Book Watch: Releasing This Week #130

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of June 25th-July 1st that I have pre-ordered.

I am so unbelievably excited that IN THE AFTER is releasing this week. This book sounds soooo good. Chilling. Totally chilling. I’ve been dying to read it forever. And I just discovered that I have the printed ARC which Jaime of Two Chicks on Books had given to me.

So maybe I don’t have to wait until my pre-order downloads on Monday Midnight to start reading this book. Because I am so curious about “Them” – who and what they are and why they are. I want to know why, after arriving in New Hope, things are still not ideal for Amy and Baby.

And I really, really want to know what exactly happened before. Because life in the after does not sound at all good for those who live in it.

The description calls IN THE AFTER “thrilling” and “pulse-pounding” and I cannot wait to be thrilled, to have my pulse race and to find out just what happens in this book whose release I’ve been waiting forever for.

The Lost Sun

addtogoodreads

THE LOST SUN by Tessa Gratton will be released in the U.S. on June 25, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Random House Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 368 pages.

THE LOST SUN is the first book in the author’s The United States of Asgard series. No information is yet available about other books in the series.

I absolutely adore Tessa Gratton’s writing. I think she is an amazing writer and I cannot wait for this fascinating new series to begin. As soon as I heard about THE LOST SUN I instantly pre-ordered it for my Kindle.

While I knew that this was a new series and I had read the first line of the description, I didn’t actually take a closer look at it until now. I didn’t need to because the author’s books are ones I will automatically add to my collection. But now that I have….

I cannot wait to meet Soren Bearskin. I love that this world has Norse mythology at its base. I love that the story involves warriors, battles and berserking. And I love, love, love that the setting includes both an Academy and a road trip.

I really, really hope to be able to sneak this on the pile next week, as I cannot wait to get lost in this story of a missing god and embark upon a new series by this wonderfully imaginative author.

Weather Witch

addtogoodreads

WEATHER WITCH by Shannon Delany will be released in the U.S. on June 25, 2013 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by St. Martin’s Griffin, the print edition is 336 pages.

WEATHER WITCH is the first book in a new series of the same name by author Shannon Delany. The second book in the series, STORMBRINGER, is slated for release on January 14, 2014.

Line_001

I cannot believe that WEATHER WITCH is releasing this week. I’ve been dying to get my early eARC on the pile so that I could read it before its release and before my pre-ordered copy downloads. Something I still hope to do this afternoon.

I love that this is set in the 1800s and that it mixes together affluent society and witchcraft. I am so curious about what exactly a weather witch does – aside from what I imagine is to influence or control the weather – and just why harboring one is “the greatest of social sins.” And I can’t wait to start this new series by this author.

The description is a bit vague about just where the story is headed, but its setting, at such an interesting time period in a country at the brink of war is incredibly enticing. I love that the setting is dark, I love that the description sounds more than a little bit ominous.

And I can’t wait to get this on the pile either this afternoon or in the next couple of week so that I can get answers to my questions and meet Jordan, Rowen and Catrina.

After Daybreak

addtogoodreads

AFTER DAYBREAK by J.A. London will be released in the U.S. on June 25, 2013 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 336 pages.

AFTER DAYBREAK is the third and final book in the Darkness Before Dawn Trilogy by the authors.

Line_001

I have fallen just a little bit behind on this series, but now that AFTER DAYBREAK, the final book in the trilogy, is releasing, I am excited to get caught up. I really enjoyed the setting and its characters in the first book in the series and getting the chance to continue the story to its end is incredibly appealing.

I did end up taking a peek at the description for this third book – I know, I know, I really shouldn’t have – but I’m so glad I did, because it makes me want to read this series to its conclusion even more. Especially since it mentions nothing about it being the final book or how things might end.

So I’m wildly curious. And I’m even more curious about what happened to Dawn in L.A.

As I own book two and this book is downloading this week, I hope to be able to read both books back-to-back in July. Because I want to know whether Dawn and Victor will be able to defeat Sin and stop the spread of the Thirst.

Ashes on the Waves

addtogoodreads

ASHES ON THE WAVES by Mary Lindsey will be released in the U.S. on June 27, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Philomel, the print edition is 384 pages.

Line_001

I am so excited that ASHES ON THE WAVES is releasing later this week and that everyone will get the chance to meet Liam and Annabel in this dark and gorgeous book. And I can’t wait for my print copy to arrive… which I’m hoping will be earlier than Thursday.

As I just rambled about this book in my post yesterday and have already spotlighted it for my Book Watch post earlier this month, I am not going to say much more except that I am so thrilled for the author that her beautiful book will be on shelves this week and that everyone can fall in love as I have.

I have been excited for this story ever since I got a very early sneak peek back in September 2011. I fell in love with its premise and its main character instantly. And when I got the chance to read it early nearly one year later, back in September 2012, I was over the moon. It was every bit as captivating, beautiful, dark as I imagined it would be.

And I’m totally stoked that this story will finally be available in its finished form for me to add to my collection in both print and electronic formats on Thursday.

When creating this post on Saturday I discovered that I did not have PARADOX by A.J. Paquette or HIDDEN by Marianne Curley pre-ordered. Which was a surprise. So, of course, today, I just had to order them.

But as I’m so late in posting this due to a late night/almost-all-night read of PUSHING THE LIMITS by Katie McGarry and some things I had to do for work today, I decided if I was ever going to get this posted I should probably not to rework my post to include them with my pre-orders above.

Besides, although they’re technically still pre-orders, it’s cutting it close. And there is also a distinct possibility, like every week, that there will be a couple other “of note” books I end up purchasing for my Kindle before they actually release on Tuesday and beyond. Books like THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET and INK.

Anyway…

There are a few more titles available this week than last. And while I have seven books that will be added to my collection this week, at least I’ve read one of them… although I am re-reading it this week. So, technically it’s still on the TBR pile…. *Sigh*

But I’m so excited for each of the books releasing this week that I have on order. And I hope to be able to read all of them in the upcoming weeks. And while hopes don’t always turn into realities, this week I really, really hope they do.

Happy reading!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
