I was so excited when Good Choice Reading sent out the sign-ups for the cover reveal for ETERNAL, the third and final book in author Kristi Cook’s Winterhaven trilogy. I loved the covers for the first two books in the series, so I signed up, sight unseen. Which is not something I normally do. But I just knew it had to tie in with the other two covers – which I loved – so I couldn’t wait to see it and be a part of this reveal!
I think it’s beautiful and simple and elegant and very different from so many of the book covers in YA today.
I love that this third cover has a bit of a modern feel to it with the shape of the hourglass, the bright pink color of the sand and the brighter and bolder hues of the blue. And while I loved that the objects on those first two covers had a more of an old fashioned feel, I love that the object on this cover offers something sleek and modern.
I love how the butterfly ties in with each cover but you get to see it from a different angle on each. And I love that the author’s name and title are similarly placed on all three covers, but with each successive book both the author’s name and title get bolder in color. As do the colors of the covers themselves, each of which is just a little bit bolder than the last.
I think the font used on each is very pretty, yet not overly ornate, and I love that the scroll element is used in one letter of the title on each of the covers. I also love that this book references MIRAGE just as that book referenced HAVEN.
I am surprised that there isn’t a tagline or some kind of teaser on this cover, as there had been on the first two, talking of destiny. Perhaps the title alone hints at what the characters’ destinies might be. Or maybe the leading sentence of the description says it all.
I suppose I’ll have to read it to find out. Once it releases, that is….
But that’s what I think about the cover for ETERNAL. What about you? Do you have cover love for this final installment in the Winterhaven series? Do you think it stands out from its peers in a good way? Do you like the artistry and simple beauty of these covers or do they not strike the right visual note for you?
I’d love to hear what you think!
