My Reading Pile #77
Sep 01
It was another quirky mail week. The book I was expecting didn’t show, but my mailbox wasn’t totally empty. Though I’m still missing those bills….
But I did have two seriously awesome things land in my mailbox this week, although I could only take a picture of one.
[Credit for mailbox sharing goes to TSS]
I received a copy of THE SAVAGE FORTRESS by Sarwat Chadda in the mail from the publisher Arthur A. Levine Books courtesy of the author. After reading about what Ash Mistry did on his holiday during the Authors Are Rockstars Tour at Page Turners, I couldn’t wait to get the chance to read more about this character and his adventures.
And I’m super psyched to have an early copy to read in the upcoming weeks. Possibly even next week.
I also received an awesome poster of COLD FURY by T.M. Goeglein on which I was blurbed. Yeah that was totally cool! Of course I couldn’t figure out how to hold it and take a picture. Not for lack of trying, though. But my skills as a contortionist are severely lacking.
Anyway….
Here are the books I have in my reading pile this week.
(September 2 – September 8, 2012)
I am only adding one book to the pile this week and it’s a “Back on the Pile” read, which I already started and am madly in love with. But because I have a book I need to beta read later this week, and am currently reading a book that’s so far “off pile” it’s ridiculous, I am only committing to one other read.
And that, if you hadn’t yet guessed by the cover, is STARLING by Lesley Livingston.
I have been a huge fan of the author for ages. Ever since I’d read WONDROUS STRANGE. Her series was magical and sweet and fun and I fell instantly in love with the characters. One of whom, Fennrys Wolf, just happens to make a very abrupt, very clothes-less, appearance in this book.
Just check out the trailer to see for yourself….
Anyway….
I’m incredibly excited to find out more about this book, to see just what is happening in New York City and to find out why Fenn has appeared missing not only his clothes, but his memory. In just the first few chapters I’ve read, I’ve already fallen in love with this story, connected with the characters… well Mason and Fenn… and can’t wait to find out more.
I am still just as curious about the quote from the description - ”Love is just the beginning… of the end.” – and I am nervously anticipating finding out exactly what it means.
The story pulled me right in and, with Fenn’s dramatic entrance, I really can’t wait to finish. So no, there is no way this one will be a “left behind” read again.

Wishful Thinking reads:
This week I just wish I could catch up. I’m falling quickly behind on everything I should be reading and so I only wish I could read the books I should have already read.
Though I do wish I could re-read UNRAVEL ME….

Those left behind:
I did not get a chance to read ENSHADOWED or THE BLOOD KEEPER. Things were so crazy this past week at work that I didn’t have time to read much of anything. When I had a glitch with downloads to my Kindle with this week’s releases I started reading STARLING instead. But I didn’t even have time to get very far with that.
I hope once I have this beta read tucked away and this other book I’m reading finished I’ll be able to pick them up. Because they’re two of four of my most anticipated late summer reads and I can’t bear the idea of starting fall with them still on the TBR.
And once again I’m majorly behind on reviews. One that I’ll have to write tonight. Hopefully. But with the way my real life stuff has been bleeding into my blogging life, I just don’t know if I’ll succeed.
But I am ever so hopeful.

NetGalley Pile Adds:
I am happy to report that I did not take a peek around NetGalley this week. That’s the second week in a row and I’m so very proud of myself. Though I’d heard that THE RAVEN BOYS was on NetGalley. But I will not go and look. I will not go and look. I will not go and look.
I am so out of sorts with my impending move that I’m not sure if I actually finished a book this week. I may have, though for the life of me I can’t remember. The week has gone so incredibly fast. I could have sworn today was Tuesday…. And given the fact that I worked until early this morning and had to work again today, it can’t possibly actually be Saturday, can it?
Oh, and I’m sad that the Authors Are Rockstars Tour has ended but at least I’ll be able (hopefully) to focus on what I need to get done with stuff on the blog and in real life. And hopefully get back to reading the books that I love.
Anyway, as ever, I hope you have an awesome reading week this week!
