than the first. And things in the United Sentry States definitely seem to have gotten more chaotic. But what makes me the most anxious is that it talks of a heartbreaking love story.

So, of course, I cannot wait to read this middle book in the trilogy.

    div1

    The Elementals

    addtogoodreads

THE ELEMENTALS by Saundra Mitchell releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Harcourt Children’s Books, the print edition is 304 pages.

THE ELEMENTALS is the third book in author Saundra Mitchell’s The Vespertine series.

    Line_001

I loved Saundra Mitchell’s THE VESPERTINE. And while I am not quite caught up on this series there is no way I wouldn’t add THE ELEMENTALS to my collection this week.

I love how each book in this series involves a new main character. And I cannot wait to meet Kate Witherspoon in this book… and Julian Birch.

I’m curious to see exactly what their powers entail and how they manage to “triumph over death, and over time.” And I’m even more curious to find out what price they’ll have to pay.

    div1

    The Testing

    addtogoodreads

THE TESTING by Joelle Charbonneau releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, the print edition is 352 pages.

THE TESTING is the first book in author Joelle Charbonneau’s new series of the same name. The second book in the series, INDEPENDENT STUDY, is slated for release on January 7, 2014. A prequel novella, THE TESTING GUIDE, was released in April.

    Line_001

I hadn’t heard of THE TESTING until Jaime of Two Chicks on Books told me I had to read it and that it was a must read book. As I hadn’t had an early copy I took her advice and pre-ordered it without actually having read the description.

But now that I have I’m super excited to own it and even more excited to read it. I love the idea that in this future friends could just as easily be enemies and that the planet is a “charred wasteland.”

I love that there are a “chosen few” who must pass a test in order to have the chance at a promising future but that this test might have a darker side. And I can’t wait to meet Cia and Tomas and find out whether Cia chooses “love without truth or life without trust.”

I am now so intrigued by this description I might just have to try and sneak it in later this week.

    div1

    Siege and Storm

    addtogoodreads

SIEGE AND STORM by Leigh Bardugo releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Henry Holt and Co. Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 448 pages.

SIEGE AND STORM is the second full-length book in author Leigh Bardugo’s The Grisha series. The third book, RUIN AND RISING, is slated for release in 2014. There are currently three novellas in this series: THE WITCH OF DUVA, THE TAILOR and THE TOO-CLEVER FOX.

    Line_001

I have heard nothing but amazing things about this series. I even had my hands on an early copy of SIEGE AND STORM due to a trade but passed it on when I knew I wouldn’t get to read the first book in the series before its release.

But I definitely plan on reading this series – I own book one already – so I just had to purchase this second book in the series for when I do get the chance to dive in.

This series sounds epic and a bit different from many of the books I typically read. But I am so very curious to meet Alina and Mal and see what being a Sun Summoner means and just what Alina’s destiny is.

The description mentions a choice between country, power and love and I can’t wait to find out which one Alina chooses in this second book.

    div1

    Tidal

    addtogoodreads

TIDAL by Amanda Hocking releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the print edition is 352 pages.

TIDAL is the third book in author Amanda Hocking’s Watersong series. The fourth and final full-length book, ELEGY, is slated for release on August 6, 2013.

    Line_001

I am super stoked that TIDAL releases today. I had it pre-ordered for my Kindle but I can’t wait for the print edition to be delivered so that it can join the first two books on my book towers.

I already rambled on quite a bit in my Book Watch post the other week, so I won’t go on and on here. This post is long enough already. But I will just say it sounds like things for Gemma are getting even more dangerous and dire so I can’t wait to find out what happens.

Though I may read it closer to the release of ELEGY this August, so I won’t have to suffer from a potential cliffhanger ending.

And I just have to add that this is my favorite cover of the series so far. It seems so much darker than its predecessors, which makes me just a little bit nervous about the direction of this third book.

    div1

    The Keep

    addtogoodreads

THE KEEP by Veronica Wolff releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by NAL Trade, the print edition is 336 pages.

THE KEEP is the fourth book in author Veronica Wolff’s The Watchers series.

    Line_001

I only recently learned that THE KEEP was releasing this week so I ran to Amazon to pre-order it for my Kindle. I am majorly behind on this series but I own every single book and definitely plan on reading them all in a marathon read one of these days.

While I’m not caught up on this series I have read each and every one of the descriptions – I just couldn’t help myself – and I can’t wait to read this installment. It talks of vengeance, deceits and a castle from which the living don’t return.

It also mentions that there may be someone else out for revenge other than Drew. Someone after her.

    div1

    Abandon

    addtogoodreads

ABANDON by Elana Johnson releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in hardcover, paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 464 pages.

ABANDON is the third book in author Elana Johnson’s Possession series.

    Line_001

I have not yet met Vi, Jag and Zenn but I own all the books in this series and I’m so excited to meet them all now that ABANDON has released. And having read the description for this third book in the series, I think it may be the most exciting one yet.

I’m so very curious who the traitor is and if his choices bring about the “total destruction” of what Vi has fought for. And I’m super curious to see if Vi, Jag and Zenn are able to work together to help the Resistance.

I seriously love the first three lines of the description. If I hadn’t been sold on this series already, they would have won me over. And they make me even more anxious to read each book and find out whether Vi, Jag and Zenn are successful or if their efforts end in failure.

    div1

    Soul Taken

    addtogoodreads

SOUL TAKEN by Katlyn Duncan releases in the U.S. today, June 4, 2013, in eBook format only. It is currently available to order online in eBook format at AMAZON.

The eBook is published by Carina.

SOUL TAKEN is the first book in author Katlyn Duncan’s The Life After trilogy.

    Line_001

I very recently learned of SOUL TAKEN by Katlyn Duncan. But with its amazing cover and interesting premise I just had to pre-order it for my Kindle. And I’m super excited to read it.

Even though it’s the first book in the series, because it’s releasing in eBook format only, I won’t have to wait ages for the next installment. Which makes me very, very happy. Because I do not love waiting.

However, I do love the idea that Maggie is a Soul Collector who gets caught in the body of a “mean girl.” I am super curious to see just what life will be like for her in the human world, whether she’ll be able to save the girl’s soul and whether she’ll be able to free her own.

    div1

This week is more than insane with the number of books releasing. I am not going to say much here as I think I’ve already said more than enough already. But I’m super excited to read Richelle Mead’s new novel and check out Susan Dennard’s eNovella, both of which I pre-ordered.

And I’m likely going to end up purchasing Sarah Dessen’s THE MOON AND MORE, Avery Williams’ THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF TOMORROW and Jennifer Castle’s YOU LOOK DIFFERENT IN REAL LIFE.

Though I’m glad I didn’t pre-order them or I would never have finished putting together this post. And I’m not sure my Kindle could have handled all the downloads if I had. It was struggling enough when my books started downloading last night. But I’m one second away from clicking the links to buy those titles right now.

I am hopeful I didn’t miss anything releasing this week. Amazon has been a little sketchy lately and I’m not sure I caught every title. But I didn’t forget any of the ones I had pre-ordered… at least I think I didn’t.

But if there are a few awesome books releasing this week that I missed or ones that I did find that you can’t wait to read, I’d love know.

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
