Book Watch: Releasing This Week #108

Jan 20

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of January 22nd-January 28th that I have pre-ordered.

Boundless

BOUNDLESS by Cynthia Hand will be released in the U.S. on January 22, 2013 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available online to pre-order in all formats at Amazon and in hardcover and eBook formats at Barnes & Noble.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 448 pages.

BOUNDLESS is the third and final book in author Cynthia Hand’s Unearthly trilogy.

I am both extremely excited and so sad that BOUNDLESS is releasing this week and that it will be living on my Kindle on Monday Midnight. This is an amazing series – one I’ve fallen in love with, shed tears over and angsted over and I can’t believe this is the final installment.

I don’t know when I’ll be able to say goodbye to this series, even though I am just so curious about what will happen to Clara when she heads to California. I’m nervous about this fallen angel who’s stalking her. And even more nervous about the battle against the Black Wings.

The description mentions “sacrifices” and “betrayal” and I really, really, really hope that a certain character is not the one who gets sacrificed or the one who does the betraying. But I suppose I’ll never know until I actually read this series-ending book.

Ah… if only I could say goodbye.

The Archived

THE ARCHIVED by Victoria Schwab will be released in the U.S. on January 22, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Hyperion Books for Children, the print edition is 336 pages.

THE ARCHIVED is the first book in a new series of the same name. The second book in the series, currently untitled, is slated for release next year.

THE ARCHIVED sounds like an absolutely gorgeous and haunting read. Yes, the description calls it haunting too… but it does sound haunting. And I cannot wait for it to download this week.

The idea that the “dead rest on shelves like books” and that Keepers must make sure that these “Histories” don’t escape is absolutely fascinating. Though it sounds like an incredibly sad, lonely and dangerous job for Mackenzie Bishop to have.

I really want to dive into this novel that is described as “richly imagined” and “haunting” by this author who is an absolutely beautiful writer. And I am super excited to see how these Histories are erasing chapters and what Mac must do to keep the Archive intact.

And while I won’t get the chance to read it this week, I’m hoping to be able to sneak it onto the pile this month.

Nobody

NOBODY by Jennifer Lynn Barnes will be released in the U.S. on January 22, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by EgmontUSA, the print edition is 400 pages.

I don’t know what hole in the sand my head was buried in that I hadn’t heard about NOBODY until just a month or so ago. Because it sounds so awesome. And I would have kicked myself if I hadn’t pre-ordered it for my Kindle.

I love the idea that there are these invisible “under the radar” young people that are turned into assassins by the Institute. And I can’t wait to meet Nix and Claire and see whether he disobeys orders and doesn’t “remove” her.

The description is a total tease as it makes me want to know just what Nix and Claire plan on doing to keep her alive. It makes me want to know why an untrained Nobody is so dangerous. And it makes me want to know just what direction this story will take – Is it one where the Institute hunts these kids? Is it a story of betrayal or sacrifice?

I must know. And I really hope to read this in February to find answers to all my questions.

Everbound

EVERBOUND by Brodi Ashton will be released in the U.S. on January 22, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Balzer + Bray, an imprint of HarperCollins, the print edition is 368 pages.

EVERBOUND is the second full-length novel in Brodi Ashton’s Everneath series. The third book, due out in 2014, is as yet untitled.

I am totally stoked that EVERBOUND is releasing this week and that it will become a permanent part of my eBook collection. I love this series, I love the mythology, I love, love, love the characters. And I love this book.

Yes, I did read it early, so I know just what happens and oh my gosh it was awesome. But I’ll be rambling about that in my review on Tuesday so I won’t say anything more about that right now.

And as I talked about this book at length in my Book Watch post, I won’t go on and on. But I will just say that this sequel was as “enthralling” as the description promises. The journey through the Everneath and its labyrinthine passageways was suspenseful and exciting and was a story I could not put down.

Of course I plan on re-reading this book after its release. I’m not sure if much changed from the ARC to the finished novel, but even if nothing changed, I’d have to devour this one again. And, no, it’s not only because the wait for the next book in the series is totally going to kill me.

Ravage

RAVAGE by Jeff Sampson will be released in the U.S. on January 22, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Balzer + Bray, the print edition is 400 pages.

RAVAGE is the third book in author Jeff Sampson’s Deviants series.

Line_001

I have not yet read any of the books in the Deviants series, but I own the previous two and I just had to add RAVAGE to my collection. I don’t know if this is the final book in the series, but I’m hoping to have all books in my collection before I start reading it.

Because I just know I won’t want to have to wait between books to continue this story which sounds intense and action-packed. And while I haven’t yet met Emily Webb or the rest of her “packmates” I did take a quick scan of the description for this third book and it sounds just as awesome as both previous books in the series.

I can’t wait to get caught up on this series so I can witness the confrontation between the Deviants and BioZenith. I’m so curious to find out who’s involved in the mutations. Especially since the description mentions the answer is “far more sinister” than imagined.

I love that this series involves conspiracies and secrets and special abilities and I can’t wait for the chance to finally get to read it. If this is the final book I hope to devour this entire series this winter. If there is another book planned, I hope I’ll be able to wait until closer to its release to start reading.

Not sure if my willpower is quite that strong….

After last week’s post I was informed that SPLINTERED would not be available as an eBook on the 15th but that it will be available to download at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE this week. I am slightly skeptical… but I’m hoping.

But I did manage to snag a couple of print copies from my local Barnes & Noble last weekend so I’m so excited to have a pristine copy in my collection.

Anyway….

There are five seriously awesome books getting added to my Kindle this week and I’m so excited for each of them. And even though I read one of the books early, I still plan on keeping all five on my TBR pile, because EVERBOUND is most definitely a TBRR.

I really hope to read THE ARCHIVED and NOBODY in the next few weeks and just may end up marathon reading the three books in the Deviants series. But I’m not sure whether I’ll have the courage to say goodbye to BOUNDLESS. I’ve already had to say goodbye to an absolutely amazing series - Angelfire - and with WITH ALL MY SOUL and A TOUCH MENACING releasing in the next few months, I don’t know if I can bear to say goodbye to Clara, Christian and Tucker.

But that remains to be determined.

As always, I hope that you have some exciting new reads being added to your collection this week. If the wait for any of these books has been torturous, I’m glad the agony will finally end and that you will now be able to dive into these amazing books.

If I do have any awesome reads being added to my collection, I will be back next week. Until then… Happy Reading!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

  2. I am dying to read The Archived!!! I was offered a copy for review a while back, but had to say “no” because I didn’t think I’d be able to read it in time due to some personal stuff. Now I’m really, really hoping my library will get a copy. *fingerscrossed*
