Book Watch: Releasing This Week #110

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of February 5th-February 11th that I have pre-ordered.

SCARLET by Marissa Meyer will be released in the U.S. on February 5, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Feiwel & Friends, the print edition is 464 pages.

SCARLET is the second book in author Marissa Meyer’s The Lunar Chronicles. The third book in the series, CRESS, is slated for release in 2014, and the fourth book in the series, WINTER, is slated for release in 2015.

I cannot believe that SCARLET is releasing this week. I had it on my pile to be read. Twice. And I didn’t get a chance to read it early. And now, of course, I’ll have the finished copy downloading to my Kindle on Tuesday.

I’ve been dying to read this second book in the author’s The Lunar Chronicles since the moment I finished reading – and listening to – CINDER. I was so surprised and amazed by that book that I couldn’t believe I had to wait for over a year for the second installment. Well, apparently I did survive the long wait. No one could be more shocked than I am.

But now that it’s releasing I’m even more desperate for the chance to meet Scarlet Benoit and Wolf and see just what’s been happening with Cinder. And I am anxious to find out whether or not the Lunar Queen has managed to entrap Prince Kai.

SCARLET sounds like another awesome story in Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles and I cannot wait to see what the author does with her versions of these characters in this book.

While I won’t get the chance to add SCARLET to the pile this week, I’m hoping to read it at the end of the month.

Unravel Me

UNRAVEL ME by Tahereh Mafi will be released in the U.S. on February 5, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperCollins, the print edition is 480 pages.

UNRAVEL ME is the second full-length book in author Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series. The third book in the series, as yet untitled, is slated for release in November 2013.

I am so unbelievably psyched for UNRAVEL ME to download to my Kindle this week. I’d given away my ARC months ago and I desperately want to re-read this story. I miss Warner and Adam and I want to see if my memory of everything that happened in this second book in the series is correct or if it got somehow skewed with the passage of time.

As I read this book ages ago I can’t pretend to guess at what happened. I know what happened. And I know just how things ended. I also know just how torturous the wait will be for the next installment in the series. Because there are just so many directions that third book can take. So. Many. Directions.

I could go on. And on. And on about just what happened in this book, how I have all the words to talk about what went on with… and how I have all the feels about….

But it would spoil the entire read. Especially if I were to talk about this one particular scene…. Yeah, I probably shouldn’t do that.

And as I already spotlighted UNRAVEL ME for my Book Watch post a couple of weeks ago, I won’t ramble on about just how excited I am for its release. How Juliette’s decisions might very well “involve choosing between her heart–and Adam’s life.” And how much of a role Warner plays in this sequel.

And, even though I read UNRAVEL ME, there is no question I will be re-reading it this month. And possibly again next month. And the one after that. And on. And on. And on….

Etiquette and Espionage

ETIQUETTE & ESPIONAGE by Gail Carriger will be released in the U.S. on February 5, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 320 pages.

ETIQUETTE & ESPIONAGE is the first book in the author’s Finishing School series. The second book in the series, CURTSIES & CONSPIRACIES, is slated for release in November 2013.

I have ETIQUETTE & ESPIONAGE on my reading pile this week. But I am so tempted to read the finished eBook copy when it downloads to my Kindle so I don’t accidentally bend one of the pages in the very gorgeous ARC I have.

I am so glad to finally be able to read this awesome-sounding book, to meet Sophronia, to step inside the Finishing School, and to see just how prepared she will be for a life of “deceit” and “espionage.”

I cannot imagine this world that seems to teach two diametrically opposing things to these young girls. But I can’t wait to immerse myself in it and find out just how they do it.

I haven’t read the author’s Parasol Protectorate series, but it seems that this series can stand on its own. And I cannot wait to start reading this book in the next couple of days.

There are a ton of new books releasing this week, but I’ve only pre-ordered three of them… and the one non-YA read I’ve listed, HOUSE RULES. So, I suppose, that’s technically four.

I’m trying so very hard to reduce my book binging, but it’s not easy. Especially when there are books like HYSTERIA just begging to be added to my collection. Or the latest book in The Lying Game series. Or even Ally Carter’s Heist Society, whose earlier books I own but have yet to read.

But as I’ve purchased a ton of new books these past few weeks, I’m hoping to wait until after release date before I make any new bookish purchases beyond the four pre-orders. I want to give myself a little more time to decide if they’re books I must have in my collection, ones I want to have in my collection, or if they’re simply ones I’m just mildly curious about.

Still… I’m almost positive I will be adding HYSTERIA to my collection this week. In fact, I may end up pre-ordering it as soon as I finish writing this post….

If you’ve been anxiously awaiting UNRAVEL ME’s release date, I hope you’ll be able to add it to your collection this week and that you won’t have to wait weeks and weeks for it to show up.

It is every bit as amazing as it sounds… and then some… and some more after that.

But I should probably wrap this up before I go on another gush-fest like I did back in July on The Annex. I will just say that any fears I had about its awesomeness were quickly set aside as soon as I started reading.

So… I hope you have an amazing reading and book buying week this week and that you have a few titles you’re adding to your collection. If there are any I missed, please let me know!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

I don’t think I’ll be able to add any of these amazing books anytime soon, but I am DYING to read both Unravel Me and Hysteria! I really, really hope my library won’t take months to get them, if they even get them at all. Here’s hoping!!! *fingerscrossed*
I also need to get caught up on Chicagoland Vampires asap!!! 😉

  2. I think I won’t be able to afford any books this month, and it’s going to be hard. Etiquette and Espionage sounds exactly like something I’d love to read and don’t get me started about Unravel me and Scarlet. I love Shatter me and Cinder and I’ll just have to wait for better times

YESSSS, Scarlet and Perfect Scoundrels are finally here!!! 🙂 I can’t believe you managed to put off Scarlet- twice! If that were me, I’d have finished it in a heartbeat! And you really must read Heist Society- it’s so different from other YA books! It’s so cool how Kat and her friends rob banks, pull cons and heists and all the twists and turns are just so mindblowing. 😉

  4. I’m so excited to read Scarlet and Unravel me! Thanks for always posting the new books coming out! I really appreciate it!

  5. I swore to myself I could keep calm…
Unravel Me comes out this week… I can take it…
But then… You said the thing about the waiting and I all but want to crawl into bed and cry myself into oblivion X_X

    Oh my GOD!!!
    You’re torturing me!!
There’s a reason I didn’t want to read your post on The Annex and then you’re linking to it right now… And then what you’re saying plus Tahereh Mafi torturing me with chapters being released…
    I KNEW I KNEW this would happen…

I should stay away from your ‘Releasing This Week’ posts X_X and from any other blog that does this kind of thing showcasing books that are coming out and stuff…
My heart will give up before I get the chance to get my hands on this one…

Life is definitely not fair T_T
