I am thrilled to be today’s stop on the WISHES Blog Tour and to be able to share a super fun guest post from Author Molly Cochran in which she shares five “icky” wishes. Wishes Katy should never have made. Wishes no one should make. And wishes that might sound really great, but aren’t.
WISHES is an eNovella in the Legacy series that released this week on April 29th and can be enjoyed whether or not you’ve read the first two books in this series. It is a great way to meet Katy, Peter, Becca, Verity and Cheswick and learn a little bit about the world. It’s a super quick read and a lot of fun. But it also holds a few wonderful messages – that something that comes too easily isn’t as rewarding, that the fantasy isn’t always better than the reality, that you should be careful what you wish for because it just might come true, and that even a seemingly selfless act can have unintended consequences.
The third book in the series, SEDUCTION, releases in December, so there’s plenty of time to get caught up on the series should you become introduced to the characters and the world in WISHES. And if you’ve already met them, there’s definitely time for a re-read.
The tour includes a “reviewer’s appreciation” giveaway for a chance to win a signed copy of the first book in this series. So if you have read and reviewed WISHES, you can submit your review links in the Google form at the end of this post.
If you haven’t yet discovered this delightful series and you’d like to know just a little bit more about WISHES, the description follows immediately below with a link to an excerpt if you want to take a longer peek. Descriptions and places to find each of the other books in the Legacy series are a bit further down. And if you haven’t yet “met” Author Molly Cochran, her details and places to connect with her online follow the Guest Post.
And if you’d like to check out a few of the other stops on this tour, a partial schedule is also below.

The Guest Post
Five Things You Should Never Wish For
by Molly Cochran, Author of WISHES
If everything you wished for came true, how long would you be happy?
Of course, that’s an unanswerable question, because you couldn’t know how happy you’d be until you got your wishes, right? That’s Katy Ainsworth’s situation in Wishes when she finds a box in the woods with a message inside reading “Your wish will come true.”
Icky Wish #1
At first Katy thinks about money. Naturally, who wouldn’t? Designer shoes, a Porche, a trip to Hawaii with a few dozen of her friends . . . until the IRS catches up with you. Or you realize that people who don’t really like you are hanging around like gnats in a swamp, hoping for a handout. Or that unsavory types are more than willing to crack you on the head for what’s in your wallet.
Fortunately for Katy, money isn’t what she wishes for, after all. I—and Katy, too—believe that there isn’t much that’s really interesting about money unless you’re an economist. The rest of us would just spend it until we got bored.
Icky Wish #2
Another no-no would be fame. How many times do we have to read about celebrities who OD before realizing that being recognized everywhere you go is more like a nightmare than a dream come true? Having ten thousand people cheer you on stage might feel good for a while—like as long as the ovation lasts—but then, as Janis Joplin said, “You still have to go home alone.” I think Katy is just too smart to need fame. She’ll leave that wish for all the American Idol contestants who claim to have been singing since they were three years old. (What three-year-old doesn’t sing?)
Anyway, the things she does wish for in Wishes get her in enough trouble without fame or filthy lucre.
Icky Wish #3
It’s love. L.O.V.E. What Katy wants—and she wants it more than anything in the world—is for her reasonable, loyal, but less-than-passionate boyfriend Peter to love her. Actually, he does love her, but because he is who is is (namely, a guy), he can’t show her in the breathless, wildly romantic way she hopes for. As soon as she makes her wish, Peter is charging at her like a frenzied bull, kissing her with mad abandon and insisting that they leave school and run away to a Pacific island where they can live in love-saturated poverty forever.
It doesn’t take long—a couple of hours, maybe—for Peter’s undying love to begin to feel like an overchewed piece of gum. Love, as Katy’s first wish, is officially discarded.
Icky Wish #4
Katy wants Peter back the way he was. What has to change, she decides, is not him, but herself. She figures that if she were someone everyone liked, she would be more attractive to Peter. So she wishes for popularity.
Suddenly everyone loves her. Everyone, that is, except her friends, including Peter, who think she’s abandoned them to be with the cool kids.
Icky Wish #5
After that, Katy feels that her wishes are turning to dreck because they are selfish wishes. From now on, she’s only going to wish for pure, noble things, like a gift for her great-grandmother. That seems like a good idea, except that granny hates the gift and resents Katy for interfering in her life.
In the end, all Katy wants is to get rid of the wishes that have brought her nothing but trouble. But in order to do that, she has to face someone who has known all along that Katy’s wishes would amount to a deal with the devil—a deal that the devil doesn’t want to break.

When her widowed father dumps 16-year-old Katy Jessevar in a boarding school in Whitfield, Massachusetts, she has no idea that fate has just opened the door to both her future and her past. Nearly everyone in Whitfield is a witch, as is Katy herself, although she has struggled all her life to hide her unusual talents.
Stuck at a boarding school where her fellow students seem to despise her, Katy soon discovers that Whitfield is the place where her mother committed suicide under mysterious circumstances when Katy was just a small child. With dark forces converging on Whitfield, it’s up to Katy to unravel her family’s many secrets to save the boy she loves and the town itself from destruction.

Arthurian legend mixes with modern-day witchcraft in this haunting sequel to Legacy, which Publishers Weekly said should please the legions of paranormal fans looking for a sophisticated supernatural thriller.
After the riveting and romantic events of Legacy, Katy has won Peter’s heart and is now claiming her place in the magical world. Though half the students at her boarding school come from witching lines, the use of magic is expressly forbidden at Ainsworth, so as to keep the witching world hidden from the blue-blooded preppies, aka Muffies, who also walk the halls.
But the Muffies have at least a notion of magic, because Katy catches them staging a made-up ritual—and to her astonishment, the girls collapse at Katy’s feet and fall into comas. When Katy is blamed, she becomes desperate to clear her name and finds herself battling all odds to harness her growing magical powers in order to save the Muffies and dispel the Darkness once more.

The Darkness follows Katy to Paris in the final book in New York Times bestselling author Molly Cochran’s Legacy trilogy, rife with paranormal witchcraft and romance.
Katy can’t stand the fact that her boyfriend, Peter, has changed so much since his wealthy uncle Jeremiah took him under his wing. In a fit of rebellion, she flies to Paris to attend cooking school. Lonely, she visits a schoolmate, Fabienne, who lives in a beautiful mansion in Paris. But it’s Peter who answers the door.
Katy is devastated that Peter is in Paris—on business for his uncle, he claims—and didn’t tell her. Soon Katy is wrapped up in the mysteries of the strange house, which is occupied by only beautiful, shallow people. And they don’t seem to age. Then an accidental trip through the underground passages of Paris leads Katy to the discovery of an ancient book that just might hold the secrets to the mansion…
