    Description…

Like most 18th century Venetians, Adriana d’Amato adores music-except her strict merchant father has forbidden her to cultivate her gift for the violin. But she refuses to let that stop her from living her dreams and begins sneaking out of her family’s palazzo under the cover of night to take violin lessons from virtuoso violinist and composer Antonio Vivaldi. However, what begins as secret lessons swiftly evolves into a passionate, consuming love affair.

Adriana’s father is intent on seeing her married to a wealthy, prominent member of Venice’s patrician class-and a handsome, charming suitor, whom she knows she could love, only complicates matters-but Vivaldi is a priest, making their relationship forbidden in the eyes of the Church and of society. They both know their affair will end upon Adriana’s marriage, but she cannot anticipate the events that will force Vivaldi to choose between her and his music. The repercussions of his choice-and of Adriana’s own choices-will haunt both of their lives in ways they never imagined.

Spanning more than 30 years of Adriana’s life, Alyssa Palombo’s The Violinist of Venice is a story of passion, music, ambition, and finding the strength to both fall in love and to carry on when it ends.

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #185

    releasing_thisweek

Below are the (mostly) YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of July 15th-July 21st that I have pre-ordered.

    Breathe Annie Breathe

    Add to Goodreads

BREATHE, ANNIE, BREATHE by Miranda Kenneally released in the U.S. today, July 15, 2014, in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Sourcebooks Fire, the print edition is 320 pages.

BREATHE, ANNIE, BREATHE is the fifth book in Miranda Kenneally’s Hudnred Oaks series. The sixth book, BEST DAY EVER, is slated for release in July 2015.

I have some catching up to do on this series but I’m totally planning on reading BREATHE, ANNIE, BREATHE out of sequence. This story sounds beautiful and heartbreaking and romantic and I am super excited that it’s now in my Kindle collection.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for Annie and Jeremiah. I hope that she can overcome the guilt she feels. I hope that she let’s herself love this boy. And I hope that she does what’s right for her and not just what was right for Kyle.

As I still have a few review books on the pile, it will be another couple of weeks before I can add this one to the top. But I can’t wait to read it the very first moment I get the chance to, which I hope will be some time during the first week of August.

    Description…

Annie hates running. No matter how far she jogs, she can’t escape the guilt that if she hadn’t broken up with Kyle, he might still be alive. So to honor his memory, she starts preparing for the marathon he intended to race.

But the training is even more grueling than Annie could have imagined. Despite her coaching, she’s at war with her body, her mind—and her heart. With every mile that athletic Jeremiah cheers her on, she grows more conflicted. She wants to run into his arms…and sprint in the opposite direction. For Annie, opening up to love again may be even more of a challenge than crossing the finish line.

“Breathe, Annie, Breathe is an emotional, heartfelt, and beautiful story about finding yourself after loss and learning to love. It gave me so many feels. Her best book yet.” — Jennifer Armentrout, New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You

    Pieces of Olivia

    Add to Goodreads

PIECES OF OLIVIA by Melissa West released in the U.S. today, July 15, 2014, in eBook format. It is currently available to order online at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Intermix, the print edition is 235 pages.

PIECES OF OLIVIA is the first book in Author Melissa West’s Charleston Haven series. The second book in the series, MILES FROM KARA, is slated for release on December 16, 2014.

I’ve been keeping my eye on a number of New Adult series on the horizon and after having read the description for PIECES OF OLIVIA, I added this to my list of Kindle pre-orders. It sounds like it is just the right amounts of romantic and sexy and heartbreaking. And I can’t wait to get the chance to read it.

I love stories where the main character has to overcome obstacles from their past and learn to trust and love. I love stories with hot, “off-limits” guys. And I love it when the characters have instant chemistry.

I have yet to read a book by this author, so I’m very curious to discover her writing. But I plan on checking in with a few people who have read her YA sci-fi after I’ve read this to compare. And I hope to be able to do so in early August.

    Description…

Olivia Warren used to be a normal girl with a bright future.
But on one fated night, everything changed.

Hiding the scars of her past up her sleeves, Olivia transfers her enrollment from Columbia University to The College of Charleston, determined to pursue her own dreams for the first time in her life.

She intends to allow herself a bit of alone time to heal… that is, until she meets Preston.

Preston is best friends with her roommate, completely hot, and off-limits. But the chemistry between them is instantaneous—and as the pair begins to spend more time with one another, their feelings for each other build into something undeniable, something powerful enough to heal Olivia’s deepest scars.

Olivia tries to put her own past behind her and trust Preston, but she discovers that his past might be more present than she ever bargained for…

    Parting words…

It’s a super quiet week for releases this week, which makes me very, very happy. I blew my entire budget for the summer on blog design so I’m trying very hard to keep the book purchases to a minimum for a little while anyway.

While I only had two books pre-ordered this week, after having read the description for THE RAIN it’s a book I will definitely be adding to my collection when it releases on Thursday. The idea sounds a little bit familiar but totally awesome. I will also likely be purchasing DIRTY WINGS as I have the first book in my eBook collection.

And I’m debating as to whether it makes sense to purchase James Patterson’s book in eBook format or if it will be better in print. As it doesn’t release until Monday, and is currently unavailable for the Kindle, I’m going to wait until I can head over to my local bookstore and see it in print before I make my decision.

Anyway… I hope you’ve found a book or two worth adding to your collection this week. If I’ve missed something that should be on my radar, let me know.

As ever, happy book birthdays to all the lovely books releasing this week and happy reading to you!

    Divider

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #184

    BWRTWIcy

Below are the (mostly) YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of July 8th-July 14th that I have pre-ordered.

    Through to You

    Goodreads_Add

THROUGH TO YOU by Lauren Barnholdt will be released in the U.S. on July 8, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 288 pages.

I absolutely adored THROUGH TO YOU and cannot wait for the finished copy to download to my Kindle on Tuesday. I love Lauren Barnholdt’s writing and I was so excited to have had the chance to read this super early.

It was all sorts of angsty and sweet and romantic. I loved getting to see things from both Harper and Penn’s POV. And I will definitely be reading this one again this summer.

I don’t want to spoil all the twisty-turny moments, so I won’t reveal whether there is a happy ending for the two. But as it’s such a quick read that can be totally devoured in one sitting, you won’t have to wait very long to find out.

    Description…

Opposites attract—and then complicate—in this romantic, relatable novel from the author of Two-Way Street and Sometimes It Happens.

It starts with a scribbled note in class: I like your sparkle. Harper had casually threaded a piece of blue and silver tinsel through her ponytail in honor of school spirit day. And that carefree, corny gesture is what grabs Penn Mattingly’s eye. Penn—resident heartbreaker of the senior class. Reliably unreliable. Trouble with a capital “T.” And okay, smolderingly sexy.

Harper’s surprised by Penn’s attention—and so is Penn. The last thing he needs is a girlfriend. Or even a friend-with-benefits. The note is not supposed to lead to anything.

Oh, but it does. They hang out. They have fun. They talk. They make out. And after a while, it seems like they just click. But Penn and Harper have very different ideas about what relationships look like, in no small part because of their very different family backgrounds. Of course they could talk about these differences—if Penn knew how to talk about feelings.

Harper and Penn understand their attraction is illogical, yet something keeps pulling them together. It’s like a crazy roller coaster—exhilarating, terrifying, and amazing all at once. And neither knows how to stop the ride…

    Boomerang Cover Image

    Goodreads_Add

BOOMERANG by Noelle August will be released in the U.S. on July 8, 2014 in paperback, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in paperback and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by William Morrow, the print edition is 336 pages.

BOOMERANG is the first book in a new series of the same name by the authors. The second book in the series, REBOUND, is slated for release on December 9th.

I almost ended up buying the various installments of BOOMERANG, even though I had the eARC and got the chance to read it early and love, love, loved it. I almost couldn’t wait for the complete version to be available so it could become a permanent part of my collection. But I’m glad I did and can’t wait for it to finally download.

This was a fantastic and sexy New Adult title that had me anxiously anticipating every last thing between Mia and Ethan. I loved their chemistry. I loved the situation they found themselves in after the night they met. I loved the dual POVs, even though it made me even more nervous about every single suspenseful thing that I won’t talk about.

As I recently read this, I won’t be reading it again right away, but I will be reading it again just before REBOUND releases. It was soooo good.

    Description…

The first book in a sensational New Adult trilogy from Noelle August

Welcome to Boomerang.com, the dating site for the millennial gen with its no-fuss, no-commitments matchups, and where work is steamier than any random hook-up

Mia Galliano is an aspiring filmmaker. Ethan Vance has just played his last game as a collegiate soccer star. They’re sharp, hungry for success, and they share a secret.

Last night, Ethan and Mia met at a bar, and, well . . . one thing led to another, which led to them waking up the next morning—together. Things turned awkward in a hurry when they found themselves sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.

What began as a powerful connection between them is treated to a cold shower courtesy of two major complications. First, Boomerang has a strict policy against co-worker dating. And second, they’re now competitors for only one job at the end of summer.

As their internships come to an end, will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other, or will the pull of attraction put them right back where they started?

    Earthquake

    Goodreads_Add

EARTHQUAKE by Aprilynne Pike will be released in the U.S. on July 8, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Razorbill, the print edition is 352 pages.

EARTHQUAKE is the second book in Aprilynne Pike’s Earthbound series.

I am counting down the hours until my copy of EARTHQUAKE downloads to my Kindle so I can start reading it immediately. I loved the first book in this series, and after having read the description for this book, I’m even more excited for this sequel.

I don’t want to say too much, as all things related to book two in the description are super spoiler-y for book one. But this was such an intriguing concept. I loved the characters. And I’ve been eager to find out what happens with Tavia given the way things left off.

I have been so nervous about spoilers that I haven’t even looked at the Character Interview I have for my tour stop next week. As I hope to be finished reading this by Wednesday, I won’t have to peek, thankfully. But I cannot WAIT to get this on the pile late tonight.

    Description…

Tavia Michaels has discovered that she’s an Earthbound—a fallen goddess with the power to remake the Earth—and that a rival faction of Earthbounds, the Reduciata, has created a virus that is literally wiping swaths of the planet out of existence.

Tavia is captured and imprisoned before she can act on this information, along with her eternal lover, Logan. Huddled in a claustrophobic cell, they lose track of the days, their attempts to escape proving as ephemeral as Tavia’s newly gestating powers. But then Tavia and Logan are mysteriously rescued. . . .

They’re brought to the underground headquarters of the Curatoria, another group of Earthbounds that Tavia doesn’t fully trust. There, she’s told that she can save the Earth before it disappears. She agrees.

Tavia quickly realizes that she isn’t like other Earthbound, and as her abilities continue to awaken, they begin to threaten her centuries-long relationship with Logan. When Benson—Tavia’s former best friend and romantic interest—appears at Curatoria headquarters, Tavia will again have to make a choice about who to be with even as she tries to stop the virus that is destroying the world and uncover the truth about the two Earthbound organizations that have her tangled up in their webs.

The Half Life of Molly Pierce

    Goodreads_Add

THE HALF LIFE OF MOLLY PIERCE by Katrina Leno will be released in the U.S. on July 8, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 240 pages.

I have been totally intrigued by THE HALF LIFE OF MOLLY PIERCE ever since I first learned of its existence. And while I am so sad that I didn’t get to read it early, I am stoked that my Kindle copy will be downloading at Midnight.

This story sounds so very different from much of the books I’ve read. And I can’t wait to find out why Molly can’t remember parts of her life. I can’t wait to find out who she loved that she can’t let go of. I can’t wait to find out whether she’ll remember everything that was lost.

As this is such a short novel, I really hope to be able to get it on the pile this summer. Hopefully early next month at the very latest.

    Description…

You take it for granted. Waking up. Going to school, talking to your friends. Watching a show on television or reading a book or going out to lunch.

You take for granted going to sleep at night, getting up the next day, and remembering everything that happened to you before you closed your eyes.

    You live and you remember.

Me, I live and I forget.

    But now—now I am remembering.

For all of her seventeen years, Molly feels like she’s missed bits and pieces of her life. Now, she’s figuring out why. Now, she’s remembering her own secrets. And in doing so, Molly uncovers the separate life she seems to have led…and the love that she can’t let go.

The Half Life of Molly Pierce is a suspenseful, evocative psychological mystery about uncovering the secrets of our pasts, facing the unknowns of our futures, and accepting our whole selves.

    The Kiss of Deception

    Goodreads_Add

THE KISS OF DECEPTION by Mary E. Pearson will be released in the U.S. on July 8, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), the print edition is 496 pages.

THE KISS OF DECEPTION is the first book in the Remnant Chronicles by the author. The second book in the series, HEART OF BETRAYAL, is slated for release in 2015.

I am currently reading THE KISS OF DECEPTION and am madly in love with it. But I can’t wait for my Kindle copy to download so that I can finish reading it in eBook format as I seem to only have time to read in the early hours of the morning these days.

The writing in this book is gorgeous. The story is epic. The world is amazing. And because I want to get back to reading it – and possibly finishing it – by Midnight tonight, I shall say no more… for now.

Well, except to add that I’m nervous that the ending will leave me hanging for the year until the next installment releases. I’ve refused to take a peek at any of the reviews or listen to any of the chatter. But hopefully there won’t be a killer cliffhanger in my future. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

    Description…

In this timeless new trilogy about love and sacrifice, a princess must find her place in a reborn world.

In a society steeped in tradition, Princess Lia’s life follows a preordained course. As First Daughter, she is expected to have the revered gift of sight—but she doesn’t—and she knows her parents are perpetrating a sham when they arrange her marriage to secure an alliance with a neighboring kingdom—to a prince she has never met.

On the morning of her wedding, Lia flees to a distant village. She settles into a new life, hopeful when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deception abounds, and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—even as she finds herself falling in love.

    Idols

    Goodreads_Add

IDOLS by Margaret Stohl will be released in the U.S. on July 8, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 432 pages.

IDOLS is the second book in Margaret Stohl’s Icons series.

I have not yet read the first book in the series but have had IDOLS pre-ordered for ages and can’t wait for it to land on my Kindle. I love Margaret Stohl’s writing and I’ve been very curious about reading this series written solely by her.

I can’t wait to meet Dol, Ro, Tima and Lucas and find out what it means to be Icon Children. This series promises to be both action-packed and romantic and I cannot wait to see how the author marries the two.

I did end up peeking at the description for this book – I just couldn’t help it – and I am even more thrilled with the idea of reading both books back-to-back. Especially with an “epic showdown” ahead and with the death of a potentially beloved character to be heartbroken over. And I’d love to be able to read both books later this August.

    Description…

The Icons came from the sky. They belong to an inhuman enemy. They ended our civilization, and they can kill us.

    Most of us.

Dol, Ro, Tima, and Lucas are the four Icon Children, the only humans immune to the Icon’s power to stop a human heart. Now that Los Angeles has been saved, things are more complicated – and not just because Dol has to choose between Lucas and Ro, the two great loves of her life. As she flees to a resistance outpost hidden beneath a mountain, Dol makes contact with a fifth Icon Child, if only through her visions. When Dol and the others escape to Southeast Asia in search of this missing child, Dol’s dreams, feelings and fears collide in an epic showdown that will change more than just four lives — and stop one heart forever.

In this riveting sequel to Icons, filled with nonstop action and compelling romance, bestselling author Margaret Stohl explores what it means to be human and how our greatest weakness can be humanity’s strongest chance at survival.

THIS SUMMER by Katlyn Duncan will be released in the U.S. on July 9, 2014 in eBook format. It is currently available to pre-order online at AMAZON.

Published by Carina, the book is 288 pages.

I am also currently reading THIS SUMMER and will likely be finished before my Kindle pre-order downloads on Thursday. I fell in love with this cover when I first saw it and had been anxious to read Hadley and Will’s love story ever since.

As I have read some – but not all – of this book, I won’t reveal whether Hadley is having a “summer to remember” or whether Will’s arrival changed everything. And I won’t reveal – because I don’t yet know – all the secrets that Will’s keeping.

But I can’t wait to find out what exactly has been going on with him and why he feels the need to keep things from Hadley.

    Description…

Before college, before responsibilities, Hadley Beauman and best friend Lily are determined to have a summer to remember. There will be all the usual dramas – ex-boyfriends who don’t seem to know what ‘ex’ means, pesky younger brothers with unrequited crushes, but what Hadley didn’t anticipate was the out-of-the-blue return of the seriously hot boy-next-door, Will Carson. The boy who broke her heart when he skipped town two years ago.

Will may have shot up a foot and filled out (oh yes), but inside he carries the weight of guilt – for leaving, for coming back… Now he’s just passing through to tie up loose ends but it’s clear the old chemistry still crackles between him and Hadley. Trouble is, it’s built on two years of lies…

This summer might just be the best time of their lives, but is Hadley ready for everything to change – again?

    Parting words…

I knew it was a crazy week for releases, and I am pretty sure I’m missing a ton. But as I have seven full-length books and three eBook novellas pre-ordered, I figured it would be dangerous to keep looking just in case I might have missed something.

I don’t think I missed anything last week. But as I haven’t yet checked my Kindle for downloads, it’s possible that there are a few books I’d missed. Though I really hope not.

And as there are quite a few of the “other books of note” that I’d love to add to my collection this week – WILD, UNRAVEL, IN DEEP, THE DEFIANT, MIDNIGHT THIEF and DEMON DERBY – I really, really, hope not.

Anyway… If you’ve been waiting for THE KISS OF DECEPTION I’m so excited for you that the wait is finally over. And if you’re looking for some perfect summer romance reads, then there are plenty of lovely books to choose from.

Happy bookish acquiring, happy reading, and happy book birthday!

    DividerIcy

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #183

    BWRTWIcy

Below are the (mostly) YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of July 1st-July 7th that I have pre-ordered.

    Sinner

    AddtoGRicy

SINNER by Maggie Stiefvater will be released in the U.S. on July 1, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Scholastic Press, the print edition is 368 pages.

SINNER is standalone companion novel to Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver Trilogy.

I cannot wait for SINNER to be released and for my copy to download to my Kindle. I LOVED this series by the author and one of my most favorite characters was Cole St. Clair.

I am so excited to see what’s been happening with him. I was so sure, when reading the final book in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, that his story had come to an end. Especially with the way things seemed to be going. Of course they didn’t. Thankfully. But I’m even more excited that his story is continuing.

I can’t wait to find out why he’s in danger. I can’t wait to see what happens with Isabel. Heck… I can’t wait to read this and spend just a few more hours with Cole, in this world, which I have loved for such a long time. And I don’t think it can be avoided. I think I’m going to have to sneak this one on the pile this week.

    Description…

A standalone companion book to the internationally bestselling Shiver Trilogy.

Sinner follows Cole St. Clair, a pivotal character from the #1 New York Times bestselling Shiver Trilogy. Everybody thinks they know Cole’s story. Stardom. Addiction. Downfall. Disappearance. But only a few people know Cole’s darkest secret — his ability to shift into a wolf. One of these people is Isabel. At one point, they may have even loved each other. But that feels like a lifetime ago. Now Cole is back. Back in the spotlight. Back in the danger zone. Back in Isabel’s life. Can this sinner be saved?

    On the Fence

    AddtoGRicy

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 304 pages.

I am super excited for the release of ON THE FENCE by Kasie West. I got the chance to read this early and I took full advantage of that opportunity. Of course it’s now been ages since I read it, but I remember it and I remember falling in love with this story. It was sweet and romantic and I adored Charlie and Braden.

I loved their late night chats by the fence. I loved how she started to fall in love with him. I loved how… okay, so I’m not going to keep talking about what I loved because I will likely reveal what secrets were shared and what happened in the end. But I just have to add that it was an engaging and heartwarming story.

And while I may not be reading it again this week, I’m so thrilled to be able to finally get the finished copy for my collection because I definitely will be reading it again some day soon. Kasie West is an amazing writer, I’ve loved everything she’s written, and I can’t wait for everyone to get the chance to read this book and see just how awesome it is.

    Description…

    She’s a tomboy. He’s the boy next door…

Charlie Reynolds can outrun, outscore, and outwit every boy she knows. But when it comes to being a girl, Charlie doesn’t know the first thing about anything. So when she starts working at a chichi boutique to pay off a speeding ticket, she finds herself in a strange new world. To cope with the stress of her new reality, Charlie takes to spending nights chatting with her neighbor Braden through the fence between their yards. As she grows to depend on their nightly Fence Chats, she realizes she’s got a bigger problem than speeding tickets-she’s falling for Braden. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.

Fun, original, and endearing, On the Fence is a romantic comedy about finding yourself and finding love where you least expect.

This coming-of- age test not only decides her place in society – Elite, Member, Inter or Trog – but also determines that Silver is to become an Offering for King Victor.

But these are uncertain times and no one really knows what happens to the teenagers who disappear into Windsor Castle. Is being an Offering the privilege everyone assumes it to be, or do the walls of the castle have something to hide?

Trapped in a maze of ancient corridors, Silver finds herself in a warped world of suspicion where it is difficult to know who to trust and who to fear. The one thing Silver does know is that she must find a way out . . .

The heart-stopping first book in a new trilogy by UK author Kerry Wilkinson, Reckoning is the story of one girl’s determination to escape the whims of a cruel king, and what she must do to survive against all odds.

    Parting words…

Next week is insane. There are a million books releasing on July 8th. So I’m so glad that there aren’t too many books coming out this week that are on my radar. Though it’s always possible I missed a few, like I did last week.

I only have two books – and two eBook novellas – pre-ordered that I know of. But there could be one or two more. And I will be adding THE VANISHING SEASON by Jodi Lynn Anderson to the collection as it sounds so awesome, and most likely Rachel Carter’s FIND ME WHERE THE WATER ENDS, as I own the first two books in that series.

There are a few others that look really good, but as I am trying to hold to a budget for the next couple of months, I’m going to wait as long as possible before I click to buy.

Anyway… I hope that I didn’t miss any new releases. I hope that if you are awaiting one of this week’s releases it will be in your bookish hands and you won’t have to wait much longer to dive in. I hope that the books you have on your radar are every bit as amazing as you hoped they’d be.

And if it is one of your books that is releasing this week, happy book birthday to you!

    DividerIcy

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #182

    BWRTWIcy

Below are the (mostly) YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of June 24th-June 30th that I have pre-ordered.

    Things You Kiss Goodbye

    AddtoGRicy

THE THINGS YOU KISS GOODBYE by Leslie Connor will be released in the U.S. on June 24, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Katherine Tegen Books, the print edition is 368 pages.

I can’t wait for THE THINGS YOU KISS GOODBYE to download to my Kindle on Monday Midnight. It looks like the perfect summer read – both romantic and heartbreaking. And as I’m hooked on contemporary stories at the moment, its release couldn’t have come at a better time.

I’m curious about what tragedy strikes Bettina and why it means she’ll have to tell her family the truth about her Cowboy. I’m curious about why Brady changes when school starts back up. And I’m curious about who Bettina chooses to be with and what happens if she chooses the boy her family won’t approve of.

I was drawn to this story because of its cover, but even more so the title. So I can’t wait to find out what things Bettina will have to kiss goodbye. Hopefully I’ll be able to sneak this one onto the pile this week. If not, I’ll definitely be reading it over the long Fourth of July weekend.

    Description…

Bettina Vasilis can hardly believe it when basketball star Brady Cullen asks her out, and she just about faints when her strict father actually approves of him.

But when school starts up again, Brady changes. What happened to the sweet boy she fell in love with? Then she meets a smoldering guy in his twenties, and this “cowboy” is everything Brady is not—gentle, caring, and interested in getting to know the real Bettina.

Bettina knows that breaking up with Brady would mean giving up her freedom—and that it would be inappropriate for anything to happen between her and Cowboy. Still, she can’t help that she longs for the scent of his auto shop whenever she’s anywhere else.

When tragedy strikes, Bettina must tell her family the truth—and kiss goodbye the things she thought she knew about herself and the men in her life.

Leslie Connor has written a lyrical, heartbreaking, and ultimately hopeful story about family, romance, and the immense power of love.

    The-Stepsisters-Tale-Cover

    AddtoGRicy

THE STEPSISTER’S TALE by Tracy Barrett will be released in the U.S. on June 24, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Harlequin Teen, the print edition is 272 pages.

I got the chance to read THE STEPSISTER’S TALE a little bit early and I loved it. So I can’t wait for the finished copy to download to my Kindle this week. It was such a wonderful reimagining of the classic fairytale and I absolutely adored Jane Montjoy.

As I have read it and plan to post a review on Tuesday I won’t ramble on about it here except to say that it was a quick read at under 300 pages, I loved that the story was seen through the eldest stepsister’s eyes and that it posited that not everything from the original tale was as it seemed.

While I won’t be reading it when it lands on my Kindle this week, I plan to read it again in the future. So I just had to buy a copy for my collection.

    Description…

What really happened after the clock struck midnight?

Jane Montjoy is tired of being a lady. She’s tired of pretending to live up to the standards of her mother’s noble family-especially now that the family’s wealth is gone and their stately mansion has fallen to ruin. It’s hard enough that she must tend to the animals and find a way to feed her mother and her little sister each day. Jane’s burden only gets worse after her mother returns from a trip to town with a new stepfather and stepsister in tow. Despite the family’s struggle to prepare for the long winter ahead, Jane’s stepfather remains determined to give his beautiful but spoiled child her every desire.

When her stepfather suddenly dies, leaving nothing but debts and a bereaved daughter behind, it seems to Jane that her family is destined for eternal unhappiness. But a mysterious boy from the woods and an invitation to a royal ball are certain to change her fate…

From the handsome prince to the evil stepsister, nothing is quite as it seems in Tracy Barrett’s stunning retelling of the classic Cinderella tale.

    In the End

    AddtoGRicy

IN THE END by Demitria Lunetta will be released in the U.S. on June 24, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 448 pages.

IN THE END is the second, and final, book in Author Demitria Lunetta’s In the After series.

I am super excited that IN THE END releases this week and that it will be added to my collection on Tuesday. While I haven’t yet read the first book in the series, I definitely plan on reading it and this sequel back to back in the next couple of weeks.

I am not going to read the description for this book, as I still haven’t met Amy and Baby. I haven’t gotten to know just how vicious “Them” are. And I haven’t visited New Hope.

But I just know I’m going to love this series the description for the first book calls “thrilling” and “unforgettable” with “horrifying twists of fate.” I have a feeling I won’t be able to put it down.

    Description…

The thrilling conclusion to In the After, the survival story of Amy and Baby, set in a near future where Earth has been overrun by vicious, predatory creatures.

It’s been three months since Amy escaped New Hope, and she’s been surviving on her own, like she did in the After. Until one day, her former fellow Guardian’s voice rings out in her earpiece. And in a desperate tone, Kay utters the four words Amy had hoped she would never hear: Dr. Reynolds has Baby.

Now it’s a race against time, for Baby is in imminent danger, her life threatened by the malevolent doctor who had helped start the end of the world. In order to save Baby, Amy must make her way to Fort Black, a prison-turned-survivor-colony, where she will need to find Ken, Kay’s brother. He alone holds the key to Baby’s survival.

One small slip-up on this quest could spark a downward spiral that would not only cost Baby and Amy their lives, but threaten the very survival of the people in the After.

Against his best friend Edna’s (“call-me-Eddy-or-else”) advice, he decides to answer the ad, figuring it’s a clever hoax, but hoping that it won’t be. The advertiser, Reverend Redemption Orne, claims to be a master of the occult born more than 300 years ago. To prove his legitimacy, Orne gives Sean instructions to summon a harmless but useful familiar—but Sean’s ceremony takes a dark turn, and he instead accidentally beckons a bloodthirsty servant to the Cthulhu Mythos god Nyarlathotep. The ritual is preemptively broken, and now Sean must find and bind the servitor, before it grows too strong to contain. But strange things are already happening in the town of Arkham….

    Description:

To tweet or not to tweet . . . what a deadly question.

When Briana loses out on a starring role in the school’s production of Hamlet, she reluctantly agrees to be the drama department’s “social media director” and starts tweeting half-hearted updates. She barely has any followers, so when someone hacks her twitter account, Briana can’t muster the energy to stop it. After all, tweets like “Something’s rotten in the state of Denmark . . . and a body’s rotting in the theater” are obviously a joke.

But then a body IS discovered in the theater: Briana’s rival. Suddenly, what seemed like a prank turns deadly serious. To everyone’s horror, the grisly tweets continue . . . and the body count starts to rise.

There’s no other explanation; someone is live-tweeting murders on campus.

With the school in chaos and the police unable to find the culprit, it’s up to Briana to unmask the psycho-tweeter before the carnage reaches Shakespearian proportions . . . or she becomes the next victim.

Thankfully it’s another quiet week for releases this week as my book budget is just a little bit tight this month due to some IRL expenses. But, I will be adding DEFECTOR to my collection as I loved the first book in that series, IMPOSTOR. So although I only have three books pre-ordered, I will be adding four books to the collection this week.

And as I have so many books already in my collection that I’m dying to catch up on, it’s nice to have a quieter week every now and then.

Of course it’s entirely possible that I missed a bunch of releases in this post. So I’ll have to wait and see what actually downloads this week. But hopefully not too many more books.

Anyway… I will definitely be reading THE THINGS YOU KISS GOODBYE and IN THE END in the next few weeks and I will be reading DEFECTOR really soon, too. So even though it was a quiet week, there are some awesome-sounding books to dive into and I can’t wait.

As it’s such a gorgeous day out today, I’m going to try and find somewhere I can relax and read in the sun… once I finish a couple of posts I need to finish for the blog. And if it’s as amazing a day where you are, I hope you’re out doing something fun or relaxing with a fantastic book.

But whether the weather is perfect or it isn’t, I hope that your day is an awesome one and that one of the books releasing this week is a title you’ve been waiting for and that you’ll be adding to your collection this week.

    DividerIcy

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Published by HMH Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 304 pages.

GRADUATION DAY is the third and final book in Author Joelle Charbonneau’s The Testing trilogy.

I can’t wait for GRADUATION DAY to release this week so that everyone can read it and so that I can check out what everyone thinks. I got the chance to read it super early thanks to Jaime of Two Chicks on Books and I absolutely loved this final book in the series.

As I just recently gushed about it for my stop on the GRADUATION DAY Blog Tour and I hope to post a review later this week, I won’t ramble on too much. Besides, if I do talk about it, chances are I’ll spoil something. I won’t be able to resist mentioning whether Cia will be able to put an end to The Testing. I won’t be able to stop myself from revealing who it is that Cia can trust.

So it’s best that I just say this book and series is awesome and that I hope you get the chance to find out how awesome it is and how it all ends soon.

    Description…

This is the chance to lead that Cia has trained for – but who will follow? Plunging through layers of danger and deception, Cia must risk the lives of those she loves–and gamble on the loyalty of her lethal classmates.

    Who can Cia trust?
The stakes are higher than ever-lives of promise cut short or fulfilled; a future ruled by fear or hope–in the electrifying conclusion to Joelle Charbonneau’s epic Testing trilogy. Ready or not…it’s Graduation Day.

The Final Test is the Deadliest!

    Ruin and Rising Cover

    AddtoGRicy

RUIN AND RISING by Leigh Bardugo will be released in the U.S. on June 17, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Henry Holt and Co. (BYR) the print edition is 432 pages.

RUIN AND RISING is the third and final full-length book in Author Leigh Bardugo’s The Grisha trilogy.

I have been anxiously awaiting the release of RUIN AND RISING and I am stoked that I only have to wait a couple more days for its release. While I have not yet started reading this series, it’s a series that I know I’m going to fall madly in love with and I can’t wait to read it all at once, which was my plan from the start.

I already have the first two books, and would have loved to start reading them in anticipation of RUIN AND RISING’s release so I could start reading it the moment it arrives on my Kindle at Monday Midnight. And while that didn’t happen, I will definitely be diving into book one later this week and will hopefully be finished with all three books by next Sunday.

I don’t want to read the description for this final book, as it will likely spoil everything. So I’m just going to close my eyes and scroll down quickly to the next book on my list so that I don’t accidentally peek.

    Description…

The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.

Now the nation’s fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.

Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.

Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova’s amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling’s secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for.

    #Scandal

    AddtoGRicy

#scandal by Sarah Ockler will be released in the U.S. on June 17, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 416 pages.

I am super excited that #scandal is releasing this week and it will be downloading to my Kindle on Tuesday. I am reading it now… well, I was reading it until I started writing this post and plan on getting back to it once I finish… but I am loving it so far.

I have not read enough to uncover who the hacker is or find out whether Lucy and Cole end up together. But I can’t wait to find out.

I love Sarah Ockler’s writing and it’s been ages since I read a book by her and I’m so excited to finally get the chance to read her latest release just a bit early. And I can’t wait to get back to reading it just as soon as I finish this post.

    Description…

Lucy’s learned some important lessons from tabloid darling Jayla Heart’s all-too-public blunders: Avoid the spotlight, don’t feed the Internet trolls, and keep your secrets secret. The policy has served Lucy well all through high school, so when her best friend Ellie gets sick before prom and begs her to step in as Cole’s date, she accepts with a smile, silencing about ten different reservations. Like the one where she’d rather stay home shredding online zombies. And the one where she hates playing dress-up. And especially the one where she’s been secretly in love with Cole since the dawn of time.

When Cole surprises her at the after party with a kiss under the stars, it’s everything Lucy has ever dreamed of… and the biggest BFF deal-breaker ever. Despite Cole’s lingering sweetness, Lucy knows they’ll have to ’fess up to Ellie. But before they get the chance, Lucy’s own Facebook profile mysteriously explodes with compromising pics of her and Cole, along with tons of other students’ party indiscretions. Tagged. Liked. And furiously viral.

By Monday morning, Lucy’s been branded a slut, a backstabber, and a narc, mired in a tabloid-worthy scandal just weeks before graduation.

Lucy’s been battling undead masses online long enough to know there’s only one way to survive a disaster of this magnitude: Stand up and fight. Game plan? Uncover and expose the Facebook hacker, win back her best friend’s trust, and graduate with a clean slate.

There’s just one snag—Cole. Turns out Lucy’s not the only one who’s been harboring unrequited love…

    17First Kisses

    AddtoGRicy

17 FIRST KISSES by Rachael Allen will be released in the U.S. on June 17, 2014 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 352 pages.

I couldn’t resist going off-pile last week to read 17 FIRST KISSES just a little bit early. I absolutely loved the way Claire’s story was revealed. It was sweet and sad and it had a number of positive messages. And I’m thrilled that the finished copy will be downloading to my Kindle this week.

As I have read it, and will be posting a review on Tuesday, I won’t ramble on here about what I thought and what I know. But I will say that it was a super quick read and while it may at first seem to be just a light and fluffy read, it has much more to offer as the story progresses.

The description calls this story “moving” and “heartfelt, and often hilarious” and I completely agree. And although I won’t be reading it when it downloads this week, as I only just recently read it, I still can’t wait for it to get added to my permanent collection.

    Description…

No matter how many boys Claire kisses, she can’t seem to find a decent boyfriend. Someone who wouldn’t rather date her gorgeous best friend, Megan. Someone who won’t freak out when he learns about the tragedy her family still hasn’t recovered from. Someone whose kisses can carry her away from her backwoods town for one fleeting moment.

    Until Claire meets Luke.

But Megan is falling for Luke, too, and if there’s one thing Claire knows for sure, it’s that Megan’s pretty much irresistible.

With true love and best friendship on the line, Claire suddenly has everything to lose. And what she learns—about her crush, her friends, and most of all herself—makes the choices even harder.

In her moving debut, Rachael Allen brilliantly captures the complexities of friendship, the struggles of self-discovery, and the difficulties of trying to find love in high school. Fans of Sarah Ockler, Susane Colasanti, and Stephanie Perkins will fall head over heels for this addictive, heartfelt, and often hilarious modern love story.

    Dark Metropolis

    AddtoGRicy

DARK METROPOLIS by Jaclyn Dolamore will be released in the U.S. on June 17, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Disney-Hyperion, the print edition is 304 pages.

DARK METROPOLIS is the first book in a new series of the same name by Author Jaclyn Dolamore. The sequel is currently untitled.

I am so curious about DARK METROPOLIS and I cannot wait for it to download to my Kindle on the 17th. I pre-ordered it based upon the cover, the title and the author, but now that I’ve read the description I am even more excited.

The setting sounds awesome – a “sinister city, where danger lurks and greed rules.” And I can’t wait to uncover its secrets. But I also can’t wait to meet Thea and explore the glitzy and decadent Telephone Club.

I am intrigued by this story that’s billed as a “thriller with a touch of magic.” Though I am a bit puzzled – and more than a little bit curious – about the comparison: “Cabaret meets Cassandra Clare.” I suppose it refers to the author’s writing and not the author herself? Either way, I hope to be able to check it out in the next few weeks.

    Description…

Cabaret meets Cassandra Clare-a haunting magical thriller set in a riveting 1930s-esque world.

Sixteen-year-old Thea Holder’s mother is cursed with a spell that’s driving her mad, and whenever they touch, Thea is chilled by the magic, too. With no one else to contribute, Thea must make a living for both of them in a sinister city, where danger lurks and greed rules.

Thea spends her nights waitressing at the decadent Telephone Club attending to the glitzy clientele. But when her best friend, Nan, vanishes, Thea is compelled to find her. She meets Freddy, a young, magnetic patron at the club, and he agrees to help her uncover the city’s secrets-even while he hides secrets of his own.

Together, they find a whole new side of the city. Unrest is brewing behind closed doors as whispers of a gruesome magic spread. And if they’re not careful, the heartless masterminds behind the growing disappearances will be after them, too.

Perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare, this is a chilling thriller with a touch of magic where the dead don’t always seem to stay that way.

But then a new seizure triggers something she’s never before experienced—time travel—and she ends up in River Country, the campground’s long-abandoned water park, during its heyday.

And there—with its amusing fashion, “oldies” music, and primitive technology—she runs into familiar faces: teenage Dad and Mom before they’d even met. Somehow, Haley must find her way back to the twenty-first century before her present-day parents anguish over her disappearance, a difficult feat now that she’s met Jason, one of the park’s summer residents and employees, who takes the strangely dressed stowaway under his wing.

Seizures aside, Haley’s used to controlling her life, and she has no idea how to deal with this dilemma. How can she be falling for a boy whose future she can’t share?

It is a super quiet week for releases this week. So I’m sure I missed a ton of new releases when scouring Amazon last month. I suppose I’ll find out what else released when my pre-orders start to download, and I’ll add them to next week’s post if there are any missed books.

I want to order I AM THE MISSION, but it’s still not available at Amazon due to the conflict. But after having read a few of the “other books of note” descriptions, I am going to be adding FAN ART and SUMMER OF YESTERDAY to my collection when they release.

And as I’m trying to read at least two books today, I’m just going to wish you a happy rest of your weekend instead of rambling on for a few more paragraphs. Oh… and if you are celebrating Father’s Day or spending the day with your Dad, I wish you an amazing day!

    DotsDiv2

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #180

    BW-RTW

Below are the (mostly) YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of June 10th-June 16th that I have pre-ordered.

    The Murder Complex
    Add_to_GR

THE MURDER COMPLEX by Lindsay Cummings released in the U.S. today, June 10, 2014, in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Greenwillow Books, the print edition is 416 pages.

THE MURDER COMPLEX is the first full-length book in a new series by Author Lindsay Cummings. A prequel novella, THE FEAR TRIALS, released last week.

I am so excited that THE MURDER COMPLEX releases today and that it is happily living on my Kindle just waiting for me to read it. I have been anxiously awaiting its release since I first read the description and while I didn’t get the chance to read it early, I will (hopefully) be reading it this weekend.

Of course I want to read the prequel novella first.

The premise of this story sounds awesome, as does everything about it. I can’t wait to find out just how “blood-soaked” this story and world are. I can’t wait to meat Meadow. And I really can’t wait to meet Zephyr. (Who doesn’t love an assassin?)

The description promises a story that is action-packed. And I cannot wait to see just how dark and deadly this story is.

    Description…

An action-packed, blood-soaked, futuristic debut thriller set in a world where the murder rate is higher than the birthrate. For fans of Moira Young’s Dust Lands series, La Femme Nikita, and the movie Hanna.

Meadow Woodson, a fifteen-year-old girl who has been trained by her father to fight, to kill, and to survive in any situation, lives with her family on a houseboat in Florida. The state is controlled by The Murder Complex, an organization that tracks the population with precision.

The plot starts to thicken when Meadow meets Zephyr James, who is—although he doesn’t know it—one of the MC’s programmed assassins. Is their meeting a coincidence? Destiny? Or part of a terrifying strategy? And will Zephyr keep Meadow from discovering the haunting truth about her family?

Action-packed, blood-soaked, and chilling, this is a dark and compelling debut novel by Lindsay Cummings.

    Wings Cover

WINGS by Elizabeth Richards released in the U.S. today, June 10, 2014, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Putnam Juvenile, the print edition is 400 pages.

WINGS is the third and final full-length novel in Elizabeth Richards’ Black City trilogy.

I can’t believe that WINGS, the final book in the series, is releasing this week. I loved the first book in this series and read just about half of the sequel before deciding to put it on hold when I found out that the second book’s ending had yet another killer cliffhanger.

But now that this series is available in its entirety I’m super excited to pick it back up and take it to its end. I’ve heard (thanks Jaime!) that the third book is the best yet. And I cannot wait.

I haven’t read the description for WINGS because I haven’t finished PHOENIX. So I don’t know what happened with Natalie and Ash. I don’t know what’s going on with the rebellion. I don’t know what became of the very creepy Purian Rose.

If all goes as planned I’ll be reading this in the next couple of weeks after finishing PHOENIX, and I cannot wait.

    Description…

Following the cliffhanger ending of Phoenix, Natalie finds herself separated from Ash and unexpectedly reunited with her parents, including the father she thought was dead. But she can only think of Ash. She hasn’t heard a word of him since she and Elijah were brought to the underground headquarters of the Sentry Rebellion. But she vows to find him.

Ash, meanwhile is back in Black City; it’s the perfect place to hide from the Sentry government. But not for long. He won’t give up on Natalie or bringing an end to the terrible reign of Purian Rose.

A pulse-racing end to an exciting series.

    Wicked Games
    Add_to_GR

WICKED GAMES by Sean Olin released in the U.S. today, June 10, 2014, in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Katherine Tegen Books, the print edition is 352 pages.

WICKED GAMES is the first book in a new series by Author Sean Olin.

Ever since I first saw the title for WICKED GAMES I knew that I had to pre-order it. And after reading the description I was thrilled that it was the first book in a series. And while I haven’t had the chance to read it before the finished copy downloaded to my Kindle, I definitely will be reading it this month.

I’m in such a mood for a thriller, especially one that involves betrayal and bloodshed, and where lines are blurred. And if it has the “shocking, nail-biting” finish that the description promises, I think this will be the perfect read for me.

I love stories about revenge. I can’t wait to see what wicked games are played. I can’t wait to find out who comes out on top, and who loses. And now, I’m thinking I might not be able to wait much longer than a couple of days before I dive in.

    Description…

Wicked Games is the first book in a sexy thriller series where passion, lies, and revenge collide-perfect for fans of Simone Elkeles and Sara Shepard.

To all the locals in the small beach town of Dream Point, Carter and Lilah seem like the perfect It Couple-but their relationship is about to brutally unravel before everyone’s eyes.

Carter has always been a good guy, and while Lilah has a troubled past, she’s been a loyal girlfriend for the last four years. When smart, sexy Jules enters the picture at a senior-year bash, Carter succumbs to temptation. And when Lilah catches wind of his betrayal, she decides that Jules needs to pay.

By the end of the summer, the line between right and wrong will be blurred beyond recognition. Blood will be shed. Nothing in Dream Point will ever be the same.

This juicy summer read will keep readers turning pages until the shocking, nail-biting finale.

    Brazen
    Add_to_GR

BRAZEN by Katherine Longshore will be released in the U.S. on June 12, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Viking Juvenile, the print edition is 528 pages.

I can’t wait for BRAZEN to release later this week. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this story about Henry Fitzroy and Mary Howard. I love the history behind these characters, and I am super excited the author decided to tell their tale.

I have no idea how much of the story will be historically accurate. I don’t know how much will veer from fact to fiction. But I am going to love finding out.

As this doesn’t release until Thursday, I won’t even get the chance to take a peek until then. But if I’m between reads, this might just be a book I’m going to have to start reading right away. Because I’m just so curious.

    Description…

Mary Howard has always lived in the shadow of her powerful family. But when she’s married off to Henry Fitzroy, King Henry VIII’s illegitimate son, she rockets into the Tudor court’s inner circle. Mary and “Fitz” join a tight clique of rebels who test the boundaries of court’s strict rules with their games, dares, and flirtations. The more Mary gets to know Fitz, the harder she falls for him, but is forbidden from seeing him alone. The rules of court were made to be pushed…but pushing them too far means certain death. Is true love worth dying for?

    My Last Kiss
    Add_to_GR

MY LAST KISS by Bethany Neal released in the U.S. today, June 10, 2014, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR), the print edition is 368 pages.

I was so excited to get the chance to read MY LAST KISS a bit early. And I LOVED it and am totally stoked that the finished copy downloaded to my Kindle and is now a part of my permanent collection.

This was a one-sit-read for me – which is very unusual for a print book – but I just couldn’t put it down. I loved the writing. It totally grabbed me from the very start. I loved the idea of the story from the moment I read the description. And the actual story was even better than I’d hoped.

As I have read it, and hope to review it, I don’t want to reveal too much here. But I will just say that the description was not wrong in calling this debut novel suspenseful.

    Description…

What if your last kiss was with the wrong boy?

Cassidy Haines remembers her first kiss vividly. It was on the old covered bridge the summer before her freshman year with her boyfriend of three years, Ethan Keys. But her last kiss–the one she shared with someone at her seventeenth birthday party the night she died–is a blur. Cassidy is trapped in the living world, not only mourning the loss of her human body, but left with the grim suspicion that her untimely death wasn’t a suicide as everyone assumes. She can’t remember anything from the weeks leading up to her birthday and she’s worried that she may have betrayed her boyfriend.

If Cassidy is to uncover the truth about that fateful night and make amends with the only boy she’ll ever love, she must face her past and all the decisions she made–good and bad–that led to her last kiss.

Bethany Neal’s suspenseful debut novel is about the power of first love and the haunting lies that threaten to tear it apart.

    Don't You Forget About Me

    Add_to_GR

(DON’T YOU) FORGET ABOUT ME by Kate Karyus Quinn released in the U.S. today, June 10, 2014, in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 352 pages.

I cannot believe that (DON’T YOU) FORGET ABOUT ME released today and that I didn’t get the chance to read it early. When it downloaded to my Kindle at midnight, I was totally shocked. And majorly bummed.

I love this author’s way of storytelling. It’s eerie and totally captivating. And I can’t wait to see if it will be the same for her new book.

Gardnerville sounds majorly creepy – yes I’m creeped out by the idea of paradise. Especially when “paradise” requires a sacrifice in blood.

I can’t wait to find out whether Skylar is able to stop whatever power is controlling the town. I can’t wait to see whether the power infects her and she ends up like her sister instead.

I really hope to be able to read this in the next few weeks. If not, I’ll definitely be adding this to the pile over the Fourth of July weekend.

    Description…

    Welcome to Gardnerville.

A place where no one gets sick. And no one ever dies.

    Except…

There’s a price to pay for paradise. Every fourth year, the strange power that fuels the town exacts its payment by infecting teens with deadly urges. In a normal year in Gardnerville, teens might stop talking to their best friends. In a fourth year, they’d kill them.

Four years ago, Skylar’s sister, Piper, was locked away after leading sixteen of her classmates to a watery grave. Since then, Skylar has lived in a numb haze, struggling to forget her past and dull the pain of losing her sister. But the secrets and memories Piper left behind keep taunting Skylar—whispering that the only way to get her sister back is to stop Gardnerville’s murderous cycle once and for all.

    Description:

Boston, 1891. Sophia Tims comes from a family of explorers and cartologers who, for generations, have been traveling and mapping the New World—a world changed by the Great Disruption of 1799, when all the continents were flung into different time periods. Eight years ago, her parents left her with her uncle Shadrack, the foremost cartologer in Boston, and went on an urgent mission. They never returned. Life with her brilliant, absent-minded, adored uncle has taught Sophia to take care of herself.

Then Shadrack is kidnapped. And Sophia, who has rarely been outside of Boston, is the only one who can search for him. Together with Theo, a refugee from the West, she travels over rough terrain and uncharted ocean, encounters pirates and traders, and relies on a combination of Shadrack’s maps, common sense, and her own slantwise powers of observation. But even as Sophia and Theo try to save Shadrack’s life, they are in danger of losing their own.

The Glass Sentence plunges readers into a time and place they will not want to leave, and introduces them to a heroine and hero they will take to their hearts. It is a remarkable debut.

It’s an amazing week for new releases. I have at least four books that I hadn’t pre-ordered that I plan on buying once I get my next paycheck – THE STRANGE MAID, BORN OF DECEPTION, PUSH and LIES MY GIRLFRIEND TOLD ME. And as THE MERCILESS sounds so creepy and awesome I’m probably going to be adding that to the collection, too.

    Oooh…. and maybe INLAND.

    Ugh… so many books!

Okay, so I’m not really complaining. But still. Each week my Kindle flips two pages with all the new releases and review eBooks. And I definitely cannot read even close to that fast. But I’m trying.

And on that note, so that I can get back to reading my current read, which releases next week, I’ll just wish you a happy book birthday to those with books releasing today and happy reading to those who just can’t wait to dive into these newly released books!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!
