Published by Dial, the print edition is 400 pages.
CONTROL is the first book in author Lydia Kang’s series of the same name. The second book in the series, CATALYST, is slated for release in 2014.
Although the week of December 24th is a very quiet week for releases, there are two books releasing that week that I can’t wait for. But the book I am most intrigued by, the one whose world I am so curious about, is CONTROL by Lydia Kang.
The description promises intensity and romance, but it’s the futuristic setting that I’m fascinated by and the “outcasts” that can be made into heroes. I am excited about getting the chance to meet Zel and Dyl and the others with “peculiar” gifts. I am curious to see just how similar in feel it might be to Uglies.
And I am super interested in finding out whether Dyl’s kidnappers were right about the secret that might be hidden in her DNA.
I only recently discovered this book by Author Lydia Kang, but as soon as I read its description I pre-ordered a copy so it would be available to read on its release date. I have a feeling it’s going to be one of those books that will be so easy to devour. And I plan on doing just that on the 26th.
Of course I am also interested in finding out more about the romance. I love, love, love a love story. The description doesn’t reveal a thing about it, which is such a total tease.
But as CONTROL‘s release date is only a few weeks away, I won’t have to wait that long to find out more about the love story. And I won’t have to wait to find out just how Zel plans on freeing her sister.
As this is the first book in a series – and no I haven’t taken a peek at book two’s description – I imagine that not all of my questions will be answered. But I’m super interested in finding out just which ones will be. And I’m dying to know if I’ll be left on the side of a cliff at the story’s end.
So, while I am excited about reading ROOMIES, I am desperately and anxiously awaiting CONTROL. And although it hasn’t been on my radar for that long, it is a book that deserves to be in the spotlight and is most definitely my choice to be the book to watch this week.

An un-putdownable thriller for fans of Uglies
When a crash kills their father and leaves them orphaned, Zel knows she needs to protect her sister, Dyl. But before Zel has a plan, Dyl is taken by strangers using bizarre sensory weapons, and Zel finds herself in a safe house for teens who aren’t like any she’s ever seen before—teens who shouldn’t even exist. Using broken-down technology, her new friends’ peculiar gifts, and her own grit, Zel must find a way to get her sister back from the kidnappers who think a powerful secret is encoded in Dyl’s DNA.
A spiraling, intense, romantic story set in 2150—in a world of automatic cars, nightclubs with auditory ecstasy drugs, and guys with four arms—this is about the human genetic “mistakes” that society wants to forget, and the way that outcasts can turn out to be heroes.
Here is another awesome book releasing the week of December 24th:
