2014 Don’t Let It End Reading Challenge – Month Four

Welcome to month four…

I didn’t do a much better job this month. Though I suppose I did slightly better than last month. I only finished ONE book this month, though I’m still not entirely sure it’s a series-ender. And I did start to read two.

This month I read…

BREAKABLE (Contours of the Heart #2) by Tammara Webber. And while I haven’t posted my review yet, it will be up next week.

And I started reading both THE WARRIOR and THE ONE and realized there was no way I was ready to say goodbye just yet. But I am confident I’ll be able to say goodbye to at least one of them during this fourth month of the challenge. I just wish I was as confident I’ll be ready to say goodbye to this month’s choices – of which there are only two.

If you haven’t yet signed up, check out the SIGN-UP POST for details. While there are only two months left, it’s still not too late to join in and say goodbye to at least one of your favorite series.

But if you have, then I wish you the very best of luck this fourth month of the challenge.

My Month Four Hopefuls

CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE (The Mortal Instruments #6) by Cassandra Clare – releases May 27th

DREAMS OF GODS & MONSTERS (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3) by Laini Taylor – released April 8th

Month Four

Leave your links to your thoughts posts on your blogs, Goodreads, Facebook or Booklikes. They should ONLY be links to reviews written and posted between May 14 and June 13, 2014.

And they should ONLY be reviews for books that are the final book in the series.

If you forget to leave a link and this Linky List has closed, you may leave it in next month’s Linky List. But you can ONLY link up a review once.

At the end of the month I will throw the Linky List numbers into Random and select ONE WINNER for a series-ending book of their choice not to exceed $25 USD.

Month Three Giveaway Winner

Congratulations to…

Haraiah @ Random Things in Action

Please drop me an email at fiktshun[at]gmail[dot]com with your address details and your book of choice and I’ll order your series-ending book!

Good Luck!

Seriously, I can’t thank you enough for being a part of this challenge. I think you are all so very brave. And yes, you do give me the courage to at least try saying goodbye to some of my most favorite series. Stopping when panic sets in mid-read can’t be helped. It can’t… really.

As always, I hope that you’re doing a heck of a lot better on your challenge goals than I am. While I was so certain I was ready to tackle the challenge last year, I’ve clearly fallen short this year with both my certainty and my ability.

But I know the same cannot be said of you. Or there would be zero links left in the Linky List at the bottom of each month’s post. And that has not happened.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of us, and that if you’ve added CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE to your DLIE Reading Challenge pile it won’t be the book that breaks your success streak.

Happy reading and may your goodbyes be filled with tears of joy, not tears of sadness.

  1. Hey, Rachel, I can totally understand your reluctance. Even though I’ve read 9 series-enders books so far, I still haven’t said goodbye to those I’ve wanted to read the most, I just can’t, so I actually feel like I’m failing. And after the last one, I decided to take a break from this challenge this month, it’s definitely too hard, especially when the finale isn’t all you wanted it to be.

It might be weird, but for me, a final book can make or break a series for me. I love it when it will make me love the series even more (even when I think it’s not possible to love it more), so I will be reading it again & again, or it can pretty much destroy it for me a.k.a it won’t be on my list of favs anymore & that sucks 🙁 But, maybe that’s just me. I hope that doesn’t happen to everyone.

Also, it’s really hard to say goodbye to those fav characters & worlds, like for me: Night Huntress, Benny Imura, Aftertime, Monstrumologist, etc, so I understand you. And don’t get me started on all of those that are ending later this year, like the White Rabbit Chronicles, the Heir Chronicles, Unwind, etc, I’m dying to read them, yet already fearing their ending.

So for now, happy reading to the braver ones, and I’ll try to pile up on my courage & read some more final books in the last month 🙂

Thanks again for hosting this challenge, Rachel, without it, I probably would’ve read only a few series-ending books instead of 9, so thanks a lot!!!

So far this year I’ve said my goodbyes to 5 series but I still can’t bring myself to pick up Allegiant and The Bitter Kingdom. Hopefully I will be able to find the courage to read it this month along with Rebel and Dreams of Gods and Monsters. Good luck to you as well, Rachel! And thank you for the giveaway 😉
