Book Watch: Releasing This Week #81

Jul 15

Below are the YA books coming out this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of July 17th-July 23rd that I have pre-ordered.

The Unquiet by Jeannine Garsee will be released in the U.S. on July 17, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Bloomsbury USA Childrens, the print edition is 400 pages.

I first heard about The Unquiet when I saw its cover popping up around the blogosphere. And I just kept getting pulled back to it because of that. There is just something so gorgeous about it that I had to check out the description. And when I did, finally, I immediately added it to my pre-orders.

It’s definitely dark. Its title hints at it, but the description, right from the start, lets you know how dark a book it truly is. There are secrets. There’s a murder. There’s an attempted suicide. There’s a potentially haunted house…or at least one with a disturbing history.

And there’s a girl who seems to be having trouble distinguishing fantasy from reality. Yes, definitely dark. But very, very intriguing. And any book’s description that uses the term “malevolent” instantly pulls me in.

I can’t wait to take a peek at this book, once it’s been added to my collection this week, to find out whether it is a malevolent spirit causing problems or if it’s the main character, Rinn, who is behind it all.

Small Damages by Beth Kephart will be released in the U.S. on July 19, 2012 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available online to pre-order in both formats at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Published by Philomel, an imprint of the Penguin Group, the print edition is 304 pages.

I am so excited that Small Damages is releasing this week and I’ll finally get the chance to read it. I’ve already spotlighted it for my Book Watch post, so, once again, I won’t go on endlessly here.

But I can’t wait to discover Kenzie’s story and see how she handles the challenges that life has thrown at her. The author is such a beautiful writer and I am looking forward to getting lost in the world she’s created. Even though it will likely be a bittersweet one.

I am also excited to head to Spain to get immersed in a completely different setting from many of the books I’ve read lately. I’m looking forward to seeing what Kenzie sees as she discovers the beauty of the world around her and the one within her as the description promises.

I definitely anticipate tears, but happy ones as well as sad ones. And I hope to get a chance to sneak this one in next week.

I only have two new books for the collection this week. Both of which I hope to read in the next few weeks because they look so awesome. I’ve been waiting awhile for Small Damages so I can’t believe it’s finally releasing this week.

It’s very likely I’ve missed a few releases, especially of the non-YA variety, but I’m happy it’s a quieter week so that I can get just a bit more caught up. Of course when I check out other new release posts, I’m sure I’ll find at least one other book to buy….

But anyway… I hope you’ve found some awesome new books to add to your collection this week and that your reads for the week ahead are equally as awesome!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!

Oh both of these sound interesting. I don’t know if they would be my type of book though. I can’t wait to read your reviews and thoughts on them.
