SSRC FAQ’s
I’ve had a few questions about the Soul Screamers Reading Challenge so I thought I’d create an FAQ page to help answer some of the questions. If you have any other questions, leave them in the comments, below.
Do I have to read and review each book in the series during the month scheduled?
NO. You can read any book in the series at any time during the challenge – from January 15 through June 14. You will get an EXTRA ENTRY into the pre-order giveaway at the end of the challenge if you read them in the month scheduled, but you can read the books whenever you want during the months of the challenge.
Do I have to read ALL the books in the series?
NO. If you’ve already read one – or more – of the books in the series and aren’t ready for a re-read, you can start with ANY book in the series. You can start the challenge in January along with everyone else or you can wait until the month the book is scheduled for.
BUT, you are only eligible for the monthly giveaways if you post your review during the month of those giveaways.
AND, if you post your review for a book that is not scheduled for that month, you won’t get the EXTRA ENTRY into the pre-order giveaway at the end of the challenge.
What if I only read one book in the series?
Then you will get one entry into the pre-order giveaway as long as you post a review during the challenge and leave the link in one of the month’s linky’s. AND during the month that you do link your review, you will have an entry into that month’s giveaway.
What if I don’t have a blog?
You can post your review on Facebook, on Goodreads on Tumblr OR you if your review is positive, I will post it on my blog, Soul Screamers Reading Challenge for you as a GUEST POST.
How else can I get extra entries into the Before I Wake pre-order giveaway?
If you create a participation post on your blog, you’ll get an extra entry.
If you read any of the “extra credit” novella reads and post a review at any time during the challenge, you will get an extra entry.
You can post your reviews for each book in the corresponding month of the challenge.
Why do I need to sign up?
Signing up will give you one entry into the Before I Wake giveaway at the end of the challenge, but ONLY if you also post at least one review during the rest of the challenge. So that will mean two entries.
You will only be eligible for the monthly giveaways during the challenge if you are already signed up AND you post one review.
When should I sign up?
You can sign up AT ANY TIME during the challenge.
Will the extra credit reads give me an entry into the monthly giveaway if I haven’t read one of the full-length books?
YES. As long as a review (or discussion post) is posted (and linked) during that month, an extra credit read will give you eligibility into that month’s giveaway.
SO, if there is a specific book you want to try to have an extra chance to win, hold off on posting your review for the extra credit read until the month for that particular book’s giveaway.
Can I start reading the books before the event?
Ideally NO. You’ll start reading with everyone else. BUT, no one is policing you.
HOWEVER, if you post your review prior to the link post on January 15th, that read and review will NOT count.
If you have any other questions, ask them in the comments on this page and I will either answer them in the comments or add them to the FAQ’s.

I signed up for the contest – just need a bit of help …
May sound silly, but when I blog my reviews on my blog site how do I link them to your so that you know about them for the contest?
On the 15th of each month (at 12:01 a.m. Pacific) I will have a post where you can link any reviews you post during that month. So, my first post goes live on Sunday, and any reviews you create from January 15 through February 14 on your blog you can leave as a link in that linky under that post.
Then on February 15 I will have a new post for that month’s reads, and so on. I will have all links to those posts in my sidebar under the All Things SSRC AND linked on the SoulScreamersReadingChallenge blog.
I hope this helps!
How do I sign up? do i sign up through a blog? if not can you give me the link to the sign in page? Thanks!
Hi Enna, the sign up post is here on my blog. It is linked in the sidebar, but here is the post link:
http://www.fiktshun.com/fiktshun/2012/01/06/soul-screamers-reading-challenge/
On Sunday the first post will go live for the month so you can post reviews.
Is it this link?
http://www.linkytools.com/basic_link_entry_form.aspx?id=123898#
the linky tool thing? Because I want to sign up with my goodreads account, if that’s ok.
If it’s the linky from under the sign up post I linked above, then yes. You would just leave a link to your goodreads profile page. If you create a shelf for the challenge it will be easier to view. But Goodreads is absolutely fine!
What’s a participation post??
If you are a blogger you would create a post announcing that you are participating in the challenge using one of the badges I have included on the SSRC page.
If you are not a blogger but a Facebook you would “post” a link to the signup post with some kind of a message announcing that you are participating in the challenge and then just leave a link to your Facebook page.
If you have neither and want a post created so that you can have an extra entry, I’ll be happy to Guest Post it on the blog SoulScreamersReadingChallenge.blogspot.com – you would just email me what you wanted to say about you, why you’re participating and anything else. I’ll post it on that blog and you could use the link from that post as the link for the participation post to get entry for the gift card or books at the end of the challenge.
My email is fiktshun[at]gmail[dot]com.
Hi!
I just stumbled upon this challange and even though I’ve read the books I’d love to re-read some of them them as part of such a fun event–and we awesome prizes. Are the giveaway’s going to be open international?
Hi Raquel, yes, all giveaways are international, unless the Kindle eBook gifts are not able to be accepted in your country. (Apparently Never to Sleep can’t yet be accepted as a gift in the UK because If I Die has not yet released.)
But otherwise, all giveaways are international. If books can’t be ordered from the Book Depository then I will purchase and send. And all signed books or T-shirts from the author, I will send out via US mail to any country.
I’m so excited that you are joining in the challenge. You can re-read as many or as few as you’d like!
Wonderful! I really love the series–I think I’ve re-read If I Die 5 times anyway, lol…might as well be doing it for something, ha!
Thanks for putting together such a fun event.
I’m gonna go sign up
