Book Watch: Releasing This Week #96

Oct 29

Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of October 30th-November 5th that I have pre-ordered.

Venom by Fiona Paul will be released in the U.S. on October 30, 2012 in hardcover and eBook format. It is currently available to pre-order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Philomel, the print edition is 448 pates.

Venom is the first book in author Fiona Paul’s Secrets of the Eternal Rose trilogy. The second book in the series, Belladonna, is slated for release in 2013 and the third book in the series, Forbidden, will be released in 2014.

I’m not sure why I thought this was releasing next week, but I’m so thrilled that it’s coming out this week instead! Ever since I first heard about VENOM I was intrigued with the idea of a story sent in Renaissance Italy. Venice, no less.

And when the author stopped by the blog in August to share an interview she had conducted with one of her characters, the “other guy” from her novel, I was all the more desperate to get my hands on this book.

I am so very curious to meet Cassandra and find out about this “dangerous world of courtesans, killers, and secret societies” she gets pulled into. Of course, I’m even more interested in meeting Falco, the “mysterious artist with a mischievous grin.” But I’m just as excited to finally get to know more about Luca, who seems to truly love Cass.

I love stories that are a mix of mystery and romance. And if this book is as “stunning” and “seductive” as the description promises, then I just know this series will be on my must reads list.

Rebel Heart by Moira Young will be released in the U.S. on October 30, 2012 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at Amazon and in hardcover and eBook formats at Barnes & Noble.

Published by Margaret K. McElderry Books, the print edition is 432 pages.

Rebel Heart is the second book in author Moira Young’s Dust Lands series. The third book in the series, as yet untitled, is slated for release in 2014.

I had heard that Moira Young’s Blood Red Road was an incredibly interesting book to read. Some readers fell instantly in love with it, others it took awhile to fall in love, and yet others found it just wasn’t a book for them. Well, of course that made it a book I had to own and one I had to find out which category I’d fall into.

And while I haven’t yet read that first book in the series or found out whether this book is a “me” book or not, I just had to pre-order REBEL HEART. And not because the description blurbs Hollywood Crush or because it’s compared to The Hunger Games.

But because I love the title. I love the series title. And I want to meet Saba, a heroine who’s described as “fierce,” in this sequel that promises “danger and destiny, betrayal and passion.”

Touching the Surface by Kimberly Sabatini will be released in the U.S. on October 30, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Simon Pulse, the print edition is 352 pages.

I am so excited for the release of TOUCHING THE SURFACE. I’ve had it pre-ordered for awhile and can’t wait to get the chance to read it. It was the book I chose to spotlight for my Book Watch post and I can’t believe that it releases tomorrow.

I want to meet Elliot. I want to “experience the afterlife” in this lyrical novel. I want to find out just how terrible a past she’ll be forced to face. And I want to find out if she earns the forgiveness she needs to move on.

I am just so curious about who Elliot is now and I can’t wait to see how much different she is from the person she used to be. A person the description says has “hurt,” “betrayed,” and “killed” others.

I am anticipating heartbreak and tears and I really hope to be able to read TOUCHING THE SURFACE this November so that I will have all the answers I’m so desperate for.

Roar and Liv by Veronica Rossi will be released in the U.S. on October 30, 2012 in eBook format only. It is currently available to pre-order online as an eBook at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by HarperCollins the print length is 68 pages.

Roar and Liv is an eBook prequel novella in author Veronica Rossi’s Under the Never Sky series. The second book in the series, Through the Ever Night, is slated for release on January 8, 2013 and the third book in the series, Into the Still Blue, is slated for release in 2014.

I have not yet read Under the Never Sky. But it is on the very top of my reading pile. I just have to finish my current read. And then I’ll be able to dive into ROAR AND LIV, which will download on Monday, Midnight.

Even though this is a prequel novella, as it wasn’t released prior to the first book I will wait to read it until after I’ve read UtNS. Because I want to be able to meet Perry and Aria before meeting Roar and Liv.

And even though I plan on waiting to meet them, I just couldn’t resist taking a peek at the description.

I’m curious as to why Vale isn’t so keen on Roar and Liv’s union. And I want to find out just why his leadership is so important. But the description mentions this is a love story. So, of course, I’m much more interested in that part of the story.

And I really cannot wait to read this story about Roar and Liv…. just as soon as I read the much longer one about his best friend Perry.

It’s a fairly quiet week for YA releases – I only have three full-length novels pre-ordered. Though there is a great novella releasing and a much anticipated novel by Karen Marie Moning that isn’t YA that I also have on order.

I’m hoping to be able to read VENOM and TOUCHING THE SURFACE in early November along with prequel novella, ROAR AND LIV. And just as soon as I get caught up with KMM’s series I plan on adding her latest release to the top of the pile.

And even though I already own THE VINCENT BOYS by Abbi Glines in Kindle format, I am so very excited that the traditionally published version is now available to order. With these lovely covers, I may just have to order a copy in print.

Anyway…

I just know I have to be missing an amazing book or two that I should have pre-ordered. If that’s the case, please let me know and I’ll be sure to remedy that mistake! But even if I’m not, I hope that you found a book or two releasing this week that you just have to add to your collection.

And I hope you have an amazing week of reading ahead.

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

  1. I’m looking forward to Venom and Rebel Heart. I love the cover of Venom and love that it’s set in Venice! I’ve heard a lot of negative reviews of Rebel Heart but nonetheless i’m still looking forward to it.
