Last Breath is the 11th book in The Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine.
There were just three books releasing the week of November 1st that I had to choose from for the spotlight post this week. While it wasn’t easy, I decided that I just had to pick Last Breath, the next book in The Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine, as the book to watch this week.
I saw the cover when it was first revealed in the author’s newsletter and I loved the white. But it was the book’s title that got me really, really nervous about what was going to happen in this eleventh installment in the series. The words “last breath” don’t instill confidence in me that everyone is going to make it out of this book alive, undead or otherwise intact.
While I have fallen a bit behind on this series, I’ve still to finish Ghost Town and Bite Club, I am no less excited for this book than I would have been if I’d read them all. This series has been such a fun, nail biting and incredibly entertaining one to read and is always full of surprises. And with every upcoming release date I look forward to each new book with its beautiful covers.
I am determined to catch up soon, because this next book has a new character who Claire is pretty sure isn’t human and he may not even be a vampire. I’m so curious as to what new type of paranormal being just might be introduced into the series this far along. And the fact that his name is Magnus already makes him interesting.
A Claire with too much time on her hands, missing vampires and a mysterious new character in town, makes this yet another intriguing must read in this always enjoyable series.
A long look inside Last Breath is available on the book’s website, HERE.
With her boss preoccupied researching the Founder Houses in Morganville, student Claire Danvers is left to her own devices when she learns that three vampires have vanished without a trace. She soon discovers that the last person seen with one of the missing vampires is someone new to town—a mysterious individual named Magnus.
After an uneasy encounter with Morganville’s latest resident, Claire is certain Magnus isn’t merely human. But is he a vampire—or something else entirely?
Two other books releasing on November 1st to note are Crossed, the sequel to Matched, by Ally Condie and Dark Eden by Patrick Carman.
As I haven’t read Matched, although it’s on my TBR and my eReader and I have Crossed on pre-order at Amazon, Last Breath has a slight edge.
And as I’m reading Dark Eden and plan to have my review up later this week, I thought a Book Watch post would be overkill.
So, are you a Morganville Vampires fan? And are you as excited as I am for this next book in the series to be released next month?
