Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins will be released in the U.S. on May 1, 2012 in paperback and eBook formats.
Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 464 pages.
Sweet Evil is one of the books that can be chosen for the 2012 Debut Author Challenge hosted by Kristi at TheStorySiren.com.
The week of May 1st is absolutely insane. It was so hard to pick just one book, that I couldn’t do it on Thursday. I needed a few extra days to decide. But I did it. Finally. And in the end I decided to choose Sweet Evil as the book to watch this week.
While I am dying to read Insurgent by Veronica Roth, I already know just how full of awesome Sweet Evil is. And because of the amazing event going on this month by the publisher, HarperCollins, Insurgent is already in the spotlight. So I’m creating my very own spotlight for this book – hopefully series – that deserves one just as much.
As I have already read and reviewed Sweet Evil, I know just how awesome it is and how swoon-worthy Kaidan Rowe is. So, there was really never any question in my mind that this book is the book to watch on May 1.
I gave Sweet Evil my off-the-menu rating because it was so much more than amazing. I’ve read it twice already. But even two reads was not enough and I plan on reading it again once it has been published.
Anna Whitt is an absolutely lovable and relatable heroine. She is the perfect “good girl,” but is so easy to connect with, to understand and to adore. Her goodness adds to her character when so often that quality can be a negative.
And Kaidan is the ultimate bad boy. Given who his father is and what his role is, you’d think it would be so easy to keep your distance. But he is charming, sexy and incredibly likable. He is a bad boy that doesn’t want to be bad… well, not all the time. Oh, and he is a musician.
These two characters have an amazing dynamic and incredible chemistry. They balance each other so perfectly. They make you root for them. They make it impossible to tear your eyes away from the page.
Add to that a dark and demon-filled world that has such depth and dimension, that is absolutely intoxicating, that is as chilling as it exciting and a story that makes you just want more and more and more, and it’s impossible to imagine Sweet Evil not being spotlight-worthy.
I’ve been watching this 2012 debut for months and months, long before I had a copy in hand, and I will continue to keep watch long after its release and the release of any future books in the series. But for now, I will anxiously watch the countdown widget until Sweet Evil‘s release and I have my finished copy in hand.

What if there were teens whose lives depended on being bad influences? This is life for sons and daughters of fallen angels in Sweet Evil.
Tenderhearted Southern girl, Anna Whitt, was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage, and her will-power is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.
A cross-country trip to meet her father forces Anna to face the reality that hope and love are not options for her kind. When she confronts her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?
