Published by Harlequin TEEN, the print edition is 416 pages.
The Girl in the Clockwork Collar is the second book in author Kady Cross’ Steampunk Chronicles.
Apparently there were three titles I have been anxiously awaiting that are releasing the week of May 22nd, but due to the fact that their Kindle counterparts aren’t releasing until June 1, I missed them last week when creating this post. But as there were three awesome books releasing on the 22nd, I couldn’t just skip that week and move on to the week of June 5th as I’d planned.
So, I’m heading back a week to May 22nd….
It was tough to choose a book to spotlight for the week of May 22nd. There are three amazing books releasing that week that I’ve been coveting for a long, long time. But I decided to put my most anticipated YA title in the spotlight this week, The Girl in the Clockwork Collar by Kady Cross, as I’ve been dying to read it ever since I got my hands on an eARC through NetGalley.
I am so excited that Finley Jayne is heading to America. I can’t wait to find out how the author imagines life to be in her version of New York City in 1897. And I am curious to see just what steampunk inventions, aside from this clockwork collar, will be introduced.
I am worried that they might not be able to save Jasper and Mei. Especially Mei. Her situation sounds extremely dire. And I’m already biting my nails with just how worried I am.
The clockwork collar doesn’t sound like it’s giving everyone much time to find the device that Jasper stole… or enough time to remove the collar without having to cave to the demands of his abductor.
But I hope they do. And I hope this book has a happy ending, or at least one with the promise of happiness in the future. Which won’t happen if anything happens to Jasper. Or to Mei.
I loved the prequel novella The Strange Case of Finley Jayne and I loved the first book in the Steampunk Chronicles, The Girl in the Steel Corset. I’m so curious to see if all the characters from the first novel return in this sequel. Especially Jack Dandy who I found wildly entertaining and totally charming.
If The Girl in the Clockwork Collar has all the suspense, intrigue and excitement of that first book in the series, and Finley retains her fiery personality, then I just know I’ll fall in love. And from reading the description, I can’t imagine that not happening. Which is why this book is definitely worthy of being the book to watch on May 22nd.
