I am so super excited to be a part of the cover reveal for Uriel by Aaron Patterson. Whenever I hear that an author has chosen to use artwork by  Claudia McKinney of Phatpuppy Art for their book I am ecstatic. I think she is an amazing artist and her artwork is stunning and beautiful and magical.

And the cover for Uriel is no exception.

Uriel is the third book in the Airel SagaAirel, the first book in the series was released on August 31, 2011 and Michael, the second book in the series came out on June 15, 2012. And while the release date hasn’t been announced for Uriel, I am already anticipating its release because of this awesome cover.

MY THOUGHTS

I loved the cover for the first book in the series, Airel. But I love this one even more. It is utterly enchanting. The colors are vibrant and harmonious and the sparkly dust gives it that magical quality.

The model is beautiful but has a fierceness in her gaze and pose. I love her bright blue hair, her armband tattoo which glows from within and the wicked eyeshadow design. It definitely makes a statement and says a lot about the character. I don’t have any doubt that she is a warrior.

My eyes are drawn instantly to the pastel shapes, which are just indistinct enough to make me continue to stare at them as if they’ll transform into something I’ll recognize if I look long enough.

I also love that the lightness on the bottom right is balanced with that darkness and shadow on the top left. The contrast not only keeps it interesting but keeps it from feeling too ethereal. As do the small details the author has added, like the light touching just a part of the model’s forehead, making her eyes sparkle, and adding just a touch of a shine to her lips and her nose.

And while each cover is quite different, I love that the title font remains the same and has consistent placement on all three covers. But I love the colors used for the title font on this cover the most, as even though it is dark it has an opacity to it which makes it stand out.

So, yes, this is my favorite cover in the series by far. And I can’t wait to see what it will look like in print.

But that’s what I think… now what do you think?

ABOUT THE BOOK

Uriel.

All she wanted was to live her own life…

When heroes start to tell lies, even to themselves: Uriel. She’s spent thousands of years fighting against her destiny, fighting against her bereaved father, against El Himself.

“It’s just one letter, but it’s my letter, father…”

Once more, we see how the evil deeds of the past play out in the following generations, and with grave consequences—and startling revelations.

Betrayal, deceit, and murder are unavoidable in Uriel, Book 3 of the Airel saga.
