I decided to spotlight Between Here and Forever for my Book Watch post because I love the author’s writing style and the concept of this upcoming book is quite mysterious. I have the book on pre-order for my Kindle and if I didn’t already have an eARC I would be reading it if not on release date, then very soon after.
Just before I started blogging I began reading contemporary YA fiction. Previously, I had only read paranormal/urban fantasy young adult books. Elizabeth Scott’s The Unwritten Rule was one of the first contemporary young adult novels I picked up. I thought it sounded cute and fun and the description reminded a little bit of the chick-lit books I used to read. It was everything it promised to be.
I see that I gave it a five star rating in my non-reviewer capacity on Goodreads, and I don’t think I’d change that if I were to re-read it now. I did end up buying a couple of her other books, but they are sadly still in my TBR pile waiting to be “Just Discovered” and reviewed here on the blog.
When I saw Between Here and Forever on Simon & Schuster’s Galley Grab newsletter, I downloaded it immediately. I knew I wouldn’t get a chance to read it until closer to release date, but I was so excited to get the opportunity to read another book by this author.
I’ve been advised that I should read her book, Bloom, before I read this book, and I will definitely try to, especially as I already own that for my Kindle.
From the description, this book sounds so different from The Unwritten Rule and I cannot wait for its release just so I can get another look at Elizabeth Scott’s writing. Besides, I am really curious to see if Abby’s plans to bring Tess out of her coma are successful and to find out just what secret she discovers.
Abby accepted that she can’t measure up to her beautiful, magnetic sister Tess a long time ago, and knows exactly what she is: Second best. Invisible.
Until the accident.
Now Tess is in a coma, and Abby’s life is on hold. It may have been hard living with Tess, but it’s nothing compared to living without her.
She’s got a plan to bring Tess back though, involving the gorgeous and mysterious Eli, but then Abby learns something about Tess, something that was always there, but that she’d never seen.
Abby is about to find out that truth isn’t always what you think it is, and that life holds more than she ever thought it could…
