KISS AND TELL Blog Tour: Interview with Jacqueline Green + Giveaway

Kiss-and-Tell-BT

I am thrilled to welcome Author Jacqueline Green to the blog today for my stop on the KISS AND TELL Blog Tour for an awesome interview in which she talks a little bit about the book, her characters, saying goodbye to the series, and what it’s like working on both sides of the industry.

I was only recently introduced to this series but from the moment I read the description I knew it was going to rock. I have not yet discovered those twists and betrayals in this final installment in the series, but I have my purchased copy on my Kindle and I can’t wait to dive in and find out just who the darer is.

If you haven’t yet discovered this series for yourself, now’s the perfect time. Because all the books are available to read right now, so there’s no year-long wait between each title. And if you’d like to know just a little bit more about each of the books, their details and places to find them online are also included below.

The Interview

Q&A with Jacqueline Green

Q. For those readers who are new to the Truth or Dare series, how would you describe it in 25 words or less?

A. When three girls get swept up in a real-life game of Truth or Dare, things turn deadly. The question is: who’s the darer?

Q. Who has been your favorite character to write about – Tenley Reed, Sydney Morgan or Emerson Cunningham? And why?

A. I think Emerson surprised me the most. She grows a lot as a character throughout the series, and I really enjoyed peeling back her model-perfect facade to reveal the very real–and often very flawed–person underneath. Plus, the romance between her and Josh was my favorite romance to write!

Q. The first book in the series was your debut novel. What was it like having to say goodbye to these characters when you reached the end of KISS AND TELL?

A. It was a milestone for me. I’d lived with these characters for over three years, so ending the series really felt like a goodbye–the end of a great chapter in my life. When I read over the final, finished chapter of KISS AND TELL for the first time, I teared up!

Q. Which of the three covers in this series is your favorite and why?

A. I feel so lucky with these covers; I love them all. But I think I will always be more partial to the first one. I will never forget how blown away I was when I first saw it. Everything about it–from the colors, to the image–was perfect. Plus, it was my book in actual book form. It was a big moment.

Q. What has it been like being a full-time writer after having worked in publishing? Do you find you have more “free” time or are your days and nights filled with your characters and their stories? Are there things you miss now that you’re on a different side of the industry?

A. Great question! I’ve loved being a full time writer, but it was definitely harder than I’d expected. I did miss the industry side–reading manuscripts before they took book form; building buzz for amazing books that the world had yet to see; seeing the trends and challenges and bestsellers from an inside perspective. But I felt so lucky to be writing full time. It was amazing how immersed I could become in my characters; I could live in their lives all day if I wanted to. There are definitely challenges that accompany that – it was often hard to turn the work side of myself “off” with no set hours – but more than anything it felt like such a luxury to be able to let that be my main focus. I have a baby now, so I’m back to splitting my time: mom and writer. It’s the best of both worlds, but I definitely look back on my “full-time writer” period as a special one.

Q. What is your favorite passage or quote from KISS AND TELL? And why is it a favorite?

A. The end!!! I won’t give anything away by including a passage, but after years of writing about these characters and their stalking, murderous darer, it was so cathartic to write those final scenes. I had so much fun revealing the answers to all of the series’ mysteries!
