Book Watch: Releasing This Week #82
Jul 22
Below are the YA books coming out this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.
These are books for the week of July 24th-July 30th that I have pre-ordered.
Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard will be released in the U.S. on July 24, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 400 pages.
Something Strange and Deadly is the first book in a new series by the author. The second book in the series, A Darkness Strange and Lovely, is slated for release in 2013.

I love this book. Well, I read about one-third of it and I loved that one third so I’m pretty certain I will love the rest when I read it in the next couple of weeks. I had to set it aside because of more time-sensitive reviews, and of course I blinked and release date is here.
But, I can’t wait until the finished copy downloads this week. I love the author’s writing. I love the setting. And I’m just dying to see how things turn out for Eleanor and her brother.
I don’t want to say too much in case I reveal any spoilers from what I have read, so I’ll just say that this story is incredibly captivating. Eleanor is immediately likable. And from the instant you meet her in the train station during the zombie attack, you’re pulled right in.
And I’m just so curious to find out whether the author leaves readers on a cliff at the end. Because the title of the next book in the series already has me nervous.
I haven’t decided whether to continue reading the eARC or to just read the finished copy, but I definitely will be finishing this book very, very soon. Because it’s awesome.
Endlessly by Kieresten White will be released in the U.S. on July 24, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available online to pre-order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 400 pages.
Endlessly is the third and final book in the author’s Paranormalcy series.

I’m so happy – and so sad – that Endlessly is coming out this week. I hadn’t known it was the series finale when I first got my hands on an early ARC through a trade. And once I did, I had the toughest time picking it up. I hate to say goodbye.
I love the cover. I adore the series. And I want to know what happens with Evie, Reth and Lend. But I did hear some whispers and now I’m terrified to find out if they’re true. So, I’m procrastinating the read.
As I spotlighted Endlessly for my Book Watch post a few weeks ago, I won’t go on and on for quite as long as I did in that post, but… I am really excited to see what happens with the Dark Faerie Queen. And I do want to find out… eventually… why the “supernatural creatures” think Evie is their savior.
I am going to try and read it this summer, but as it is a series ending book and I’m terrible about letting series that I love end, I may not get to it quite so soon. But my Kindle copy downloads this week and I’m excited to have it in my permanent collection.
Drain You by M. Beth Bloom will be released in the U.S. on July 24, 2012 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available online to pre-order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 400 pages.

I first heard of Drain You when I received a copy through a trade. While I knew I couldn’t read it before release, its description was so intriguing that I pre-ordered it for my Kindle and passed the ARC along.
Those first couple of lines from the description make this book sound so awesome. “Every night I’d lie there in bed and look out at the hills behind our house, listening. I knew there’d be consequences.” It gives me the chills.
I want to meet Quinlan Lacey. I want to find out what “evil baggage” her love story brings with it. I want to know why her “fear was too permanent” and I want to see exactly what James does to make her life get “crazy.”
Even the title of this book is awesome and I can’t wait to take a peek at it when it downloads to my Kindle this week.
Cold Fury by T. M. Goeglein will be released in the U.S. on July 24, 2012 in hardcover and eBook format. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Published by Putnam Juvenile, the print edition is 288 pages.
Cold Fury is the first book in a new series by author T.M. Goeglein of the same name.

I was lucky enough to get the chance to read Cold Fury early. And even though I have an ARC, I am so excited to get my finished copy this week. I’ve had it pre-ordered since May and I can’t wait to check it out to see if there are differences from the early version.
I won’t talk too much about the book as my review will be posted on Tuesday, but I will just say that I love the idea of a female main character who’s already fierce but has an ability that makes her even more kick-a**, a story that is very different from any I’ve read in YA before, and writing that paints a gorgeous picture about the setting.
There is a complex mystery that the main character is trying to unravel – about her family’s disappearance, about their history and about her ability. The story definitely takes you along with Sara Jane on this amazing journey through Chicago as she tries to figure everything out.
And even though I’ve read it already, so I can’t say how excited I will be to meet Sara Jane Rispoli as I’ve already met her, I am still super thrilled Cold Fury is releasing this week as I definitely plan on re-reading it.

I could have sworn I had more books pre-ordered this week. Apparently not, as just those four books are listed in my Amazon pre-orders with dates that run from July 24th through July 30th.
Perhaps some dates have changed since I originally ordered the books and there are new titles releasing this week, but I guess I won’t know until they download.
I’ve already read Cold Fury and I know that it’s awesome. All other books I have on order are ones that I am thrilled to check out. Well, putting my fear of series-ending books aside, that is. But I love Kiersten White’s series, and have since I first read Paranormalcy, so I know that I won’t be able to wait too much longer to read it.
If there is another amazing book releasing this week that is a “must buy” I would love to know. Because there’s nothing worse than missing out on discovering some pretty awesome books.
As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!
And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

I am so excited for Endlessly as well. I agree it will be hard to say goodbye to this series. I have defintely grown attacted to Evie and Lend. I was the same way with Spell Bound, I bought the book when it came out and couldn’t bring myself to read it because I didn’t want to say goodbye. Have they said anything about a spin-off? I’d love for one to be published because I love that world.
I read SS&D and I thought it was a lot of fun. I ordered a HB copy. I read “Drain You” and thought it was just okay. Can’t wait to hear what you think.
