Book Watch: Releasing This Week #119

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of April 9th-April 15th that I have pre-ordered.

STRANGELETS by Michelle Gagnon will be released in the U.S. on April 9, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Soho Teen, the print edition is 272 pages.

I only recently discovered STRANGELETS by Michelle Gagnon, but when I read the description this book became an instant “must read” for me. So I’m so unbelievably thrilled that it is finally releasing this week and I’ll get the chance to take a peek at it.

The story sounds so incredibly exciting, and the world sounds even more so. I love books with a ticking clock and I can’t wait to find out how Sophie, Declan and Anat end up in an abandoned hospital – I’m totally picturing “28 Days Later” – and in an alternate version of the future.

I’m super curious to find out what secrets each of the characters is keeping and how those secrets will help them get home. The description calls the journey “dark and unforgettable” and I cannot wait to take it, too.

Hopefully I’ll be able to sneak this one on the pile later this week.

INFERNO by Sherrilyn Kenyon will be released in the U.S. on April 9, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the print edition is 464 pages.

INFERNO is the fourth book in author Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Chronicles of Nick series. The fifth book in the series, ILLUSION, is slated for release on March 15, 2014.

I am so behind on the Chronicles of Nick, but because it’s Sherrilyn Kenyon and because it’s Nick, I couldn’t help but pre-order the latest installment, INFERNO. I’ve only read the first book in the author’s YA series, but I own all of the books in this series. And I can’t wait for INFERNO to be released this week.

Even though I’m not caught up, I did take a peek at the description – I couldn’t help myself – and this installment sounds even more awesome than the last. An “ancient force so powerful even the gods fear it,” a foe who is “likely to destroy him” and an element that “knows nothing of mercy” makes INFERNO a book that I’d love to be able to dive into right now.

Of course, I do have to catch up on a couple other books in the series first. Something I really hope to be able to do later this spring.

Dead River

DEAD RIVER by Cyn Balog will be released in the U.S. on April 9, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Delacorte Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 256 pages.

I’ve already spotlighted DEAD RIVER by Cyn Balog for my Book Watch post so I think it goes without saying that I am more than excited for it to be releasing this week. The cover is so eerie and the description is so cryptic that I’m just dying to find out what happens on the Dead River.

I am definitely planning on taking a peek at this when it releases so that I can discover just what happens in the “remote wooded cabin.” I love scary stories and I can’t wait to see who, or what, else is with those teens on prom weekend.

If I don’t get the time to do more than take a peek at it early this week, I definitely plan on reading it next weekend, because I just have to know.

APOLLYON by Jennifer L. Armentrout will be released in the U.S. on April 9, 2013 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in paperback format at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE. And it is available to order now in eBook format at B&N HERE and at Amazon HERE.

Published by Spencer Hill Press, the print edition is 360 pages.

APOLLYON is the fourth full-length book in Jennifer Armentrout’s Covenant series. The fifth book in the series, SENTINEL, is slated for release on December 10, 2013.

I am so behind on this series that I love, but I definitely plan on catching up some day soon with a marathon read of all the books. As I own the first three books in this series and the novellas, I just had to buy Jennifer Armentrout’s APOLLYON when it was made available for the Kindle this weekend.

I am not going to take a peek at the description. No way. Because I don’t want to spoil a single thing about this series before I get a chance to catch up. I don’t want to know what’s going on with Alex and Aiden. And I really don’t want to find out if she’s become Team Seth.

As there is another book in the series coming out this December, I think I’m going to wait until closer to that book’s release before I try to catch up. Because I don’t want to have to suffer the wait, which, from the chatter, is pretty torturous.

Of course if there are going to be a few more books in the series, I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to wait to find out what’s been happening.

From last week…

The Stone Demon

THE STONE DEMON by Karen Mahoney will be released in the U.S. on April 8, 2013 in paperback format – the eBook released on April 1st. It is currently available to order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Flux, the print edition is 336 pages.

THE STONE DEMON is the third book in author Karen Mahoney’s The Iron Witch series.

When Karen Mahoney’s THE STONE DEMON downloaded to my Kindle, I realized I totally forgot to include it with last week’s releases. And instead of just updating that post, I decided to include it here, since the print edition’s release date is on Monday.

I haven’t yet read the second book in the series, but I really enjoyed the first book, THE IRON WITCH, and I definitely want to continue the series to find out where it is headed. I have no idea if this is just a trilogy or if the series will continue beyond three books as I refuse to look at the description. But I am curious to see just what happened with Donna and Xan.

The title for this third book in the series has me so curious about it, but until I catch up I’ll just have to wonder. Hopefully I’ll get the chance this summer and perhaps by then I’ll know whether or not this is the final installment.

Other Books of Note

Zom-B City

ZOM-B CITY (Zom-B #3) by Darren Shan

Pub. Date: April 9, 2013

Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

The Shadow Girl

THE SHADOW GIRL by Jennifer Archer

Pub. Date: April 9, 2013

Publisher: HarperTeen

If you call five books releasing this week that I just have to add to my collection a slow release week, then I suppose it is. Though, as all of the books releasing this week are ones I haven’t yet read, it is quite a few for the TBR pile.

I’ve only been reading two books a week, sometimes three, so five new adds means I’m digging myself into an even deeper hole. I just hope to be able find some time to at least tackle some of the backlog. Someday….

I am also super curious about both other books of note I’ve included. I haven’t yet read Darren Shan’s series, but I may just have to buy book one and see how I like it. It is about a zombie apocalypse, so I can’t help but be curious.

And THE SHADOW GIRL sounds so incredibly creepy in a good way, that my curiosity is totally piqued. I think I’m going to check out some trusted reviewers’ opinions and if they loved it, I will definitely add it to my collection.

Chances are I missed a few books releasing this week that are “must buy” books. But I’m trying not to look too hard or I may end up with a reading pile I won’t be able to tackle in this lifetime and a very empty wallet.

But I hope you have some amazing new books releasing that you’re adding to your shelves. And if you think there are a few I should know about, please let me know!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
