Top 10 of 2013

Top 10 of 2013 Banner

I am still wondering what happened to 2013. It’s almost over and I only just remember it beginning. I do sort of remember that it’s been a crazy year and that there were a ton of books I fell in love with, a ton of books I wanted to read but didn’t get the chance to, and a ton of series that came to an end.

Which means that this year’s Top 10 of 2013 is going to be awesome… and challenging. At least I have just over a month to figure out which books I’ll include on my lists before this year’s event begins.

In just a few short weeks we’ll be spending a week looking back at some of the best of all things books from 2013 and taking a peek at some of those we’re looking forward to in 2014. Co-hosting the event last year with some of my favorite fellow bloggers – Lisa from A Life Bound By Books, Jessica from Confessions of a Bookaholic, Jaime from Two Chicks on Books and Mindy from Magical Urban Fantasy Reads – was awesome! This year, unfortunately, Lisa and Jessica will not be hosting the event with us due to their busy schedules, but they both hope to be back in 2014 for this event that they created.

The Deets

The event runs for five consecutive days, the last full week of the year – Monday, December 23rd to Friday, December 27th. Five days in which we share of some of our favorite lists and we invite ALL of YOU to join in on the fun and share your lists with everyone too!

Each day of the event just visit one of the hosting blogs and share your list in the Linky below each day’s post. Just make sure to match up the correct post and Linky list to get credit.

Monday, December 23rd – Best Books I’ve Read in 2013 (Doesn’t have to be released in 2013, just a book you’ve read in 2013)

Tuesday, December 24
th – Best Book Covers of 2013 (MUST be a book released in 2013. Would be best if it’s a book you’ve READ in 2013, but it’s not required)

Wednesday, December 25
th – Best ________ of 2013 (Reader’s/Blogger’s choice. Please fill in the blank with ONE of these topics – Villains, Contemporaries, Dual POVs, Novellas, Adult titles, New Adult titles, Love Triangles, Couples, Bad Boys or Debuts. REMEMBER: this list MUST be from books you’ve READ in 2013)

Thursday, December 26
th – Best Book Boyfriends of 2013 (MUST be from a book released in 2013 and from a book you’ve READ in 2013)

Friday, December 27
th – Top 10 Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2014 (This list should be comprised ONLY of books released in 2014)

How you do these posts/lists is totally up to you. What books, covers and characters you pick are all your own.

The only rule to follow is posting the topics on the dates we’ve provided.

I know what you’re thinking – believe me I know – that it will be impossible to keep each list to just 10. So there’s always the option of breaking the lists up, such as creating a list for your Top 10 YA favorites and a list for your Top 10 NA favorites and a list for your Top 10 Adult favorites. This is absolutely fine. You can even feel free to add in a few honorable mentions if you’re having a tough time sticking to just 10. BUT… yes there’s always a but isn’t there… please try to keep it to a minimum. It totally defeats the purpose if you have 10 favorites and then 150 honorable mentions.

The goal of this event is for YOU to join in and share your lists with us and for everyone to visit as many of the other participating blogs to check out THEIR lists. Oh, and it’s also to have fun!

The event is simple. Make note of the dates and tens list topics as provided and fill out the Linky below. This will give us an idea who will be joining us for the Top 10 week. THEN, be sure to come back to one of our blogs on each of the five days and link up your post for that specific day!

Just remember, each day will have a Linky for that Top 10 topic.

You don’t want to miss a day during the event. There will be a few giveaways, and joining in the event, keeping up with our and everyone’s lists just might help win you a bookish prize! Giveaway details TK, so be sure to check back to find out what we’re giving away and when!

Feel free to grab our event button – THE GRAB CODE IS BELOW THE BUTTON IN THE SIDEBAR – and help spread the word for the event. We’d love to have anyone and everyone join us this year. The more the merrier!

I was wondering is there anyway to join if I don’t have a blog? It sounds like fun.

  5. And of course I’m in, the last 2 years was so much fun, and I know it will be tough again to narrow down my choices, but lots of fun 🙂

  6. What’s so funny about the dates is that I have so many things going on that week including my Bday 🙂 December 28th (turning of age 23) and my great great great grandma will be 96 on the 29th! I’ll be a busy cat for sure!

  7. Julie S. says:

  8. This will be my third year and I look forward to this every December!!! Thank you sooooooo much for organizing this! My year is NOT complete without you girls doing this 😀

  9. Awesome – I’m signed up! I love that the lists are for books READ in 2013, not just books read and PUBLISHED in 2013 – I’ve read a lot of books this year that were published before 2013 that I feel should be spotlighted, so thank you for allowing me to include them all in this event!
