For the past week or so I’ve been teasing the promo videos of seven of the authors of the LOVE STINKS! Anthology over on The Annex. Well, release day is finally here, so I thought it only right that I give it a little love here at Fiktshun.
As anti self-promotion as I am, I couldn’t not at the very least help spread the word about this lovely book filled with fun and heartbreaking short stories by some seriously talented authors.
Each of the stories in this anthology, as you might have guessed, revolves around the fact that for the characters – and perhaps even the author – love stinks. So it’s most definitely not an anthology filled with happily ever after endings.
Though, if you hadn’t been able to guess that from the anthology’s title, the titles of many of the short stories in the anthology would probably clue you in. And they are….
“Love Stinks” by Vivi Barnes
“Shooting Down Cupid” by Marni Bates
“Festival of Hate and Bad Tidings” by Eldritch Black
“The Bite” by Karice Bolton
“Nerdentine” by Naomi Canale
“Love Bites” by Rachel Clarke
“Fat Chicks Don’t Count” by Cecily Chase
“Untrue Love” by Shanyn Day
“Four Days Left” by Tara Gonzalez
“Be Mind” by Laurie McLean
“Geek Tragedy” by Douglas Rees
“Moonlit Prom” by Lynda K. Scott
“Love Hurts” by Linda Wisdom
“Pirates’ Ball” by Carol Wolf
** Clicking the links in the authors’ names will take you to their websites.**
And while I can’t share descriptions for each of the stories, the anthology does have an absolutely delightful description, which sums things up perfectly….
Love is magical. Love is amazing. But every once in a while love stinks! We’ve all been there. Heartbreak spawning crafty ideas of revenge. The “It’s not you, it’s me,” syndrome. Well, this book celebrates all those love-bumps along the great highway of life. Fourteen YA authors have come together to reveal the truth about the dark side of love that few people talk about. But with a lot of humor and a bit of mystery, you might not mind too much that LOVE STINKS!
LOVE STINKS! is the second anthology from tween/teen publisher Ambush Books. Featuring stories by Vivi Barnes (Olivia Twisted), Marni Bates (Awkward), Eldritch Black (Book of Kindly Deaths), Karice Bolton (the Witch Avenue and Watchers series), Naomi Canale, Cecily Chase (aka Cecily White…Prophecy Girl), Rachel Clarke, Shanyn Day, Tara Gonzalez, Laurie McLean, Doug Rees (Vampire High), Lynda K. Scott (Great Escapes B&B), Linda Wisdom (A Demon Does It Better) and Carol Wolf, (Summoning), LOVE STINKS! will take you on a roller coaster of red hot goodness that will make you laugh, cry and everything in between.
As much as I’d like to embed all seven trailers, I’ve since learned how badly that slows down the page load times. So, if you’d like, you can check each of them out separately on The Annex – HERE – or you can check out the playlist I’ve created on my YouTube Channel – HERE.
Each video includes an awesome stop-motion animation introductory clip by author Marni Bates, who created such a super fun promo trailer for her short story. So you’ll definitely want to take a peek.
But as I didn’t want this post to be trailer-free, I thought I’d include my FAVORITE trailer….
… and then I thought I really should include mine.
(Though, to be fair, I have to admit that I had a LOT of help by Rachel of Parajunkee Design who is responsible for turning a simple audio clip – yes, that’s me narrating! – and some text into a trailer.)
And, of course, I wouldn’t be able to call myself a published author if it weren’t for their willingness to take a chance on an unknown commodity like me. I cannot thank them enough!
Oh… and the cover with the very entertaining “kiss-off” letter in the background was created by none other than Pamela van Hylckama Vlieg a.k.a. Bookalicious Pam.
Looking back over this post I realize I might not have been entirely clear. For those who don’t visit me at The Annex or follow my blog’s Facebook Page, I am the “Rachel Clarke” who authored one of the stories in this anthology.
