WatchBOOK-2

DANCE OF THE RED DEATH by Bethany Griffin will be released in the U.S. on June 11, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats.

It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Greenwillow Books, an imprint of HarperCollins, the print edition is 336 pages.

DANCE OF THE RED DEATH is the second, and final, full-length book in author Bethany Griffin’s Masque of the Red Death series.

div1

There are a ton of amazing books releasing the week of June 11th that I’d love to spotlight. But as I have to choose just one book, DANCE OF THE RED DEATH by Bethany Griffin is it.

Without a doubt, it’s my most anticipated book releasing that week. It’s the book I’ve been dying to read ever since I finished MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH. And it is absolutely amazing. Yes, I’m reading it right now and it’s even better than I hoped it would be.

Of course I wish this series was a trilogy as I’d first thought it would be. Just knowing that when I reach the story’s end it will all be over, makes me want to read this sequel really, really slowly. But it’s proving to be a bit of a challenge.

Because, as I may have already mentioned, it’s amazing. And I want to know how Araby exacts her revenge. I want to know which boy she chooses, if any. And I want to know how it all ends.

There’s just something so hypnotic/beautiful/wonderful about author Bethany Griffin’s writing. I am immediately transported into the story whenever I pick it up and the rest of the world just disappears and is replaced by the one she created.

I love the characters – Araby, Will, Elliott and even Prospero – the fact that this series is inspired by Poe’s story, and that the author has not only made it her own but did so in such a way that, while reading, I often forget it was inspired by anything other than her own creativity.

Even though I will have read DANCE OF THE RED DEATH before its release date, it is still the book I am most excited for releasing on that date. And it’s not because I am awaiting the print edition with its gorgeous cover and deckle edge to add to my collection along with the eBook. It’s because this series is one of the ones that I think is unforgettable and plan on reading again and again.

So, as excited as I am about several of the other books releasing the week of June 11th, there is no other book I’m anticipating quite as much as Bethany Griffin’s amazing sequel, DANCE OF THE RED DEATH. Which is why, for me, it is the book to watch this week.

About the Book

Goodreads description:

Bethany Griffin continues the journey of Araby Worth in Dance of the Red Death—the sequel to her teen novel Masque of the Red Death.

In Dance of the Red Death, Araby’s world is in shambles—betrayal, death, disease, and evil forces surround her. She has no one to trust. But she finds herself and discovers that she will fight for the people she loves, and for her city.

Her revenge will take place at the menacing masked ball, though it could destroy her and everyone she loves…or it could turn her into a hero.

With a nod to Edgar Allan Poe, Bethany Griffin concludes her tragic and mysterious Red Death series with a heroine that young adult readers will never forget.

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #125

May 19

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of May 21st-May 27th that I have pre-ordered.

05

Night School

addtogoodreads

NIGHT SCHOOL by C.J. Daugherty will be released in the U.S. on May 21, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Katherine Tegen Books, the print edition is 432 pages.

NIGHT SCHOOL is the first book in C.J. Daugherty’s series of the same name. No publication date has been set for second and third books in the series, LEGACY and FRACTURE.

The first two books in the series were previously released in paperback format by Atom Books and the third book is slated for release this year.

Line_001

I haven’t heard much about NIGHT SCHOOL, but between the cover and the description I was intrigued and decided to pre-order it. And I’m excited to finally be able to find out what it’s all about when it downloads on Monday Midnight.

There’s just something I love about stories set in boarding schools. Especially ones that are dark and full of secrets. So of course I can’t help but wonder just what secrets are being kept from Allie at Cimmeria Academy.

As I haven’t looked at the descriptions for the other books in the series and I haven’t listened to any of the buzz about this book I’m completely in the dark about it. Which is so much fun.

And while I may not be able to read NIGHT SCHOOL this week, I’m hoping to be able to add it to the pile next week so I can find out just what goes on at Cimmeria Academy.

Transparent

addtogoodreads

TRANSPARENT by Natalie Whipple will be released in the U.S. on May 21, 2013 in paperback, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in paperback and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 368 pages.

Line_001

I really need to check my book towers more often. I cannot believe that Jaime of Two Chicks on Books had sent me a copy of TRANSPARENT and I could have read it  ages ago. Long before its release.

Well, with release date almost here, I suppose I can wait to read it on my Kindle. And I probably should wait… especially since there are a couple other books I should be reading this week. But I am so very tempted to check it out now.

Because I can’t wait to meet Fiona and see what life is like for someone who can make themselves invisible. And I can’t wait to find out how she manages to keep from doing her father’s “dirty work.”

TRANSPARENT was the book I spotlighted in my book watch post and I am super excited for its release. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to sneak it on the pile when it releases this week. That is, if I don’t end up sneaking a peek at it before then.

div1

Praefatio

addtogoodreads

PRAEFATIO by Georgia McBride will be released in the U.S. on May 21, 2013 in eBook format only. The print edition will be available on June 18, 3013. It is currently available to pre-order in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Month9Books, the print edition is 342 pages.

PRAEFATIO is the first book in author Georgia McBride’s series of the same name. No information is yet available about the sequel.

Line_001

I’d seen PRAEFATIO on one of the blogs I visit a few weeks back and decided to pre-order it for my Kindle as it looked really interesting. And when I actually got the chance to read the description I was glad I did, because it sounds awesome. And not because of the author blurb.

I love stories about prophecies and angel and demon mythology. I love stories that are dark. And I love, love, love stories that are battles between good and evil. And PRAEFATIO sounds like it has all of that and more.

The description mentions this book is an account of what happened to the main character, Grace. Which makes me curious about how the author handles the narrative.

As the eBook is releasing this week, I hope to get a peek so that I can find out just how. And I hope to be able to add it to the pile before its release in paperback in June.

I am so very glad that this week is a fairly quiet week for new releases. I have way too many books clamoring to be read that have released the past couple of weeks. And while I am likely going to buy a few of the contemporary books releasing this week, at least I won’t have a deluge of downloads on Monday Midnight as has been the case for the past few weeks.

Of course it’s very likely that I am missing an amazing YA book or two and will be surprised – happily, I think – if one should download that I haven’t listed here. But I suppose I won’t know until Tuesday if that is the case.

As the weeks of May 28th, June 4th and June 11th have a ton of new books I’m super excited for, it is a bit of a relief to be able to possibly get the chance to read one or two of the new releases when it releases versus having it sink further down into the pile because there are just too many titles to choose from.

Anyway….

Hopefully I didn’t miss out on an amazing book that should be added to my collection this week. But if I did, feel free to let me know of my epic fail in the comments. And if you are excited for any of the books releasing this week I’d love to hear which one you’re most excited about.

As ever, happy book buying and reading!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Tidal

addtogoodreads

WatchBOOK-2

TIDAL by Amanda Hocking will be released in the U.S. on June 4, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats.

It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the print edition is 352 pages.

TIDAL is the third book in author Amanda Hocking’s Watersong series. The fourth and final full-length book, ELEGY, is slated for release on August 6, 2013.

div1

There are so many super awesome books releasing the week of June 4th. Quite a few of them are ones I’ve been just dying to read for ages. Others are part of a series that I’m just desperate to start… or get caught up on. But when I saw that TIDAL by Amanda Hocking was releasing, there was no doubt in my mind which book I wanted to put in the spotlight this week.

I love the imaginative way Amanda Hocking tells a story. I love the way her series don’t tend to follow convention. And I love that she always manages to find a different way of approaching the paranormal elements in her stories, whether they’re about vampires, zombies, trolls or sirens.

While I have a bit of catching up to do in the Watersong series – I’ve only read the first book in the series – falling behind was very much intentional. I wanted to be able to continue the story and not have to wait for each subsequent book’s release.

But after having read the description for TIDAL – yes I caved – I don’t think I’ll be able to wait for ELEGY’s release in August before I dive in. I want to uncover Gemma’s enemies dark secrets. And I want to see whether she’ll be able to break the curse.

The description mentions that she’s in “grave danger,” which makes me very nervous. And the fact that this cover is much darker and edgier than the previous covers gives me every reason to believe this third book in the series will take a very dark turn.

So while I am excited for the release of each of the books I’ve listed below, there is no book I’m more anxious for the release of the week of June 4th than TIDAL, this third of four installments in the author’s Watersong series.

Book Watch: Releasing This Week #124

May 12

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of May 14th-May 20th that I have pre-ordered.

addtogoodreads

GOLDEN by Jessi Kirby will be released in the U.S. on May 14, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 288 pages.

Line_001

I am so excited that GOLDEN is releasing this week. I have been waiting forever for its release and I’m totally stoked that I only have to wait a couple more days before I can call this book mine.

When I first read the description ages ago, I just knew this story was one of those that would resonate with me. And I can’t wait to get the chance to follow along with Parker as she both tries to uncover the mystery behind what happened with Julianna and Shane and takes a step onto a new path for her life.

I love author Jessi Kirby’s writing and I am curious to see just how she develops this story. I have heard this book is amazing and I cannot wait to find out for myself just how awesome it is.

I love a mystery. I love a love story. And I especially love stories that are tragic. Hopefully I’ll get to add GOLDEN to my reading pile next week, but if not I will definitely be reading it over the long holiday weekend.

The Beautiful and the Cursed

addtogoodreads

THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSED by Page Morgan will be released in the U.S. on May 14, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Delacorte Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 352 pages.

THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSED is the first book in author Page Morgan’s The Dispossessed series. No information is yet available on the sequel.

Line_001

I am totally thrilled that THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE CURSED is releasing this week and that it will download to my Kindle on Monday Midnight. While I did get the chance to read it just a little bit early it’s one of those books that are a “must have” addition to my permanent collection.

And while I have lots and lots to say about this ahhh-mazing book, as I already talked about it in my Book Watch post a couple weeks back and I will be posting my review for it in a couple of days for the blog tour I’m on, I don’t want to say too much here.

But… yes there is always a but… I will just say that I loved getting transported into the world that the author created. I loved getting to meet Ingrid. And I loved getting to uncover all of this story’s fascinating secrets along with her.

Spirit and Dust

addtogoodreads

SPIRIT AND DUST by Rosemary Clement-Moore will be released in the U.S. on May 14, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Delacorte Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 400 pages.

SPIRIT AND DUST is the second book in Rosemary Clement-Moore’s Goodnight Family series.

Line_001

I had no clue that SPIRIT AND DUST was the sequel to author Rosemary Clement-Moore’s TEXAS GOTHIC when I pre-ordered it awhile back. While I hadn’t read that book by the author, I do own it, and I just had to add her latest title to my collection.

I read her book THE SPLENDOR FALLS ages ago and I thought the writing was absolutely beautiful, the world was crafted exquisitely and I enjoyed its leisurely pace. I was so totally spellbound by that book that I knew I had to buy anything and everything the author wrote.

And now that I know that her latest book is a part of a series, I definitely have to move TEXAS GOTHIC up on the pile so that I can read both of these books back to back. While I have yet to meet Amy I did read the description and I’m excited to meet Daisy.

Mystery and magic in stories always pique my interest. So I can’t wait to get the chance to see how they combine in SPIRIT AND DUST. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to read both books in this series early this summer.

School Spirits

addtogoodreads

SCHOOL SPIRITS by Rachel Hawkins will be released in the U.S. on May 14, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Disney-Hyperion, the print edition is 304 pages.

SCHOOL SPIRITS is the first book in a Hex Hall spinoff series by author Rachel Hawkins. No information is yet available on a sequel.

Line_001

I am super excited for the release of SCHOOL SPIRITS. When I first learned that there would be a spinoff to the author’s Hex Hall series I knew I had pre-order it once it became available.

The author created such a fun and utterly delightful series with Hex Hall and I can’t wait to meet her new characters in this new series. Izzy sounds like such an engaging character and I can’t wait to see how she manages to solve the mystery involving the hauntings in her new town.

While I won’t get the chance to read SCHOOL SPIRITS this week, I definitely plan on reading it next week.

I thought the number of books releasing last week was insane, but this week is so much worse… or better… depending upon how you look at it. While I don’t have as many books pre-ordered this week as I did last week I just know I will end up buying quite a few of the other books of note that I listed in this post.

THE SWEET DEAD LIFE, TRUTH OR DARE and THE RULES FOR DISAPPEARING are already on my list to check out further. And all of them are books I may not be able to wait for their release day before I end up clicking to buy.

I’m still trying to only purchase books I know I’ll be reading within a month or two, but so far that has not worked out. At all. Because I don’t want to end up forgetting about a particular “wish list” book. I’d rather own it and not read it immediately than save it for later and forget about it altogether.

I’m just relieved that I don’t have too many new titles being added to my collection and to my reading pile this week. Last week I had so many book purchases that it will take me weeks and weeks to read them all. At least. With only four new additions and only three TBR books being added to my collection this week, the possibility of actually reading them soon is really good. That is, if I don’t end up buying more of these new release titles.

Anyway….

With all the new books releasing this week I hope that you don’t bust your book budget. Or if you do it’s for books that you’ve been dying to read and own.

And I really hope I didn’t miss any new YA titles releasing this week. If I did, it means there are more than twenty-five new books coming out… and that would totally blow my mind. And my budget.

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

WatchBOOK-2

GODDESS by Josephine Angelini will be released in the U.S. on May 28, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 432 pages.

GODDESS is the third and final book in author Josephine Angelini’s Starcrossed Trilogy.

div1

It was not easy choosing a book to watch for the week of May 28th as there are a few books releasing that week that I’m anxiously desperately awaiting. But as I’ve loved Josephine Angelini’s series longer than any of the others, I just had to choose GODDESS as the book to spotlight this week.

I am so very excited to read this next book in the series. I loved both STARCROSSED and DREAMLESS and cannot wait to see how this series ends. I’ve been trying – and failing – to get this book onto my reading pile for the past few weeks. But I think because it is a series-ending book I may not be trying as hard as I could.

Because as much as I want to know what happens with Helen, want to know whether she chooses Lucas or Orion and want to know who wins the war, I don’t want to see this series end. I’m not ready. And I cannot imagine, even with over four hundred pages, that this series can be wrapped up in just this one book.

I love the way the author introduced the mythology in the first book in the series. I love the new landscape she created in the sequel. And I’m ever so curious as to just what picture she’s painted in this final installment.

The back cover copy mentions a tyrant, a lover and a war. Which makes this book sound so unbelievably epic. And with passages that start off like this one – “I can’t think of anyone in the world who deserves to be loved–loved more–more than you,” Helen said, her voice breaking… – I am even more excited to see how this beautiful, tragic and amazing love story ends.

Yes, I think this series is awesome. Yes, I love how angsty and suspenseful each of these stories are. And, yes, you better believe I love the star-crossed love story. So, as much as I think there are a few books releasing the week of May 28th that deserve the spotlight, there is no doubt in my mind that, for me, GODDESS is the book to watch this week.

About the Book

Goodreads description:

After accidentally unleashing the gods from their captivity on Olympus, Helen must find a way to re-imprison them without starting a devastating war. But the gods are angry, and their thirst for blood already has a body count.

To make matters worse, the Oracle reveals that a diabolical Tyrant is lurking among them, which drives a wedge between the once-solid group of friends. As the gods use the Scions against one another, Lucas’s life hangs in the balance. Still unsure whether she loves him or Orion, Helen is forced to make a terrifying decision, for war is coming to her shores.

In Josephine Angelini’s compelling conclusion to the masterfully woven Starcrossed trilogy, a goddess must rise above it all to change a destiny that’s been written in the stars. With worlds built just as fast as they crumble, love and war collide in an all-out battle that will leave no question unanswered and no heart untouched.
