Inbetween (Kissed by Death #1) by Tara Fuller
Coming in August 2012
I am so super excited to be a part of the reveal for the new cover for Inbetween by Tara Fuller. While I was instantly drawn in to the book’s description – a love story, reapers and a boy named Finn – I wasn’t the biggest fan of its initial cover. But I utterly adore this new one, so I’m thrilled to be able to reveal it here on the blog.
And I really, really can’t wait to read the book. The prologue is being made available on the author’s WEBSITE, which I can’t wait to check out, because I want to meet Finn and find out just how he plans on protecting Emma.
I love the simplicity of this new cover and I love the colors. While an image of a couple holding hands has been used before on covers, I think this image, with the models wearing matching simple white t-shirts and jeans, tells this couple’s story well.
I love the background image of the sky and clouds. It has a very heavenly feel to it, which is perfect as this story is about a character who is “kissed by death” and one who is in fact a reaper.
I love the use of the crossed scythes to display the series name and number and the fact that it is off-center, although centered on that road/ladder that disappears into the clouds.
The font is the same font used on the book’s originally planned cover, but I think it’s perfect and I’m glad it wasn’t changed. The lettering is so eye-catching, especially the “n” and the “w” and its being displayed horizontally versus vertically makes it that much more noticeable.
I love that now the title takes center stage on the cover and that all the font is black, keeping things simple and consistent. And the dark color really helps each word stand out from the background.
And I love the tagline. It’s fun. It’s flirty. And it teases just enough to let you know what will happen in the story without having to read the book’s description.
But that’s what I think… now what do you think?

ABOUT THE BOOK
Since the car crash that took her father’s life three years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky—and unending—lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.
It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn’t let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left…his soul.
Coming in August from Entangled Teen. 400 Pages.
Tara Fuller writes novels. Some about grim reapers. Some about witches. All of course are delightfully full of teen angst and kissing. Tara grew up in a one stop light town in Oklahoma where once upon a time she stayed up with a flash light reading RL Stine novels and only dreamed of becoming a writer. She has a slight obsession with music and a shameless addiction for zombie fiction, Mystery Science Theater, and black and white mochas. Tara no longer lives in a one stop light town. Now she lives with her family in a slightly larger town in North Carolina where they have at least three stoplights.
