Book Watch: Releasing This Week #33

Below are the YA books coming out this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of August 16th-August 22nd that I have pre-ordered.

Bargains and Betrayals is the third book in the 13 to Life series by Shannon Delany. It will be released in the U.S. on August 16, 2011 in paperback and eBook formats.

It is currently available to pre-order online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble in both formats.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the print edition is 320 pages.

I am still playing catch-up on this series and am currently reading the second book, Secrets and Shadows, but I hope to have both books read prior to my pre-ordered eBook downloading on Monday Midnight.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series which I discovered last winter and I can’t wait to find out where the story will take Jessie and Pietr. But as I haven’t finished book two, I refuse to read the Goodreads description to find out just what’s in store for the characters.

I have no idea why I hadn’t read this sooner as I received the ARC a few months ago. I suppose I thought that August seemed like a lifetime away and that I’d have plenty of time. Well, time is running out.

I loved the first book and purchased the second book in the series, so there was no way I wasn’t going to buy this one for my collection. Not only was this story immensely entertaining, but adding the Russian element to this werewolf story really made this series stand out as something a bit different.

I already can’t wait for the fourth book, Destiny and Deception.

Chain Reaction is the third novel in the Perfect Chemistry series by Simone Elkeles. It will be released in the U.S. on August 16, 2011 in hardcover and eBook formats.

It is currently available online to pre-order in both formats from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Walker Childrens, the print edition is 320 pages.

I only discovered Simone Elkeles about a year ago. I read the first book in the series, Perfect Chemistry, and bought the second one because I loved the first one so much. I thought the idea of having each story in the same world about a different brother was fantastic.

At the time I hadn’t read too many young adult contemporary novels, but the author’s writing and story were really powerful and I was instantly hooked.

When I heard that the third book was available, I immediately pre-ordered it for my Kindle. Even though I still haven’t had a chance to read Carlos’ story I am excited to get Chain Reaction, which has my favorite cover yet in this series. And, I cannot wait to read about Luis Fuentes and Nikki Cruz even though I’m sad that the series will end with this book.

I had a chance to hear the author speak at the RT Convention in Los Angeles last spring and I loved learning that she wrote from the heart and from her experiences and it made me a fan for life.

I knew this was another super slow week. But these are two pretty great third books in the series that I have on my pre-order list, so I can’t wait until Monday Midnight for them to download.

I hope to be finished reading Bargains and Betrayals by the time I get the eBook or, if not, just shortly afterward. And I have got to catch up on the Perfect Chemistry series, but that might be later this fall. I absolutely adore Simone Elkeles’ writing.

I will be stalking the blogs this week just to make sure that I didn’t miss anything, as I’m always suspect when I only have a few books pre-ordered for a particular week and two books seems seriously light. Of course, the 23rd is a completely different story…

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
