I am super excited to be one of today’s stops on the ALL LINED UP Blog Tour so that I can ramble on and on about this awesome book. Finally! I’ve been trying to keep my opinions quiet as I knew I was hosting a review stop today. But as I read this book ages ago, I have been dying to talk about it for the longest time.
If you haven’t yet read a book by Cora Carmack, ALL LINED UP is a fantastic way to be introduced to the author’s writing and characters. It’s the first book in her new series, Rusk University. So there’s no catching up to do.
There are a ton of stops on this tour, which runs from May 14th through the 26th. If you’d like to check out the full schedule, just click the banner above or the link at the bottom of this post. I’ve only included today’s stops in the post. But I’ll be updating them with direct links to the reviews and author interview.

First, though, here’s some information about ALL LINED UP.
About All Lined Up

NOTE: This review is based on an eARC received from the publisher, via Edelweiss, in exchange for my honest thoughts about the book.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Carmack follows up her trio of hits—Losing It, Faking It, and Finding It—with this thrilling first novel in an explosive series bursting with the Texas flavor, edge, and steamy romance of Friday Night Lights.
In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.
Dallas Cole loathes football. That’s what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.
But life doesn’t always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.
Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It’s obliterated.
Dallas doesn’t know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn’t know that Dallas is his new coach’s daughter.
And neither of them know how to walk away from the attraction they feel.
Cora Carmack’s ALL LINED UP is a sweet, sexy, and totally addictive read. Told in alternating POVs, readers will get the inside scoop on what both Dallas and Carson are thinking, what they know, and what they don’t. And with all that they don’t know, it makes for an incredibly exciting and romantic story.
Dallas is not at all interested in getting involved with a football player. Not after having her heart broken by one already. And especially not someone who plays for the team coached by her father at Rusk University. Carson isn’t looking to get involved with anyone at all. Football is his best chance for the kind of future he wants. He needs to stay focused. He can’t afford to fail.
Staying away from each other would be better for everyone. But when that proves impossible, the next best thing is to just be friends. She won’t be breaking her rule of not dating football players. He won’t be risking his scholarship or his spot on the team. It’s the perfect solution… as long as they can resist their attraction for each other.
ALL LINED UP is a lightning fast, one-sit read with two characters who are instantly likable and relatable. Dallas is clever, witty and determined. Carson is dedicated, driven and undeniably sexy. Their chemistry is electric. And their love story is one readers will be rooting for from that very first moment on the balcony and the next one just beneath it, to the story’s end.
Author Cora Carmack gets the win for this first installment in her Rusk University series. A captivating storyline, a swoon-worthy romance with just the right amount of heat, characters who are easy to connect with, and a setting that readers can look forward to seeing in future books in the series, make ALL LINED UP a must.
On a Personal Note…
I’m still somewhat new to New Adult. But I’d heard great things about Cora Carmack’s writing and I couldn’t wait for her new series. I love when contemporary romance incorporates some kind of athlete into the story. And I’m particularly fond of football players.
So when I read the description for ALL LINED UP I just knew this would be a book I’d love. And I was not wrong.
I fell in love with the love story during the scene when Dallas was dangling off the balcony and Carson tried to be the hero by catching her. But I fell in love with the story much earlier than that – from the moment I read those two opening sentences. I knew right then that I loved the writing and the author’s voice. And I knew that if I had every single book in this series I wouldn’t have been able to resist reading them back-to-back.
I love that the author chose to share things from both Dallas’s perspective and Carson’s. But I also love that not every chapter switched back and forth between the two points of view.
It was so easy to like Dallas and even easier to like Carson. Every time he called Dallas by the nickname he gave her, I couldn’t help but smile. And, no, I’m not going to reveal what that was here.
And of course I couldn’t help but love the fact that I knew more about some of what was going on than the characters did. Though it did ratchet up the suspense and angst levels. And it may have caused me to feel more than a little dread at various points.
This story checked all the boxes for what I’m looking for in a contemporary romance. Interesting, likable female main – check. Sexy, charming male protagonist – check. Swoony love story – check. Tension, angst, heartbreak – check, check, check. Plot that keeps me interested outside of the romantic connection – check. Engaging, smart writing that doesn’t forget that humor and sarcasm are important for balance. Check. Chemistry that sizzles, love scenes that are sexy not skeevy, quotes that make me melt – check, check and most definitely check.
There were two scenes in this book that really stuck with me. One that makes me grin every time I read it, and this one that makes me melt.
“No one in my entire life has ever told me I have a big heart.”
I touch the hand she has braced on her knee, just for a few seconds, and say, “Then no one in your entire life has been paying much attention.”
