Novella Reading Week Sign-ups

There are just so many amazing novellas that have been released that never seem to make it onto the reading pile. With review books or highly anticipated full-length novels, those super quick but awesome short stories get put on the back burner.

Without making a commitment to read them, stories like DESTROY ME by Tahereh Mafi, DIE FOR HER by Amy Plum, RADIANT by Cynthia Hand, A DANCE WITH DARKNESS by Courtney Allison Moulton or GLITTER & DOOM by Bethany Griffin don’t stand a chance when up against their full-length counterparts.

So that’s what Mindy of Magical Urban Fantasy Reads and I decided to do. Commit to reading as many novellas as we can for one week, setting aside our review books and finally diving into those short stories we’ve been dying to check out for ages.

And we thought that maybe there were one or two readers who might like to join us.

The Details

DATES: Novella Reading Week will take place from JUNE 10th to JUNE 16th.

GOAL: To read as many novellas as possible.

OPTIONAL: Write reviews and/or share thoughts on Goodreads, Blogs, Facebook, etc.

GIVEAWAYS: Those who sign up to participate in the challenge can enter the giveaway in the Rafflecopter below for two eNovellas from Amazon for the Kindle. There will be three winners.

During the week of the challenge there will be a giveaway for a Book of Your Choice up to $25 USD to two winners. Details on that giveaway will be included in the Novella Reading Week Begins post on June 10th.

TO PARTICIPATE: Leave a link in the Linky form at the bottom of this post with any of the places you hang out online – Blog, Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Goodreads. Reviews will not be required to participate, but to be eligible for the BoYC giveaway, you’ll have to prove you’ve read the novella(s) by at least sharing your non-spoiler-y thoughts in the comments.

That’s it!

So, if you’d like to participate, sign-up in the Linky below. And if you can accept Kindle eBook gifts, be sure to enter the giveaway.

If you have a blog and would like to grab a Novella Reading Week badge, the code is in the sidebar.

DESTROY ME (Shatter Me #1.5) by Tahereh Mafi

RADIANT (Unearthly #2.5) by Cynthia Hand

GLITTER & DOOM (Masque of the Red Death #1.5) by Bethany Griffin

BREATHLESS (Firelight #3.5) by Sophie Jordan

FLIRTING WITH MAYBE by Wendy Higgins

BRIDGE (Shade #2.5) by Jeri Smith-Ready

A DANCE WITH DARKNESS (Angelfire #0.5) by Courtney Allison Moulton

  2. Brynna says:

Hmm… out of your list, I think I’d most like to read The Prince and Destroy Me, because I haven’t read all of the other books yet (though I did buy copies of a few of them 2 weeks ago at a bookfair!)

  3. blackplume says:

I already read most novellas on the above list but there are few that I still want to read like The Shadow Cat & The Shattered Mountain from Rae Carson’s Fire and Thorns series.

  4. Justine says:

I have The Prince waiting on my Kindle but I haven’t read it yet. I would choose another romance novella as my prize.

  5. Okay… I’m signing up lol πŸ˜€
Because you guys are right… I also never seem to find the time to read those short novellas… πŸ™
But hey, I’ll try that week πŸ˜€

So maybe I’ll get to read…
What Really Happened in Peru (The Bane Chronicles #1)
Flirting With Maybe, because I need my Wendy H. fix.
    Destroy Me!!!

I also want to read the one by Brodi Ashton?? But can’t remember the name πŸ™

And since there are some 0.5 in your list I might give them a go since I haven’t read any novels of those 0.5 novellas in there πŸ˜€

Anyway. Good luck to everyone AND to me. I’ll definitely be needing it πŸ™‚
See how “well” -heavy sarcasm- I’ve done in your DLiE reading challenge? I stink at these things. BIG TIME.

  6. Jennifer says:

    I have already read:
DESTROY ME (Shatter Me #1.5) by Tahereh Mafi
RADIANT (Unearthly #2.5) by Cynthia Hand
THE PRINCE (The Selection #0.5) by Kiera Cass
DIE FOR HER (Die for Me #2.5) by Amy Plum

I am obsessed with e-novellas and read them frequently. Many of them I find critical to the story. So for example I would not even think of reading Boundless (book 3 Cynthia Hand) without first having read Radiant.

I am not sure which novellas I will read for the challenge. I need to find some that I have not read yet.

  7. Lothfleur says:

I’d like to read most of these:
Praying for Rain by Jay Kristoff
Tomorrow is Today by Julie Cross
    Shadow by Amanda Sun
    Starcrossed City by Josephine Angelini
    Iron’s Prophecy by Julie Kagawa
    Daimon by Jennifer L. Armentrout
and if I have read them all, I’ll probably add a few short stories from tor.com

My kindle’s usually stocked up with short stories and novellas, it’s a good way to get to read them! (and to get our Goodreads challenges go crazy with all the additions within a few days!)

  8. I would love to participate, but that week I won’t have time for a lot of reading, if any at all, so I’ll have to pass.

    I hope you’ll read a lot & have fun πŸ™‚

    • Aleksandra says:

Ok, I changed my mind, even with being busy, I think I can still squeeze in some novellas πŸ˜‰ at least I hope πŸ™‚

I made quite the list, but I’m especially looking forward to finally (hopefully) read Jonathan Maberry’s Benny Imura novellas, as well as Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts novellas & Seanan McGuire’s InCryptid novellas, as well as Neil Gaiman’s American Gods novella – The Monarch of the Glen!

      Thanks for hosting!

  9. Taylor says:

Oooo, I know I’m definitely going to read Escaping Darkness by Theresa McClinton, Book #1.5 in the Stone Legacy series.

I have a few books filled with short stories and novellas from books I’ve read, so I’ll probably try to end up reading those too. Wish me luck!

  10. Deann F says:

I will definitely have to get a list put together there have been some that I’ve been meaning to get to.

    • Deann F says:

Last Days of Lorien by Pittacus Lore
MILA 2.0: Origins by Debra Driza
      Slipping by Shandy L Kurth
      Homecoming by Scott Trancey
      Forgotten Lyrics by Amanda Hocking

Don’t know how many I can actually get in but maybe the Bane Chronicles or the House of Night novellas as well.

  11. Zili Robins says:

Ooh some good suggestion guys – I’m thinking of:

Daimon (a Lux novella) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Crossing the Line (pushing the limits novella) by Katie McGarry
Runaway Queen (The Bane Chronicles #2) by Cassie Clare
Bridge (Shade #2.5) by Jeri Smith-Ready
The Prince (The Selection #0.5) by Kiera Cass

    Haven’t decided the rest yet!

  12. Lis Carcamo says:

I want to read Bridge, Undone, The Prince, Daimon and Radiant!

  13. I want to try to read from this list:
The Prince by Kiera Cass, One Day More by Aprilynne Pike, Before Legend by Marie Lu, My Soul to Lose by Rachel Vincent, and What Happened in Peru by Cassandra Clare and friends
    Thanks for hosting!

  14. I definitely plan to read:

Shadow by Amanda Sun (Paper Gods 0.5)
The First by Jason Mott (The returned 0.5)
Clean Slate Complex (A daynight Novella)

    I also might read:

RADIANT (Unearthly #2.5) by Cynthia Hand
GLITTER & DOOM (Masque of the Red Death #1.5) by Bethany Griffin
