If you haven’t yet heard of the Top 10 of 2015 week-long event, in a nutshell it’s where we share our favorite bookish lists and invite you to share yours over the next five days by leaving your post links in the daily Linky Lists.

Once again, we’re each hosting our own giveaways on four of the five days of this challenge – I’m hosting Day One’s giveaway, Two Chicks on Books is hosting Day Two’s giveaway, Tales of a Ravenous Reading is hosting today’s Day Three giveaway, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads is hosting Day Four’s giveaway. Best Books I’ve Read in 2015

    Today’s topic is:

BEST BOOKS I’VE READ IN 2015

I’ve read so many seriously amazing books this year, that picking just ten was a dreadfully impossible task. I’m just glad I read THE STARS NEVER RISE by Rachel Vincent in 2014 or it would have made narrowing down my list that much more horrendous. It also didn’t help that I read more books this year than last, that I’ve been in an eclectic reading mood, and that there were just so many incredible books written.

#1 MENAGERIE by Rachel Vincent – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s unique, it’s hard-hitting, the writing is beautiful, the story is phenomenal, the series potential has me desperate for the next installment.

#2 DEAD OF WINTER by Kresley Cole – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because this series is an all-time favorite, because the ending is abso-freaking-lutely killer, because it’s dark and gorgeous and the waiting is exquisite torture.

#3 SIX OF CROWS by Leigh Bardugo – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because the story is epic, the world-building incredible, the writing gorgeous, the detail impeccable.

#4 TEN THOUSAND SKIES ABOVE YOU by Claudia Gray – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because the writing is stunning, the world expansive and fascinating, the series riveting.

#5 BRUTAL YOUTH by Anthony Breznican – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s dark and gritty and edgy and shocking and disturbing, the writing brilliant, the story unforgettable.

#6 SCHISM by Jenna Black – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s complex and interesting and fascinating. The world is chilling and still amazing. The characters sympathetic and scary. The story compelling.

#7 AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s thrilling and epic and gripping and unputdownable. The dual POV makes it edge-of-your-seat exciting.

#8 THE ROSE SOCIETY by Marie Lu – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s so wicked and dark and wildly entertaining. It’s about villains. Nothing more needs to be said.

#9 ROOK by Sharon Cameron – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s action-packed, nerve-wracking, suspenseful. There are twists and turns. There’s romance, betrayal and heartbreak. What’s not to love?

#10 SALT & STONE by Victoria Scott – AMAZON | BARNES & NOBLE | GOODREADS

Why? Because it’s awesome and amazing and adorable and nail-biting. The characters are ones you can’t help but love, love, love. Though the possibility that there might not be a next book in the series is heartbreaking.

    Honorable Mentions

I really wanted to limit honorable mentions to just five, but I couldn’t do it. Limiting it to 15 was hard enough as it was.

So those are my favorite reads for 2015. What are yours?

    The Interview

    Q&A with Allen Zadoff

    Q. If you had to describe your Unknown Assassin trilogy in 25 words or less, how would you describe it?

A lonely teen assassin moves from mission to mission, befriending the children of his targets so he can eliminate their parents. Over time, he begins to question his loyalty.

    Q. What was your favorite aspect to creating the character of Boy Nobody? What was the most challenging aspect?

It’s difficult to write a character who is mostly alone and who is shut down to his own emotions. On the other hand, the arc of the story is about a young soldier waking up to being a boy again, and that’s an exciting idea for me. I thought a lot about young veterans coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan. How do they re-enter the world?

    Q. What was it about Boy Nobody that caused him to defy The Program, go against his training and trust others, and make connections with those outside The Program? And do you think it was to his benefit or to his harm?

What causes you to defy your parents and teachers, go against their wishes? We all have to leave our family system at some point and explore the world outside. You take what you’ve been taught at home and in school and examine it against your own experience and feelings. Hopefully, you find that a lot of what they’ve taught you is valuable and wise, and you have the humility to go back and say, “You were right about a lot of stuff. But I have questions about a few things…”

    Q. Howard has become both a series favorite and a friend to Boy Nobody. Had you always planned on keeping Howard a part of the series or was his continuing involvement in the story something that developed as writing the series progressed?

I developed a writer crush on Howard, the geeky, earnest, funny guy who slowly becomes the assassin’s “home office.” I thought the assassin might have a sidekick at some point, but I didn’t know it would be Howard. That very much developed through the writing process. Once I met Howard, I couldn’t bear to get rid of him. He’s Boy Nobody’s first and only true friend.

    Q. I AM THE WEAPON was optioned for film. Congratulations! And I’m so excited about the possibility of seeing this on the big screen. If you could choose, who would you like to see play Boy Nobody? And why?

Thank you, Fiktshun! The first book I AM THE WEAPON (BOY NOBODY) was optioned by Sony Pictures and Overbrook Entertainment. It’s a tough character to play. He’s only sixteen, but he’s a gristled veteran in a lot of ways. On the other hand, there’s a boy inside of him with feelings that are poking through the hard exterior. In a sense, he’s a character at war with himself. There are a few fantastic young actors who might be able to do it, but I can’t choose. I wonder if the readers would tell us who they’d like to see in the role?

    The Review

I AM THE TRAITOR delivers non-stop action, excitement, shocking revelations, tension and suspense, in this, the electrifying and absolutely riveting end to the series. It returns readers to a world of assassins and missions. But this time Boy Nobody isn’t following The Program’s directives – he’s looking to save his friend Howard and find out the truth about his father before The Program finds out what he’s up to and sends someone out to end him.

Boy Nobody learned to follow orders, not to question. He learned to work alone and form no attachments. He learned to fight and to kill. He learned to trust no one. He learned to obey Mother and Father. That is until he learned that everything he’d been told to believe might be a lie.

Desperate for answers about his father, Boy Nobody is willing to risk the full force of The Program coming down on him for his disobedience. But the longer he can keep them in the dark about what he’s up to, the better. He’ll just need to evade their tracking software, escape any assassins sent to bring him in, take down any assassins sent to terminate him, free his friend who may already have the answers he’s been looking for, and put his trust in someone who may be trying to deceive him.

Allen Zadoff created an epic and nail-biting and jaw-dropping conclusion to his series with I AM THE TRAITOR. The pace is lightning fast. The story is instantly engrossing. The characters both old and new are likable, detestable, and somewhere in-between, fascinating, deadly, and surprising. And the outcome is most definitely unexpected.

The author produced a three-book series that is thrilling, dramatic, immensely entertaining, highly addictive, and unputdownable. He introduced a character who went through a radical shift from who he was at the start of the series to who he became at the end. And he took readers on an awesome and wild ride with Boy Nobody from the series beginning to its stunning conclusion.

I AM THE TRAITOR is a must for fans of gripping, intense, fast-paced, action-packed, intriguing stories that build to a climactic conclusion. It’s for readers who love stories of missions and assignments, assassins, rogue assassins, the hunt, the chase, and harrowing escapes. And it’s for those who love to be kept guessing right up to the very end.

    The Rating

05NOTE: This review is based on an eARC received from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest thoughts about the book.

This series is majorly addictive, the writing is fantastic, the pace is lightning fast. And if you love stories that will keep you on the edge of your seat, these are a definite must.

So if you’re in the US and you’d like the chance to win I AM THE WEAPON and I AM THE MISSION, just follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter a bit further down in this post.

But before all of that is the guest post from Boy Nobody. It’s one you won’t want to miss.

    The Guest Post
    On Being an Assassin

    …a post from Boy Nobody

It always begins with the link.

That is how I receive my assignments. The link.

I log on to the free Wi-Fi at Starbucks. People might find it strange that a secret agent is drinking iced coffee and planning a mission at a local Starbucks, but it works for me.

I’ve been taught a few simple tricks, all of them the same trick.

    Hide in plain sight.

Act like everyone else and you have anonymity, even in public. It’s the best way to make yourself invisible.

I open my e-mail and click on the link.

There’s an image attached. A tiny image. Barely 5K in size. The image is nothing special—a picture of a mountain lake. As if my father had been on vacation and uploaded a snapshot at extremely low quality.

The photo means nothing at all, but the size means everything.

    5K. Five days.

That is the operational window for my next assignment.

My job is always the same: Enter a new location, gain the trust of a guy or girl my age, integrate into that person’s social circle, and complete my assignment. All without being noticed.

I look around the Starbucks. Lots of people on laptops. An old couple chatting. Two cute girls in workout clothes laughing.

    Nobody paying attention to me.

I click on the link. It takes me to a Facebook profile.

There is a pretty girl smiling back at me in the photo. I click it and flip through the album. The intimacies of this girl’s life spread out in front of me like a deck of cards.

I feel a vague sense of discomfort, spying on an innocent girl.

Then I remember: Nobody is innocent.

This Facebook profile is not a real profile. It has not been created by the girl in the picture, and when the profile is removed after I’m done, it will not be removed by her.

It’s not a profile at all, but a dossier, placed on Facebook with tens of millions of others. Hide in plain sight.

The profile has been planted by the computer hackers who work for my organization. It has the photos, the locations, everything I need to know about this girl and her world.

    The girl. My new target.

I do not like dealing with girls. They are complicated. I am equally effective with girls and guys, but girls create another level of difficulty. More emotion, more problems.

    No matter.

I have my target, I have my operational window.

Now there is only one thing for me to do.

    Finish.

Previously published under the title Boy Nobody

    They needed the perfect assassin.

Boy Nobody is the perennial new kid in school, the one few notice and nobody thinks much about. Just long enough for someone in his new friend’s family to die-of “natural causes.” Mission accomplished, Boy Nobody disappears, moving on to the next target.

But when he’s assigned to the mayor of New York City, things change. The daughter is unlike anyone he has encountered before; the mayor reminds him of his father. Book Watch: Releasing This Week #181

    BWRTWIcy

Below are the (mostly) YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of June 17th-June 23rd that I have pre-ordered.

    Graduation Day

    AddtoGRicy

GRADUATION DAY by Joelle Charbonneau will be released in the U.S. on June 17, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HMH Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 304 pages.

GRADUATION DAY is the third and final book in Author Joelle Charbonneau’s The Testing trilogy.

I can’t wait for GRADUATION DAY to release this week so that everyone can read it and so that I can check out what everyone thinks. I got the chance to read it super early thanks to Jaime of Two Chicks on Books and I absolutely loved this final book in the series.

As I just recently gushed about it for my stop on the GRADUATION DAY Blog Tour and I hope to post a review later this week, I won’t ramble on too much. Besides, if I do talk about it, chances are I’ll spoil something. I won’t be able to resist mentioning whether Cia will be able to put an end to The Testing. I won’t be able to stop myself from revealing who it is that Cia can trust.

So it’s best that I just say this book and series is awesome and that I hope you get the chance to find out how awesome it is and how it all ends soon.

    Description…

In book three of the Testing series, the United Commonwealth wants to eliminate the rebel alliance fighting to destroy The Testing for good. Cia is ready to lead the charge, but will her lethal classmates follow her into battle?

She wants to put an end to the Testing
In a scarred and brutal future, The United Commonwealth teeters on the brink of all-out civil war. The rebel resistance plots against a government that rules with cruelty and cunning. Gifted student and Testing survivor, Cia Vale, vows to fight.

But she can’t do it alone.
This is the chance to lead that Cia has trained for – but who will follow? Plunging through layers of danger and deception, Cia must risk the lives of those she loves–and gamble on the loyalty of her lethal classmates.

    Who can Cia trust?
The stakes are higher than ever-lives of promise cut short or fulfilled; a future ruled by fear or hope–in the electrifying conclusion to Joelle Charbonneau’s epic Testing trilogy. Ready or not…it’s Graduation Day.

The Final Test is the Deadliest!

    Ruin and Rising Cover

    AddtoGRicy

RUIN AND RISING by Leigh Bardugo will be released in the U.S. on June 17, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Henry Holt and Co. (BYR) the print edition is 432 pages.

RUIN AND RISING is the third and final full-length book in Author Leigh Bardugo’s The Grisha trilogy.

I have been anxiously awaiting the release of RUIN AND RISING and I am stoked that I only have to wait a couple more days for its release. While I have not yet started reading this series, it’s a series that I know I’m going to fall madly in love with and I can’t wait to read it all at once, which was my plan from the start.

I already have the first two books, and would have loved to start reading them in anticipation of RUIN AND RISING’s release so I could start reading it the moment it arrives on my Kindle at Monday Midnight. And while that didn’t happen, I will definitely be diving into book one later this week and will hopefully be finished with all three books by next Sunday.

I don’t want to read the description for this final book, as it will likely spoil everything. So I’m just going to close my eyes and scroll down quickly to the next book on my list so that I don’t accidentally peek.

    Description…

The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.

Now the nation’s fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.

Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.

Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova’s amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling’s secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for.

    #Scandal

    AddtoGRicy

#scandal by Sarah Ockler will be released in the U.S. on June 17, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 416 pages.

I am super excited that #scandal is releasing this week and it will be downloading to my Kindle on Tuesday. I am reading it now… well, I was reading it until I started writing this post and plan on getting back to it once I finish… but I am loving it so far.

I have not read enough to uncover who the hacker is or find out whether Lucy and Cole end up together. But I can’t wait to find out.

I love Sarah Ockler’s writing and it’s been ages since I read a book by her and I’m so excited to finally get the chance to read her latest release just a bit early. And I can’t wait to get back to reading it just as soon as I finish this post.

    Description…

Lucy’s learned some important lessons from tabloid darling Jayla Heart’s all-too-public blunders: Avoid the spotlight, don’t feed the Internet trolls, and keep your secrets secret. The policy has served Lucy well all through high school, so when her best friend Ellie gets sick before prom and begs her to step in as Cole’s date, she accepts with a smile, silencing about ten different reservations. Like the one where she’d rather stay home shredding online zombies. And the one where she hates playing dress-up. And especially the one where she’s been secretly in love with Cole since the dawn of time.

When Cole surprises her at the after party with a kiss under the stars, it’s everything Lucy has ever dreamed of… and the biggest BFF deal-breaker ever. Despite Cole’s lingering sweetness, Lucy knows they’ll have to ’fess up to Ellie. But before they get the chance, Lucy’s own Facebook profile mysteriously explodes with compromising pics of her and Cole, along with tons of other students’ party indiscretions. Tagged. Liked. And furiously viral.

By Monday morning, Lucy’s been branded a slut, a backstabber, and a narc, mired in a tabloid-worthy scandal just weeks before graduation.

Lucy’s been battling undead masses online long enough to know there’s only one way to survive a disaster of this magnitude: Stand up and fight. Game plan? Uncover and expose the Facebook hacker, win back her best friend’s trust, and graduate with a clean slate.

There’s just one snag—Cole. Turns out Lucy’s not the only one who’s been harboring unrequited love…

    17First Kisses

    AddtoGRicy

17 FIRST KISSES by Rachael Allen will be released in the U.S. on June 17, 2014 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 352 pages.

I couldn’t resist going off-pile last week to read 17 FIRST KISSES just a little bit early. I absolutely loved the way Claire’s story was revealed. It was sweet and sad and it had a number of positive messages. And I’m thrilled that the finished copy will be downloading to my Kindle this week.

As I have read it, and will be posting a review on Tuesday, I won’t ramble on here about what I thought and what I know. But I will say that it was a super quick read and while it may at first seem to be just a light and fluffy read, it has much more to offer as the story progresses.

The description calls this story “moving” and “heartfelt, and often hilarious” and I completely agree. And although I won’t be reading it when it downloads this week, as I only just recently read it, I still can’t wait for it to get added to my permanent collection.

    Description…

No matter how many boys Claire kisses, she can’t seem to find a decent boyfriend. Someone who wouldn’t rather date her gorgeous best friend, Megan. Someone who won’t freak out when he learns about the tragedy her family still hasn’t recovered from. Someone whose kisses can carry her away from her backwoods town for one fleeting moment.

    Until Claire meets Luke.

But Megan is falling for Luke, too, and if there’s one thing Claire knows for sure, it’s that Megan’s pretty much irresistible.

With true love and best friendship on the line, Claire suddenly has everything to lose. And what she learns—about her crush, her friends, and most of all herself—makes the choices even harder.

In her moving debut, Rachael Allen brilliantly captures the complexities of friendship, the struggles of self-discovery, and the difficulties of trying to find love in high school. Fans of Sarah Ockler, Susane Colasanti, and Stephanie Perkins will fall head over heels for this addictive, heartfelt, and often hilarious modern love story.

    Dark Metropolis

    AddtoGRicy

DARK METROPOLIS by Jaclyn Dolamore will be released in the U.S. on June 17, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Disney-Hyperion, the print edition is 304 pages.

DARK METROPOLIS is the first book in a new series of the same name by Author Jaclyn Dolamore. The sequel is currently untitled.

I am so curious about DARK METROPOLIS and I cannot wait for it to download to my Kindle on the 17th. I pre-ordered it based upon the cover, the title and the author, but now that I’ve read the description I am even more excited.

The setting sounds awesome – a “sinister city, where danger lurks and greed rules.” And I can’t wait to uncover its secrets. But I also can’t wait to meet Thea and explore the glitzy and decadent Telephone Club.

I am intrigued by this story that’s billed as a “thriller with a touch of magic.” Though I am a bit puzzled – and more than a little bit curious – about the comparison: “Cabaret meets Cassandra Clare.” I suppose it refers to the author’s writing and not the author herself? Either way, I hope to be able to check it out in the next few weeks.

    Description…

Cabaret meets Cassandra Clare-a haunting magical thriller set in a riveting 1930s-esque world.

Sixteen-year-old Thea Holder’s mother is cursed with a spell that’s driving her mad, and whenever they touch, Thea is chilled by the magic, too. With no one else to contribute, Thea must make a living for both of them in a sinister city, where danger lurks and greed rules.

Thea spends her nights waitressing at the decadent Telephone Club attending to the glitzy clientele. But when her best friend, Nan, vanishes, Thea is compelled to find her. She meets Freddy, a young, magnetic patron at the club, and he agrees to help her uncover the city’s secrets-even while he hides secrets of his own.

Together, they find a whole new side of the city. Unrest is brewing behind closed doors as whispers of a gruesome magic spread. And if they’re not careful, the heartless masterminds behind the growing disappearances will be after them, too.

Perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare, this is a chilling thriller with a touch of magic where the dead don’t always seem to stay that way.

    Description:

Back to the Future meets Fast Times at Ridgemont High when Haley’s summer vacation takes a turn for the retro in this totally rad romantic fantasy.

Summer officially sucks. Thanks to a stupid seizure she had a few months earlier, Haley’s stuck going on vacation with her dad and his new family to Disney’s Fort Wilderness instead of enjoying the last session of summer camp back home with her friends. Fort Wilderness holds lots of childhood memories for her father, but surely nothing for Haley. But then a new seizure triggers something she’s never before experienced—time travel—and she ends up in River Country, the campground’s long-abandoned water park, during its heyday.

    The year? 1982.

And there—with its amusing fashion, “oldies” music, and primitive technology—she runs into familiar faces: teenage Dad and Mom before they’d even met. Somehow, Haley must find her way back to the twenty-first century before her present-day parents anguish over her disappearance, a difficult feat now that she’s met Jason, one of the park’s summer residents and employees, who takes the strangely dressed stowaway under his wing.

Seizures aside, Haley’s used to controlling her life, and she has no idea how to deal with this dilemma. How can she be falling for a boy whose future she can’t share?

It is a super quiet week for releases this week. So I’m sure I missed a ton of new releases when scouring Amazon last month. I suppose I’ll find out what else released when my pre-orders start to download, and I’ll add them to next week’s post if there are any missed books.

I want to order I AM THE MISSION, but it’s still not available at Amazon due to the conflict. But after having read a few of the “other books of note” descriptions, I am going to be adding FAN ART and SUMMER OF YESTERDAY to my collection when they release.

And as I’m trying to read at least two books today, I’m just going to wish you a happy rest of your weekend instead of rambling on for a few more paragraphs. Oh… and if you are celebrating Father’s Day or spending the day with your Dad, I wish you an amazing day!

    DotsDiv2

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #128

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of June 11th-June 17th that I have pre-ordered.

    Another Little Piece

    addtogoodreads

ANOTHER LITTLE PIECE by Kate Karyus Quinn will be released in the U.S. on June 11, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 432 pages.

    Line_001

I am so excited for the release of ANOTHER LITTLE PIECE on Tuesday. I’ve had it pre-ordered ever since I stumbled upon it a few months ago and I cannot believe that release day is finally almost here.

I did get an eARC for review but was having a bit of an issue with the formatting, so I decided to wait to finish it when my Kindle edition downloads. But it hasn’t been easy… the wait has been killer.

This book is so completely different from any of those I’ve read in recent years. The author’s voice and the way the story presents itself is quite unique. And the story is most definitely “haunting,” as the description so aptly calls it.

While I haven’t yet finished reading it, I have read enough to know that this is my kind of book. And I cannot wait to see how it all ends next week, just as soon as Novella Reading Week ends.

    Dance of the Red Death

    addtogoodreads

DANCE OF THE RED DEATH by Bethany Griffin will be released in the U.S. on June 11, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Greenwillow Books, the print edition is 336 pages.

DANCE OF THE RED DEATH is the second and final full-length book in author Bethany Griffin’s Masque of the Red Death series.

    Line_001

I cannot wait for both my eBook to download and my print copy, with its beautiful deckle edge, to arrive on Tuesday. DANCE OF THE RED DEATH was an amazing follow-up to the first book in the series. And as sad as I am that the series has ended, I am so unbelievably stoked to have had the chance to read it early.

As it was my Book Watch pick a few weeks ago, and I plan on posting my review on Tuesday, I won’t go rambling on and on about this sequel. I’m also just a little bit afraid that I might reveal too much, like why certain events broke my heart, why I was fascinated with what happened at the party, why I couldn’t decide between Will and Elliott.

I probably should stop now…. Though I just have to add that things are even more dire in DANCE OF THE RED DEATH, things do get resolved by the story’s end, and there are things in this book that made me cheer, things that made me tear up and many, many things that made me so very, very nervous.

While I won’t be re-reading it this week, I will be reading the novella, GLITTER & DOOM, and I hope to be able to read both books in this series again this summer.

    div1

    Rush

    addtogoodreads

RUSH by Eve Silver will be released in the U.S. on June 11, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Katherine Tegen Books, the print edition is 368 pages.

RUSH is the first book in author Eve Silver’s The Game series. The second book in the series, PUSH, is slated for release in 2014 and the third book in the series, CRASH, will be releasing in 2015.

    Line_001

I hadn’t heard much about RUSH until I saw the cover pop up all across the blogosphere a few months ago. The cover was awesome and the title grabbed me so I decided to pre-order it for my Kindle without having actually read the description.

And if I had realized I had an early copy thanks to Jaime of Two Chicks on Books, I would have checked it out a bit more before its release. But as release day is just about here, I’m a little too late to do that.

But now that I have taken a peek at the description, I’m totally intrigued. Is it a game? Is it reality? And just what is the “deadly turn” the description mentions? I want to know.

While I can’t check it out this week, I think I’m going to have to add it to the pile in the next few weeks, because it sounds just a bit different than the books I normally read.

    div1

    Spies and Prejudice

    addtogoodreads

SPIES AND PREJUDICE by Talia Vance will be released in the U.S. on June 11, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by EgmontUSA, the print edition is 304 pages.

    Line_001

I love author Talia Vance’s writing. And I’m totally stoked to be able to add SPIES AND PREJUDICE to my collection this week. While I’m not exactly an Austen fan, I do think the framework of her story is interesting and I love the idea that this story gives that one a nod.

Even if I hadn’t read a book by the author before, I would have pre-ordered this book for my Kindle based on the first line in the description – “Fields’ Rule #1: Don’t fall for the enemy.” Because it tells me two things about the book – one that Fields is going to be a character I like and, two, she is going to fall for the enemy.

But the rest of the description also makes me excited to read this book. It sounds like a lot of fun with a bit of a mystery and two characters I can’t wait to meet. And I cannot wait to get this on my reading pile. Which I definitely plan to do after the challenge.

    TheImmortalCircusActTwo_COVER

    addtogoodreads

THE IMMORTAL CIRCUS: ACT TWO by A.R. Kahler will be released in the U.S. on June 11, 2013 in Kindle serial book format only. A paperback edition will be released in August.

Published by 47North, it is currently available to pre-order online at AMAZON.

THE IMMORTAL CIRCUS: ACT TWO is the second book in author A.R. Kahler’s The Immortal Circus series.

    Line_001

I am so in love with this series and I’m so glad that it was brought to my attention this past winter. I loved reading the first book in the series in serial format and I’m totally thrilled to be able to add THE IMMORTAL CIRCUS: ACT TWO to my collection this week. Well… episode one, that is.

Though I actually got the chance to read this just a bit early. And so I got to experience this second book in its entirety, in one sitting, instead of in serial format. Which makes me happy and sad. Happy because I don’t have to wait between reads. But sad because I know exactly where each episode ends and begins and just how deliciously torturous it would have been to experience as a serial.

Even though I have read ACT TWO already, I think I am going to re-read each Episode as they release, to experience it that way again. While it won’t be quite as torturous, I think I still will be anxiously awaiting the next episode’s release. And given all the stuff that happens in the Cirque des Immortels and all that is revealed about Vivienne, I just know it will be every bit as exciting a read as it was the first time.

    Born of Illusion

    addtogoodreads

BORN OF ILLUSION by Teri Brown will be released in the U.S. on June 11, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Balzer + Bray, the print edition is 384 pages.

BORN OF ILLUSION is the first book in author Teri Brown’s series of the same name. The second book in the series, BORN OF DECEPTION, is expected in 2014.

I am devastated that I didn’t get the chance to finish reading BORN OF ILLUSION before its release. I’d received an early copy from Jaime of Two Chicks on Books and read about one-fourth before I was forced to set it aside to read the books I needed to read for review.

But I have had it pre-ordered for my Kindle and I cannot wait until it downloads so I can read the finished version. And I think I’m going to end up purchasing the print edition which has a deckle edge, because the cover is gorgeous. I’m just waiting to see if it has a matte or glossy finish first.

I love the time period the story is set in – the 1920s. I love that it’s set in New York and involves illusionists and real magic. And I cannot wait to continue this story and find out just what happens with Anna Van Housen and whether she is related to the “greatest magician of all.”

If I can get it on the pile again before the end of the month I will be a very happy girl.

When I saw that author Amber Kizer had a new book releasing last month I instantly added it to my pre-orders. I hadn’t heard of A MATTER OF DAYS until I was searching for June releases for my Book Watch post last month.

I immediately added it to buy, but didn’t actually read the description until I was creating this post. But now that I have, I think it sounds totally cool – the world sounds wonderfully dark and the journey sounds like it will be fraught with danger.

Traveling across the country in the hope of finding a survivalist compound through a world that has been decimated by the BluStar pandemic sounds like it will be incredibly exciting. And with no promise that this destination will even exist makes it sound that much more of a nerve-wracking adventure.

I can’t wait to find out what happens to Nadia, Rabbit and the rest of the kids on this journey and whether their trip was in vain. And I hope to do so early next month during the holiday.

Once again this week there are a ton of new books releasing. While I only have seven books pre-ordered, there are a few of the books of note that I’m definitely interested in taking a longer look at, including LINKED and BURNING. But for now I’m going to stick with pre-ordering just the seven.

Fortunately not all seven are being added to the pile – I did finish two of them – though both read books are ones I plan on re-reading….

But hopefully I’ll get a chance to read a few more of the new additions to my collection before the month is out – ANOTHER LITTLE PIECE, SPIES AND PREJUDICE, BORN OF ILLUSION – and the remainder I’ll get to finish next month. But, I suppose, that shall remain to be determined.

    Anyway…

As this is such a long post, with all the new releases this week, I’ll stop rambling and just say that I hope you have some amazing new books getting added to your collection this week. And if I missed something in my searches, please let me know! As I never, ever, want to miss an awesome title that should be in my permanent collection.

As always, happy book acquiring and happy reading!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
