Below are the YA books coming out this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.
These are books for the week of July 3rd-July 9th that I have pre-ordered.
Once by Anna Carey will be released in the U.S. on July 3, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. (A paperback edition will be available on July 20, 2012.) It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by Harper Collins, the print edition is 336 pages.
Once is the second book in the Eve trilogy by author Anna Carey. The third book in the series, Rise, is slated for release in 2013.
I can’t believe I still haven’t met Eve. I’ve been dying to meet Eve. And now, in just a few hours, Once will be downloading to my Kindle and I can’t believe I haven’t gotten caught up on the series so that I can read it this week.
I have been waiting for this book’s release. I even spotlighted it last month for my Book Watch post but I just couldn’t find the time to get caught up. Though I may be able to sneak in back-to-back reads later this week. Which actually sounds like an awesome idea.
I can’t wait to go with Eve on her journey and find out just what secret she discovers about her past. I can’t wait to be caught up in a “tale of romance, adventure, and sacrifice” as the description promises. And I can’t wait to join all other fans of the series who will have to suffer the wait for Rise which won’t be released until next year.
Waking Storms by Sarah Porter will be released in the U.S. on July 3, 2012 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available online to pre-order in all formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by Harcourt Children’s Books, the print edition is 400 pages.
Waking Storms is the second book in the Lost Voices trilogy. The third book, The Twice Lost, is slated for release in 2013.
I have not had a chance to read Lost Voices but I’d heard such amazing things about it that I decided to pre-order the sequel, Waking Storms, with the hope of catching up on this series later this summer.
I am very interested in meeting Luce and learning about just what life is like for mermaids in this world the author created. I am curious to find out, in this sequel, whether she decides to return to her tribe and become their queen or continue to live her life on her own.
And I can’t wait to find out if humans really do know of the mermaids’ existence and if Dorian and Luce’s love can really overcome their hatred for each other. As always, I love stories of “forbidden romance” so I can’t wait to find out if things will end happily for Dorian and Luce or if I’ll have to wait for the third book in the series to find out.
Team Human by Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan will be released in the U.S. on July 3, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 352 pages.
Team Human sounds like so much fun. I absolutely love Sarah Rees Brennan’s writing and this book she has co-authored with Justine Larbalestier is one I’m dying to read. The title is whimsical – though I might just be Team Vampire myself – and a story with mystery, romance, adventure and zombies sounds like it will be incredibly entertaining.
I’m curious about the “mysterious disappearance” and whether Mel will be able find out the truth. And I’m even more curious about both the vampire wannabe and how things turn out for Mel’s friend Cathy and her vampire boyfriend.
This book that the description describes as “hilarious and touching” is one I can’t wait to dive into this summer.

I only have three new books that are getting added to the collection this week, but they’re books I can’t wait to get a chance to read. And even though I haven’t yet read the first books in the Lost Voices and Eve trilogies, I am still super excited that they’re releasing this week. Because now I won’t have to wait to continue the story from first book to second.
I really hope to read the Eve books this week so that I’m not the only person on the planet who hasn’t. I love the sound of that world and have been waiting ages to discover it for myself.
It was another fairly slow week for releases, though perhaps that’s because it is a holiday week in the U.S. But next week, I believe, has quite a few books releasing that I have pre-ordered, so I hope I can catch up on a few more books from my very large reading pile before the new ones get added next week.
I hope you have a few new awesome books you’re adding to your bookshelves this week and have had a chance to move a few off your TBR piles. Happy reading!
As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!
And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
