ETERNAL Blog Tour Reviews: ETERNAL and UNBREAKABLE + Giveaway

Eternal-BT

I am so excited to be a stop on the ETERNAL Blog Tour and to share my thoughts about C.C. Hunter’s UNBREAKABLE and ETERNAL. I love the author’s Shadow Falls series and I think I love her Shadow Falls: After Dark series even more. Della is awesome – grumpy, sarcastic, kick-a** and maybe just a tiny bit standoffish. And with each new story from her POV I can’t help but adore her more and become more invested in what will happen with her and her family, Steve, Chase, the FRU.

UNBREAKABLE is a novella all about Chase, which released in September. ETERNAL is the second book in the Shadow Falls: After Dark trilogy, which released this week. And with the third book coming out in July 2015 there is plenty of time to get caught up on this fantastic series.

My stop on the tour includes a giveaway for a paperback copy of this awesome book. So if you’d like the chance to win one for your bookshelf, enter in the Rafflecopter at the end of this post.

The Review

A mystery or a few, a ghost who demands to be heard, a super sexy but not entirely trustworthy vampire who works for the opposition, an overprotective but lovable camp leader, a fierce and determined but guarded heroine, plenty of secrets, missions and battles, and a killer cliffhanger ending are just a fraction of what makes ETERNAL a thrilling and absolutely riveting installment in C.C. Hunter’s incredibly addictive Shadow Falls: After Dark series.

With family secrets still to be uncovered, doubts about a future with her boyfriend, and questions about her new abilities and what that all means, things have not gotten any easier for Della Tsang. And when she discovers that she and Chase Tallman have a connection to the Fallen Research Unit’s latest case and that they’ll have to work together to solve it, it’s almost more than she can handle.

But with a persistent ghost making sure she doesn’t give up, she’ll have to set aside her reservations about working with him. Especially if her involvement could mean the difference between life and death for the two missing vampires she’s been tasked to find.

C.C. Hunter delivers a second book in a spin-off series that has all the appeal of its predecessors – fabulous writing, delightful characters, an exciting and suspenseful mystery, romance, heartbreak and an ending that will leave readers desperate for the next installment. Some questions from this and the first book in the series are answered while others remain unanswered in anticipation of the trilogy’s conclusion. But enough is revealed to satisfy and to tease for what’s ahead.

Fast-paced and action-packed, with a ticking clock to keep the pages turning and a multi-layered mystery that will keep both readers and characters guessing, ETERNAL is a nail-biting and utterly electrifying read. Add in tension between the main character and each of the two boys vying for a piece of her heart, surprise revelations that invite more questions than provide answers, and passages that are laugh out loud funny, and you have a sequel is unputdownable.

ETERNAL is a must for fans of the world of Shadow Falls and readers who enjoy a well-written mystery that is interspersed with humor, a touch of mayhem, and a dash of romance.

Teasing a Favorite Passage

The word “no” danced on Della’s tongue, but stopping Miranda from hugging was like stopping a male dog from peeing on a fire hydrant. Impossible.

The Review

UNBREAKABLE is an enchanting, sweet and heartbreaking short novella told from Chase Tallman’s point of view that takes readers through the day when he became a vampire and gives them a peek ahead at the first week of his new life. While it can be read prior to the first book in the Shadow Falls: After Dark series or after the second book, it’s best read after having gotten to know him in REBORN but before the events in ETERNAL.

In this brief tale, readers will get to meet a young, fourteen-year-old Chase, his family and his first love. They’ll get to learn what happened in the hours prior to the plane crash that changed his life forever. And they’ll discover just what impossible choice he had to make.

The story alternates between the day of the accident and the day after, with the look ahead in the novella’s final chapter. It’s a quick but captivating read that allows readers to get to know the very secretive Chase just a little bit better and perhaps understand why he’s so drawn to Della.

While this story is not required to understand and enjoy the novels, UNBREAKABLE is an engaging and heart-rending tale about one of the series’ most swoon-worthy characters that is definitely worth reading.

About C.C. Hunter

CC_HunterC.C. Hunter grew up in Alabama, where she caught lightning bugs, ran barefoot, and regularly rescued potential princes, in the form of Alabama bullfrogs, from her brothers. Today, she’s still fascinated with lightning bugs, mostly wears shoes, but has turned her focus to rescuing mammals. She now lives in Texas with her four rescued cats, one dog, and a prince of a husband, who for the record, is so not a frog. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, spending time with her family, or is shooting things-with a camera, not a gun.
