Description…

The fast-paced, psychologically thrilling sequel to The Vault of Dreamers follows Rosie after her consciousness has been split in two.

The entire country was watching when Rosie Sinclair was expelled from Forge, the prestigious arts school that doubles as a reality TV show. But few know how Dean Berg was mining students’ dreams in laboratories deep below the school. And no one, least of all the Dean himself, knows that when Rosie’s dreams were seeded into the mind of another patient, Rosie’s consciousness woke up in that body–a girl far from Forge, a girl with a completely different life from Rosie, a girl who is pregnant.

Told from alternating points of view between Rosie as she makes sense of her new identity and the shattered subconscious that still exists in her old body, The Rule of Mirrors will keep readers on the edge of their seats and leave them hungry for more.

The Review

Caragh M. O’Brien really left readers hanging at the end of the first book in this series. But it was well worth the wait. THE RULE OF MIRRORS is fascinating and unexpected and even more chilling than its predecessor. And it will keep you in suspense, wondering what’s real and what’s a dream. With a disturbing twist you might not have seen coming, a predicament that complicates things even further, a creepy jailor, a couple of mad scientists, and a desire for revenge that overshadows everything, this sequel is guaranteed to keep the pages turning.

Rosie Sinclair was a prisoner in more ways than one and freeing herself would be almost impossible. Even if she could escape from those who held her captive, she couldn’t escape what they’d done to her. But she was not about to give up without trying.

She needed to find someone who would believe her and who she could trust. But her ex-boyfriend betrayed her and her family proved they couldn’t be trusted when they relinquished their guardianship. And with a reward out for details on her whereabouts, finding someone she could count on wouldn’t be easy. Especially when the truth of what happened to her sounded crazy even to herself.

THE RULE OF MIRRORS takes readers and characters even farther down the rabbit hole, revealing an even more sinister plot than that in book one. It’s shocking, unsettling, and more than a little bit heartbreaking. The obstacles that Rosie faces seem insurmountable. Her allies are few and her enemies powerful. The damage done to her irreversible. The chance of returning to a somewhat normal existence slim.

Which makes for one heck of a wild and thrilling ride. And with new characters to get to know, the reappearance of characters both loved and despised, and new depths of horror to which the “doctors” will go, this sequel will be unputdownable.

While the ending doesn’t leave readers hanging off quite as steep a cliff, Author Caragh M. O’Brien does leave them hanging with a number of burning questions left unanswered, the fates of a few of her characters unknown, and the very real possibility that there won’t be happy endings for Rosie, Linus, Burnham, or the other dreamers.

For readers looking for a story – and series – that is different and interesting and tension-filled and gripping, THE RULE OF MIRRORS is an absolute must.
