Top 10 of 2013 Banner

Today is the final day of Top 10 of 2013.

A week of Looking Back…

…and Looking Forward.

And I am thrilled to be able to co-host this event for the third year in a row with Jaime from Two Chicks on Books and for a second year with Mindy from Magical Urban Fantasy Reads.

If you haven’t yet heard of this week-long event, it’s where we’ve been sharing our favorite bookish lists and inviting you to share yours each day for the past five days by leaving your post links in the daily Linky Lists.

This year’s event giveaway is shared via a common Rafflecopter on all three of our blogs. Leaving a comment each day on each host’s blog will give you extra entries, so be sure to check out each of our Top 10 lists for more chances to win.

It’s not too late to sign up for this event – though today is the last day. Just check out the Sign-up Post for all the details – HERE.

Today’s topic is…

Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2014

Last year, it seems, I cheated a little and I changed the post to top ten books in a series I’m dying to continue reading. This year I’m going to do the same.

Because there are already at least 80 books I’m pining for that will be releasing next year and there’s no way I can narrow that list down to ten. So this tens list is in NO way complete. Not by far.

Of course I just had to do an “honorable mentions” section listing a few other books I’m dying to read. And I will be posting a list of Top 10 Debut Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2014 on The Annex to fill some of those gaps I’m leaving.

But, to make things easier on myself, I decided to leave off the books in 2014 that I am looking forward to but have already read or am reading. Books such as UNHINGED by A.G. Howard, INDEPENDENT STUDY by Joelle Charbonneau, EVERTRUE by Brodi Ashton, PANIC by Lauren Oliver, and A LITTLE TOO HOT by Lisa Desrochers.

While this is the hardest list I’ve had to create yet, I think I’m happy with my choices. I just wish some of those “must read” 2014 books had covers… or titles.

  1. Brea says:

The Forever Song and Panic are some of my most anticipated books, too! But Jackal, swoon worthy? Eh, I’ve always imagined him with gross yellow pointy teeth and hairy.
Maybe he is cute, but I just can’t imagine it. :P

  2. Wow, now that’s a list of awesome new releases!

I can’t wait for The Queen of Zombie Hearts, Up From the Grave, Cress, Fragile Spirits, The Beautiful Ashes, and I can go on & on :)

Thank you so much for hosting this event! Once again it was lots of fun :D

  3. Ashfa Anwer says:

Great list!! I’ve yet to start on most series mentioned but really looking forward to Ignite Me.

    • Fiktshun009 says:

Oh me too. I’m terrified but really excited to find out how this series ends. It’s been amazing so far. I’d love to see this on the big screen. I hope they make it into a film.

  4. bhwrn1 says:

Ignite Me is my #1. I forgot about the final Blood of Eden! Can’t wait to read that one! And I definitely can’t wait for the next Pushing the Limits! Great list!

  5. Jenelle Riane says:

Ooh, I can’t wait for Burned! And Sisters Fate. And Sweet Reckoning. And almost everything on your list. And wow, after going through this, my TBR pile got a WHOLE lot bigger!

  6. I also cheated a bit on my entry and made two lists, one for books in a current series, and another for debuts and first in series, all with covers, plus a few honorary mentions without cover and/or official title! STILL I missed Sister’s Fate and City of Heavenly Fire! And I am dying to read those two!!

  7. Nice list. Some of these I’m waiting anxiously too. The Forever song is going to be awesome. I am also doing an ARC tour of the Lovely and The Lost and still have room, so if you are interested, you can still sign up.

    Grace

  8. Jennifer K says:

Ha, so I am not the only one who was upset that some of my choices had no covers. I actually changed some of my choices around because I wanted the covers.

Since I don’t have a blog I didn’t have anywhere to write my honorable mentions. So here they are:
    Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater
Independent Study and Graduation Day by Joelle Charbonneau
    Flame by Amy Kathleen Ryan
    Night Broken by Patricia Briggs
    Ignite Me by Tahareh Mafi
Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi
    Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
    Burning Kingdoms by Lauren DeStefao

    • Fiktshun009 says:

I think I did that last year. Especially for the ones without titles. But my most anticipated reads are untitled and uncovered books. I wish books were like films and the most anticipated ones are released early just so they have covers and blurbs and titles so they can get added to the awards lists at year end.

I don’t think I heard about Maggie Stiefvater’s title before. I definitely have to check that out. I love your honorable mentions! (And you could always have created an honorable mentions shelf but I love that you posted them here!)

  9. There are so many books to look forward to next year! Cress, Strange and Ever After, The One, Dorothy Must Die, Empower – ugh, I could just go on and on. Need more hours in the day or I need to start cutting out some TV shows. That seems more doable.

  10. City of Heavenly Fire and Ignite Me are on my list too! I so cannot wait to see how those series end! Take Me On is a good one to mention. I didn’t love West in the last book so I’m waiting for Katie McGarry to make me fall in love with him too. :)

  11. erinf1 says:

I’m looking forward to Night Broken by Patricia Briggs :) Thanks for the fun list!

  12. Fallon Vaughn says:

    Talon – Julie Kagawa
    Ignite Me – Tahereh Mafi
    Of Neptune – Anna Banks
    Infinite Sea – Rick Yancey
    Cress – Marissa Meyer
    The One – Kiera Cass
Into The Still Blue – Veronica Rossi
    Graduation Day – Joelle Charbonneau
    Unhinged – A.G. Howard

  13. tiffnanny says:

Thanks for all the great titles to look into. I only have a couple of them already on my list and TBR :)

  19. Kelsey Ketch says:

So many great sounding books! Looks like you have a busy year ahead in 2014. :)

  20. Carmen Brack says:

I also picked the Forever Song and Ignite Me :) But somehow I forgot about City of Heavenly Fire o_O I definitely want that one, too! And Burned, though I haven’t read Iced yet. And I agree with everything you said about Cat & Bones. Still one of my favorite PNR series ever :) They’re such a fantastic couple!

  26. This list was so hard! There are just too many amazing-sounding books to ever make a complete list. I’m also dying dying dying for Ignite Me, Sisters’ Fate, and The One! :)

  27. Lynn K. says:

  30. You have an absolutely amazing list filled with many books I’m unfamiliar with – but must get to know. I am looking forward to the next book in The Others.

  31. Jayne says:

The Lovely and the Lost is AMAZINGGGG. And I need The One like I need to breathe air. I really wish Hyperion would give ARCs of that!
