It was nearly impossible to choose a book to watch this week as there are so many titles I’m eagerly awaiting that are releasing the week of September 10th. Some I hadn’t even realized were releasing that week until I checked out book release dates for this post.
In the end, I decided to choose the book I’ve been waiting on just a bit longer than the other books I’m just as excited for, and that book is ANTIGODDESS by Kendare Blake. Ever since I first stumbled upon this book’s cover on Goodreads I couldn’t wait to see what the story was about. And after reading the description I was even more excited for its release. It sounds just so totally epic.
I love mythology. I love that this series is about a war that is brewing. I love that these immortals are fighting for their immortality and that their deaths are anything but peaceful.
I have not yet read the author’s other series, but I have heard that she’s an incredible writer. So I cannot wait to discover her writing in this series and genre when I get my hands on a copy of ANTIGODDESS.
I can’t wait to see which gods become anti-gods. I can’t wait to find out just what happens to Athena and Hermes. And I am super excited to find out if Cassandra is in fact the key in this war.
These corrupted gods sound a little bit terrifying and I’m just so curious to meet them all. I just hope the next two and change weeks pass quickly as I’m dying to read this book right now.
So even though I’m just as excited for the releases of RELATIVITY, BRIAR ROSE, THE WAKING DARK and THORNHILL, I have been waiting a little bit longer for ANTIGODDESS‘ release. And I’m so glad the wait is almost over.

The Goddess War begins in Antigoddess, the first installment of the new series by acclaimed author of Anna Dressed in Blood, Kendare Blake.
Old Gods never die…
Or so Athena thought. But then the feathers started sprouting beneath her skin, invading her lungs like a strange cancer, and Hermes showed up with a fever eating away his flesh. So much for living a quiet eternity in perpetual health.
Desperately seeking the cause of their slow, miserable deaths, Athena and Hermes travel the world, gathering allies and discovering enemies both new and old. Their search leads them to Cassandra—an ordinary girl who was once an extraordinary prophetess, protected and loved by a god.
These days, Cassandra doesn’t involve herself in the business of gods—in fact, she doesn’t even know they exist. But she could be the key in a war that is only just beginning.
Because Hera, the queen of the gods, has aligned herself with other of the ancient Olympians, who are killing off rivals in an attempt to prolong their own lives. But these anti-gods have become corrupted in their desperation to survive, horrific caricatures of their former glory. Athena will need every advantage she can get, because immortals don’t just flicker out.
Every one of them dies in their own way. Some choke on feathers. Others become monsters. All of them rage against their last breath.
The Goddess War is about to begin.
