2014 Review Pile Reading Challenge: October Reviews

I cannot believe the year is almost over! It’s now Month Ten of the Review Pile Reading Challenge hosted by me – Rachel @ Fiktshun – and Reanna @ Phantasmic Reads! There is still time to sign up – yep, there are three months left to tackle those review books! Check out the SIGN-UP POST for details.

Once again… If you’ve already signed up, then all you have to do is stop back and leave your links to your October review book reviews at the bottom of this post. This month’s Linky List – and each month’s list throughout the challenge – will be open for one week beyond the end of the month, closing on November 7th.

If for some reason you forget to link up your review during the month, you can always add that link to next month’s Linky List. BUT you cannot enter a review link more than once.

August & September Reads

As previously mentioned, since I’m posting every other month, I have two months worth of bookish reads to share. (And since I won’t be posting again until December, I’m sharing the books which I hope to read in October and November.)

I did not read all eight books I planned on reading (surprise, surprise) – though I still plan on reading a few of those releasing in October and November. But I just haven’t read them yet.

Though I did end up writing and posting my reviews for earlier reads – THE VAULT OF DREAMERS, BLACK ICE, DARK SKYE, FORECAST – in August and September. And I plan on posting reviews for A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU, #scandal, STAY WITH ME, SNOW LIKE ASHES, and TRIAL BY FIRE this month… hopefully.

My reads in August & September were…

  1. WILD by Sophie Jordan. Read 8.1.14.
  2. BLIND by Rachel DeWoskin. Read 8.14.14. Reviewed 9.13.14.
  3. FEUDS by Avery Hastings. Read 8.28.14. Reviewed 9.2.14.
  4. GET EVEN by Gretchen McNeil. Read 9.1.14. Reviewed 9.15.14.
  5. FALLING INTO PLACE by Amy Zhang. Read 9.7.14. Reviewed 9.9.14.
  6. THE PERILOUS SEA by Sherry Thomas. Read 9.9.14.
  7. THE GIFTED DEAD by Jenna Black. Read 9.13.14.
  8. INVISIBLE by Dawn MetCalf. Read 9.14.14. Review 9.27.14.
  9. MADE FOR YOU by Melissa Marr. Read 9.18.14. Review 9.22.14.
  10. ROOMS by Lauren Oliver. Read 9.18.14. Review 9.19.14.
  11. ADRENALINE CRUSH by Laurie Boyle Crompton. Read 9.22.14. Review 9.23.14.
  12. WINTERSPELL by Claire Legrand. Read 9.26.14. Review 9.30.14.
  13. EXQUISITE CAPTIVE by Heather Demetrios. Read 9.30.14. Review TK 10.3.14.

I didn’t quite manage to read as many review books as I did last time. But I did manage to review a lot more of the books I had read these past couple of months and ones from earlier in the challenge. And while I still have a number of reviews to catch up on this month, I am definitely more hopeful than I have been in a long while.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed because October is insane with new release awesomeness and I’ll be completely technology-free for the first week in November.

October & November Reads

Now that I’ve scaled things back started a new blog with the hope of changing things up following that drama I mentioned last time around, I’m definitely set on writing more reviews for the books I have already received for review.

But given the fact that November is always tricky – though I won’t be participating in NaNoWriMo this year – I am not going to up the number of books on my planned reads list. Though I am going to try and finish reading some of those earlier planned reads before their release date.

And once again my mood is all over the place. One minute I’m up for a YA contemp, the next it’s post-apocalyptic, the next it’s vamps, the next it’s non-YA PNR. I dive into books over and over and over again until I can find the one that sticks. So we’ll just have to see how on target I am with the next two months’ reads.

My planned reads are…

I’m going to change things up a bit and opt for six review books in October and just two in November. It sort-of-kind-of worked out that I read most of my review books in one month last time, so I’m going to make October the review-heavy month. And it better work this time around since I have a number of review stops on the various tours I’m participating on where it’s not a choice.

Besides, I’d really love (for once) to be eight for eight when I post in December.

Fingers crossed.

In October I hope to read:

THE PERFECTIONISTS by Sara Shepard (releases October 7th)

FIGURES OF BEAUTY by David Macfarlane (releases October 7th)

THE FALL by Bethany Griffin (releases October 7th)

CHASING POWER by Sarah Beth Durst (releases October 14th)

LOOP by Karen Akins (releases October 21st)

ETERNAL by C.C. Hunter (releases October 28th)

In November I hope to read:

SUBLIME by Christina Lauren (releases October 14th)

ALL BROKE DOWN by Cora Carmack (releases October 28th)

What about you?

What review books are you planning on reading this October and November? Whether you wish to enter the giveaway or not, leave a comment as I’d love to know!
