Description…

Vivienne is almost content with her new life in the Cirque des Immortels. She has moved up from selling cotton candy to telling fortunes, she has a gorgeous, magical boyfriend, Kingston…and no one has been murdered since the clash between the otherworldly Courts. Her life under the faerie big top would be perfect, in fact, if not for the nightmares and visions that compel her to seek and confront her half-remembered past. But for Viv, not knowing her past may well be a blessing. There’s a reason she ran away. But can she truly escape herself?.

The second act of the fantastically evocative Cirque des Immortels series, The Immortal Circus: Act Two draws readers further into a world that’s at once wonderful, seductive…and deadly.

…My Thoughts

I am so unbelievably excited to be able to share this AMAZING cover for A. R. Kahler’s THE IMMORTAL CIRCUS ACT TWO. While it’s not technically a reveal, as it was posted on Amazon the other day, I just had to create a spotlight post for it, as I think it’s stunningly beautiful.

And while I loved the cover for the first book in this awesome series, I L.O.V.E. the cover for the sequel at least one hundred times more.

The shades of blue really stand out against the dark background. The bodies draped over one another make for a very interesting and dynamic base for the solo female performer. And even with their presence on this cover, she manages to take the spotlight.

I love how both covers in the series are simple but incredibly beautiful. I love how, in both, the focus is on the performer but the bright white, simple yet elegant font used for the title also draws the eye.

I love how the light source leaves some of the performers in shadow yet highlights the main performer, making the blue in her outfit pop against the dark background even more.

But that’s what I think…. And if this cover turns out to be just as gorgeous as the cover for the first book in print, I’ll definitely have to pick up a physical copy for my collection.

Anyway…

As I am such a huge fan of this author and his series, I wanted to offer up a copy of the first book in the series for giveaway along with my post. This way, yet another person can suffer the wait for the next installment to be released, much like I am.

And if you haven’t yet heard about this author or the first book in the series, here’s just a little bit about them both.

THE IMMORTAL CIRCUS COVER

About The Immortal Circus

Murdered contortionists aren’t exactly what Vivienne signed up for when she ran away to join the circus. But like most things under the big top, nothing is what it seems. With a past she can’t quite remember, Vivienne finds that running away forever might not be as appealing as it once sounded–especially not when she realizes the devilishly attractive ringleader Mab is the Faerie Queen of legend–and that she and the rest of the troupe are locked in an age-old rivalry between the otherworldly Courts.

Aided by her friends Kingston–a feisty stage magician whose magic is quickly stealing her heart–and his smart-ass assistant Melody, Vivienne finds herself racing against the clock to discover the culprit behind a series of deaths that should be impossible. However, the answer she seeks might reveal more about her own bloody past–and future–than she bargained for. The show’s just beginning.

WINGS OF NESTOR (Solus #3)

I am so excited to be participating in the cover reveal for Devri Walls’ WINGS OF NESTOR, the third book in her Solus series. The artist behind the cover, Claudia McKinney of Phatpuppy Art, is incredibly talented and creates stunning and truly magical book covers. And I am consistently wowed by the artwork for each of the completed covers.

I absolutely love the colors she used on this third book’s cover. They tie in to the colors used for the covers of the previous two books in the series, but have much more depth  and vibrancy. And with the model’s stance and the motion of the water, the image depicted feels much more lifelike and electric, whereas the previous covers had a stillness to them.

While the WINGS OF ARIAN cover is my favorite, simply because of the way the model was framed in the opening of the cave and the color tones of the sky, this is definitely my second favorite of the trio. And it definitely makes me curious as to just how and why the cover model is harnessing the power of the water. It makes me so very curious about the story.

Which is exactly what an awesome cover should do.

About the Book

Kiora needs answers. Who is the Shadow? Who is Jasmine? Are they connected? And even more pressing: how can she stop Shadow from using Kiora’s dreams as a map to find them? They have escaped three times, but are living on borrowed time—and everybody knows it.

Her search for help will push her closer to Alcander, send her to the dragon mountain of Toopai, and straight back to Meros—where magic will finally return to the land of no magic. Answers will be uncovered and plans unearthed that have been waiting for thousands of years.

But with the Shadow’s forces gathering, it looks like the land’s path is hurtling towards one outcome: war with the Shadow and death to all rebels. Armed with knowledge and hope, Kiora is determined to change that path. But will fate allow it? Or will it deal her a hard lesson about following ones own destiny?

Kiora thought she had never heard a lie until she was sixteen. But she was wrong. Her entire existence was based on nothing but. She thought that evil did not exist. Lie. That magic was not real. Lie. And that the land of Meros was all there was. One more lie.

With Aleric telling her that evil is knocking on the door and that she is the only one who can stop them she has a choice to make. Refuse, or start the wildest most painful ride of her life.
She reluctantly dips her toe into her new existence of magic and threads, dragons and shapeshifters, and the person who wants to take control of it all: the evil Dralazar.

However, this journey was never meant to be hers alone. She will be accompanied by a Protector. To her disbelief, and utter irritation they name the hotheaded, stubborn, non -magical, (albeit gorgeous) Prince Emane. They will have to trust each other with their lives, but right now Kiora would settle for a non hostile conversation.

And now it comes down to this, If you had never heard a lie, would you know when you heard one? Is knowing good from evil innate? Kiora finds herself having to decide who lives and who dies on those very questions.

OLIVIA TWISTED by Vivi Barnes

I actually hadn’t heard of OLIVIA TWISTED until I saw the email that there was going to be a cover reveal for it. The title led me to believe that this was some sort of a modern retelling of Oliver Twist, one of my very favorite books, so of course I had to check it out.

And when I read the book’s description I was completely sold. This book sounds seriously awesome and I cannot believe I have to wait until November for its release.

But I’m supposed to be sharing my thoughts about the cover, not about the book itself. So….

This cover is super cool. I love the color, the fonts – especially the one used for Olivia’s name – and the code that is streaming down the page. Very Matrix-y. And I love the tagline.

While I know I’ve seen the male cover model somewhere before, I think the female model is very pretty and I like that she’s looking off to the side but you get to see her entire face.

I love the blue, cool tones. And the fact that some of the code is blurred, which makes them look like sparkling jewels in the background.

I might have liked to see the author’s name just a bit larger, or in a different font, to give more weight to the top and add balance, but other than that I think it’s a pretty awesome cover. And if I didn’t know about the book before seeing it, it would definitely have made me check out the description to find out more.

Well, no matter how I discovered this book, I’m so glad I did. Because, as I said above, it sounds awesome. But that’s what I think, what do you think?

Olivia

He tilts my chin up so my eyes meet his, his thumb brushing lightly across my lips. I close my eyes. I know Z is trouble. I know that being with him is going to get me into trouble. I don’t care.

At least at this moment, I don’t care.

Tossed from foster home to foster home, Olivia’s seen a lot in her sixteen years. She’s hardened, sure, though mostly just wants to fly under the radar until graduation. But her natural ability with computers catches the eye of Z, a mysterious guy at her new school.

Soon, Z has brought Liv into his team of hacker elite—break into a few bank accounts, and voila, now Z has enough money to purchase and drive a motorcycle. Follow his lead, and Olivia might even be able to escape from her oppressive foster parents.

As Olivia and Z grow closer, though, so does the watchful eye of Bill Sykes, Z’s boss. And he’s got bigger plans for Liv…

Z

I can picture Liv’s face: wide-eyed, trusting. Her smooth lips that taste like strawberry Fanta.

It was just a kiss. That’s all. She’s just like any other girl.

Except that she’s not.

Thanks to Z, Olivia’s about to get twisted.

ASTARTE’S WRATH by Trisha Wolfe

I am super excited to be a part of the cover makeover reveal for ASTARTE’S WRATH, a book that I just so happened to have had the chance to read very recently… well, most of it, anyway. And I can’t wait to see how it ends when it releases in March!

While I didn’t see what the original cover looked like, I am crazy in love with this cover which I think perfectly suits the book. I love the hieroglyphs in the background, I think the model is beautiful and the tone and color evoke the feel of the time period the story takes place and its setting.

I think the snake necklace adds visual interest and I love how the model’s image fades/dissolves into the glyphs beneath the fonts on the bottom third of the page.

The title font, with its size and sheen, grabs but isn’t too bold to overpower the rest of the design. And even though it is a font with a serif it feels very clean and minimal. I’m so glad they designer didn’t go with something kitschy.

ASTARTE’S WRATH, with its gorgeous cover, will be releasing soon. If you’d like to know a little bit more about it, here’s a little bit…

A tragic love story.

Two thousand years before Dez Harkly developed her secret powers, Guardian Astarte was vowed to protect by the binds enslaving her to the Egyptian pharaohs. Discover the prophecy that originated from a very different time, and spans generations to link two very different girls.

This is the beginning.

Set against the backdrop of the Battle of Actium, in the city of Alexandria, Star struggles with her guardian duties as her feelings for the newly named pharaoh of Egypt grow deeper. Not only is Caesarian her duty, he’s the son of Cleopatra, and he’s human. All of which makes their love forbidden.

But when a conspiracy linked to Caesar creeps its way into Alexandria, Star must choose between helping her fellow Kythan free themselves of their servitude, and protecting her charge—the last pharaoh—while Egypt burns around her.

Cover and Trailer Reveal: Sprung

SPRUNG (Witchbound Book Two)

Coming April 1, 2013

Cover Design by Parajunkee Design

Line_001

I am so excited to be a part of this cover and trailer reveal for SPRUNG by Kelbian Noel. I am a huge fan of Parajunkee Design’s work… as if you couldn’t guess… and I just knew the cover and trailer would be amazing.

And oh my gosh they are!

The cover for SPRUNG is gorgeous. The colors in this cover are so vibrant. Each and every one of the elements – from the flowers to the butterflies to the stars to the lamplight to the girl to the font to the title – is magical. And the elemental symbol makes its presence known. It feels very substantial and yet it works together in harmony with the background.

And the trailer… yes I got an early peek at that too… is just as magical. I can only imagine the amount of work that Rachel put in to add each of the flourishes that made this trailer appear polished to perfection. Even the soundtrack has an exotic quality to it, which complements the visual.

Of course the cover just so happens to look pretty wicked with my blog’s theme as its backdrop. And I can’t seem to stop staring at it. The cover that is.

But that’s what I think….

What about you?

Do you think this cover is absolutely stunningly amazingly gorgeous? Do you love, love, love the trailer? Do you wish you could write a book so that Rachel could design a cover for you?

About SPRUNG

Since she discovered magic, seventeen-year-old Skye Jackson’s life is almost perfect. Almost. Even perfect has its glitches.

What happens when the one with all the power makes the biggest mistakes? Welcome to my life.

Four months ago, I couldn’t have been happier. When my parents got divorced, I wasn’t exactly thrilled. Especially when Mom married a guy half her age. But then I found out I wasn’t the average Joana. Discovering magic existed and, best of all, I could use it, made everything easier to deal with. That is until I got a little too spell happy.

But what girl wouldn’t defend her best friend against a world-class creep? Now I’m stuck in a nightmare, forced to make life and death decisions I never dreamed I’d face.

Love the magic, hate the responsibility.
