I ended up skipping a week because it seems I don’t have any books on my watch list for the week of May 22nd. Of course if I find out I missed one I’ll be heartbroken.

But there are two books releasing the week of May 29th that I’ve been anxiously anticipating. Though I just had to choose Dreamless by Josephine Angelini as the book to put in the spotlight this week because I have been pining for its release for quite a bit longer. Plus, I think this sequel is seriously awesome. And I know this because I read Dreamless purely for pleasure back in February.

Which means I don’t have to guess what will happen in this story. But I will try to only talk about what’s mentioned in the description for fear of revealing spoilers.

I am such a huge fan of love triangles and this one is definitely “unforgettable” as the description promises. I can’t forget about it. It’s been driving me crazy for nearly three months. So much so that I will be re-reading this book before its release. And I am already dying to read the next book in the series which won’t be out for another year.

Helen’s descents into the Underworld are exciting and dangerous and scary and nerve-wracking. And I can’t wait to take those journeys with her again. I loved getting a peek at this entirely new world the author created for this second book in the series. Even though it is at the least an unforgiving landscape, at the most it’s a horrific nightmare. But it adds so much nail-biting suspense to this story.

The book’s description calls it a “saga,” and I couldn’t agree more. It says it’s “intricate” and “spellbinding” and it most definitely was both of those things. The world was twisty-turny, the characters and plot were multi-layered, and I was riveted from beginning to end. Barely without pause.

I would have spotlighted this book for Helen and Lucas’ relationship alone. They have amazing chemistry. Which also makes their relationship incredibly volatile. But so totally, deliciously exciting and one that you just won’t want to miss. Even with that looming love triangle….

So, with an exciting new world to explore, a love triangle to keep you tied in knots, characters you just have to know more about, a nice long look at the mythology introduced in Starcrossed and a fast-paced, action-packed and utterly riveting story, Dreamless is absolutely the book to watch this week.

About the Book

Goodreads description:

As the only Scion that can enter Hades at will, Helen descends to the Underworld in search of a way to overcome the Furies and end the cycle of revenge that has cursed the Scions. But she’s running out of time. Each descent weakens her both in mind and spirit. A mysterious stranger might be her only salvation, but the price may be her love for Lucas Delos.

As an unforgettable love triangle emerges, Josephine Angelini’s compelling saga becomes ever more intricate and spellbinding. The eagerly awaited sequel to the internationally bestselling Starcrossed, Dreamless delivers with a huge emotional impact that will leave readers satisfied—and longing for more.

I do recall you weren’t a fan. :) It wasn’t to everyone’s taste. I happened to like the animosity between Helen and Lucas. But I did read the negative reviews and could see what others did and didn’t like about it. I read it a couple times I enjoyed it a lot.

  5. What a pretty cover. I need to read Starcrossed still. Sounds like a great read. Enjoy

I love the colors in this cover! Starcrossed was a lot of fun. I very much loved it, and loved this sequel even more! I hope you get a chance to read it. :)

  6. I am so excited for this book. I just won a copy on Twitter, so I will be [im]patiently waiting for it. These covers are absolutely gorgeous. Starcrossed was one of my favorite reads from last year. :)

Oh yay! You won! That’s awesome. I read it months ago but didn’t review it. I think I’ll have to re-read it. Starcrossed was a favorite too. I loved that scene where Lucas and Helen fell from the sky. That’s sort of what made me totally fall in love with it. This book is very different. Much more mythology. But something – I won’t say – that makes me very nervous about book three.
