Shadows in the SilenceSHADOWS IN THE SILENCE by Courtney Allison Moulton will be released in the U.S. on January 29, 2013 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Katherine Tegen Books, an imprint of HarperCollins, the print edition is 480 pages.

SHADOWS IN THE SILENCE is the third and final full-length book in the author’s Angelfire series.

There are a ton of amazing books releasing the week of January 29th, but a I’ve read, loved, shed tears over, reviewed, am still heartbroken because I’ve had to say goodbye to, and desperately want to re-read SHADOWS IN THE SILENCE. So there was absolutely no doubt in my mind as to which book I’d be spotlighting this week.

SHADOWS IN THE SILENCE is a the perfect ending to an addictive and amazing, heartwarming and heartbreaking and action-packed series. The battles are epic. Questions are answered. Choices are made. Lives are lost.

I couldn’t think of a more perfect way to say goodbye. Though with the release of the eNovella A DANCE WITH DARKNESS, I get one more peek into this world. Even if it’s a look at Madeleine’s story and not Ellie, Will and Cadan’s.

As I have read this book, I can’t pretend to guess at just what the outcome will be when Ellie must fight for Will as the description mentions. Or when she has to battle for all of humanity. Or fight to save herself. Because I know what Ellie must do and has done. I know what the outcome is. I know what price must be paid. And I know whether it’s a heartbreaking or happily-ever-after ending.

I can say, however, that I was glued to this book from start to finish. I was caught up in a tale that felt very epic in nature. I was transported into this world which revealed more about Ellie’s past, set the characters and readers alike on a quest, put Ellie on a collision course with destiny, and which built to an incredibly climactic finish.

Of course I won’t say anything more about that. Or about the decision Ellie had to make. Or about how certain characters felt about her choices. Or about who lived and who died.

But I can say that this series was an absolute pleasure to read, it’s one that I’ve re-read just recently and loved even more than I did the first time. It’s one that will forever hold a place in my heart and on my eBook shelves. And it’s written by an author who I will keep on my radar for as long as I’m a reader.

Oh and in case I forgot to mention it, this book was the best one of the series.

So, yes, SHADOWS IN THE SILENCE is a book that I most definitely have watched, will continue to watch and am so thrilled to call the book to watch for the week of January 29th. Even with all the other amazing titles releasing that week.

About the Book

Goodreads description:

Your strength in heart and hand will fall. . . .

Ellie knows that the darkest moments are still to come, and she has everything to fight for:

She must fight for Will.
The demonic have resorted to their cruelest weapons to put Will in mortal danger, and Ellie makes an unlikely alliance to save him and to stop Lilith and Sammael, who seek to drown the world in blood and tear a hole into Heaven.

She must fight for humanity.
As the armies of Hell rise and gather for the looming End of Days, Ellie and her band of allies travel to the world’s darkest and most ancient regions in her quest to come into her full glory as the archangel Gabriel.

And Ellie must save herself.
Her humanity withers beneath the weight of her cold archangel power, but Ellie must hold tight to who she is and who she loves as she prepares for the ultimate battle for Heaven and Earth.

In this final installment in the Angelfire trilogy, Courtney Allison Moulton brings her dark world of epic battles and blistering romance to a blazing bright conclusion.

  1. Best of the series? Are you absolutely positive? Because my heart is set on Wings. Lol, I guess I should stop being a baby and just read it already, huh? Oh man, three more weeks (something like that)!

    • Fiktshun009 says:

I loved Wings because of everything that happened. But this one. Oh my gosh, this one. The writing had so much depth, the story became even more epic, I didn’t think I could love Will any more than I already did, but I did love him so much more. And Ellie grew so much as a character.

And the way things ended… well, I’ll let you learn all about that when you turn those last few pages.

And oh there were tears in this one. Just you wait.

      • Oh man. Ookay, if you say so, Rachel! I really, for seriously, need to get to it like this weekend or something. I can’t keep holding off, aack!

      • And wait, did you just say tears!? What the? Oh my gosh, no! Happy or sad? Wait, you know what? Don’t tell me, lmao! I’ll just read!

        • Fiktshun009 says:

I will never tell. 🙂 You must read it and see for yourself whether I was crying tears of joy for a HEA, sobbing because of an ending that didn’t end happily or just because I had to say goodbye to a series that I absolutely love, love, love and there’s this giant hole in my heart – and life – because it’s gone.

          • Waaah, that last one made my heart hurt. Just a little bit. First, there has to be a happy ending. If not, I’ll become a very mean and bitter person, lol. CAM can’t do this to me. 😉

And *sobs* no more Will, Ellie, and Cadan? And reapers and swords, and kick-ass fighting? Oh my heart!

No. There’s most definitely a happy ending. There just has to be.

            • Fiktshun009 says:

I hope the fear of a possible sad ending will make you read it quicker! 🙂 So I will say nothing! 🙂

  2. I haven’t read any of this series. I think I have stayed away since I am not a big fan of angel books. I have heard it’s really awesome though and may eventually give it a chance. As for the other books coming out soon. I am super excited for Asunder and Prodigy! I just finished What the Spell and enjoyed it. I’m reading Stolen Nights right now, and will be reading The Madman’s Daughter soon.

    • Fiktshun009 says:

I never thought I’d read an angel book when I started reading YA. The whole concept seemed foreign to me.

This series is one of the first few about angels I read and I found it to be totally captivating and exciting. I haven’t always loved Ellie – she is maddening at times – but I’m not someone who has to always agree with the MC as long as they’re interesting and the story engaging.

I hope you get the chance to read it!

And I have got to read INCARNATE, I’ve heard it was awesome. And I did enjoy What the Spell, too. It was a lot of fun.

Oh I will have to check out your thoughts on Stolen Nights. I’d been waiting forever for that one!

And wow, I also heard The Madman’s Daughter was amazing. I hope you enjoy!

  3. Im so sad to see this series come to an end but I cant friggin wait to read this!!!!!! Its a case of re re re reading the first 2 books again 🙂

    • Fiktshun009 says:

I actually might never have let the series end if it weren’t for Momo’s Read-along. I re-read the first two books and just had to pick up my ARC of SitS. I hate series ending books but I’m so glad I read this one. Though I still can’t believe it has ended.

I hope you get to re-read and then read this one soon!

  4. Now I can’t see anything Angelifire related because I instantly think of Momo and how I still haven’t read book #2 -_-

So instead of wallowing in self-pitty I’ll go ahead and say…
Asunder comes out that week as well???
That book cover is my lover (whispers*since I’m married to Incarnates’ cover)

Argh, so many books… Oh 2013 you’ll be the death of me T_T
