Book Watch: Invincible

Invincible is the second book in the Chronicles of Nick series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It will be released in the U.S. on March 22, 2011 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats.

It is available for pre-order online in all formats from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the hardcover is 480 pages.

There are a few books releasing on March 22, 2011 that made it very difficult to pick the one book to spotlight.

Carrie Ryan’s The Dark and Hollow Places is an amazing book that I am pre-ordering but as I haven’t yet read the first two books in the series I don’t feel that I can do it justice in a spotlight post. But I plan on reading all three novels back-to-back-to-back.

The other book releasing that looks amazing is Wither by Lauren DeStefano. But as I have an eARC of this book and plan on reading it prior to March 22nd, I’ll have all the details in that post.

Invincible is the second book in the Chronicles of Nick series. I read the first book in the series based solely on the cover. I hadn’t previously heard of Sherrilyn Kenyon, but the cover for Infinity was everywhere. I saw it at Apple’s iBookstore and on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. After about a week of seeing it available for pre-order I caved and bought the book.

I read it on day of release and thought it was really interesting and different. This was well before I started reviewing, but I did give it a four star rating on Goodreads, which is probably what I’d give it today.

I very much enjoyed the book, which is a young adult spin-off of her adult series – Dark-Hunter. As I hadn’t read the adult series there were elements to the story that I found a bit confusing and very complex. But it was still thoroughly enjoyable.

It really made me want to read the adult series, but as of yet I haven’t gotten around to it. There are A LOT of books in that series.

Once again the cover for this series is amazing and of course I’ve had this on pre-order for a long time. And with the promise shapeshifters and demons this may just be even better than the first book in the series.

Goodreads description:

Just when he thought things couldn’t get any worse…

Nick Gautier’s day just keeps getting better and better. Yeah, he survived the zombie attacks, only to wake up and find himself enslaved to a world of shapeshifters and demons out to claim his soul.

His new principal thinks he’s even more of a hoodlum than the last one, his coach is trying to recruit him to things he can’t even mention and the girl he’s not seeing, but is, has secrets that terrify him.

But more than that, he’s being groomed by the darkest of powers and if he doesn’t learn how to raise the dead by the end of the week, he will become one of them…
