I may be a few days late in announcing this new venture that Jaime of Two Chicks on Books and I have embarked upon, but due to a rather busy blog this weekend and the fact that we got up and running just a bit faster than I anticipated, I’m making this announcement ex post facto. Jaime, on the other hand, wrote up a great post announcing our new tour site HERE if you’d like to check it out.
But since I am making this announcement after we’ve gone live, I can say that I am super excited to announce that already we have 90 tour hosts signed up! And we have three amazing authors who have agreed to book their tours with us – Wendy Higgins, author of SWEET EVIL and SWEET PERIL; Elizabeth Norris, author of UNRAVELING and UNBREAKABLE; and Mary Lindsey, author of SHATTERED SOULS and ASHES ON THE WAVES. And we are in discussions with a few more, which we hope to announce soon.
Although we are both very busy bloggers with demanding jobs and hectic blogging schedules of our own, we wanted to be able to share our expertise and provide a service to the authors we love at NO COST to them. We feel that book touring should be as easy as possible for authors and publishers and we wanted to make our service a ONE-STOP SHOP so that it could be.
We know that there are quite a few blog tour sites to choose from in the blogosphere and that we are getting in the game a bit later than most, but we wanted to make sure that the service we were offering was one that we believed in and that we started for the right reasons.
And what it boils down to is pretty simple.
We love books. We love the authors who write those stories that transport us into the worlds they created. And we felt that we wanted to be able to help promote the books and authors we loved simply because of our love of them.
We wanted to provide a service where the authors we loved could get the best promotion possible free of charge. We wanted to make it easy. We wanted to be their one-stop shop for online book promotion.
We don’t see this as a competition. We want the authors we love to have maximum exposure for their books. The more tour sites they sign on with means more promotion for their books, which is a great thing. We just wanted to be able to help with those efforts.
Working together on the Authors Are Rockstars event this summer, while hard work, was incredibly rewarding in its own right. And working with the authors and bloggers was exciting and we wanted to be able to continue that year-round.
So when the topic came up again last week we decided to go for it. And so here we are.
