2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge – It’s a Wrap + Giveaways

2013readingchallenge465

The 2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge is coming to a close, as is 2013. And I hope that you were able to meet your challenge goals for the year. I was only semi-successful with mine.

While I read the 21-30 books on my TBR Pile I’d set out to read, I didn’t quite get the chance to review all 25 of those books. I was only able to review 13 of them. And for that I am more than a little bit ashamed.

If you’d like to see what books I cleared from my TBR Pile in 2013, my list is HERE.

And while I won’t be co-hosting the 2014 TBR Pile Reading Challenge – Bookish will be hosting the entire event next year – I am thinking of joining up. But as I have a challenge of my own to tackle, I haven’t quite decided on that yet.

Even though this year’s event is coming to a close, there is still time to link up your reviews. Also, Evie at Bookish is hosting an AWESOME giveaway, which you can enter in the Rafflecopter below.

But if you’d prefer to enter at Bookish, you can do so by…

The Linky List is open until January 20th, so there’s plenty of time to get those final 2013 books read and reviewed and linked up.

I hope you had fun reading those long overdue books on your TBR pile and stopping by each host’s blog on the 20th of each month to share your review links and enter the giveaways.

And as a thank you for participating in the challenge, I’d also like to offer up a giveaway prize.

2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge – SEPTEMBER

Wow, it’s already September and there are just three months left for the 2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge. While I’m happy to say I’m on track with the number of books I read for this challenge, I am not at all pleased with the number of reviews I’ve written.

I signed up for “A Sweet Kiss” which means I need to read between 21-30 books for the challenge and I’ve read 19 books, but I’ve only reviewed 13 of them. Which means I still have eight books I need to review in order to meet the minimum. It’s potentially doable, though I’m not at all confident it will happen given the fact that I am in a bit of a reviewing slump.

But I’m sure you are doing way better than I am.

My Reads

I think only one of the books I read so far for the challenge was listed among the books I hoped to read at the beginning of this event. And as I really want to read Veronica Rossi’s series as well as a few other books not on that list, I’m doubtful I’ll complete that list by the end of the year.

But here’s what I’ve accomplished so far.

  1. ILLUMINATE by Aimee Agresti
  2. SILENCE by Becca Fitzpatrick
  3. FINALE by Becca Fitzpatrick
  4. CITY OF FALLEN ANGELS by Cassandra Clare – Read ONLY
  5. CITY OF LOST SOULS by Cassandra Clare – Read ONLY
  6. THE IMMORTAL RULES by Julie Kagawa
  7. THE GIRL IN THE CLOCKWORK COLLAR by Kady Cross
  8. EVE by Anna Carey
  9. ONCE by Anna Carey
  10. BLACK CITY by Elizabeth Richards
  11. UNTIL I DIE by Amy Plum
  12. BORN WICKED by Jessica Spotswood
  13. RADIANT by Cynthia Hand
  14. DESTROY ME by Tahereh Mafi
  15. PUSHING THE LIMITS by Katie McGarry
  16. DEFIANCE by C.J. Redwine
  17. ALICE IN ZOMBIELAND by Gena Showalter
  18. THE SELECTION by Kiera Cass
  19. EASY by Tammara Webber – Read ONLY

How have you been doing with your challenge goals?

The Mini-Challenge

Once again I find myself at a loss as to what the perfect Mini-Challenge would be. So I’m going to opt for something a little bit less than perfect but something I think could still be fun. And it is…

Create a character mini-bio.

For one of the books you read in September, create a short bio for one of its characters. You can be as elaborate as you’d like or you can keep it brief and list only the items I’ve included in the example below.

You can post the mini-bio in the comments or create a post on your blog that you leave a link to . The choice is yours!

But if you do the Mini-Challenge this month you will earn FIVE extra entries into this month’s giveaway.

2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge Wrap-up + Giveaway

2013readingchallenge465
I cannot believe it’s already a month-and-a-half into the 2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge. And I also cannot believe that my stack of books still TBR is huge. I actually think it’s growing.

I’m just so glad I only signed up at the “A Sweet Kiss” level of 21-30 books or I would have had to scream FAIL already. But since my participation level requires just under two books per month, I am well ahead of my challenge minimum.

Which is such a surprise. Because at the beginning of February I’d only read just the one book. And now I’ve read FIVE!

Texture_001

It’s a Wrap

Yep. I’ve read FIVE books so far for the challenge. Two of which were on my original list. And they are…

ILLUMINATE by Aimee Agresti (reviewed)

SILENCE by Becca Fitzpatrick (reviewed)

FINALE by Becca Fitzpatrick (reviewed)

CITY OF FALLEN ANGELS by Cassandra Clare

CITY OF LOST SOULS by Cassandra Clare

This means that to make my challenge goal of reading at least 21 books, I only need to read 16 more between now and the end of December. And as I have set my sites on a few other books on my 2012 or earlier TBR pile, I don’t think it will be too hard to hit that magic number by year’s end.

The Mini-Challenge

I am clearly not as clever at thinking up Mini-Challenges as Evie is, so my Mini-Challenge for the month is something I do on occasion here on the blog.

And that is to create a button with a favorite quote from one of the books you’ve read for the TBR Pile Reading Challenge.

Silence-Quote

Pop it in your sidebar, add it to an online photo album, upload it to Facebook, add it to your Twitter Pics, and leave a link in the comments to where I can check it out.

Doing the Mini-Challenge this month will earn you FIVE extra entries into this month’s giveaway.

I am SO EXCITED to be participating in this year-long reading challenge. I have so many books from 2012 and earlier that are just begging to be read. And I can’t WAIT to get started. This challenge was the perfect excuse for me to do so!

Though I am going to try and be as realistic as possible and choose a “level” that won’t make me an instant failure. I’ve included the start of my list at the end of this post.

I HOPE you’ll decide to join in on the fun, because I’d love to see what books you’ve been dying to read but haven’t.

My 2013 TBR PILE…

I am going to be ambitious, but not too ambitious and choose to start off at the “A Sweet Kiss” level. That’s right, I’m going to add 21-30 books from 2012 or earlier to my TBR PILE for this challenge.

While I haven’t decided on all the books I’ll be reading, here are just a few, in no particular order.

HOURGLASS by Myra McEntire

TIMEPIECE by Myra McEntire

THE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYER by Michelle Hodkin

THE EVOLUTION OF MARA DYER by Michelle Hodkin

UNDER THE NEVER SKY by Veronica Rossi

AFTERLIFE by Claudia Gray

DARKEST MERCY by Melissa Marr

THE GOLDEN LILY by Richelle Mead

SILENCE by Becca Fitzpatrick

FINALE by Becca Fitzpatrick

THE SAVAGE GRACE by Bree Despain

ENDURE by Carrie Jones

PURE by Jennifer L. Armentrout

DEITY by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Anyway… I should stop right now before I end up going totally off challenge pile during the challenge to read other releases from 2012 and earlier.

So, all that’s left to do is…
