Welcome to Day #2 of the Keep of Ages Blog Tour!

To celebrate the release of The Keep of Ages (Vault of Dreamers #3) by Caragh M. O’brien (8/29/17), blogs across the web are featuring exclusive content from Caragh and 10 chances to win a complete set of The Vault of Dreamers Trilogy!

I am super excited to share Caragh M. O’Brien’s Movie Fancast post. I love the author’s actor selections for her characters, especially her choices for Rosie and Dubbs. And of course, now I will forever picture Dean Sandy Berg as Ryan Gosling. Because how could I not?

I am a huge fan of this series and am both happy and sad to see it end. Thrilled because I finally have answers to those lingering questions I had after reading THE RULE OF MIRRORS and a bit melancholy because Rosie’s story has come to an end  and I have to say goodbye.

If you’d like to know what I thought about this final book in the series, stop by next week for my review. But for now, scroll down for Caragh M. O’Brien‘s awesome Movie Fantasy Cast and for a chance to win a complete set of the series.

Be sure to follow the tour for additional chances to win and for some awesome posts from the author!

In the fast-paced, high-stakes conclusion to Caragh M. O’Brien’s Vault of Dreamers trilogy, Rosie travels to a derelict theme park to shut down dream mining once and for all.

Driven by fear when Dean Berg kidnaps her family, Rosie Sinclair strikes out across the country to rescue them. When an elusive trail leads her to Grisly Valley, the contaminated ruin of a horror theme park, Rosie has to consider that Berg may once again be manipulating her every move to make her fearful, priming her for a final, lethal dream mining procedure. As Rosie struggles to outmaneuver Berg, she unearths the ultimate vault of dreamers and the hint of a consciousness more powerful and dangerous than any she’s imagined before. Faced with unspeakable suffering and otherworldly beauty, Rosie must discover how to trust her mind, her friends, and reality itself.

Propulsive and deeply speculative, The Keep of Ages concludes the Vault of Dreamers trilogy with stirring possibilities for what it means to be alive.

The Guest Post

Fantasy Movie Cast

It would amaze and delight me if the Vault of Dreamers series were turned into a film or a mini series on Netflix or HBO.  As it turns out, I have a film agent to pitch my work to producers, so while seeing Rosie’s story on the screen is a long shot, it isn’t strictly impossible.

If I could select a fantasy cast, I’d give Millie Bobby Brown (from Stranger Things) a couple more years to grow up, plus a mess of wavy dark hair, and then I’d choose her for Rosie Sinclair. Millie Bobby has an intensity about her that would mesh well with the fragile, splintering quality of Rosie’s mind, and she has a vulnerable, genuine quality that matches Rosie, too. When she smiles, she’s completely disarming. The only snag is that Rosie has a gap between her front teeth, and Millie Bobby doesn’t.

For Linus Pitts, Timothée Chalamet would evoke a good combination of streetwise and confident. I can’t tell if Timothée’s eyes are the caramel brown shade of Linus’s, but his hair color is right, and he has a distinctive jawline that suits Linus. I could picture him in the garb of a kitchen worker being drawn into the limelight by Rosie, and transforming for a high status job later in the series. The only catch is, we’d need to be sure he has a faint Welsh accent left over from childhood like Linus does.

Dante Brown would be an ideal actor to play Burnham Fister, who has a complex relationship with Rosie and needs to be played with depth and heart, especially once he suffers. Dante comes off as serious, smart, direct, and determined like Burnham. I can picture him wearing his grandfather’s watch when he tacitly claims his heritage, and I can see him refusing to back down when he’s in danger.

Picking the right actor for Dean Sandy Berg is tough, because the person has to look like the trustworthy head of a school before millions of Forge Show viewers, but he must also contain a twisted heart. I’m going with Ryan Gosling because he can easily pull of Berg’s charm in front of the cameras, but he can also convince us he’s a puppet master who enjoys his evil game.

Dubbs Sinclair, Rosie’s kid sister, is a blonde little girl who is alternately ethereal and down to earth, riding her bike along the boxcars they call home, all skinny limbs and sunlight. In the final book, The Keep of Ages, which is due out this August, Dubbs has a larger roll and her bravery is tested. She could be played by Alyvia Alyn Lind who has a warm, sweet smile one minute and a cheeky grin the next.

I would fill out other rolls with Skai Jackson for dancing, snobby Paige; Kiernan Shipka for theatrical Janice; Devon Gearhart for Henrik with his chinstrap beard; and Ellie Kemper for Ma, Rosie’s loving but misguided mother. It would also be cool to cast my actress/cartoonist niece, Becca Hart, as one of the Forge teachers, since she was the real life inspiration for Janice.

The fast-paced, psychologically thrilling sequel to The Vault of Dreamers follows Rosie after her consciousness has been split in two.

The entire country was watching when Rosie Sinclair was expelled from Forge, the prestigious arts school that doubles as a reality TV show. But few know how Dean Berg was mining students’ dreams in laboratories deep below the school. And no one, least of all the Dean himself, knows that when Rosie’s dreams were seeded into the mind of another patient, Rosie’s consciousness woke up in that body–a girl far from Forge, a girl with a completely different life from Rosie, a girl who is pregnant.

Told from alternating points of view between Rosie as she makes sense of her new identity and the shattered subconscious that still exists in her old body, The Rule of Mirrors will keep readers on the edge of their seats and leave them hungry for more.
